I hate Alien, but this I like. It's strong like alien, but it's a lot softer than Alien and it doesn't have me smelling like gambling grannies.

I'll start by saying I LOVE the original Alien....no more than love...Adore!!! (or is love more than adore?)...;o)
This version of Alien is a close but not quite second for me, I like it but it's not the true love that Alien is. It's a nice lighter version that is great for summer, but I wear my original Alien through the summer anyways so I'll not be purchasing this flanker. It's a nice smeller though. :o)

This is from someone who doesn't like citrus or jasmine in her fragrances and this version is alien is full of both. Nevertheless I think it has something that is overall impressive, full bodied and connotes heat, beautiful sunsets, summer evenings full of laughter, salsa, long and colourful dresses full of orange and purple and bodily heat. I often think that jasmin is either to stuffy or too ethereal but Alien manages to combine it with citrus and patchouli to create a slightly musky, almost Dune-like warmth on my skin. I also seldom enjoy patchouli but it doesn't disturb me in Alien EL. Good sillage and long lasting too. It's not my type of notes perhaps but if it was I think I would give it a four. Hence a four:)

I love this fragrance! The combination of jasmine and orange is wonderful. I have never been a fan of the original Alien, but this lighter version is fantastic. It is perfect for summer nights: sexy and sophisticated. I always receive compliments when I wear this. It is strong and lasts, but now in an obnoxious way...I love it!

I'm trying this on for the 2nd time... I didn't like it the first time round, 2nd time I like it better but 'm not sure if I like it much better. Its topnotes are a big bunch of heady jasmine mixed with green tea - this is a pretty typical combo amongst perfumes released in the past 10-15 or so years. I think I also detect a tinkle of oceanic smell. What it differs from others are the added fruits, which are detectable when first applied, but intensify after the topnotes wore off a little. Strong bits of oranges and some grapes. The orange isn't the type you smell from fruit juice stands, more like orange chews (e.g. chewits or may be Fanta), the tea is still going strong at this stage. After this blast of fruits bits of spices came out, but it is applied with slight hand as it's v light and shadowy (may be cardamon?) The sweet tangy spiced fruits bring back some faint memories I have of Angel and Lolita Lempicka. There is an interplay of notes that suggests distance (jasmine, tea, oceanic smells), yet at the same time it draws you in with the lush fruits.

I have not liked this expression of jasmine in others (e.g. Dior's J'adore, Kenzo's Parfum d'Ete) as it's very unrelentingly strong, so I've find it hard to like Alien EL. I like the fruits in Angel and Lolita Lempicka but I don't like wearing them. Which is a long way round of saying that I'll have to pass on this one.

I've been on the fence with Alien Eau Luminescente... I adore original Alien, it's the fume that got me to like jasmine and it's my current #2 fume (JM Blue Agave/Cacao is my #1, HM Butterfly is my #3). This frag is Alien with orange on top. I can smell only a slight difference on drydown... AEL being a bit 'fruitier' and Alien being 'sweeter'.
I do really like AEL, but it's just not different enough from the original to make it bottle-worthy for me. It's got a great looking bottle, and I would definitely recommend this to someone who has yet to purchase Alien.
I've experimented layering Jo Malone's 'Orange Blossom' and 'Nectarine and Honey' with Alien, and have gotten a near approximation of AEL on drydown (side by side comparison with sample of AEL.) SO, if you happen to own Alien and either of these JMs, you pretty much have Luminescente. On the otherhand, if you love collecting every fume in a line/house, you'll still love AEL for being just different enough from it's big sister.

Alien is purple in scent to me. It smells of lilac and lemon on my skin. I would buy it if it smelled more of lilac, but every so often I head to the counter to see if the formula smells a bit different on me. I saw the big orange bottle and thought yowza, maybe? Tried it. The orange is obvious to me, which is fine, but a patchouli like scent comes with it, which I don't mind but it really kind of stung my nose. I asked the SA and she said that that was exactly what I was smelling - the patchouli, and if I don't like patchouli, then this probably isn't the scent for me. It seemed spicy on me, not soft and airy like Alien, and for the summer, I can see where it could be a hit, on the other hand, it could be overpowering on the wrong skin, like mine. Will keep debating about Alien in the meantime!

iīve NEVER been a fan of the original "alien" thatīs why i didnīt have high hopes in "alien eau luminescente", but gave it a try anyway.
*surprise, surprise* i REALLY like it. itīs a softer "alien" version with orange topnotes.
very nice & much easier to wear than the original. i had to purchase a bottle.
the only downside is that it comes without cap & as the scent is pretty potent i cannot store it in my sleepingroom which i normally do, because the whole room immediately smelled of it. (you can also smell it through the packaging...)
other than that itīs a great scent worth checking out!

Headed to the Mugler counter today, looking for the Miroir Miroirs again. They might have been there, I didn't actually notice if they were... because I was distracted by this new LE scent - Alien Eau Luminescente! I stopped dead in my tracks at the sight of the large bright orange bottle, so similar to that of the original Alien bottles. Imagine, the weird bottle, made even more weird! Love it. About the scent: It isn't heavily reliant on the sweet thick softness of the original - this version instead highlights the 'tangy' aspect of Alien. The description on the promo mock-ups called it "Fresh, floral, ambery". It didn't seem overtly floral to me, but it did seem to have a hint of citrus. Your nose will recognize it as Alien - it isn't an entirely different scent as other so-called flankers are. Same tang, same woods. I suppose this is only helpful for those who already know Alien well. For those of you who don't, I will say that it is a sophisticated tangy, almost citrus-y (but not too sharp) scent poised gorgeously on a softly woody base - I am not certain if there are wood notes listed officially, but I can detect a subtle impression of sheer soft woods. Though AEL is called an EDT, I honestly feel that this is comparable in dilution and quality to an EDP. Will purchase (I can't resist) - do try it if you love the original - this may be a good alternative for summertime.

UPDATE: If you buy a bottle, keep it upright at all costs! My bottle has a very slow leak where the upper and lower portions join. Other than that, it's fabulous.
