My HG mascara! Will definitely repurchase this mascara again. My eyelashes look full and volumized without looking clumpy every time.

Palettes -Too Faced -I Want Kandee: Candy Eyes

on 12/2/2017 4:54:00 PM

foto

The I Want Kandee palette contains the following powder eyeshadow shades in a mix of matte, satin and shimmer finishes; Sparkling Cider (champagne nude), Pastry (matte cappuccino), Sugared Strawberry (shimmering coral pink), Cream Puff (matte sand), Sugar Plum (silvered lavender), Raspberry Cocoa (matte berry brown), Butterscotched (matte apricot), Sweet Toffee (gilded copper), Frosted Pink (gilded soft pink), Hot Chocolate (matte rich brown), Taupe Berry (matte smokey taupe), Licorice Rope (matte pitch black), Banana Cream Pie (matte cream), Ice Cream (matte pinky cream) and Whipped Cream (pearly white).

This is tricky to review as it's not bad, just something I think is unnecessary. On one hand the shadow quality is excellent on all but one of the shades (Liquorice Rope needs building up), the shades are very wearable and the packaging is awesome. But on the other hand, there isn't anything here that hasn't been done before many other times, so if you have a few palettes already then you already have very similar shades to what's on offer here. If you are new to eyeshadow so want a helping hand with selecting shades that work really well together [the shades are split into three clusters using the best well-coordinated options], or are looking for a attractive gift [the way the tin palette is designed to resemble a vintage chocolae box is a nice touch], then I Want Kandee is worth the splurge, but I don't think this is a must-own palette for those of us who already own, ahem, a 'few' eyeshadow palettes.

So yeah; all in all this palette falls onto the ho-hum side for me, especially as the shades look different in real life compared to how they appeared on screen = it turns out that I can dupe everything. I regret falling for the hype and ordering it. Like I said above the shades are pretty and the formula quality is great, so I've gone to four lippies as I'll continue to use the palette, as it's easy to apply the shadows and they wear well. But, in my opinion, the colour picks are pretty "blah" as they're all overdone - Too Faced themselves have numerous other palettes with these kinds of shades in.

Powder -Too Faced -Cocoa Powder Foundation

I really love this! Next to Lancome powder compact foundation, this might be my 2nd favorite powder foundation. I'm 48 yo, combo skin, no acne, and no major wrinkles yet, just some slow forming laugh lines.. When I find a powder foundation that doesn't make me look 100 years old, and gives my skin solid coverage without looking dry, I'm all over it! I'm about N25, neutral tone, and I got the shade light/ medium and it's perfect. I use my regular Aveeno day cream mixed with a drop of argan oil, let that absorb well, then spot conceal if necessary with NARS radiant creamy concealer, then apply one layer with a fluffy brush all over, then go in with a buffing brush on areas I want a little more coverage. When I set my face with UD All Nighter spray, Or Milani Make it Last setting spray it lasts all day. Definitely recommend.

Loose Powders -Too Faced -Peach Perfect Loose Setting Powder

This powder is amazing HOWEVER, the scent is wayyyyyyy too much for me. It does what it says its supposed to do but the smell is horrible - way too artificial and if you accidentally inhale some there's an awful artificial peach flavor in your mouth. I would love if they had this powder without the scent. Ended up returning to Sephora.

Loose Powders -Too Faced -Born This Way Ethereal Loose Setting Powder

OMG, this stuff is amazing!!! Years ago, I used the Urban Decay razor sharp setting powder. It was extremely finely milled and set my makeup like none other. They have since discontinued it and I have been on a search ever since. I love the Laura Mercier translucent powder but even that didn't live up to my UD powder. I have found my new holy grail, I may even say this is better than the Laura Mercier translucent powder. I find that my makeup lasts much longer than using any other powder.

Liquid -Too Faced -Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation

Excellent foundation.

It has a light, almost floral scent, but nothing distracting.

