Treatments (Face) -Deciem -The Ordinary Alpha Lipoic Acid Serum

I could barely believe the fantastic reviews around this product, but for the price I had to try it myself. I’m not disappointed at all. Only two or three drops of this thin liquid twice a week does some great stuff for my skin! It doesn’t sting at all as some acids do, and my skin seems clearer, smoother, and brighter in the morning.

Treatments (Face) -Deciem -The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane

I wanted to go ahead and write a review as I purchased almost a dozen Ordinary products to change up my skincare routine and try some new things. I have been using this and the 100% squalane product, and I would say that if your skin is used to acids and is tolerant, just go ahead and only purchase the retinol in squalane! I find both to be just as hydrating as the next, and obviously the retinol product has the added advantage of having retinol. I haven’t experienced any purging or peeling of any kind and because of this, jumped right into using it multiple nights per week. I have not noticed any anti aging effects or any effects on the fine lines on my forehead, but the whole line together has certainly made my skin feel brighter, clearer, smoother, and heal faster than before!

This is one of those super confusing products that on first application has the potential to be deemed useless. You know what I mean? With more sensory products such as oils, masks or rich creams some basic part of you goes "ooh that feels like its doing something". Where as this Hyaluronic Acid serum, which is pretty much scentless and has a gloopy transparent appearance when dropped out of its pipette, immediately sinks in to your skin and your skin just feels, well, normal. Being that it's a water based product it completely absorbs and dries to leave your skin feeling as naked and fresh as it does straight after cleansing. But do not be fooled. It's packed with clever science and is a real hero product.

I looooove this stuff! The key to hyaluronic acid serum/ gels it’s to layer them with a moisturizer, oil, cream etc to seal in the water. I was using the Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid B5 serum, and while I liked it a lot, this is giving me even nicer results. I can even put it on my lips and eyelids! Fun tip, put a bit on your lips, let it dry down a bit, and then pop a gloss or balm on top. Et voilà! No more lip lines and plumped up lips!

My skin: combination/dehydrated with hormonal and sometimes stress-related acne that I have a hard time not picking at.

Now, to preface, I'm not sure exactly what combination of products I'm using is actually doing the work at the moment. I have an idea, of course, but I think it's a combination. Either way, I haven't had skin this nice and clear since I got a severe infection, bordering on sepsis, a couple of years ago and was put on massive amounts of antibiotics. That cleared my skin completely for a while, but it was no fun and antibiotics are HARSH. For the last month or two, though, it's been consistently almost that good, without the side effects.

I think this gem of a product, in combination with a few other things, is what does the magic. All the other products I use have been in my rotation at least slightly longer, but I also feel that a few of them help my skin deal with this product much better, so they're important.

Cleanser: MAC Cleanse Off Oil, sometimes followed with or occasionally alternated with the La Roche-Posay Effaclar hydrating cleanser.
Toner: a generic pharmacy brand hydrating glycerin toner, important, but any will do.
Treatment: Wooden Spoon Troubled Skin Serum, a combination of tamanu oil and marula oil with a few essential oils that helps calm down irritation and helps my skin heal faster, I find. This makes a big difference, without it my skin becomes a little irritated by the azelaic acid product.
Treatment: this, after the oil.
Moisturizer: Avene Skin Recovery Cream.
When needed: Cosrx Pimple Master Patches.

In the morning I just wipe my face with hydrating toner on a cotton pad, spray on some more toner, apply sunscreen (Skin 79 Non-Chemical Sunblock, that one also makes a difference, it seems chemical sunscreen breaks me out a little) and then do my make-up.

I use this most nights, and my skin mostly tolerates it, especially when used with an oil or a moisturiser as a buffer, so to speak. Every now and then I need to give my skin a break, though, and just use very mild, bland products - once or twice a week or every other week, perhaps.

So. Would I recommend this? Yes. It has significantly reduced my hormonal acne. Would I repurchase? Already have. Azelaic acid really works for my skin, it seems.

Foundations -Deciem -The Ordinary Coverage Foundation

Right after application it looks surprisingly good, but it doesn't last.

It enhances any dry skin by being absorbed of the dry patches. The top of the bottle gets stained after the first pump and it's impossible to clean, hence it visually looks awful even early on (which most makeup do after usage, but not as early on as this one). It transfers to clothing like no other foundation and have ruined several jumpers/t-shirts/jackets of mine.

Oh and the cooler tones aren't cool/pink after it oxidised but orange, and gets ALOT darker than the color in the bottle.

This serum makes my skin brighter and softer and it does not clog my pores. It is superior to Estée Lauder night repair serum and all Paula's choice serums. I love the ordinary.
Here is how I use it:
Wash my face
Put Paula's choice 2%BHA
Wait for sometime- moisturize my hands meanwhile.
Put the ordinary 2% retinol emulsion
Then take little amount of the ordinary moisturizer and mix 2-3 drops of buffet in it and apply it.

