I use the cream and not the ointment. I found if you apply it the day the acne was popped it will cause it to become a whitehead again. If you apply it 24hrs later it won't. When you apply it, make sure to rub it in really well. I apply this 3 times consecutively in the same spot. Don't rub it in hard just gently. I do this every day until I am satisfied. This causes the scar to fade a lot faster for me.

Really like it for zits

I have tried every type of neosporin the patented technology and the pain and relive one. I have mainly only used and have experience with trying this for the face after having a pimple popping episode to avoid scaring. Now here is the thing about neosporin. A few years back neosporins original formula was the best to use in this case. I hate their new patented technology, it really does help the wound heal faster but it doesn't help prevent scaring much the old version helped with the scaring to a point were there was no absolute trace of were the scar was. It was amazing ! This new formula gives me a n itchy rash I actually feel it makes my wounds heal with more of a scar like a purple scar. I will still use it for rare occasions when I just need for something to heal quick but that's all.

This is a great little quick fix for stubborn, painful angry zits, whether it's a pimple that just won't seem to budge or a spot that you've been obsessively picking and squeezing.

I had an annoying breakout near the corner of my mouth and over the past week I've been using different spot treatments to get the darn thing to shrink, or at least come to a head. I've used benzoyl peroxide, a sulfur mask, tea tree oil, salicylic acid, and bentonite clay. Needless to say that after a few days my pimple looked very dry, red, and flaky. I decided to give my skin a little break and try some Neosporin ointment to soothe the irritation. I did this right before bed and covered the spot with a Bandaid. By next morning, the swelling had gone down quite a bit, and the skin around the zit looked smoother. I was pleasantly surprised! I did it again the following night, to see more improvement the following morning. Less swollen, less red, softer skin. By this time, the breakout was much easier to cover with makeup.

While the ointment yielded wonderful results, I DO NOT consider this a long-term solution for acne sufferers. As other reviewers have mentioned, long-term use could do more harm than good, causing the skin to become resistant to antibiotics and make it difficult to fight off infections in the future. Yikes. There's a reason this isn't marketed as a regular skincare treatment.

For me, this is a once-in-a-while last resort / emergency fix. It kills bacteria, moisturizes, and heals the skin very quickly. So while I can see how this is a miracle product for a lot of people, it's still important to consider its long-term effects. I do recommend it as a quick fix every now and then, but for something you can use everyday all over your face, stick to products that are specifically for acne.

I used to love this for Pimples when I first discovered the reviews on it for that online.
However with time it does make things worse, for me I would notice another pimple or more.. of the horrible cyst or whitehead kinds in the same exact area I applied it in the weeks to come.
I did some googling and even the cream is FILLED WITH HIGHLY COMEDOGENIC INGREDIENTS!!! like Emulsyfying wax, MINERAL OIL! (the worst zit culprit) , etc etc!!!
Just keep an eye for it changing it's effectiveness on ya, and make sure to apply smallest amount possible with bandaids would probably help (since then when sleeping you won't get it on your pillowcase which then gets it on other parts of your face which then causes more pimples !)

I am kind of on the fence with this one. I had a whitehead that needed to be extracted. So I carefully pricked it with a needle and with little pressure (pressing outwards, not inwards) the gunk came out. So I had heard reviews that this will help to stop the infection or whatever from coming back. So I applied this to it, and left it on for the day. When I wiped it off, the area it was applied to had turned a red/brown color. And it looks like the remains is turning into a scab. So I am not going to apply this to it anymore in the fear of it turning an even darker brown color. But it did help to stop the infection from coming back.

This is a very effective and useful product. I use this on any cut to prevent infection. I have very dry skin and use this if my lips become too cry and painful. It both soothes the irritation caused by dryness, and helps prevent infection. I really love this when I get a minor burn in the kitchen. If I use this right away, not only is that awful pain which usually lingers for hours, even with ice, gone, but no blister after. I very rarely break out during that time of the month, but when I do I use this on the blemish too to insure no scarring either. I much prefer this to the ointment as that seems to retain heat.

I asked my friend to purchase this for me when she was in the States last year. I have minor issues with acne. I don't get many but when I do I get the extremely large pus-filled ones. Not very attractive!
I am a habitual picker. As much as I hate it and I know that I should do it, I always seem to taunt my pimples. I just had a large pimple under my nose, waited for the pus to dry out and the skin began to flake off. I used a tissue to pick it off (I feel awful even writing about this!) but immediately put Neosporin Pain Relief on it, to help prevent scarring.

