Edit: use this almost every night out Since i got it, in one way or another. Sooo sexy, esp with mac star violet thrown in somewhere.
.
I've down these looks with it so far:
Smoky/intense: purple all over till crease, blended out into angled shape, black on angled brush to line, black liner on inner corner, shimmery lilac eyeshadow to highlight . Pixiwoo did a very similar look with this duo that looks amazing on my eyes (brown).
Fresh/everyday: primer, skin coloured. Black on outer third and crease, extended out and blended well. Purple shade above black, almost softening it. Inner half of eyelid is totally 'blank' ie skin coloured, or u could use something like mac blanc white.
.
Both of these look beautiful, love the quality of these shadows because so little effort is needed to make it look good, i think i will be using this a lot esp to create the 'fresh' look paired with a berry gloss... I know it's premature to write a review but i wanted to record the 2 looks i did for future reference cz my memory sucks. Plus i looove this duo and wanted to gush. Get it! The reviewers who were disappointed about the blue flash barely showing up, you guys oughta swatch it in person. Tht's what i did and i liked the cranberry colour more than if it were true to pan. I guess cuz i like deep colours. Definitely plan to buy more Nars e/s instead of blowing money on lame d/s stuff which takes so much work to look decent.

I bought this so I can use both colors for a smokey look and as liner. Since it's rather pricey, I wanted to be able to use both colors. The purple comes up more red than purple on my NC30-NC35 skin. The darker color turned out beautifully. But I couldn't justify keeping this if I can just use the dark color since I have so many similar colors. I exchanged this for NARS Melusine, where the dark purple shade turned out just as I wanted and the lighter purple in Melusine is used as highlight or allover lid color. I just gotta keep searching for my perfect NARS dark eyeshadow liner still!

The purple side of this duo is difficult to work with, no doubt about it, but this duo makes the most stunning, sultry smoky eye and the effort is absolutely worth it. It is expensive but worth every penny, a definite repurchase.

I'm sad to say this but I was pretty disappointed in this product. It looked amazing when I swatched it at the store with my finger. When I brought it home and tried applying the purple with a brush, it looked like an eggplant wine colour which I'm not crazy about. I'm not one to shy away from colour AT ALL so I truly mean it when I say it makes me look like I was socked in the eye. I really want to make it work so I'm going to try to get Too Faced glitter glue or another NARS cream shadow that I can layer underneath...

I got this today and I fell in love with it. I used a MAC fresco rose paint pot as a base and put this on top-the puple on my lids and the slate color in the crease and lined my eyes with it. I always love the blendability of the NARS duos. I am very very happy with this purchase. The colors are beautiful!!
The colors are still gorgeous but I notice that the purple shade seems to always go on patchy (could be my brush...hmmmm)....over my UDPP and Mac PP. besides that its still an amazing duo

I really do love this duo, the only down side is that it is a bit hard to work with the plum side. The black is super pigmented with beautiful silver glitter, its my favorite black shadow, but the plummy side is the naughty side. It has a really hard time sticking to your eyelid without a sticky cream base, and for me UDPP didnt work too well, it came out patchy and u can notice that i had applied my primer uneven, a really nice sticky blue or purple base will really help the color apply more true to color and when u get it right, its the perfect duo, so beautiful. I would buy this again but probably only for the black side :)

This duo really brings out my eye colour! In a pan it looks like a bright fuchsia purple with blue flash and the dark shade is warm charcoal with multi coloured shimmer. I wore it with UDPP but unfortunately blue shimmer didn't showed up. Instead it looked like a beautiful deep plum shade. I wore it with shimmery light pink eye shadow in the inner conners and just outside the crease. It really brought out pink and red shades in this complex colour. I wore darker shade in the outer v and it completed the whole look very nicely. I didn't have any issues with bleandability.
EDIT: I figured out how you can re-create pan colour of purple shade. I've applied it over purple eye liner and the blue pearl showed up nicely.

