It immediately leaves my skin very smooth. But keep splashing water on my face 5-6 times can be pretty drying. As the water may wash off the skin's natural essential oils. Nevertheless, rice water comes free whenever I eat rice. So I will use it as long as rice is cooked at home.

I have the Memoirs of a Geisha edition, which I believe is the same as the standard minus packaging. This is the first powdered cleanser I've used, and I was surprised by how well it removed makeup and softened my skin. There is very little scent and a little goes a very long way. It isn't a must for me, but for a novelty product it's luxurious and nice.

I got the Geisha LE of the rice face wash for $4. The package is too bad. I have to use tap to cover most of the holes so that the powder does go everywhere when I open it. The rice powder itself is very fine and gental. I like the way it melts on the skin and take away oil. It does the right exfolite and it can be used even during spring when my skin is irratated and red. However it is pricy so I would not repurchase without good deal.

I love this face wash. Just the right amount of exfoliation, leaves no residue, and doesn't make my skin feel tight. I use cleansing oil first to remove mu, and then use this after. It's perfect.

I have the Memoirs of a Geisha version of this product. I love the packaging- the can looks adorable sitting on the shelf in my bathroom. I think the opening might be different on this version than on the regular Rice Face Wash- mine has a bunch of teeny holes so I have to shake it a few times to get enough product out. For actual cleansing purposes, I'm not really wild about it. It doesn't exfoliate enough for my tastes and I find a lot of makeup left on the cottonball when I use toner afterwards. I've also noticed some bumps from clogged pores on my forehead since using it. I'll finish the can off, but I wouldn't repurchase (especially not at that price- waaay too expensive!)

I am in love with rice beauty products - and when I saw this rice face powder, I tried it out. (Memoirs of a Geisha Rice Face Wash). I can see it working best with sensitive skin, and barely at all for combination or oily skin (I lean toward oily). Everyone is right about getting the right balance - it'st too hard, and the results are hit and miss. *First, it's about quantity. The right amount should come out when you first open and shake the contaner. Instead, you get a sift of powder everywhere because the container is not shaped properly for use. The powder is a superfine grain that is even finer than powdered sugar. I am not kidding. You will get more of a face wash consistency from powdered sugar and water than this product. So, either give the container it less holes, give it smaller holes, or make a slightly coarser product. Then, as you try to add water to the palm of your hand, mix it, and apply it - powder will escape your palm and CAN get into your eye. Has happened several times, and I am now at the point where I close my eyes while doing this. The lather is VERY minimal, the exfoliation is very mild, and I literally use this as my "wash before bed" wash (2x) because it would not clean me properly for day (and 1x is not enough). I prefer L'Academie's cleansing powder (targets excess sebum/oil in the skin).

I love this product. I have super sensitive skin, so this is a wonderful daily exfoliator. I use in in conjunction with my cleanser and find it works great. I wet/scrub my face as usual with my cleanser, then add the powder to the cleanser that is already on my face. This gives it an extra exfoliating boost and doesn't require me removing cleanser twice, which sometimes irritates my skin. This isn't a wonder exfoliator by any means; its very gentle. Like I said, its great for a daily use kind of product but I do use a stronger exfoliator twice a week to keep blackheads at bay. If the packaging was a bit better and the price a bit lower, I would be completely in love with this stuff.

I love this product. It makes my face bright and it feels really clean. I also have less breakouts. I only use it in the mornings as instructed. I think its too much to use 2 times a day.

I'm not sure if the regular Rice Face Wash ($35) is different from the Memoirs of a Geisha Rice Face Wash ($32), other than the packaging but I am reviewing the latter. I received a generous sample in a Fresh gift bag that was good enough for about 3 uses. Although I liked the soft exfoliation this wash gives, I much prefer Komenuka Bijin's rice facial grains formulation better. KB gives a creamier, richer lather and has thicker chunks of rice grain powder. Fresh's version is extremely light, so I can see it being used effectively by people with very sensitive skin. You need to use a lot of powder to get a sufficient lather and I didn't feel like my skin felt much softer after using this. In fact, it was slightly drier than before. My skin feels much more supple when I use KB. All in all, not a bad product but if you can get your hands on KB, you'll see the difference!

