I hate to be one of the only negative reviews. I really wanted to like this e/s. Based on the reviews here I was sure this would be an instant HG. HOWEVER that glitter is killing me. I don't care if it doesn't show up on my lid when I blend it DOES end up all over my face!! I get a ton of fallout when I put this on (unless I use it wet, which I don't like doing) and even when I wipe it off with a face wipe I still see random pieces of glitter on my face throughout the day. I hate that, especially since other people have commented that they see glitter on my face whenever I wear galapagos!! Besides the glitter, galapagos really doesn't go well with my fair cool toned skin. I think this would look much better on warmer ladies. I'm really disappointed this didn't work, but I did find NARS Fez and Mekong which I love!

YAY! I finally got my Galapagos!!!(singing and dancing). I had this eyeshadow on my list of "must haves" for the longest and I finally got it today. And I am NOT disappointed. I am in love with this shadow it did not disappoint me. It is a deep rich brown with flecks of gold. In the pan the flecks of gold are very prominent but when applied its not super glittery at all. I would've appreciated a little more of the flecks of the gold to show up but in the end it doesn't matter. I am still in love. I am a Nc44 from Mac and this shade looks great ALL over my lids and blended out at the crease, and thats it. Nothing more, nothing less. And this created the prettiest smokey eye.(def my go to summer smokey eye shade). It's not hard to blend at all and very pigmented. I also used "casino" bronzer by Nars and this was the perfect combo. On the flip, it's a bit pricey but I say go for it, it will be really hard to find something that meets the quality of this shadow. I don't know when this will run out but when it does I will def buy again.

Very richly pigmented light brown with tiny gold sparkles in it. I like to use it for both daytime and nighttime occasions.

I adore this eyeshadow and use it almost daily to smudge into my eyeliner - it has an amazing richness, depth and warmth to it and literally makes my warm green eyes 'glow' - I love, love, love this eyeshadow!

This is just the prettiest sexiest brown ever. I wear it alone all over my lids slightly smoked out with dramatic black lashes. My man loves it on me. I love NARS' packaging and will repurchase. I like to choose any makeup item I buy carefully rather then buying everything I see and want. This shadow is probably my favorite thing I've bought this year.

This is my very first NARS eye shadow and I'm happy I chose it. Beautiful shadow with just enough shimmer. I am Polynesian with medium skin tone. This looks gorgeous on the crease and I pair it with MACs Satin Taupe on the lid. I get so many compliments when I wear this. Very easy color to wear.

Gorgeous unique shade and a breeze to apply, like all NARS shadows. A great alternative to a black smokey eye. I've noticed that women with darker complexions have written that the gold flecks didn't show up on them, but I am quite fair and found them VERY obvious, on the verge of not being appropriate for day wear, so it might be a good idea to swatch before you buy.

This shadow is not what it appears to be. To me it appears as a dark brown with gold glitter...yes glitter not sheen or shimmer and you would think NARS knows how to do glitter as they do have other shadow with glitter with major fall out but not this one, to me it applies like a matte. I would use it more as a shadow if there was that gold...but then again I'd probably complain about fall out, anyways I mainly use this to line my eyes or in the outer v. I marked as I would not buy this again as I do not use it often and for me it is'nt that easy to pair shadows with.

This is a great color, Nars describes it as a rich brown with gold flecks. The gold flecks don't really show up on my skintone, however the color is rich and applies evenly. The color lasted all day on my lids. If you own NARS' Cordura I would skip this color as well as fez because these four colors are very similar.

This shadow is very richly pigmented... You only need a little bit to get the job done. It also blends very well. I love the combination of gold and greenish sparkle that it offers. It's a very gorgeous, fun neutral.

I love this brown. It is a staple item. Like all nars products the sophistication and pigmentation is there an amazing. I love using this for bridal looks. It is a warm brown with gold flecks in it. Simply stunning. If you are on the fence about this think no more and just go get it!

