Liquid -NYX -Professional Makeup Total Control Drop Foundation

on 1/14/2018 10:52:00 PM

Aside from a Pixi Tinted Moisturizer that I like, I just don't have any luck with drugstore foundation, and never buy any..this is actually expensive for drugstore @$14 for .43 fluid ounces, so it's less than half the size of the average bottle/ tube which are 1 full ounce..Ulta taunted me Friday with an email for 5x the points on NYX purchases, plus an extra 250 points if I spent over $60 on any brand.. I obviously went on my merry way to Ulta the next day😜.. Im N25, very neutral combo/mature skin, no acne, and no dark marks(just dark undereyes).. The last few years as I've reached my late 40's I've just hated every single foundation on me .. I had finally found a few I really liked and rotated; Becca Aqua Luminous, MAC Face and Body, Too Faced BTW, or Lancome or Bobbi Brown powder compact foundation.. I have only worn this NYX twice now, but it's pretty good, and I'm happy to have found a drugstore foundation that I will actually repurchase and not toss out like I have with Fit Me, Color Stay, WNW Photo Focus etc etc.. Definitely recommend this product;

Eyeliner -NYX -Vivid Brights Eyeliner

on 1/13/2018 1:20:00 PM

I was so excited for this liner. I bought it in halo and the color looked amazing. But it wasn’t. Waste of money. It was bright yellow when applied but once it dried it looked mustard yellow and it CAKED and CRACKED immediately. So much so that I could pick pieces of the liner off with my fingers from my lid. Never again this one from nyx, sorry to say. Maybe it works for others on a naked lid but do NOT use over any eyeshadow unless you want it to look cracked and dried with a washed out color. Horrible.

Eye Shadow -NYX -Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil - Milk

I bought this at Target one day because I thought my other eye primer was discontinued, but it wasn't after all. Anyway, I have this in the shade "Milk."

This product is just okay, at best. The price isn't bad but it's kind of annoying to sharpen it; I wish they'd make this retractable.
It's really thick and hard to blend out, but maybe I should try a brush to blend it out?
Another thing I have a problem with when it comes to this product is if I want my shadows to blend, I have to apply a powder beforehand.

I'm not sure if I'd get this again. It's leading towards a "no" for the time being but I'll try to write an update after trying it out with a brush.

UPDATE: I tried this with a brush, it still didn't work and it only made my shadows look messy (even set with powder). I won't get this again, unless somebody could maybe give me some tips on how to use this product? :/

Lipstick -NYX -Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Cream

on 1/12/2018 2:51:00 PM

I bought this from Ulta in the shade Best Buds, it's a rosy nude shade. I wouldn't repurchase this again, or any of the shades... very chalky, feels like putting eyeshadow on your lips, and just not good quality, I do love the tube style and the applicator. I love NYX butter glosses, and some other products from them, but this is sub par in my opinion.. So many better formulas out there in this price range ($8-$9). I tried it twice, and had to put a gloss over it for it to look decent.. Ended up giving it to my 22 yo niece.

Lipstick -NYX -Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Cream

on 1/12/2018 1:38:00 PM

Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Cream is a mousse like lip cream that feel as light as a powder on the lips. I would describe the feel of this lipstick as a comfort matte. It feels really soft on the lip and the pigmentation is soft but on point. It feels a little slippery on the lips but didn't transfer onto other parts of my face like other lip creams tend to do.

I personally love this formula, but I will say it only lasts a few hours on the lips. If you are looking for something ultra matte and long wearing this is not your lip cream. However, If you want a comfortable matte lip that looks good and you don't mind reapplying then this is a good lip cream for you.

I have some swatches and additional thoughts on my blog here:

Lipstick -NYX -Lip Lingerie

I have this in 12 shades and I honestly almost wish I had it in none. To be fair, I'm pretty pale, but by no means am I so pale that I can't appreciate a good nude or some rich color on my lips. But in a full year of owning these, I've worn only one shade out of the house, Exotic, a gorgeous brick berry. Bedtime Flirt is an almost exact dupe for ColourPop's Knotty.

Matte lips are one thing, but these are so dry, kinda tight feeling, and if you dare to touch up, they get weirdly crumbly. They have a similar 'moussey' feel as Colourpop mattes but dry down less solid, if that makes sense. I can still feel slippage on the "thicker" shades an hour later.