I apply two pumps by dotting the product on my face (no primer, only moisturizer). I do have to work it in more on my dry patches. It only barely emphasizes my very deep forehead lines (compared to Studio Fix Fluid and Urban Decay All Nighter, it looks great). It can minorly emphasize my smile line at the end of the day if I don't powder. Without powder, the wear was excellent (after 10 hours it looked better than most foundations after two). With powder, I don't worry about it at all. My environment is quite humid, but I haven't tested it on an 80 degree + kind of day.

The coverage is medium. It covers almost all of my surface redness and camouflages (but does not fully hide) acne. With it on, my skin looks very, very natural.

I found an excellent shade match (Nude, which is a light shade with pink undertones. A half-shade lighter and less pink than Mac NW20). However, I should note that the shade range is very poor. Deeper skintones are almost entirely unrepresented.

I enjoy the coverage, the wear time, and the value (this product contains 1.6 oz of product, rather than the usual 1.0), but deducted a point for the limited shade range .

Palettes -Too Faced -Sweet Peach Eye Shadow Collection Palette

The good
The smell of the box and product in the tin...nice! as the name suggest peaches and all
I love the trending peachy smokey eye look now
lovely packaging, nice summer colors, pleasant to look at and nice for travels
This is great for fiery -orangey smouldering eyes

The bad
A bit pricey
Not as pigmented like tarte pro amazonian pallette
The tiny mirror isnt helpful
Wait out for the peachy mattes newly launched... its got better pigmentation/color payoffs based on reviews and MUA/ gurus. Feels like the Too faced knew the backlash on Sweet peach and came up with Peach mattes! Too Faced Sweet Peach seemed like a rush attempt against Kylie`s peach pallettee.

The ugly
now i understand why the reviewers complain that upon blending all the colors look muddy. Blend and then they all turn out similar! The trick is to go easy on blending or very lightly but even then ... hmmm
The shimmer on shade Candied Peach hardly shows up, Puree and Summer Yum look so similar. Just Peachy is just like Candied Peach even without the shimmer!

Recommend
Well, there are other better pallettes like UD Naked Heat, Zoeva Opulence cos of better pigmentation. Or get Too Faced Peachy matte instead

Impulse purchase for me at TJMaxx and considering going back for a couple more (only $6 each there). Game changer for me as far as my lipstick. You have to know what to expect though. Exfoliate and moisturize your lips prior, but wipe off and put this product on your naked lips. Wait until it gets tacky, then apply lipstick. I think it works magic with dryer lipstick formulas (I use maybelline), but perhaps not super creamy lipsticks. Will update when I try with more types of products but loving it so far. I don't even need to use lipliner. Increases wear time and prevents color from bleeding.

Mascara -Too Faced -Better Than Sex Mascara

I'm surprised by the bad reviews!!!
I got this as a free sample and although I already loooove the cover girl lash blast mascara, I figured I would give this one a try. Well, I now use these in combination!

Let me tell you how amazing this mascara is...
It isn't better than sex but I get what they're hinting at lol...
Anyways it literally only takes about 3 swipes for my lashes to intensely increase in volume and length!! It's so easy! My lashes just look doll-like! I use the covergirl mascara with just a few coats because I feel like it separtes the lashes a little better- I could see why people say this stuff clumps- but it works amazing in combo with the cover girl, it separates everything out and my lashes just look great.... I will repurchase

Eye Primer -Too Faced -Shadow Insurance

This is actually the worst eyeshadow primer I've ever used, which I'm surprised about. It certainly helps prevent creasing for some time, but I've used other primers that were half the price and lasted twice as long. When I use this with Tarte eyeshadow, it'll crease in just under seven hours. If I use it with Elizabeth Arden, it'll crease in three. It doesn't do anything to enhance pigmentation, so I don't see the point in this because it adds nothing of value that a cheaper primer can't already do better.

