I used this suncreen on holiday in the Caribbean last year (along with my trusty hawaiian tropic, of course!) First off, I love the spray pump. Sunscreens that come in bottles with caps are a pain, & sprays can reach certain areas of your body more easily, which is a definate plus. I started off using Nivea SPF 10 on my first 5 days of holiday (then dropped down to my Hawaiian Tropic SPF 6 oil) & I got a beautiful tan with no burning. Note that I tan very easily due to my olive skin & have never burnt before in my life, so if you have fair skin, freckles, moles or skin that is known to burn, then use a high SPF.
It really does moisturise the skin -- my skin felt noticeably softer & smoother throughout the day. The smell is decent; not the lovely smell of Hawaiian Tropic coconuts, but it's a good smell still that is totally bareable. Also, the texture of the sunscreen is good - I feel comfortable using it on my face as it isn't stick & thicky like some sunscreens can be (you know the ones which clog your pores...*shudders*). The bottle also has little grooves on the side which makes it really easy for you to pick up the bottle because your fingers fit in them perfectly, meaning the bottle cannot slip out of your hands if they are oily.
This sunscreen is very pricey, retailing at £11.99 for a 200ml bottle. I got mine on offer at Boots - £9.97 buy one get one free. Try & spot them on a bargain.
As I said before, this provides IMMEDIATE protection. This means that the sun protection spray starts to work as soon as it is applied to the skin, so it is not necessary to wait indoors or in the shade before the product starts to work. The optimum level of UV filters, lipids and emulsifiers leaves a protective film on the skin that guarantees instant protection from the moment it is applied.
I also wanted to add some tips. Firstly, you can still tan/burn in shade, because half of the UV radiation is still present in the shade. Don't think you are protected in the shade! Also be careful underwater aswell, as UV rays can penetrate down through about 10m of water. The face and shoulders are particularly vulnerable. Scientific studies have shown that the risk of a person developing skin cancer increases with the number of times that sunburn has occured...so please try your best to ensure you don't burn.
I would definately recommend this suncreen, simply because it has immediate protection, comes in a spray bottle, protects against both UVA/UVB rays, doesn't smell bad, isn't thick/sticky in texture & is water resistant. Yes, it is a little pricey, but it amongst one of the best sunscreens I've ever used.
