I decided to buy this high-end product thinking that it was going to be of good quality and safe for sensitive skin. I was wrong. This product broke me out so badly. :-( I'm gonna switch back to MAC for now until I discover my holy grail foundation.

I don't usually write reviews but this is a game changer, and I can't believe it took me this long to try it. I am used to having to habitually check my makeup every couple of hours to make sure it hasn't caked up, or turned oily etc - but this. I can go a straight 4 or 5 hours before I need to blot (I still use a primer for best oil control results), and even then the foundation is still fully intact and firmly stuck to my face. I have worn it for 8 hours before and only had to blot once, and that's an absolute dream for me as someone with an oily t-zone.1) Application can be a bit tricky. A little goes a LONG way with this - if you slap on tons like a regular foundation it will look SUPER cakey. It also dries rather quickly so for best results do one section of the face at a time, blending it completely before moving on to the next. Bearing in mind that I dont use beauty blenders, the best method I've found is to pour a little on the back of my hand, lightly dip my Real Techniques buffing brush into it to pick up a small amount, and then blend it onto a section of my face. Repeat until entire face is covered and build up as needed. Using this method I get a really good medium coverage that looks really natural on the skin, and feels light and comfortable. I find that when I try to dot it on my face then blend it out like other foundations I tend to end up applying too much. Really I don't think it is as heavy-looking (or feeling) as some people claim it is if you take the time to sheer it out and blend everything in. 2) Shade match : the shade range is excellent. I wear 3W1 Tawny and it's a HAIR on the pink side but otherwise a great match for my NC35ish neutral yellow skin.3) Longevity. Easily lasts a regular 8-10 hour day for me with minimal need to touch up. It sticks to my face so well I actually have to cleanse extra thoroughly to completely remove it, otherwise I do find that it clogs my pores. I go in with an oil cleanser, and then run a cotton pad soaked with micellar water to pick up extra bits, and then wash my face with my usual face cleanser.Pros :- Great shade range- Easily achieves a high medium coverage, buildable to full.- Matte, but not flat matte imo - this actually makes my skin look really nice.- Lasts through the apocalypse - controls oil really well and still looks very fresh even hours later. - Versatile - if you have drier skin I would recommend mixing this in with a drop of hyaluronic acid or pairing it with a hydrating primer, as you'll get the coverage and longevity without the potentially drying/texture-emphasising effect. Can be applied sparingly for a more skin-like look, or built up to look very full coverage and makeupey if desired. Cons :- Application can take some getting used to.- Can be unforgiving on texture, as most matte foundations I've tried tend to be- I do get dry patches on my nose and this can cling to them. However I don't finding this to emphasise my fine lines any more than my other foundations do despite the matte finish.- Can clog pores if extra care isn't taken to remove it completely. You pretty much NEED an oil cleanser to make sure it's thoroughly removed.- Pump is sold separately if you want one. TL;DR Rating : 11/10 bye bye frequent touch ups where has this been all my life - best suited to those with oilier skin that have issues with makeup longevity, drier skin types can wear this too if modified to be more moisturising. UPDATE : I have taken one lippie off the rating because now that I have worn this a few more times, I do find that it can feel quite heavy and drying on my skin. Careful moisturisation is definitely needed as face prep before putting this foundation on.

I worked for Lauder way back in '97 & did so for several years. I got hooked on this foundation & can't make a change. I have tried MAC, Lancôme, some cheapies with good reviews but nothing is as good as this, in my opinion. It stays on, the color is perfect for my skin tone & I love the coverage.