For a basic bronze eye I wear Stila Wheat and Golightly eye shadows, but when I want to take it up a notch for nighttime and make a sexy smoky eye, I break out Galapagos and apply in the crease/outer corner. It's a beautiful dark shimmery brown with gold glitter that's flattering on my light brown eyes, but I think it would be especially gorgeous on green or blue eyes. If you use it wet there's much less glitter fallout, although still a tiny bit. With glittery shadows it's always a good idea to apply them first (before the rest of your makeup) so you can clean up any stray particles that may have landed on your face. I think Monsieur Nars has really up his eye shadow game in terms of color payoff and texture - Galapagos is buttery soft and highly pigmented, which sadly was not the case with some other NARS shadows I've tried. Definitely a must-have if you want to create a smoldering bronzey eye!

NARS eyeshadows are super pigmented! they're kind of soft.. like they're not super pressed, which i like, but people complain about fallout. you just have to use a light hand & build it up, or press it on instead of brushing it on. It blends really easily. Galapagos is a dark shimmery brown with tiny gold flecks. i think nars eyeshadows come out more pigmented on your skin than it looks in the pan. the gold flecks show up at first, but fade throughout the day. i use it in my outer corners & my lower lashline & i think it's the perfect color to add depth to my lower lashline (i have flat asian eyes). You also get a lot of eyeshadow in the package :) and a little mirror in the top. continued >>

I love the color of this shadow, the gold sparkles drew me in at first, but the brown tone is such a great color for smoky eyes. My only issue with this product is that it doesnt last. I feel like it is very dramatic and enticing in the compact, but when used on the skin it didnt pop and sparkle like I thought it would. Maybe I am doing something wrong? I have used primer, used it as is, wet and dry and nothing has changed.

This is the ultimate smoky deep brown eyeshadow for blue-eyed girls! I now feel like my warm-toned eye makeup looks are incomplete without NARS Galapagos. I use this color on the days I'm wearing peachy, bronze, and golden eyeshadow colors to wet line over my eyeliner (GOSH Velvet Touch in True Brown, another amazing product). This rich brown has warm undertones, so it clashes with cool purples and taupes.

I pair it most often with Chanel Island and Chanel Venus (Stila Kitten type colors, minus all the frost), using Mac Dazzlelight to highlight. Galapagos looks great with pretty much any combo of warm colors you can think of, though. Most of the time I just wet line with it (takes only a couple dabs with a wet Laura Mercier smudge brush), but I do smoke out the outer V occasionally. For super dramatic smoky eyes, I smoke out the lashline with Galapagos, using a dabbing motion on top of a sticky primer like Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. This way of applying it keeps the gold/multicolored microglitter on my lid. Otherwise, I can't really see the glitter after blending Galapagos on my eye lid.

Since I am super fair and cool-toned, I'm surprised at how well Galapagos fits into my daily makeup arsenal. It brings out my murky blue eyes so beautifully with a couple of quick swipes. PPPs with light eyes, you *need* Galapagos in your life!

UPDATE: I have discovered after wearing this as an eyeliner for a month or so that it was irritating my eyes. I was wondering why I've had more trouble with my contacts lately. The micro glitter is the culprit! Taking off one lippie because you can't use it as a liner without the sparkles getting in your eyes.

An exact DUPE of Galapagos, sans glitter, is called Smashbox "Walnut." It's the same shade of warm, dark brown that lights up my blue eyes. Smashbox Walnut is even more blendable and just as richly pigmented. I got it on ebay for $7 - a fraction of the cost of Galapagos. Love it. If you're looking for another NARS shade, Bengali is close. Hope that helps!

NARS shadows are pricey and in most cases, worth it. Colors like Galapagos are the Rolce Royce of of all shadows are there. It has an intense color shimmer and I consider it to be a lot more of a pigment than a shadow, due to its intensity.
Like any shadow it works well on its own. If I had to combine it, I could be done with any colour to bring our the gold-reddish chocolate essence of it