But for me the biggest drawback is color. Every shade seems to be a very similar base, with very similar undertones and just a bit of different pigment mixed in. I was determined to find one usable shade but while there is a big range, they all pull noticeably brown/grey on me. When swatched next to each other they look too similar, and while nude can have 1000 iterations, I don't want 12 all with the same undertones. I know NYX released a handful of new shades I haven't checked yet, but if they are the same as this, it's a pass.

Lip Treatments -NYX -#THISISEVERYTHING Lip Oil

on 1/12/2018 10:35:00 AM

The NYX #THISISEVERYTHING Lip Oil is a nice, hydrating, untinted lip oil that will leave your lips with a nice clear sheen. The consistency is on the thin side and one swipe leaves a nice moisturizing layer of the oil that looks almost like you have a lip gloss on. I like that NYX used a combination of beneficial oils, jojoba, avocado, sweet almond, instead of relying on only one oil. This oil really makes my lips feel nice and hydrated- can be very helpful since my skin, lips, eyes, and hair can get very dry during the winter. My more detailed review can be seen here:

Eyes -NYX -Lid Lingerie Palette

on 1/12/2018 4:01:00 AM

I absolutely love this palette all the colors are very pigmented with little fall out. They blend beautifully I love that they are all matte neutral colors. Nyx really improved their formulas because these are their best eyeshadows yet

Palettes -NYX -Butt Naked Eyes

In order of worst to best:

Eyeshadows: there is every single neutral colour you will ever need in this palette, too bad they're all unusable since there is next to no pigmentation. Even the black only shows up as a pale grey!

Illuminators: visible, but still if you like blinding highlighters these aren't for you. They would even be hard to use for daytime natural looks because of how powdery and glittery they are.

Blushes: the true stand out products. All four were incredibly pigmented, you get two shimmer and two mattes, and all managed to still look very pretty and flattering even though they seem very bright. My complexion is neutral-cool and even the coral looked gorgeous. Unfortunately I can't find the official shades that were used.

Thankfully I was able to get this 50% off, and $13 for 4 blushes is still a good deal. If I had paid full price I would have been more upset. I ended up depotting the blushes and throwing the rest of the palette out as I felt the shadows and highlighters performed too poorly to give away

Primer/ Corrector -NYX -Makeup Setting Spray - Dewy Finish

on 1/11/2018 11:57:00 PM

I bought this on a whim not expecting much and it performed somewhat above my expectations. It does keep makeup on a long time - my highlight stayed perfect 9 hours later when it usually vanishes by then and my blush seemed to still be there however the problem is what it does to your foundation. I use studio fix by mac and it takes away some of the beautiful finish as well taking away a bit of makeup or making it a bit more sheer if you spray a lot which makes sense cause the same thing would happen if you sprayed any liquid like this or water excessively after applying makeup.

All in all I would recommend but I would say stick with the matte one cause that may preserve the finish of matte foundations so many people love. I got dewy because my skin is dry and I kinda wish I didn't.

Also to add , this bottle is kinda expensive for the product you get. I'm already halfway through within two months but I use it maybe once ever two weeks. I would try to get a finer spray nozzle cause the one that comes with this sprays it so that you use a lot. For ten bucks on a bottle that wouldn't last me a month of everyday use the price isn't as nice as it seems.

Lip Gloss -NYX -Professional Makeup Butter Gloss

I used to be a fan of all-matte lips all throughout high school and college (until I kind of got bored of it), now I gravitate towards more sheer, creamy, moisturizing formulas.
I used to hate lip glosses since I have short-mid length hair which always clinged to gloss on my lips, but when I purchased Butter Gloss I’ve found that brands really stepped up their game and 2010s glosses aren’t as sticky as early 2000s glosses.
Butter Glosses feel comfortable on the lips, are (almost) non sticky. Some shades are more opaque than others. The shade selection is huge- everyone will find their perfect shade. They’re not as long lasting as matte lipsticks, but I don’t expect it from gloss, I don’t mind reapplying throughout the day.
You can’t beat the price too!

