Was looking for a cheaper alternative to my HG Shu Uemura Mascara Basic (now Ultimate Natural). While the NYX doesn't smudge it is too wet to hold a curl. I had no issues with the brush as I found it applies nicely. Also removes easily. Feels substantial when held like higher end brands. The shade is a beautiful glossy black. But I won't buy again as it simply makes my lashes stick straight out--negating the use of an eyelash curler!

This mascara isn't the best for volume, I like Dior show, or voluminous by loreal for that, but this mascara is good for a different look. It makes the lashes seem slick, or wet even though it's completely dry, and it's the blackest black ever. I normally like full thick brush wands, and this one is odd shaped, with it tapering in the middle of the brush, hard to get used to working with that, and you must work fast as it dries quickly. But, I do love the shiny length it provides and it stays on, flake free better than any other mascara that I have tried, while somehow being the easiest to remove. I simply wash my face, and you can see little black fibers coming off, and it washes away clean. With other mascaras I have to use another remover after washing my face to get what ends up under the eyes. How did they do this? I don't know but I find myself reaching for this one over others almost daily. My new favorite.

It was so difficult to remove this mascara with an eye makeup remover. Every time, I used this, I lost lashes. Simply not acceptable. Clumps lashes together, worse mascara ever!

i don't like this mascara. it doesn't give or hold a curl. why didnt i like it? to remove it is a pain. it comes off in little pieces and that makes it a bit difficult to clean from eyes since it gets all over the place.

This is not only the best waterproof mascara I have ever tried, it is the best mascara period. It gives curl, definition, volume and a real "doll-eyed" look. I compared it to Diorshow and I will never again spend $31 on a mascara. This is only $10 Cdn. Although it is very waterproof (I have gone swimming in it many times) it removes easily with Bifacil eye makeup remover. I plan to buy a couple of backups - you never know when a company will discontinue something fantastic.

This was *so* difficult to use. I have thin Asian lashes and when I used the brush that came with it, my lashes just clumped and drooped. I eventually replaced it with a silicone spool from an older mascara (after cleaning it, obviously), and just lived with the ill-fitting spool jammed into this packaging for this mascara. When I used the new silicone spool it was definitely easier, but still a lot of work to get long lashes.

The best waterproof mascara ever.
This became my HG while I was training for an Ironman triathlon - yes, I wear makeup to race. After hours in the ocean and pool this stuff never flaked or smeared.
It's not going to give huge volume, but it gives a beautiful, delicate, curled fringe of lashes. I've tried lots of mascaras - DiorShow, the entire Lancome line, etc. Honestly, this is super cheap and far better than any other mascara I've ever used.
Love it.

**editing this review** I've downgraded this to a 3. While it did survive some splashing, it didn't survive full out hanging out in the wave pool with the family. At the end of the day it was nothing but flakes. Too bad. :( I'm still searching for my HG waterproof mascara.
I put this on for a day at the water park with hubby and kids and it worked well! No smearing or flaking at all. I wish it would lengthen my lashes more, but it's ok and I'm happy I didn't come out of the park with raccoon eyes. In fact it still looked just fine when it was time to take it off in the shower that night. It came off perfectly with the Neutrogena eye make up remover. Over all I'm happy with it, it's the best waterproof mascara I've used so far.

This mascara is not the best. It makes the lashes clump together and the brush doesn't allow the product to go on very easily. I think I would have faired better with another drugstore mascara. Anyway, it was worth giving a try and I will make the best of it.

I have thin, straight Asian eyelashes. This mascara is WAY too heavy for my lashes to even dream of holding a curl! It's thick, too (not a defined look), which is good for nighttime use but I'm searching for more of a daytime mascara. :(

I don't believe this is readily available in NZ, I bought this from an Australian based website.
Pros:
I really like the packaging
Was reasonably priced
Stayed on well, no smudgies/panda eyes
Cons:
I just didn't like the effect this gave my lashes, it seems to clump them together. For that reason, I won't repurchase.

I have been trying countless mascaras to find the one does not smudge under my eyes, and THIS IS IT. If you wear contacts and have oily skin, so all mascara smudge under your eyes. It is because you haven't tired this. You can find it at most beauty supplys or on eBay. Its price usually run from $6.99-11.99.

