Original review deleted & resubmitted 22nd April 2018 to reflect Chanel No 5 presently.
I feel incredibly strongly about Chanel No 5. the original - not the flankers. Thanks for reading. Very Loyal Chanel customer but I have my opinions.

Chanel No 5 is a true classic . It is what I called The Golden Ratio in Scent . Everything about it was / is ( i guess even , after the reformulation ) perfect / almost - to me.
EDT is my favorite formulation and I have gone through bottles and bottles of it. Today's verison is vastly thinner and less long lasting than even the old Cologne version. It has been reformulated but I still buy because after all the serious gutting of this scent, this is practically my ONLY reminder of the the true majesty of Chanel No .5 & what it USED to be.

EDP - a 1980s version by Jacque Polge - also very beautiful but recently quite gutted by the reformulations. Less ylang, more vanilla , less substantial in general and poorer tenacity, thinner in general, the scent profile is not quite the same. The EDP was also a veritable joy ..now , not so much. However, as with the EDT , I buy what is available .....

If you are going to do this to Le Monstre ( No. 5 ) - to save / make money , Chanel ..please release your new version of Chanel No 5 Eau de Parfum Intense.( Like you did with Coco Mademosielle . )

The parfum extrait was also beyond beauty .It was as the most wonderful version of No .5 - golden, bright ,full bodied, 3 dimensional.. like very fine champagne , deep and long lasting. Truly magnificent. I have no words to describe it really.
There was a valid reason for its fame and ability to last so many decades as a top seller world wide. I once declared I would only ever buy the extrait again ..not any more .

Today , it is weak , alcoholic, soft, missing a lot of neroli ,citrus and a helluva lot more vanilla added to the base. It smells closer to the new reformulated EDP .
The last good parfum extrait I had was made in 2011. The 30 ml bottle I have was made in 2014. It is not the same.

***********My message to Chanel .
All your customers who buy Chanel No 5 are not dead yet.
We maybe be older but we do know Chanel No .5 because a lot of us have worn it like a second skin for decades.
You try & attract a younger demographic which is fine but don't forget your roots. Use some of the great scent technology to... at least try and restore No 5 to what it was. Classic No 5. NOT your L'eau ,Eau Premiere and whatever you will think up next .

In efforts to Join The Young Club , you are watering down No .5 and more importantly , you are changing Chanel No .5 far too much through your reformulations.
Preserve, not alter. Educate , do not alter Chanel No 5 to the whims of fragrance fashion of this century.

Lotions/ Creams -Chanel -No 5 Body Lotion

The price is USD 55 + before tax now.

This is a wonderful product.

The lotion is light pink in color. It is sheer and watery in texture but absorbs very well and quickly into skin.
The scent is ..as a lot of people have said is DIVINE.

I have used Chanel No 5 for close to 30 years now ..through the reformulations & discontinuations of various Chanel No 5 ancillary products and the Cologne. The EDT is my favorite formulation and closest to the original scent of No 5 ..to me.
The body lotion is closest in scent to the EDT and is surprisingly long lasting - as it should be ( esp . for the price. !)
Highly recommended 5 star product.
Chanel - don't you dare fiddle with the formulation of this one.

As an extra.
Chanel No. 5 bar soap does not smell like Chanel No 5 at all. I will not buy the soap again .

Fragrances -Chanel -Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum Intense

I had high hopes for this flanker to Coco Mademoiselle. It was described as a deeper and richer version of CM so I bought a bottle. When first sprayed I had to look at the bottle because it was Coco Mademoiselle with no hint that it would evolve into something that would become a Chanel classic. I knew the top notes (mostly citrus - grapefruit) would dissipate in a few minutes and the mid or heart notes would appear. The heart notes are supposedly floral - jasmine, orange blossom and tuberose - were very soft and too far in the background to have any real presence. I was hoping the base notes of patchouli, tonka bean, musk and sandalwood would bring out the heart notes making Coco Mademoiselle Intense more than a slightly different version of Coco Mademoiselle. After 30 minutes nothing had changed and the scent was starting to fade. I sprayed Coco Mademoiselle on one wrist and the "Intense" version on the other wrist. The only exception was there was less citrus in the "Intense". I know perfumers add aromatic compounds to fragrance to extend the scent life. Eau De Parfum is supposed to contain between 10 - 20% of the aromatic compound and I would guess the "Intense" is about 10% considering how quickly it fades on well moisturized skin. (Eau De Toilette is between 5 - 20%). I do know there are several factors that can alter the scent of a perfume. Things such as foods that are eaten, medications, bath soap and the chemistry of your skin. Hopefully Chanel will come out with a CM Intense lotion or body cream to help the longevity of the perfume. I don't believe in over-powering perfume but I do want it to be noticeable to more than just myself and only if I sniff my wrist. The bottle I bought came from Chanel as I buy only authentic fragrances. I want to point out this is on MY SKIN and the scent could be different on your skin. Have a SCENTsational day!