This stuff broke me out like crazy. my skin just flipped out! i don't know how a cleanser can manage to do this. the first time i tried it my cheeks got really irritated and got all red and blotchy. so i stopped using it for a while. then i started using it again..and my face was just covered with pimples. not those little zits. pimples. it was supposed to be a purging process(so said the lady at the mall) but i just couldn't bear to go on using it. it just wasn't working for me..

a cleanser doesnt foam at all (maybe i am not an expert of any kind of powdery cleanser, esp those Japanese brands), when i pour down a bit, it doesnt foam and feel like rubbing water onto my face; even when i repour and repour and mix with water, i cant make paste to do cleansing, i dont know which part of my face is cleansed which part isnt, really stuck up, dont know what to do with the remaining powder

I love Fresh, but this cleanser is just silly. It cleanses okay (I had to wash twice to get foundation off, but that's not unusual), and it exfoliates well... but I just couldn't get the hang of mixing the powder with water. It just takes too long for a product that's not all that special.
The container is cute, though, and while it seems expensive, a little goes a long way, so the cost isn't quite as outrageous as it first appears. I won't buy it again.

I wasn't crazy about this product. I like DHC's washing powder better and it's soo much cheaper but my favorite cleanser right now is Fresh's Cleansing Balm with Lemon Oil.

I used this while I was pregnant because my rosacea flared up so badly and it's supposed to be very mild. I was pleasantly surprised that this took off all my makeup whithout irritation. It gives a nice exfoliation with powder rather than grains and you only need a small amount. I agree that the packaging is annoying though. You have to gingerly shake the canister or you get about 10 times too much product in your hand.

This comes in powder form in a metal container. The design is very cumbersome- I always wasted product because too much would come out. Also, this does not foam up well, nor does it do a good job of cleaning your face. However, it does smell heavenly (light honeysuckle/peach scent) and is fun to use. I wouldn't repurchase because it's not worth almost $40 USD!

This is like Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant, but not as good. The packaging is cute, but it sucks. Way too much product comes out of the hole. It's just a decent cleanser and exfoliator, but the Dermalogica one is much better.

Although the price is a bit steep ($34 for 3.75 oz)the stuff lasts forever. I only need half a teaspoon to wash my face, and it leaves my face feeling clean (I'm prone to oily skin) without feeling stripped, and really soft.
Edit: Powder spills easily, not good for use in the morning when you're extra clumsy. Still leaves my skin feeling clean and soft, but am a bit bored with it now.

Very disappointed with this rice-enzyme based cleanser. I'm a religious user of Dermalogica Microfoliant, but decided to give this one a try because it's less hassle to purchase.

The Fresh cleanser smells wonderful, leaves your skin soft and foams up (a quality some people like in their cleansers). But you need a whole lot of it to wash your entire face, and on top of that it doesn't give your skin the same glow that similar products give you.

It is considerably cheaper than the Microfoliant and Komenuka Bijin's Washing Grains, but I'd rather spend the money on those two products. You need twice as much of the Fresh cleanser to do the same job as the other two, only half as well. continued >>

Though I really didn't even need it since I have a staple facial cleanser, I decided to try a sample of this. It was a bit of a risk since even the slightest amount of dust can make me break out into hives, but I figured it seemed gentle enough. I have to say that, despite the ridiculous price and poor packaging, I really do like this wash. It leaves my skin unbelievably baby soft and smooth, and I like the unique feeling of the rice powder against my skin. It's non-abrasive, thereby acting as a very mild exfoliator. The scent is also mild and surprisingly caused no reactions on my skin, so I was able to enjoy the entire sample jar without problems. I don't know if I'll buy this but it's definitely a product I'll keep in mind if my current cleanser somehow starts to fail me!