To be perfectly honest every mascara looks the same on me - Lengthening ones give me the same effect as volumising ones do and my lashes don't need curling.
Doll Eyes (and Chanel Inimitable) however, comb the hell out of my lashes, makes them longer and thicker and as long as I sweep cleanly and use one coat like I usually do, there's no clumping either.
I switched to this after my hit the six-month mark on my excellent but expensive MUFE Lengthening mascara.
So I'm glad that the NYX one is so good and costs so little. NYX's formula is waterproof but comes off easily with the Clinique Take the Day Off. I can toss it away in another six months without feeling the pinch.
I tried the Bourjois Elastic Mascara (roughly same price in India) but chose this one instead because the Elastic clumps and sends eyelashes this way and that as if they were brambles!
TIP: The bristles are thicker at the edges and thinner in the centre, When you're done with your first coat and need volume, don't do another sweep. Point the tip of the wand towards you (like you're going to poke your eye) and run sideways (back and forth) against your lashes instead. Turns up the volume!

I have stick straight, hard-to-cul, downward-facing lashes, so I always go for waterproof formulas as they hold curl better. This did not hold my curl AT ALL. I curled my lashes, swiped this on, and in minutes my lashes drooped. It clumps to high heaven, but at least adds a good amount of length, which is the only positive I can say for this. Back to Ulta the next day :(

I love waterproof mascaras over regular mascara, my eyes are often really teary and the regular stuff just doesn't do me justice as it always comes off! So, I decided to give this a try since I heard great reviews on the regular formula but of course, I picked water proof. I love the brush, it's different from many of my other drug store mascaras. It's a medium sized soft brush with some curves, It comes on pretty good and seperates my lashes pretty well also. It gives great length and I haven't found mascara that made my lashes as long as this. This is more for length than volume so if you're lookin for volume this isn't it. Overall, I do love this and would repurchase!

This is my new favourite mascara. I always need a waterproof mascara because 1) I have super straight lashes and need a waterproof mascara to hold a curl and 2) I have oily eyelids and normal mascaras get smudged easily.
Unlike other waterproof mascaras, this one comes off easily with makeup remover.
I think I'll be buying more once I'm done with thise tube :)

This mascara gives decent length though not much volume. however it does not hold a curl for me at all! i curled my lashes like crazy before applying it just to check but it just all flopped back down and looked extremely odd given the extra length. like spider legs poking out of my eye. perhaps it is better for shorter lashes?
would not repurchase and i would much rather buy a more expensive mascara that can actually hold a curl.

I like this mascara. I don't know why the bad reviews but I will chalk it up to people have to find what is right for them for now.
I wanted to try the volume but they had none left at Ulta, all they had was one lone waterproof, and I figured I might as well try it because I like waterproof better. I did want volume though, and length as best as a mascara can do. Before this I was using Bad Gal waterproof, and I didn't like it enough. Before that it was my favored Lancome mascara, I can't remember the name but they don't have it anymore anyways. So here I am with this. I looked at it in the store and liked the way the formula looked and how opening it felt. That is the best I can explain it. I have worn it twice so far, and I like it. I really like it. I curl my eyelashes and this does hold the curl for me, well as good and as long as I want it to. I noticed tonight around 10 o'clock (I put it on and curled my eyelashes at about 10 in the morning) I did notice a couple of lone lashes kind of loosing curl but not noticeable unless you are up close to me. I do like the formula and how it goes on, I like the way it makes my lashes look long and thick. Not sure about the waterproof part because I haven't cried or had very watery eyes, but it doesn't flack or smear. Comes off better than the Bad Gal stuff, which was a plus. I may try other mascaras before committing and after reading more reviews, but this has potential and I may use it more and more.

i hate the mascara wand more than the actual formula...it pulls out too much product and gets gloopy...BUT, when you wipe the excess and apply with certain areas of the wand, it works very well...i find the formula takes a bit to dry, so be careful of blinking...i also find that this mascara grabs 2-3 hairs and sticks together and defines your lashes(doll eyes)? i will post pictures sometime...NOW, i only bought this b/c i wanted to try a NXY mascara and b/c it's waterproof, b/c waterproof mascaras are the only ones that hold curl for me...but this doesn't hold a curl very well...:( this is how i wear this mascara...
curl lashes, put on covergirl lashblast h2o proof(holds curl very very well), then apply the nyx dolleyes h2o proof...that's the only way it keeps the curl and gives that "dolleyes" effect
this feels light and does not smudge on me :)...i think this mascara is a close runner up to covergirls lashblast length (the yellow tube) except for the sticking lashes together part, b/c the cglbl seperates and gives a fuller look...but overall, if you work with the mascara, it works wonders so i'm giving it a 4/5, i won't rebuy b/c i don't like mixing mascaras or layering...HTHs :)
