Lip Gloss -MAC -Spice

on 7/15/2018 10:13:00 AM

Back in the days I was addicted to vgv lipglass even tho it was sticky but I went through so many of them. Then I strayed from Mac and never wore a lipglass again. Somehow last summer I saw a Japanese model wear spice lipglass on ig and it looked so good on her that I went to buy one for myself (I’m chinese so our skin tone almost same). Since then I’ve been wearing this lipglass a lot but especially in summer. Is a nice nude but is sexy. Doesn’t wash me out and add just a hint of glossiness. Oh and the lipglass is no longer sticky as back in the days lol

Primer/ Corrector -Urban Decay -All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

on 7/15/2018 9:16:00 AM

- Stopped makeup melting (moving, becoming patchy)

- Foundation and concealer still set into fine lines (no matter what foundation or concealer i used, and i tried multiple ones)
- It says that it will give you "smoother looking skin and vibrant makeup"1 but it didn't appear to do this for me

I've read a lot of reviews that give this product a very positive review but i just didn't find that it did enough for its price. Maybe it just doesn't work for me.

Lips -Unlisted Brand -Motte Flowfushi Lip 38*C

This lip treatment/gloss is supposed to bring your lip temperature up or down to 38 degrees Celsius, the temperature which according to the maker is the ideal temperature for your lips to be at their plumpest and most hydrated. I got mine in the bright orange color which supposedly brings up your lip temperature by 5 degrees. I can`t say that this feels hot when I apply it or at any time really. It doesn`t tingle, it doesn`t plump my lips, in fact it doesn`t really do anything more than any other gloss I have ever worn. The color is okay, a little too sheer for my taste, but it wears all right, it doesn`t bleed or feel gloopy. Right now in Kyoto it`s about 38-39 degrees Celsius, so I`m not sure if I my lips would benefit from this particular treatment; I probably should`ve opted for the -5 degrees treatment, but that one is a minty green color that didn`t really appeal to me. The insert suggests wearing them at night, but why would I wear a tinted lip product at night and smear it all over my pillows?! In Japan this retails at 1600 JPY, about 16 USD, so imo it`s too pricy for what it is and does.

Cleansers -Simple -Hydrating Cleansing Oil

First ever cleansing oil for me, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. Does the job, I wouldn’t say it gets rid of 100% of the makeup on my face (also depends on how much I have on that day), but it does remove the majority of it. I follow up with a face wash and toner anyway so it’s not a major problem. The bottle recommends using 3-4(?) drops of it, I don’t know what size drops they mean but that is far from enough. A good teaspoon size amount seems to do the trick for me. I’ve had it for 3 weeks now and use it most nights and I still have around 85% of the bottle left. I like how light and gentle it is, doesn’t feel disgustingly greasy like I expected it to be-especially on my oily t-zone, but rather hydrating and nourishing. Has that unscented type of scent (you know which one). Great price. (€9.99 from Boots Ireland) I can always depend on Simple’s products not to irritate my ridiculously sensitive skin.

Polishes -OPI -Don't Cry Over Spilled Milkshakes

on 7/15/2018 7:59:00 AM

OPI's Don't Cry Over Spilled Milkshakes is from the 2018 Grease Collection.
It is almost white with a pale green cast to it.
The only positive thing I can say about it is that it looks fine after 3 coats and a top coat of Seche Vite.
The last few OPI's have been awful! They need to go back to the original formulas.
White is always hard to apply but some are much easier than others.
Don't Cry..... is one of the worst!
Very difficult to apply, it's thick, yet runny at the same time.
The first coat is horrible, very streaky. The second coat doesn't cover well, and doesn't self level.
The third coat is acceptable, but it looks thick...almost like fake nails.
I've found 3 coats doesn't last well, it either chips easily or the entire polish comes off the nail at once.
The Seche Vite resued this mess for me, but I know I will remove it in a day or two.

Brows -BeneFit Cosmetics -24 hour brow setter

on 7/15/2018 7:54:00 AM

Finally, the brow setting product that can hold lift up my downward growing brow hair and keep them staying up!
Anastasia clear gel did nothing for me, except making my brows very stiff. Benefit doesn't make brow feeling stiff. It's a clear gel that does the job of lifting up brow hair due to the amazing brush shape. Spooley brushes never work for me, brushing my brows with the spooley does nothing, it's not precise enough. Benefit 24 Hour Brow setter has a dual-sided wand with short rubber bristles on one side and longer bristles on another. The short bristles are designed to shape stubborn brow hair, the long bristles are good to add more product.
The gel doesn't flake, doesn't give any color, and works from morning till night.
Awesome job Benefit! The Holy Grail product!

Powder -COVERGIRL -Clean Normal Skin Pressed Powder

on 7/15/2018 7:47:00 AM

I recently bought this to replace my Rimmel London pressed powder because I felt like it was clogging my pores. I really like the coverage and it seems to stay put. I also like how it is non-comedogenic. It doesn’t feel heavy or look cakey, and the color matches my skin well.

Self Tanners -Jergens -Natural Glow Instant Sun (Deep Bronze) Sunless Tanning Mousse

on 7/15/2018 7:43:00 AM

This stuff is the best! I am fair skinned and use the deep dark color because I feel like it gives the best color. I use a mitt to apply because if you don’t, the bronzer is tough to get off of your palms. Jergens (lotion & foam) makes hands down the best cheap self tanners!

Hair Color -Wella -Koleston Perfect

on 7/15/2018 7:28:00 AM

I have been coloring my hair at home for many years, and I have used many boxed hair dyes from the drugstore (mainly Garnier Nutrisse and L'Oreal Excellence), and also from Sally's (Ion). I found a store by me that sold Wella Koleston Perfect, and figured why not try it, I'd heard good things about it.
And well, the hype is real!

