Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop -Almond Oil Daily Hand & Nail Cream

on 12/28/2017 8:19:00 PM

I found this left my hands quite greasy, and I did not find it very hydrating/moisturizing which kind of defeats the purpose of a hand cream.

I did love the scent, but not being able to hold pencils, or anything really, without them slipping from my hands is a let down.

Cleansers -The Body Shop -Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter

on 12/28/2017 8:16:00 PM

To start, I'm one of those ladies who uses things like coconut oil and a washable make-up wipe (think knock-off makeup eraser cloth) to remove my makeup/skincare at the end of the day. But I was feeling indulgent one day so I picked up this butter/balm to test out.

This cleansing butter smells very nice, and it I found that it definitely worked at removing my makeup, including mascara (not the waterproof variety, I don't own any so I don't know how well it works on that). I found that I did have to work it into my eyeliner for that to come off easily.

I bought this during one of the Body Shop's sales, a few months back. It lasted me about 4 months, which in my opinion, is not a very long time. This could also be due to the fact that I found I had to use a lot of the butter to get enough of it on my face to work, I used about the size of a walnut.

It did rinse away nicely though, like most cleansing oils, it rinsed away cleanly in a milky texture taking the makeup/residue with it, I found that it left my skin feeling a tad dry after rinsing, but my biggest issue with this cleansing butter is that it made my eyes burn something fierce every time I used it. I did not like that about it, and for that reason alone I would not repurchase.

I'm off to try some other cleansing oils/balms. Or maybe just stick to my tried and true methods.

Foundations -The Body Shop -Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation

on 12/27/2017 1:41:00 PM

Love at first use! It provided amazing coverage with just one thin layer, stayed matte during my 8+ hour shift and didn't transfer onto my glasses. It did oxidize a little, but nothing to worry about. The only bad thing is that it looks a bit cakey after a few hours, but blotting solved that for me.
This is the first foundation ever to work on my extremelly oily skin and not look at least a little bit shiny after a few hours - maybe because it dries down to a powder finish.

Shampoo -The Body Shop -Ginger Shampoo Normal/Dry hair and Loose Dandruff

on 12/20/2017 4:05:00 AM

I've tried this for about two weeks then decided to make a review. Honestly, I like this product thou it smells like ginger..hahaha.. my hair felt smooth, less dry and tangle free after using the shampoo and conditioner. This also helps to lessen my dandruff. The only con is it can be quite pricey.

Foundations -The Body Shop -Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation

I didn't like this product though I had so many high expectations for it... It was highly advertised when it first launched. I have to say the price was relatively cheap for the standard 1 fl. oz compared to many other drugstore brands. It isn't as thick as some may say. You'd expect a clay foundation to be thick but compared to others like the elf acne foundation, it is much runnier. I found that it looked SUPER matte I don't understand why many didn't find it looked that way after it dried down. Made me look like I had powdered foundation on top of normal foundation. I'd put a tiny dab and spread with my fingers and yet I'd look super cakey and really made it look like I was wearing a thick layer of foundation as even my friends pointed out. The colour was rather ashy though it did match me and when I started getting oily, the foundation would break out around those areas or rub off making my once nonexistent pores look HUGE and the foundation clumpy as heck around the oily areas. Ended up selling it off as there was no way I could ever hope to finish it. I did get some spots a well but I can't blame this product since I sometimes get new acne randomly but no major breakouts, which is a plus for those with highly reactive skin like mine. Product smells nice, a very, very faint tea tree and earthy smell but fortunately nothing harsh. All in all, sometimes you have to try it out as everyone's skin looks and reacts differently.

Primer/ Corrector -The Body Shop -All-In-One Instablur 5-Action Perfector

My T zone is oily and some parts peeve me with their shining no matter what foundation I’m wearing. I bought this primer by accident and testing thought it looked the most matte I’d ever seen. Well, it works just the way I want. I apply in onto my T zone, and it’s matte absolutely for 10 hours.

Cleansers -The Body Shop -Vitamin C Cleansing Face Polish

on 12/16/2017 11:19:00 AM

I SWEAR BY THIS!!!! Honestly my favorite daily cleanser. I know it’s meant to be a scrub but it doesn’t even feel like one and unlike many scrubs it never makes my skin feel tight or irritated.
No joke this makes my skin looks so bright and smooth and this even made my acne scars fade away.
Although it is expensive I believe you’re getting every penny’s worth!

Foundations -The Body Shop -All-In-One Face Base

Really good powder foundation giving a soft-matte almost velvety finish. On days when I’m in a rush I can always count on this to give me a quick glam up. However it does seem to fade after a while and settle into fine lines- but most powder foundations seem to do that anyway.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop -White Musk Extra Rich Body Cream

on 12/14/2017 3:32:00 AM

White Musk is something of an anomaly in that it's one of the only TBS scents I can even stand, let alone enjoy... do not speak to me of their Moringa scent, nor their Moroccan Rose, for they are the bringers of migraine and nausea and all other sorts of bad things. To be quite frank, I'm not a fan of the White Musk EdT either, as it smells a bit metallic and thin to me. But I do really enjoy the way the body products in the line smell. (And I may yet enjoy the perfume oil, I've just never smelled it before.)