My eyelids aren't particularly oily. Eyeshadows do crease on me often but mascara never smudges, not even the infamously smudgy ones like Better Than Sex.

Whats more, I have reason to believe this primer led to my eye area drying out noticeably and leading to me developing (temporary) deep wrinkles. I'm 25 with combination/dehydrated skin and I often have eczema, but no wrinkles anywhere. My left undereye area turned a dark grey and started peeling and looking scabby and noticeably flakey. I developed two very deep lines in my inner corner. I started moisturising with Aveeno Oatmeal eczema cream and rosehip oil to fix it which worked temporarily, but it kept coming back. I assumed it was due to my bad hayfever but then I read a comment on Reddit about someone else having their eyelids dry out from this primer and it occured to me that I'd never had this issue until I'd started using Shadow Insurance for a few months. I then ordered Urban Decay Primer Potion which I've been using for a fortnight now, and my eye area has healed completely even though my hayfever has since gotten worse (it's pollen season) and I'm now using a weaker moisturiser.

The only thing I like about this product is the squeeze tube packaging. Other than that, it does nothing to aid eyeshadow pigmentation, vastly underperforms in wear time compared to cheap primers and made me look fifteen years older.

For reference, the other primers I've tried are Australis, Etude House, Smashbox and UDPP. I hate to jump on the UDPP bandwagon because I dislike the company's morals, but it really was the best out of the lot in terms of lasting power and enhanced colour. The only thing I dislike about UDPP is that it bunches up badly in my inner crease so I have to use a tiny amount compared to the rest of my lid.

It was a hyped foundation, I have dry combo skin in winter and it accentuates my pores, is drying and feels cakey. Kind of disappointing.

The coverage and color selection of this concealer is great. Packaging and applicator are decent if not fairly standard. I love that this product is cruelty free and vegan. However, the strong artificial coconut smell makes my eyes water like crazy which is not acceptable when trying to use this product for under eye circles! I don't know what they were thinking putting that much fragrance in a product for your face. Truly a disappointment for me. But if your not bothered by extreme coconut scents, this product might work for you.

Concealers -Too Faced -Born This Way Concealer

I'm pretty finicky about my concealers. I have very fair skin and reddish undereyes, as well as some acne scars and some redness around my nose. I've tried almost every concealer out there from Bobbi Brown to Nars Radiant Creamy to Glossier Stretch and they have all been too thick and cakey or too greasy. What I like about this product is that it's very lightweight, but it does exactly what it says -- it's radiant, hydrating, and has solid medium coverage.

I use this concealer in the shade Fairest and it works perfectly for my neutral porcelain skin! Most companies do not make a shade this fair that isn't disgustingly pink, so points for that. I dab about 2 light layers over my undereye and I find that my dark circles are covered, plus the concealer reflects light really well and gives me a more glowy, awake look. This covers blemishes and other little areas on my face really well, too. It doesn't make me oily or break me out, and because it contains coconut water and hyaluronic acid it works fine on dry patches too. I do not find that it completely covers my acne scars, but it diminishes them enough to where I'm comfortable. If I'm being honest, I don't care if people see my acne scars, but of course this is a matter personal preference. It doesn't really crease on me either, and I'm usually too lazy to set my makeup. And for what it's worth, I get compliments on my skin whenever I wear this!

Overall I have repurchased this concealer twice now and I will continue to do so indefinitely! It is a hefty price ($28!) but the product quality is well worth it in my opinion. There are more expensive, worse products out there. And for reference, I find that a tube lasts me about 4-6 months, depending on how often I'm putting on makeup. Give it a shot if you are tired of cakey, thick concealers!!

I don't really know why I bought this because I don't really splurge on setting powders. I like this enough as a setting powder, and for blotting after sunscreen but it doesn't work any better than my more affordable powders. For that reason, I wouldn't repurchase. If you don't really care about the price, then it's a good powder.