I bought 10.8, a very light pearl blonde, to retouched my roots which are about a level 5-6. I used it with a 30% developer, and I was able to achieve a very light, non-brassy result! Much lighter than I ever got with the dyes I'd been using.

You can tell this product is better quality from the mixing stage - it is much creamier than most, spreads really easily and it expands, once on the hair, for awesome coverage. It's hard to miss spots with this product.

Hair feels in great condition, is shiny and healthy looking.

The only "con" (not really a con!) is that the tube is a bit difficult to squeeze, but oh well. And I had to use the whole tube, usually I can do half/half but this only comes in 2 oz.

Price-wise, funny enough, it is only about $2 more expensive than d/s hair color, so needless to say this will be my go-to hair color going forward.

Lotions/ Creams -St. Ives -Oatmeal and Shea butter

on 7/15/2018 7:18:00 AM

Good value, smells good, creamy but not greasy. Skin is moisturized but doesn’t stay too moisturized... I would prefer it does though. It works great, packaging needs improvement, otherwise it’s a nurturing, comforting scent that does the work.

Moisturizers -Naruko -Raw Jobs Tears Supercritical CO2 Whitening Night Gelly

on 7/15/2018 6:59:00 AM

Hm, I really wanted to love this product.
I have combination, acne prone skin.
I think it does a good job at moisturizing which I desperately need but it leaves a horrible dry film all over my face and neck after I wake up. I can literally rub it off. Apart from that, I havent seen special improvements in whitening or pore minimizing as it claims. I have only used it twice so far since I don't love it, but I hope to see improvements with continued use.
At least it doesn't seem to cause breakouts.

Masks -InnisFree -Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask

on 7/15/2018 6:55:00 AM

I never buy pore clay masks because I am skeptical of them, however I used this because it was given to me as a sample. I had 3-4 little small white pimples forming on the tip of my nose from touching my nose today, and I remembered I had this as a sample so I immediately smeared it all over my face.
First, the texture of it is quite nice and thick, and very workable. The sample had more than ample amount to cover my whole face and then some. I let it sit for about 20 minutes until it was completely dry and washed it off.
The results were actually quite impressive. Before putting the mask on, I had a bunch of small sebum(?) whitehead bumps in the middle of my forehead, under my eyes, around and on my nose, and under my lip. I could feel them when I ran my fingers over my face. To my surprise, my face is much much smoother now. I would say it improved the small bumps about 85%. I only have a few stubborn ones in those areas. Most of them are gone and my skin feels much smoother to the touch. I have no idea how it happened but I'm very impressed.
It did leave my skin very dry though, and my undereyes started to get red from the dryness. I followed up with a Aveda Exfoliant toner on a cotton pad which helped wipe away some of the excess after washing. I have another sample, and if it proves successful a second time, I will consider purchasing.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand -Olaplex #5 Conditioner

on 7/15/2018 6:45:00 AM

It is rare that something wows me when it comes to hair products, because my hair is genetically pouffy, thin, and I also damaged it for years with coloring and heat. Even worse after my last set of fusion extensions, which ripped it off and left it lifeless and just blah.
I had Olaplex 1 and 2 used a few times at various salons, it was ok. I bought Olaplex 3 a couple times and that was completely useless for me, did nothing.
But I still had to try the conditioner, well I will eventually buy the shampoo too, but for starters I wanted to see what the conditioner is all about.

I am really impressed. I used it twice so far, and I can say that I have never, ever gotten such nice results from a conditioner before!
My hair actually has weight now! It doesn't feel as rough as it normally does after blow drying, and when I run my hand through it it feels healthier and thicker. Like, I can tell some repairing has taken place!

The product is very creamy and spreads easily, and the scent is very faint. They say to leave it on for 3 minutes, but I leave it a bit longer, depending on how much time I have available.

I do use my regular leave-ins afterwards, but I will maybe try using a tiny bit of this conditioner as a leave-in, see what happens.

Anyway, I am now extremely tempted to buy the matching shampoo as well. And I have a feeling these 2 will be the only hair washing products I will be using going forward, together with some toning shampoo.

The only con is the price, which is pretty steep given the size of the bottles, but hey, if it actually works.... it's worth it.

Treatments (Face) -Aveda -botanical kinetics exfoliant

on 7/15/2018 6:44:00 AM

I have combination dry oily, and acne prone skin. I got this for the little bumps on my forehead, chin and undereyes. I've used it twice a day, morning and night, for a week and a half so far. I use shiseido cotton pads to wipe my face and neck with the product.
I will say that it leaves me face feeling ultra clean and satiny. Oil production has decreased and my acne has subsided a bit. It's helped maybe 35% with the small bumps as well but not enormously. It's quite impressive because I don't have a long skincare routine. Apart from washing, I've only used this product and maybe a face mask/ sleeping mask twice a week for the past week and a half or so and I do feel an improvement.
It does run out pretty quick. I reckon it'll last you just shy of a month if you use it twice a day. It goes for about $35 in Taipei at the moment so lower cp value. Much cheaper in the US.

Cleansers -Neutrogena -Visibly Clear 2-in-1 wash mask

on 7/15/2018 6:32:00 AM

This doesn’t do anything to reduce breakouts, rather it causes them - tenfold!! It’s absolutely full of alcohol and if you’re anyway prone to breakouts avoid avoid avoid. This product doubled the breakout on my chin and caused rash style bumps after a week of use. I honestly don’t know what I was thinking. It’s currently in the bin and I’ve turned to the environ range to get my skin back in order. It’s worth spending more on trusted salon brands recommended by actual skin care professionals. These over the counter washes are just a marketing ploy. More often than not they’ll leave your skin feeling a lot worse. Don’t risk it. Never again.