I enjoy perfume but don't find much occasion to wear it, especially for work. Body lotions are a good way to enjoy scents without suffocating everyone else who uses the elevator at work, and also to make it more fun to moisturize. It's nice and rich and moisturizing enough for the body (and soothing when the weather is dry), but with a smooth powdery (almost silky) finish, not greasy or sticky like body lotions can be. It's an elegant finish, and the scent makes me feel elegant too.

This review is for the Smooth Satin Body Lotion which seems to have been discontinued, but I couldn't find it anywhere else on MUA to review. I THINK the regular body lotion that they have now might be the same thing, but not having tried it myself, I can't say for sure. I also liked the subtle lavender iridescence of the bottle they used for the Smooth Satin version, and don't know if they kept it for the current version.

Eye Makeup Remover -The Body Shop -Chamomile Eye Makeup Remover

on 12/13/2017 4:14:00 AM

This hurts my eyes soooo bad. It actually burns them. The bottle broke too (but I think it was my carelessness). I don't like to use this product until I actually have no other option. It does get stubborn eye makeup off but you really have to dig in there and then it ends up getting into my eye and burning it. I have to take a dry q-tip and actually take the liquid out of my eye to make the pain go away :(
I would never purchase this again, just use coconut oil or bioderma or something else.

BB Cream -The Body Shop -Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream

on 12/11/2017 3:08:00 AM

This has no coverage, if I have to rate the coverage it would be 1/5. But nonetheless, it has a good smell and it helps with my very mild breakouts. It's also not sticky but the longevity is about 3 hours only. I only wear this whenever I have some pimples.

Moisturizers -The Body Shop -Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet

on 12/10/2017 7:34:00 PM

I'm really enjoying this product!! I'm cleansing with the chamomile butter to remove makeup, gel grapefruit cleanser from Malin+Goetz, after patting my face dry I will use one of various toners I have from the body shop ( tea tree toner if I am around my period or having any breakouts, aloe toner if im sensitive, or vitamin e toner with dry winter skin) gently swipe one of those with a cotton pad over entire face and neck.

Honestly Im not big on using serums lately, so I go in with body shops vitamin e essence lotion and pour some into my hand and pat gently all over my face, as my first layer of hydration. Then, during this time of the year being winter, I will pat a beauty oil over the essence and for me Josie Marans agran oil has been working beautifully. Then I finish everything off with this sorbet to help seal in everything I have used. This light weight cream has dimethicone in it which basically helps to keel hydration locked into your skin, preventing epidermal water loss. The problem some people are having with this is that they are treating it like plain moisturizer right after they cleanse and its not giving enough moisture. This cream is intended to use similar to Clinique moisture surge, works best paired with hydration underneath and this cream helps to lock it all in.

On its own, its very light weight and sits very well under makeup or used in place of a primer. Which is how I use it for day time, I will just tone with a cotton pad, spritz face with vitamin e face mist or another facial mist, then finish with this sorbet and my face is ready makeup!

Bottom line, if you are DRY or using for nighttime nourishment purposes, this is a finishing cream to lock in all your moisture from either oils, serums, creams, etch. If you sore oily/combination you can use as your moisturizer for a lightweight hydration.

As far as smell, it seems much more perfumey in the jar than it does on my actual skin. It does not smell like the rest of the vitamin e line, its a much sweeter fruity smell that may bother some sensitive noses but I think it dissipates fairly quickly after applying. I was hoping it would smell like the vitamin e toner or the facial spray which smell like rose water but this one is different,

Overall I would totally repurchase! I used to use Clinique moisture surge the same way I use thud sorbet, but this is a fraction of the cost. The performance is the same in my opinion but the main differences is that Clinique's is completely free of any fragrance smell and also the texture if the creams. Cliniques is a medium thick gel cream and this sorbet is like a thicker gel with very tiny gritty grains that you can't actually feel while applying to the skin. Both leave a nice velvety soft touch to your skin.

I recommend!

Masks -The Body Shop -Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow mask

on 12/6/2017 6:51:00 PM

Amazing mask - tightens my pores, minimizes breakouts and leaves my skin glowing. Massive pain to wash off though, the leaves/charcoal extracts like to stick. Price is reasonable and packaging is gorgeous.

Moisturizers -The Body Shop -Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet

on 12/6/2017 5:29:00 AM

I bought this product because my skin was relatively dry and had some dry, flaky patches. Obviously, since this is marketed as The Body Shop's range for dry skin, I thought it would help. However, after using this product for over a month, my skin had become SEVERELY dry and dehydrated, causing a host of skin problems. I would NOT recommend this product to anyone with dry skin.