I fell in love with the scent from the first whiff. It was light even with the floral notes. I’ve always been attracted to the vanilla scent and this parfum is a nice blend and not overpowering unlike Tom Ford’s orchid series. However, the scent doesn’t last long and fades off maybe after 4 hours. I work in an office so it isn’t because I perspire. I would love for it to be more lasting. It is also pricey for even the 30ml bottle. But Chanel’s perfumes have always been priced on the high side. The packaging is not too environmentally friendly with all the cardboard to hold the bottle in place. I’m sure there’s a smarter design solution to this. I’ll definitely buy it again if it were on discount.

The scent is too heavy and there are masculine notes which isn’t palatable for me.

It was my signature till the Intense version came into my life. A classic but watered down through the years, sadly.

It was hard to find it as it was sold out in my city. It's such a beautiful fragrance and I can see myself wearing it all year. Fruitier, sexier and warmer than the original Mademoiselle. Also, first time in my life getting compliments with my perfume choice lol

I one hundred percent agree with Olfactoria's review below me. My fiance gave me a 50ml bottle of this for my birthday in 2015. I loved it at the time, before I was a bit more versed in fragrance. Now I'm into the old classics. Coco Mademoiselle is like EDM music, and the statement ones such as Youth Dew, Shalimar, Opium, Cinnabar and Coco are like classic rock. CM smells so commercial to me. It's well constructed, and it has amazing longevity. But I only wear it occasionally. Maybe it's the generous citrus in the formula, I can't pinpoint what it is, but it's just too teeny-bopperish, and conjures up the mall in my head. My fiance also gave me the OG Coco on the birthday after, and that's what wrecked my temporary CM fling. I apologize to the CM lovers, but the OG Coco, and other vintage classics, are sooooo much better imo.

Toners -Chanel -Lotion Purete Mattifying Toner

foto

Back in my early skincare days, I had no idea what ingredients actually worked effectively. I bought this at Macy's when I was desperate for a solution to keep my oily skin at bay.

The issue with this toner is that it will dry out your skin from all the alcohol. This will initially work great because it seems at first like it's controlling the oil. However, over time you will realize this toner turns you into more of a greaseball because your skin will try to balance all the harsh ingredients by producing more oil. I kept breaking out and couldn't figure out why. Turns out my skin was overproducing oil because I had been drying it out so much with harsh alcohols.

I finally threw this in the trash. It's annoying wasting money, but your face is irreplaceable. I'd rather lose money than continue to damage my skin with the harsh ingredients in this toner.

Lipstick -Chanel -Rouge Coco Stylo

So my mom bought me a Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo lipstick shade 216 Lettre back in SG. When I saw it for the first time, well packaging wise It's good. So then I tried it on my lips and I completely fell in love with the color. But the problem is, you can easily wipe off this lipstick away... If you're more into matte lipstick, well I think this product is not what you're looking for. And I'm not gonna buy this lipstick ever again because It's expensive.

I absolutely love this lip colour. I have bought many luxury lipsticks in my time, and this is by far the best. So far I only have one colour - Amoureux - but I am going to buy more today. Amoureux is my perfect MLBB colour. It looks sleek and sophisticated for work, and yet natural for weekends, just smoothed in a little more. The packaging is beautiful and easy to carry around, and I love the frosted glass effect. I especially like the fact that it is small - even though it is expensive! - as I have taken to carrying it around with me. The colour does not last as long as I would like - a couple of hours, less if drinking or eating, but it fades evenly and naturally, which has been an issue with other recent expensive purchases. I am prepared to keep buying it, because of the colour, the ease of application, the lack of stickiness and the lovely packaging. Like one of the other reviewers, I see myself ditching all my other lip products and just keeping this in my bag.

I cannot wear regular CM, even though it smells wonderful on others. Yet the Intense version wears well on me. I detect the patchouli and vanilla. This imparts a warm and comforting scent and seems wearable year round.

Irresistable to me. I try new fragrances, that is to say I cheat on Coco Mademoiselle, but I always find myself back reaching for it at the store and smiling. Such a signature that people ask when they smell.

Lipstick -Chanel -Rouge Coco Shine - Boy

It is a very natural nude colour that is almost invisible after application. It is so natural looking that it is like your natural lip colour just prettier. It feels very light on the lips after application and does not leave whitish-marks.
I wish it were a bit more hydrating though.