That's it! You will have smooth and bright skin in the morning.

I have oily/combo aging skin. I bought this on a whim when I placed a Deciem order based on raves on Cafe. I had to guess at a shade, which was a mistake because I ended up with a way-too-light color, but I love its texture, its application and its finish. Since the shade is too light for me, I have been mixing it with other foundations I have that are too dark, and it definitely improves the appearance and wear of the foundation it’s mixed with. I wish I had a counter near me where I could actually get my shade because i have been really impressed with this product. And you can’t beat the price — and it comes in a pump bottle!

I've bought 2 bottles of it and I've just finished the first one (2.5 months, used 1/day). Initially I thought it was working very well as I got fewer breakouts but I'm no longer sure, perhaps my skin got used to it or something else is messing me up. But I will keep on using it and may change my review once I'm done with the 2nd bottle. I've tried using it 2/day but I found that it wasn't working well under sunscreen and make-up. The packaging is a simple dropper - I think a pump would be more suitable as it's rather runny. Still, for the amazing price it's definitely something worth trying, it seems to be working well for some!
P.S. Before I found The Ordinary range, I considered trying Paula's Choice 10% Niacinamide Booster which seems to be the same stuff but at (literally) 10 times the price! Thanks Deciem for looking after those who have smaller budgets :)

I admit it, I bought it for its price. Did not expect too much and I was almost sure I ordered the wrong shade (2.1P). Huge surprise, this foundation was beyond my expectations.

+Lightweight
+It covers as much as it should.
+Evens out my tone.
+Not cakey
+Can apply it easily
+Vast range of shades

-residues of the product stay inside the pump and next time you use it, it can get quickly throwned in various dimensions (eg. on your clothes). Better use your palm closed to protect from spilling.

I don't expect my make up to last for hours, my most important concern is that it feels comfortable. And this one does.

This was my first product of this brand. I just love it because it is so effective. It also contains squalane which does wonders to my skin. I wear this at night because of its oily grainy texture which needs quite some time to absorb.
Whenever I have a huge breakout this is a godsend. Next morning I either have no blemishes at all or everything is soo much better and calmer. It brightens the skin like no other product I've ever used.
I will most surely repurchace

So far it is the only The Ordinary product I don't like

Masks -Deciem -The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

So...I will be the first to say that due to a bit of paranoia about peels, I have not deployed the MUAC peels that I have in my possession. Another MUAer, @Katie411, turned me onto this, saying that in a few uses, it had cleared out some of her clogged pores, so I thought, why not? I'm a lot older than Katie, but we have similar skin.

I applied it all over, on dry skin, following the directions to not put it too close to the eye orbit, etc. Left on for the prescribed 10 minutes. Washed it off with a wet clean washcloth.

Holy crap! I couldn't believe what I saw--I've had this pinkish-reddish clogged pore (I think that's what it is) on my cheek, near my right naso-labial fold, for about a year. I've religiously used Tret, Gly-Luronic and Lac-Luronic acids from BellEvolve (MUAC) for the entirety of that year, and that clogged pore just sat there, sticking its tongue out at me. ONE treatment with this, and it's 90% gone. The redness has significantly diminished; the size of the lump/bump has reduced to near-flat. I also noticed that my nose pores are substantially smaller, SUBSTANTIALLY. (I have this one--you know what it's like, that one honkin' big pore that looks like the Pit of Sarlacc, right?--and now it's hardly noticeable. I'm keeping this stuff 'til they peel it from my cold dead hands, ladies.)

I didn't feel any tingling or burning at all. It was a bit weird, as it's the color of old dark blood, yes. But other than that, it was easy-peasy, and it worked like magic on my skin. I absolutely plan to keep this in rotation, 1-2x weekly. Cannot recommend this highly enough, especially for mature skin at a whopping $7.20 plus shipping. For that price, you can afford to at least patch-test it and throw it out if you hate it.

Love, love, love. So happy to see that damned clogged pore gone, I nearly threw it a going-away party. TY, Deciem/TO, I don't care HOW nutty your CEO is.

i had to make account to be able to review this (yes, it's THAT GOOD)

i gotta say this is one of the best products I've ever tried in my life. my skin is combination (more oily) and acne prone. it's really sensitive as well and got irritated easily. one wrong product and my face got ruined with acne and rashes.

i just used this yesterday but i woke up with the smoothest skin ever and my acne scars looks blurred, this one really does its job. i even used this to the irritated parts (they were red, a lil bit swollen and itchy) and this product seems to fixed them just like that. even my cystic acne became smaller in one night.

and it's so cheap?? only 2-3 drops and 2 times a week, this might last really long for me. i used to be skeptical about TO products since some of them r controversial, but im sooo glad i tried this one.