Holy Grail Product for me. I have fair skin with some mild sun damage that I am now seeing a dermatologist for. I am on light therapy for and Retin A. So, I needed full coverage with a foundation that would not look cakey or splotchy. Also, one that would not dry my face out. Although, before I get into how wonderful this product is I will say that you should use a good moisturizer underneath and SPF, and I use a good primer (Smashbox). But really that's with any foundation. So, in my opinion the formula is quite velvety. It goes on quite smooth and believe me, you do not need a lot. I have found that a dry beauty blender is best if you are wanting full coverage. If you just want a nice, full coverage, but not too much just every flaw covered but breathable and still natural, just use one small amount of a coat: 3 or 4 dots on each cheek and a couple on your forehead and chin-lip. Use the blender and tip for around your nose etc; It is absolutely buildable if you want a heavier look. The price is a bit steep but it is worth every penny and it does not sweat off, it lasts up to 12 hours (seriously-I have long days) and it will not break you out even with sensitive skin like mine. The colors are very nice and natural. I chose Sand. My only gripe about this product is that it does not come with a pump. However, I have heard that you can buy a pump from Mac that fits it perfectly.I bought my Double Wear from Ulta and they really help you there; so, I wish you well in your purchase I think you'll be surprised.Stay Gorg!!!!

For people complaining about the price - dont buy Estee Lauder if you cant afford it! Go to the drugstore. I have tan skin (Mac NC42 to NC44 depending on season) - and miraculously, one of these ten colors is a magical match for my skintone. Honey Bronze. I am obsessed with this foundation - you can just spread it with your fingers as the lady in Nordstrom told me, but it goes on great with a brush or beauty blender. I dont do any "prep" on my skin with this foundation, it goes on nicely on top of moisturizer. Currently I use several different MAC foundations, Make up Forever Velvet Matte, Georgio Armani Luminous Silk - I would rank this #2. The MUFE is hands down the nicest on my skin. I have a lot of post-acne scarring which get covered up nicely with this Estee Lauder foundation and its actually way better than Georgio Armani which costs like $65.

For reference: my HG bronzers are Guerlain Terracotta for both the color and the performance during the day. But I sometimes get sick of using the same ones, so I tried the Bronze Goddess ones. It looked promising as I tried the shades in shop and the ingredients didn't show up anything that would possibly clog or break me out. So I got the shades 02 and 04. It's smooth powder, finely milled, the tiny shimmer bits aren't obvious, and on skin it blends reasonably smoothly. I mean, there are finer and better bronzers out there (like Terracotta or others for way less money). Bronze Goddess doesn't last very long on skin, it tends to disappear or gets wiped away from places where my hair comes in contact with it, that's an odd thing that no other bronzing powder does to me. During mid-day Bronze Goddess also tends to start to emphasize skin's texture, i.e., it creates texture where there is none, and it's not a flattering look. So the performance isn't exactly stellar, a less expensive NYX or Sleek bronzer outperforms this one on my skin. The worst flaw in my opinion is that this bronzer oxidizes, it starts out beautifully, reddish-brown radiant tan, but about half-way through the day (when the bronzer probably starts to break apart) it oxidizes and turns orange and a bit muddy. It ends up looking like an unfortunate self-tanning accident. I ended up giving the 02 shade away and 04 I sometimes use as eyeshadow, as the shade contrasts nicely with my eye color and I don't mind it oxidizing on my eyelid (the more orange my e/s is the more the blue in my eyes pops). All in all, it would be a great value for the amount you get, but it has pesky performance issues and the oxidation makes me rate it poorly. Though, it mirrors my over-all experience with Estere Lauder make-up as a whole, it's rather mediocre when it comes to actual performance, which is a shame as the shades are usually well suited for everyday wear. I do like the sturdy packing of the bronzer, I've dropped it a couple times and it survived intact (which is more I can say for the notoriously bad shells Guerlain uses for Terracotta).

I invested in the La Mer Soft Fluid foundation, and while it doesn't provide full coverage, it is buildable to light-medium coverage. The finish is very life like and soft focus. I loved it so much but the price point was too high. So I've been on the hunt for a lightweight foundation that offers similar finish. This new Esstee Lauder Double Wear Nude offers very similar coverage, being just a little bit more dewy than the La Mer. But the finish is also veru beautiful true to skin, life like glow. I have dry skin so when I tried the original double wear, I HATED it. It settled into my pores and emphasized it, no matter what I did. This on the other hand, works wonderful on me. The lasting power is very similar to La Mer as well. Abt 10hours b4 it starts fading gracefully. And this is a third the price of La Mer! Score! Most of the bad reviews I've seen are from ppl who have oily skin. Uhm Hello, this was marketed as a moisturizing lightweight foundation. If u know u hv oily skin, then go for the original double wear not this one! This one is definitely for dry skin gals like me! Doesn't accentuate pores, even diffuses then a little bit. I've seen somewhere that this contains silicones though, but it hasn't broken my sensitive skin out so I'll definitely be using it everyday for now. My new HG! PS: this does oxidise so be sure to get a shade lighter. I chose bone, and it looked a little loght upon application, bit after a while it settled and looked like nothing on me skin. Blended seamlessly.

