I'm having mixed feelings about this product. I have a very oily skin, but I also have a lot of flakiness from dry patches.Yes, this foundation does stay matte for a loooooong period of time. I am loving this aspect of the foundation and I can understand why it's so well loved by many who has oily skin. However, it's not that great for those who suffers from acne, textured skin etc. The foundation is so matte that it actually dries the skin (probably because of the presence of alcohol). It makes my skin look so old and bad. Maybe it's just because I haven't moisturise my face enough, or that I didn't exfoliate my face before using this foundation.I'm just really not loving this foundation as much as I wanted to... Maybe I'll give it another try when my skin is in a better condition.

This foundation was raved about on YouTube so I wanted to try it. I never used the Double Wear formula because the lightest shade was too dark & orangey. This stuff is a good shade in the lightest shade, but it just doesn't have much coverage even if you try to build it up and looks patchy after it starts to break up, which is only after a couple hours. I'm very disappointed, but I'm glad I can return it! I'd bought the pump (sold separately) though which now makes me realize I wasted money. I only recommend this if you have no skin problems, very dry skin, & want something more natural looking.

The list of ingredients is impressive, full of antioxidants and offering excellent sun protection. The packaging is pretty and functional. However, it is way too greasy for me. It worked ok for me when my skin was going through a phase of being drier, but now that my combination skin is oilier, it just doesn't work for me anymore. It is pleasant to use but it it looks shiny right from the start and it only gets worse throughout the day. It also irritates my skin around my chin (where my chin is more sensitive due to acne treatments). As much as I would like this to work for me, and I gave it several tries, it is just too rich. On the plus side, I doesn't contain alcohol like many others.

I felt like I had to review this because of all the negative reviews I'm seeing in here... I decided to buy this foundation because Wayne Goss rated it as the 'best foundation ever' and I needed one so I decided to trust him. I'm so glad I did! Since it's a water-based foundation it's more lightweight but provides the right amount of coverage to hide my redness and even out my skin tone. I check myself in the mirror and notice that the makeup still looks fresh even after 8+ hours of wear! This is one of if not the best foundation that I have ever tried so far and will continue using it for daily wear since it's also got SPF which is a plus! The only downside is that this doesn't come with a pump and lots of product is wasted. Other than that if you're looking for a lightweight water-based foundation that looks like second skin and are able to afford it, I say go for it!!

I can't stand this foundation. Settles into pores, accentuates everything and doesn't last as long as it should. Oxidizes as well

I used this serum throughout my twenties and was very happy with it. Entering my thirties, I decided to experiment with different formulas and ingredients from retinoids to Hydroxy Acids. I'm afraid the two latter put ANR to shame. I am now 37 and bought this after about 7-8 years of using other formulas. I remembered it was a very decent product worth the steep pricetag, but I remembered wrong (it was just my very young skin doing the work). My skin is used to stonger performers now and this is, frankly, a h u g e disappointment. I would classify it as a medium-performer that moisturises and conditions adequately. For this price, I expect so much (much) more. Not worth buying, in my opinion.

I love this bb cream! I'm not normally a bb cream wearer and used to wear heavy foundation every day! But I went travelling and ditched the foundation to let my skin breath. I now live in a very sunny place so needed to invest in a good cream with spf. I was recommended this in Sephora, I use light shade which is maybe a bit to light for me as it hides slightly my freckles on my nose which I don't like. But it smells great and covers me well without covering to much - it just blends well evens out my skin. I have acne and red skin and this is great it gives me a nice glow and looks natural and healthy. I would highly recommend and will be re purchasing !

I love this foundation. I bought it recently because my skin has been acting up and I am breaking out everywhere so I was desperately trying to look for a good powder foundation and give my skin a break form the liquid ones. I decided to give this a shot because I love the Double Wear liquid foundation so much and I was just feeling very confident that this would work. And my bet paid off because it worked beautifully. The packing is your standard Estée Lauder elegant deep navy blue/gold package. It does with a sponge but I don't think I will ever use it unless I lost my powder brush. I bought the shade 2W2 Rattan to match my liquid foundation in the same name. I do not think the color matches 100% but it is close enough (liquid was a bit more yellow which I prefer). I recommend ordering straight from the Estée Lauder website because sephora does not carry all the shades (they did not carry mine). After I moisturizer my cleansed skin and after primer, I would spot conceal (I would skip the under eye unless you have really dark circles). Then I take a fat kabuki brush and coat the brush with a good and even layer and gently pat it all over my face. I wouldn't recommend buffing it because it takes away the concealer effort. This leaves me a beautifully matte/satin finish and medium/high coverage. I don't notice any oxidizatiin at the end of the day either. On the website it says it lasts 8 hours but I think with a primer and setting spray you can get 12 hours no problem. I would definately recommend this powder foundation to anyone with oily skin and is looking for a matte finish. And yes I would definitely repurchase!