I didnt like this at all. I found the purple extremely hard to work and not true to color in the pan. I tried it with so many bases, but every single time it came up chalky, uneven, and ugly. The blue shimmer doesn't even translate on the eye.
The charcoal side was the complete opposite. It's an absolutely beautiful color. Blended great with no problems. Thats the only reason I give this 2 stars.

I have to say, I was very disappointed with this duo at first. This was the first eyeshadow duo I got from NARS and it almost put me off buying anymore shadows, but I did get more and was absolutely loved the later purchases - Rajasthan and Cordura, which i use pretty much every day. This duo was sort of left aside and I didn't like it because the purple side, which looks so great in the pan, purple with really pretty blue shimmer, just shows up as a dirty plum colour when I put it on. I tried using it wet, and that didn't work. I tried using a plum colour base, and it just made it more plum and the blue just won't show up.
However, I just tried this shadow again today, and I absolutely love it now! This is what I did, instead of using a plum or pink base, I used a more neutral cream base with slight pink undertone, I used Barry m's shimmering eye and lip crayon in No.5 Marshmallow. It's a very light pink colour, very shimmery, and I just used that as a cream base, then used my fingers to apply the purple eurydice shadow and then used the dark grey colour in the out corners and the crease. I think the cream shadow helps the shadows to stick on, and control the shadows, so the blue shimmer would show up. It looks very sexy and sophisticated, and totally wearable, and the blue shimmer shows up perfectly, it's very much like urban decay's ransom eyeliner colour, it's just very very pretty, and I think this would work for day as well, if you just have the colours closer to the lashline, then I think I would wear this during the day.
If you have this shadow and wasn't loving it, do try it with a nice light cream shadow base and you'll be surprised, great duo!! I love NARS so much!!!

Eurydice - the enticing, graceful nymph of Greek mythology who vanished behind her lover, Orpheus, as he attempted to bring her back from the Underworld after being struck by a fatal snake bite. He was not allowed to look back at her, but alas he wanted to see the face of his loved one following him back to life... and she disappeared back into the depths of an eternally dark world.

This venomous NARS duo absolutely personifies the toxic romance in this mythological story of Eurydice. The colors are supreme, holding a dangerously sexy gunmetal gray that translates to a smoky black charcoal on the eye, as well as an intensely poisonous purple that will bring the color in your eyes to an extreme glow. Oh yes - the perfect smoky eye. The charcoal seems to have multi-colored micro specks at a close look, but generally looks like minimal silver shimmer to the naked eye. As for the purple, there is a fuschia undertone and it is adorned with sexy sapphire blue sheen, which actually translates onto my eyes! This duo is INTENSE. Just oozes femme fatale. Not for good girls ;)

The pigmentation is a dream, with or without primer/base. I would suggest using it without primer, because then it will show it's true colors. Sometimes the primer makes dark eyeshadows to be even darker, losing its vibrancy. The texture of these shadows are outstanding! They feel so creamy, therefore making them easily blendable. A little goes a long way, which is awesome considering how expensive these duos are at retail price. I don't want to run out of this too soon! I also want to mention the lasting power - amazing. I work laboriously as a waitress in a busy restaurant, and these do not fade. It's incredible. I think NARS makes these shadows with magic.

This duo is HOT. HOT, HOT, HOT. One side has a purple with a hint of fuschia to it and dark blue shimmer, the other is a black with a hint of grey and colorful shimmer. Paired together they look friggin hot! I threw this in my shopping basket the moment I saw it. Well, I didn't actually *throw* it, it would have broke, but you know what I mean:P. This is smokey and bold all in one. The color you see in the pan is the color you get. If I don't feel like wearing primer I don't have to, It's so so so pigmented. It's insane how pigmented these are. Ugh, I can't get over how sexy this duo is. I'm gonna go to back flips now.

This is another winner for me. I got this color when I exchanged sugarland and of course came home very excited to try it on. I tried the purple color all over the lid and the darker color in the crease. That was okay. But the true beauty of this duo (for me) shows best as a smokey eye. I used it over my NYX jumbo eye pencil in Blackbean. Starting with the darker color on part of the lid then using the purplish color above it and overlapping. Then blend out with MAC's Vibrant Grape. I was in love. I definitely saw the blue reflects in the lighter color. Oh and don't forget a inner corner highlight (I used MAC's Vanilla pigment). I can't wait until I actually wear this outside.
These colors are dark and very pigmented but very very blendable. If you know how to work it, you can't go wrong. Yayyy NARS!!!