Quality products deserve to get their due. This is my shoutout to Neosporin + Pain relief cream!!! I have been addicted to lip balm for over twenty years and I apply it over a dozen times per day and night. I started out using Avon lip balms, Vicks and Mentholatum then went on Carmex and Blistex binges that lasted for ages. In the last several years I've added Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Creme, Kiehl's in the tubes and Karite Gold Shea Butter balm (my up until now Holy Grail) but they had disappeared last I checked. For the last several months I've been using Kiehl's exclusively and decided I would probably go back to plain old petroleum jelly. Today I was having trouble squeezing out anymore of my Kiehl's vanilla and just going cold-turkey wasn't working. My lips were dry, peeling, painful and ugly. So I picked at them and made it worse. I used the regular Neosporin ointment and it helped, but not much. Better than nothing, for sure!! I even tried olive oil. Then I went to google and once again, makeupalley.com came to the rescue. I've had this stuff all along, it's one of my medicine cabinet staples. But I have never used it on chapped lips or pimples. This was an interesting lesson for me to learn because I'm temporarily unemployed and and I've spent so much money on lip balm and pimple spot remedies. I'm 37 and I think I can finally get over this expensive lip balm addiction!!! And as a bonus, I can make out with my boyfriend tomorrow and not feel self conscious about having scaly lips!!

Great stuff, had a small cut on my finger recently, i just dabbed this on it w/ a bandage and it was completly better the next day.

On rare occasions I get a little heavy handed with Retin A/Renova and my face starts to peel a little too much I put a thin layer of generic Neosporin all over my face and by the morning it feels so much better.

I have two tubes of Neosporin at home, one at the office, and one in my purse. I put it on everything. Everytime I get a cut or blister I put a little dab of this stuff and put a band-aid on it, and it heals really fast. Also, after I've popped a pimple (sooo bad, I know), I put this on it after cleansing and it eliminates the redness and helps the blemish completely heal within a couple of days. Definitely HG.

I use this after ive popped a pimple and after it's been cleaned with benzoyl peroxide. It clears mine within 24 hours to the point it's just a small red mark that goes away very quickly. Also alleviates the pain of waxing and soothes the irritation. I do the majority of my own waxing and sometimes I do lift some skin and this stuff will clear it up in 2-3 days as opposed to 5-7 days. Works great for almost anything!

This is review is for plain ole neosporin.
I use this after I pop a zit. I swab it with H2O2, pierce it with disinfected lance, and squeeze with latex gloves on. Then I dab more H2O2 and then rub in a tiny bit of neosporin. I was scared to try it at first but it works so good. The morning after I use this, I'm usually left with just a flat red mark that is easily concealed with makeup. Sometimes I need to reapply the next day and that takes care of it.

i tried this as a spot treatment on regular inflamed pimples and was not impressed at all. however recently i tried it on a oozing pimple that i had just popped and this worked wonders. i applied neo at bedtime and put a small circle band-aid over the area just like the reviewers below advise. when i woke up the next morning and took the band-aid off i was amazed! you couldnt even tell that just the day before i had a huge whopper of a zit there. it did take a few more uses before the spot completely healed. however i wasnt left with a dark spot like usual. perhaps this is because i used the ointment which has cocoa butter in it.

I worked for a dermatologist while I was in college, and patients would call and complain about big zits (like a big zit was a reason to be seen today, cancer yes, zit....). He would always tell them to pop it once it came to a head (don't force it!), clean the area and put neosporin on it. I thought this was crazy, but it works! I just use the generic for neosporin, clean my face, extract the pimple, wash again and put neosporin on. Its gone in days rather than weeks. Just for comparison, I had two on my chin, one I left alone and one I did the extraction / neosporin with. The one left alone took 7 weeks to heal and another 6 to get rid of the dark spot, the other took 2 weeks total to go away.

When I am bad and pick at my pimples, I always dab this on my self afflicted wounds and cover the area with a band aid before I go to bed. I know I look ridiculous when I have 5 band aids stuck on my face at bedtime, but this ointment and band aid treatment has kept me from getting scars and helps prevent scabby red spots so its worth the effort!

Works great! I feel that it heals faster than the ointment formula.