I heard about the hype. Yet it didn't interest me because I thought I'd have my HG foundation with Maybelline Superstay foundation, but Estee Lauder is a game changer for me now.
First time I wore this I went swimming on a summer day, everything stayed in place. I took some blotting paper to get rid of the sweat and the foundation still looked untouched. I was very satisfied when I took off my makeup because I didn't need to worry if it melted or cracked. Of course it can't stay on for 15+ hours looking perfect all the time. But when I reach 10 hours it looks like I've worn an average foundation for just a couple of hours. Today I used it again and it's no different than the other day. I'll keep this expensive as a HG for hot, long times (summer, beach, party, clubbing, etc.) and will always be excited to apply it.
- good shade range (Ecru fits good, I'm NW20)
- medium, buildable coverage (this ain't full coverage with one layer for me)
- matte, natural finish (I still use powder because I always want to be sure everything is set)
- stays, no matter how much you sweat
- price (you don't need to buy it if it's too much $ for you)
- packaging (no pump, glass material)
Maybelline Superstay is too dry for my skin, I guess. Yet I have combo skin (oily T-zone, normal/dry cheeks and undereyes). SS can look cakey on me if I'm not careful while applying, it's not as transfer proof as EL and the shade range is meh.
So, welcome new (and forever) HG to the family.

I decided to buy this high-end product thinking that it was going to be of good quality and safe for sensitive skin. I was wrong. This product broke me out so badly. :-( I'm gonna switch back to MAC for now until I discover my holy grail foundation.

I don't usually write reviews but this is a game changer, and I can't believe it took me this long to try it. I am used to having to habitually check my makeup every couple of hours to make sure it hasn't caked up, or turned oily etc - but this. I can go a straight 4 or 5 hours before I need to blot (I still use a primer for best oil control results), and even then the foundation is still fully intact and firmly stuck to my face. I have worn it for 8 hours before and only had to blot once, and that's an absolute dream for me as someone with an oily t-zone.1) Application can be a bit tricky. A little goes a LONG way with this - if you slap on tons like a regular foundation it will look SUPER cakey. It also dries rather quickly so for best results do one section of the face at a time, blending it completely before moving on to the next. Bearing in mind that I dont use beauty blenders, the best method I've found is to pour a little on the back of my hand, lightly dip my Real Techniques buffing brush into it to pick up a small amount, and then blend it onto a section of my face. Repeat until entire face is covered and build up as needed. Using this method I get a really good medium coverage that looks really natural on the skin, and feels light and comfortable. I find that when I try to dot it on my face then blend it out like other foundations I tend to end up applying too much. Really I don't think it is as heavy-looking (or feeling) as some people claim it is if you take the time to sheer it out and blend everything in. 2) Shade match : the shade range is excellent. I wear 3W1 Tawny and it's a HAIR on the pink side but otherwise a great match for my NC35ish neutral yellow skin.3) Longevity. Easily lasts a regular 8-10 hour day for me with minimal need to touch up. It sticks to my face so well I actually have to cleanse extra thoroughly to completely remove it, otherwise I do find that it clogs my pores. I go in with an oil cleanser, and then run a cotton pad soaked with micellar water to pick up extra bits, and then wash my face with my usual face cleanser.Pros :- Great shade range- Easily achieves a high medium coverage, buildable to full.- Matte, but not flat matte imo - this actually makes my skin look really nice.- Lasts through the apocalypse - controls oil really well and still looks very fresh even hours later. - Versatile - if you have drier skin I would recommend mixing this in with a drop of hyaluronic acid or pairing it with a hydrating primer, as you'll get the coverage and longevity without the potentially drying/texture-emphasising effect. Can be applied sparingly for a more skin-like look, or built up to look very full coverage and makeupey if desired. Cons :- Application can take some getting used to.- Can be unforgiving on texture, as most matte foundations I've tried tend to be- I do get dry patches on my nose and this can cling to them. However I don't finding this to emphasise my fine lines any more than my other foundations do despite the matte finish.- Can clog pores if extra care isn't taken to remove it completely. You pretty much NEED an oil cleanser to make sure it's thoroughly removed.- Pump is sold separately if you want one. TL;DR Rating : 11/10 bye bye frequent touch ups where has this been all my life - best suited to those with oilier skin that have issues with makeup longevity, drier skin types can wear this too if modified to be more moisturising. UPDATE : I have taken one lippie off the rating because now that I have worn this a few more times, I do find that it can feel quite heavy and drying on my skin. Careful moisturisation is definitely needed as face prep before putting this foundation on.