I just bought this from Sephora and tried it out once. I don't like it the purple side doesn't show up well and once mixed with the black shimmer it loses the vibrancy on my eyes. I believe it will need a dark base such as MAC Artifact paintpot. Must try again with that. Plus my first look attempted with this duo looked like a black-eye, not in the sexy way either. I looke like someone punched me. Must work on it some more.
Also I believe I have a few colors that are very similar to this but I need further testing to be sure. I may end up bringing this back to Sephora. The new line of Maybelline quad eyeshadows in Amythest Smokes the Lid and Outer Corner colors look very similar to the colors in the palette. Also I have the NYX trio in Lake Moss which also has a sparkly purple, sparkly blue and a sparkly black. I must test with these to be sure but in the pans they look like dupes. And both cost about a fraction of the price. Its very expensive eye shadow, $32.
However aside from all of that, these shadows are intensely pigmented and are very smooth on application. I don't notice fallout.

Gorgeous combo. I usually only love one of the shades in any palette/duo, but I love both of these. Not a sheer wash of color, these two pack a punch but are wonderfully blendable. The dark color goes on truer than my MAC Carbon. Very happy with this purchase.

I love it. I like how versatile it is. I can use it day or night. Yes the colors are very pigmented but depending on the brush you use (yes it matters) it's the effect you get. I love it. It's just a bit pricey.

I was immediately attracted to Eurydice when I saw the Nars Xmas 09 range. It was the most unique among the 3 new eyeshadows and did not strike me as the most practical one. In fact, it is even slightly challenging, and needs careful blending since it is very pigmented. So far I have created very sexy smoky eyes, and the looks can be either demure or wild. Sometimes I would use icy pink colour underneath, or at the corners of eyes, and a fuschia pink to help blend the darker colours. The only slight shame is the blue shimmer in the purple side does not transfer to the eyes.
Colour description: The left side is dark purple-ish red with blue shimmer and the right is charcoal grey-black with silver shimmer.
I wouldn't buy this product again because it will take me forever to go through the current one, but I definitely do not regret buying this product. Thumbs up to Nars!

this e/s is my new love! got this duo and brousse together from a lovely MUA member in the US.
I always *love* purple and NARS jolie poupee is my HG.
I agree with the previous reviewers that the purple side does look a bit like sketch but its still a good color! and i love their quality, its soooooooooo much better than jolie poupee (as the left shade is not very pigmented and fades after few hours), the texture is soooo smooth and blendable, its so pigmented, I was like WOW when i first put it on my primed eyes.
would definitely purchase again if i ever run out though its not likely

As previous reviewers have said, the purple shade has a lovely saphire sheen in the pan that does not translate to the eye. Wetting the brush did not help at all for me. The purple color is more of a burgundy that reminds me of Mac's sketch eye shadow. The charcoal shade is the star of this palette, shimmery, pigmented and ultra blendable. Today I wore: mac fashion e/s (starflash silvery blue color on lid), purple side in the crease, charcoal shade to define the crease. The look was really pretty.

Gorgeous duo from NARS.
The shimmery charcoal is incredibly pretty, but what makes this duo stand out for me is the purple. It looks like a slightly shimmery deep purple until you swipe it & catch a glimpse of the blue iridescent sheen. So far, I've only used the purple dry & whilst it looked stunning on, the blue sheen didn't show up on my eyes. I'm going to try applying with a damp brush to get the sheen to show through.
Either way though, the purple is lovely. Looks great when combined with the charcoal for a smoky eye with a difference.
As always with the NARS duos, the packaging is fantastic.
Wear time is great (I use TFSI) and the pigmentation & blendability of these shadows is wonderful.
One of my favourite duos so far. continued >>
