Had I known Deep Red looks just like MAC Dubonnet, I would not have purchased Dubonnet, since I already had Deep Red. I truly cannot tell the difference between the two. This lip pencil is surprising super pigmented and moisturizing, it applies smoothly and wears well. I think this was like $5 at Ulta. Awesome product for the money!

To me, the packaging resembles the color of the product very well. The pictures above to me, just don't do it justice... Or maybe I just put too much on to look like a rocker chick :-) Once you use it a lot, the application isn't too shabby. You can use a wedge-shaped sponge to even out the edges, which works very well for me. Overall, I think this product is awesome. Long wear, great colour, and very moisturizing!

I like every Jumbo Lip Pencil I have bought. I love deep red because it's so wearable, and not too bright. I use the black Revlon sharpener with mine, and it works great. It's made for rubber wood pencils like these. This is the same shade as the round lipstick in Snow White. Only it lasts alot longer. These are creamy, but they set and have some lasting power. I line and then fill in my lips. A little goes a long way, I only have to fill in my lower lip and then press them together.

I feel I have to use a plus-minus format to get my point across.
+ Very creamy and moist, much like a hydrating lipstick
+ Great color, warm red, exactly what I was looking for
- The big tip/general size makes two things difficult: sharpening and application precision. I'm considering depotting it and just using a lip brush to apply, since it would take care of both those grievances.
+ Great price, $3.99 at Ulta, and they were running a buy 2 get 2 free special today.

Great price for a great product! Goes on smooth and creamy, and lasts a long time. For me, the color seemed more like a deep hot-pink red. More blue understones. No orangey-ness. But it definitely does not have those burgundy/wine undertones that I would normally associate with a deep red.
You will have lovely "Marilyn Monroe" looking lips!

Okay, so I've been looking for a red color lipstick because of the recent trend. I was nervous, I've never been able to wear bright colors without feeling self conscious! So, I figured what the heck...for $4 if I didn't like this pencil then it wouldn't be a big waste. I have other NYX jumbo lip pencils and love the creamy texture and staying power. Well this turned out to be a beautiful red for my complexion. I think this would work well with many different skin tones. Yes, it's definitely red but a nice warm red. I'm really liking NYX products!

I have been on a hunt recently for the perfect red lipstick. I love anything forties, and I have always wanted to be able to do that classic red lip. However, being a warm-toned PPP, bright reds sometimes come off as more "geisha-girl" than "fab forties gal". Recently, I tried NARS' "cruella" pencil, and lo and behold, it was creamy, sophisticated, and the perfect red. In fact, it was practically perfect in every way--then I looked at the pricetag (not that $24 is highway robbery or anything...I just have a hard time paying that for something I'll wear as more of an occasional thing). So, undeterred, off to ULTA I went, and there I came across the NYX jumbo lip pencil in deep red. It looked really similar, so for $3 +/-, I thought "why not?" In fact, it is very similar to the NARS velvet matte pencil. A bit creamier, and a bit more on the warm/brown side. I just top it off with a layer of bright cherry red lipliner (I think it is by Milani? just any cheap red lipliner will do), and it brings up the color and keeps creaminess in check all day. Overall, I still am saving up for the NARS, but this works great for now.

I got this for $3.99 at Ulta but it turned out to be free as I'd bought 2 other NYX products, for which this deal was present. This is a red that's rich, creamy, lasts and lasts, and very pigmented. Not for the faint of heart! It is red red on me, on the warmer side. Great to have in one's handbag instead of a lipstick--and, no need for lipliner!

I got this for $1.99 at a mom & pop beauty supply. Great deal for a dark plummy red lipstick. I use it sparingly as a stain. continued >>