I worked for Lauder way back in '97 & did so for several years. I got hooked on this foundation & can't make a change. I have tried MAC, Lancôme, some cheapies with good reviews but nothing is as good as this, in my opinion. It stays on, the color is perfect for my skin tone & I love the coverage.

Holy Grail Product for me. I have fair skin with some mild sun damage that I am now seeing a dermatologist for. I am on light therapy for and Retin A. So, I needed full coverage with a foundation that would not look cakey or splotchy. Also, one that would not dry my face out. Although, before I get into how wonderful this product is I will say that you should use a good moisturizer underneath and SPF, and I use a good primer (Smashbox). But really that's with any foundation. So, in my opinion the formula is quite velvety. It goes on quite smooth and believe me, you do not need a lot. I have found that a dry beauty blender is best if you are wanting full coverage. If you just want a nice, full coverage, but not too much just every flaw covered but breathable and still natural, just use one small amount of a coat: 3 or 4 dots on each cheek and a couple on your forehead and chin-lip. Use the blender and tip for around your nose etc; It is absolutely buildable if you want a heavier look. The price is a bit steep but it is worth every penny and it does not sweat off, it lasts up to 12 hours (seriously-I have long days) and it will not break you out even with sensitive skin like mine. The colors are very nice and natural. I chose Sand. My only gripe about this product is that it does not come with a pump. However, I have heard that you can buy a pump from Mac that fits it perfectly.I bought my Double Wear from Ulta and they really help you there; so, I wish you well in your purchase I think you'll be surprised.Stay Gorg!!!!

For people complaining about the price - dont buy Estee Lauder if you cant afford it! Go to the drugstore. I have tan skin (Mac NC42 to NC44 depending on season) - and miraculously, one of these ten colors is a magical match for my skintone. Honey Bronze. I am obsessed with this foundation - you can just spread it with your fingers as the lady in Nordstrom told me, but it goes on great with a brush or beauty blender. I dont do any "prep" on my skin with this foundation, it goes on nicely on top of moisturizer. Currently I use several different MAC foundations, Make up Forever Velvet Matte, Georgio Armani Luminous Silk - I would rank this #2. The MUFE is hands down the nicest on my skin. I have a lot of post-acne scarring which get covered up nicely with this Estee Lauder foundation and its actually way better than Georgio Armani which costs like $65.

For reference: my HG bronzers are Guerlain Terracotta for both the color and the performance during the day. But I sometimes get sick of using the same ones, so I tried the Bronze Goddess ones. It looked promising as I tried the shades in shop and the ingredients didn't show up anything that would possibly clog or break me out. So I got the shades 02 and 04. It's smooth powder, finely milled, the tiny shimmer bits aren't obvious, and on skin it blends reasonably smoothly. I mean, there are finer and better bronzers out there (like Terracotta or others for way less money). Bronze Goddess doesn't last very long on skin, it tends to disappear or gets wiped away from places where my hair comes in contact with it, that's an odd thing that no other bronzing powder does to me. During mid-day Bronze Goddess also tends to start to emphasize skin's texture, i.e., it creates texture where there is none, and it's not a flattering look. So the performance isn't exactly stellar, a less expensive NYX or Sleek bronzer outperforms this one on my skin. The worst flaw in my opinion is that this bronzer oxidizes, it starts out beautifully, reddish-brown radiant tan, but about half-way through the day (when the bronzer probably starts to break apart) it oxidizes and turns orange and a bit muddy. It ends up looking like an unfortunate self-tanning accident. I ended up giving the 02 shade away and 04 I sometimes use as eyeshadow, as the shade contrasts nicely with my eye color and I don't mind it oxidizing on my eyelid (the more orange my e/s is the more the blue in my eyes pops). All in all, it would be a great value for the amount you get, but it has pesky performance issues and the oxidation makes me rate it poorly. Though, it mirrors my over-all experience with Estere Lauder make-up as a whole, it's rather mediocre when it comes to actual performance, which is a shame as the shades are usually well suited for everyday wear. I do like the sturdy packing of the bronzer, I've dropped it a couple times and it survived intact (which is more I can say for the notoriously bad shells Guerlain uses for Terracotta).