Liquid -NYX -Professional Makeup Total Control Drop Foundation

I have combination skin with lots of dry patches during the winter and was a bit sceptical before buying it since a lot of reviews said it was terrible on dry skin. I still decided to give it a try and completely fell in love with this product. It's literally the first foundation ever that 100% matches my skin tone (Vanilla).
I mixed a few drops of the foundation with a few drops of argan oil and it turned out AMAZING! super dewy and glowing skin, would absolutely recommend anyone (with dry and even not so dry skin) trying this!

Blush -NYX -HD Blush in Double Dare

on 1/11/2018 12:45:00 AM

I love this color! I'm chocolate brown. Even though I had heard that orange blush would be great on me, I always suspected that the people who liked this also liked bright, carnival-type colors that you'd see in the Carribean.

I was so wrong about this bright orange blush. The color is way more toned down on my skin than it is in the pot. My cheeks just look alive in a natural way.

I always use a light hand when applying blush and that was the case with this product. This color works best for me when I'm creating an overall natural palette in my makeup for the day. When I pair the blush with a burnt orange lipstick that looks like an autumn shade, I just look radiant.

The formula is easy to apply. And you can't beat the price at around $7!

Concealers -NYX -HD Photogenic Concealer Wand (All Shades)

on 1/10/2018 7:49:00 PM

Works well for concealing pimples and under-eye brightening. Not too heavy or thick. It stays in place well throughout the day. The price is good at $5. I will buy again when I run out.

BB Cream -NYX -BB Beauty Balm

on 1/10/2018 4:37:00 PM

1 LIPPIE only because there is no -1

PRICE: $13.00

Perfect the “no makeup” look with our BB Cream. Specially formulated without oil, this mineral-infused formula hydrates the skin and helps the complexion appear smoother. Wear it as a primer under your foundation, or alone for a touch of lightweight color.

I got the color Golden- Medium with golden undertone, and nude and mixed them because their color selection is ridiculous. 3 colors? Really?

I’m giving this one lippie. Oil free? If you have oily skin, RUN from this one. It feels so oily to me and sticky and it remains sticky. I am surprised so many like this because it was a complete fail for me. II really, really disliked this. I prefer a lightweight BB cream and one that looks nice on my skin. This is sort of thick & heavy, more like a foundation (and not a good one) and the coverage is similar to a light to medium coverage foundation but yet it doesn’t cover much, does that make sense? If I put it on my arm and let it dry, it’s not as oily or sticky but on my face…. YUK! It almost looks cakey on my skin and it finds and accentuates lines I never knew I had. If I use a sponge, it doesn’t seem to want to blend in, it just kind of slides around and sits on my face. If I set it with powder it looks even worse. It works better if I use a brush to apply but I still think don’t like the way it looks. It looks bad alone and even worse under foundation, so I can’t think of any way to make this work. It has no SPF but it does have some ingredients in it that protect from sun.

It is oil free but feels feels heavy and greasy on my face and a little sticky even with powder over it. I’ve worked and worked with this and would not repurchase it. I bought it because it had no sunscreen and thought it would be nice for days when I don’t want to wear a foundation and it’s cheaper than my Pixi H2o tinted moisturizer(which I LOVE). I can feel it on my face, I am constantly aware it is there and it’s not a good feeling. It has a huge laundry list of ingredients and none of them are anything great. It did not cause any breakouts or real irritation but it feels like my skin is suffocating and I am constantly aware that it is there and wanting to wash it off, so maybe something in it is irritating to my skin.

if you don't mind a HEAVY bb cream, and have dry skin and zero fine lines, then this may be one you might like. On me, It just looks flat and cakey and settles into every fine line. I do not like how greasy, sticky and oily it feels. If it’s oil free then why when I blot it do I get lots of it on my blotting papers and I don’t have oily skin. I think it’s because it just sits on top of my skin then comes off when I blot, which is one reason it looks so unnatural. This is just so bad, really bad. The worst BB cream I’ve ever tried and I’ve tried a lot. I was determined to try to make it work, and used about half of it before I just gave up because it was not going to happen. I would much rather pay an extra $9.00 and get MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream ( color Honey Beige) from Target. It is very nice, but it does have SPF 45 and sunscreens tend to bother my face which is why I decided to try the NYX but the SPF in MISSHA doesn't bother me. I do not like the lighter colors in MISSHA, they are too pink and look gray on me but honey beige is fine. It could be a shade lighter but it works.. I'll stick to one that I know I like when I want a BB cream.