I was drawn to trying this out as I read that it was aimed at drier skin and was more hydrating than the original double wear, which on my dry skin, made it look drier. I bought this from an Estée Lauder counter and was colour matched to a 2N1 desert beige. I was going to give this 4 stars, then I decided to up it to five as I'm really pleased with the colour match, it's perfect for my fair neutral skin tone. Iecommnd getting matched if you can as if they get it right, it really makes a difference. I have worn this all week, using various primers and application techniques. For me, it works best on top of moisturiser, simply applied with fingers. I tried my beauty blender but it does sheer it out a little bit of much. As this is water based you do need to be careful what your primer's ingredients are, as if they are silicone based, it doesn't create a good mix and can make the foundation more slippery. Today, I applied it with fingers on moisturised skin and then I powdered it lightly. I like the finish a lot and the overall look is still 'glowy' but it really evens out my skin tone and looks natural, but doesn't cling to patches, or highlight pores. I don't think this would suit anyone who has large pores, combination skin, or a lot of skin discolouration as it would either be too blowy/dewy or not enough coverage and wear off more in places. I don't agree it lasts 16 hrs, probably 9 or 10 before it starts to disappear around my nose or chin, but that's fine and is usually when I'm home from work anyway. I'd buy this again.

Honestly terrible for my skin, one wear and i broke out SO bad. I bought this because it said non-comedogenic hoping it wouldn't clog my pores, i don't know if it did or didn't do that. But upon removing it i had red pimples all under my skin, and right after i had just cleared it up too :(. I also didn't build it up very much for the sake of letting my skin breathe, now i'm glad i didn't build it up.

The regular Estee Lauder Double Wear has been my favorite foundation for a number of years because it doesn't make my oily skin even more oily than it already is and the coverage is great. That being said this lighter and nude version is a pleasant surprise. Does not cover as well as the Original Double Wear but looks very natural on my skin, llike I am wearing no foundation at all. Another pro is the fact that it doesn't cause extra oilyness. in my case and he lasting power is okay as well. All in all I just can't agree with some of the negative reviews here. However, when I do have a lot of blemishes I use the Original Double Wear because of the simple fact that it offers more coverage. The only thing I don't like is the fact that it doesn't come with a pump. I am aware of the fact that I can purchase one but this foundation is so thin that it should not be sold without a standard pump.

The "big guns" of foundation- not for amateur makeup wearers!! Awesome full coverage (hides blemishes and scars), lasts all day and is a great buildable foundation! It may be too heavy for those who hate the feeling of wearing foundation or those who want a more natural look. I wear it all year round but some may also think it's too heavy for the summer. With that being said, it's not extremely easy to remove- lots of face wipes plus face wash. It dries matte which is great for those who dislike a dewey finish, buffs in easily and evenly and doesn't streak. It is a bit expensive though-but well worth the money! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!

Had a sample (1w1 Bone) to try. This is comfortable to wear and blended well and felt weightless. The coverage is much much lighter compared to the regular Double Wear so I would imagine that people who depend on the original for coverage would find the coverage of this disappointing. It evens out skin tone slightly but covers very little therefore feels more natural and skin like. I feel the coverage and texture of this is even a tiny bit lighter than the Nars tinted moisturiser. I was hoping this would be the answer to what I was looking for: something that lasts longer and covers more than the Nars tinted moisturiser but not as mask like as the double wear original. Unfortunately this doesn't quite cut it. After using this a few more times I have also found that it does absolutely nothing for my pores compared to many other foundations this so wouldn't be my choice even if I wanted a light foundation.
