Treatments (Face) -Deciem -The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%

on 6/15/2018 12:12:00 AM

Oh how I wanted to like this stuff! I have used prescription azelaic acid (Finacea) and it was great for my skin, but the co-pays are obscene. So hoping that this lower strength formula would work for me. Unfortunately the formulation is very very drying. It seems to have mattifying agents in it, unlike the Finacea gel formula. It felt very uncomfortable on my face despite being 10% vs. the 15% in the Finacea gel.

If you have really oily skin you might like this formula, but if you are using it with rosacea prone normal to dry skin, beware. I wish The Ordinary would make this in a formula that is not so drying!

Treatments (Face) -Deciem -The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2%

on 6/14/2018 7:09:00 PM

I've just finished my bottle of this. I used it every 4th night and applied moisturiser and oil over the top of it. I have dry aging skin with a lot of sun damage. I have wrinkles.

This didn't magically make my wrinkles disappear or cause me to wake up one morning looking like a 20 year old.

It feels nice on the skin, it doesn't upset my skin, it doesn't dry out my skin. It didn't cause break outs or irritation or any other issues and its cheap.

I added retinoids to my skincare routine a year ago as i had noticed my skin was dull and had a lot of texture on my cheek bones. At the time I added a retinoid product (LRP), the lactic acid from The Ordinary and Vitamin C products. Over the past 12 months I've noticed an improvement in my skin, the texture slowly sloughed away and my skin became brighter and softer. I have gone from using heavier foundations to cover up non healthy looking skin to using sheer coverage because I'm happy with how healthy my skin looks. I still have discolouration from years of living outdoors in the sun, but overall my skin looks so much nicer. I attribute those positive changes to adding retinoids along with a gentle AHA and vitamin C into my skincare routine. I will continue to use retinoid products, especially affordable ones such as this one.

Treatments (Face) -Deciem -The Ordinary Alpha Lipoic Acid Serum

Thanks to MUA reviewers I decided to give this a try. I am 51 with combination acne-prone skin and melasma patches from old Sun damage. I use this 2-3 nights a week, alternating with retin A. This stings very slightly on application and there is a slight, odd odor. No worries though, because I wake up with super soft, glowing skin. I am ordering a spare for a backup, plus getting one for my daughter. Never want to run out of this amazing stuff!

Treatments (Face) -Deciem -The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%

on 6/14/2018 7:55:00 AM

I have been using this for 2 months. Have honestly yet to see any fading of my PIH and discoloration. However I did notice an overall glow up to my complexion, but it is not drastic enough for me to want to continue purchasing this product.

First reaction : It stung a lot. And the packaging is not ideal, it is quite a runny liquid so I would have preferred a pump. Then the stinging sensation faded after 1 minute and the rest of the times I used it, there were no more stinging reactions. It is quite a heavy layer on the skin, I had to wait close to 30 minutes for it to be absorbed by my skin. Definitely a night time product. It has also an almost oily consistency, with small spherical granules.

All in all, if you want your complexion to brighten a little, give it a whirl. I would recommend sticking to other formulations though.

Skincare - Face -Deciem -Hylamide - Pore Delete

on 6/13/2018 4:42:00 AM

This is Deciem's most miraculous finishing product. The finish it leaves the skin with is spellbinding, and is vastly superior to that offered by Hylamide's HA Blur or Matte 12, or any primer from The Ordinary's line. Keep in mind: This is a finisher, not a makeup primer or a skincare product. It's meant to go on top of everything you have on your face, including your makeup.

As with all incredible products, though, there is a catch. The catch here is that Pore Delete has a tremendously steep learning curve, and if you want to make it work for you, you'll have to commit to it. You'll have to experiment several times before you can step out with this product on your face - otherwise, don't bother.

There is an even bigger catch. You cannot mess with your face once you have this on. Don't scratch, don't rub, don't bother re-applying sunscreen or makeup or anything. Otherwise, the film that Pore Delete forms on your face will be disrupted, and will create weird white patches on your face. It doesn't 'ball up', per se - it'll just leave patches and will take off all the layers of stuff you have underneath. Once you have this on, that's it - consider your face put under lock and key until you cleanse at night. You can blot, obviously, and if you have a sunscreen mist, you can reapply that way, but do not partake in anything that involves rubbing on your skin.

This is a high-maintenance 'urban' product. It takes effort to put it on, and it takes a conscious effort to avoid disrupting the product.

This is why I'm giving the product 4 stars. The way it makes the skin look is way beyond 5 stars - 6 stars, even - but this is an extremely finicky product. There's no telling if it'll work with your preexisting skincare, your sunscreen, your foundation, the rest of your makeup - it may or may not work. It may or may not leave you looking patchy and white. It may or may not ball up. Once you do manage to figure it out, though, it will look perfectly translucent, even transparent, on your skin. If your sunscreen won't work with this, use a different sunscreen. If your foundation won't work with this, use a different foundation. If you aren't willing to give up what works for you, swap the Pore Delete for the other finishers in Hylamide's line - namely HA Blur and Matte 12. Those are far more forgiving, from a user perspective.

Personally, I found that this did not work with Glossier's Perfecting Skin Tint in Dark (middle shade) *at all*. I don't use foundation, but rather a sheer skin tint from Glossier instead, and putting the Pore Delete on top oxidised the Skin Tint so much that it turned a terrible shade of orange. If this is how the product reacts with the sheerest of tints, imagine it on top of full-coverage foundation - it'd be a disaster. The odds of this not working with foundation are pretty high.

The Pore Delete is a milky-white, runny liquid. It's packaged in a screw-top squeezy bottle with a pointy dispenser. I know people are complaining about the packaging, but this is about as good as it will get. A dropper would make a tremendous mess and expose the contents of the bottle to air, and a pump would dispense way too much product.

The liquid has reflective prisms in it that aren't visible when it's in its viscous state. However, if you were to have a light shining directly in your face, and if you were to rub your skin with Pore Delete on, you'll see the prisms glittering and bouncing light off in all directions like disco balls. It's a pretty surreal sight.

With the Pore Delete, you have to dispense a tiny drop on a single fingertip - one drop at a time - and then gently pat that drop onto a specific area of your face. Say, your right cheek. Then repeat the process for your left cheek. Then for your nose, then for your forehead, and so on. To make the process more seamless, dispense a nice amount on a non-absorbent flat surface - like a palm makeup palette like the one used by MUAs - and then use the product directly from the palette instead of going through the hassle of squeezing out multiple drops from the bottle during a single application.

Your skin will be mattified, but in a way that preserves your glow. You know when mattifiers make you look corpse-like leaving you too matte? This doesn't do that. In addition to the matte effect, your skin will be blurred beyond your wildest dreams. No, your pores won't 'disappear', that is a completely unrealistic expectation to have and you need to adjust your expectations, but the blur this product provides will make them vanish by at least 70-80%, tops. Your skin will be like a smooth canvas. Pretty much like a baby's butt.

Because of the complications involved with making this product work, I seriously considered returning it. It took me weeks to figure this thing out. It is now a staple part of my routine.

I'm sorry, but I'm going back to the Matte 12. This is just too fickle a product. It's honestly heartbreaking, because the finish is so good, but UGH.... I need something that can perform every day, with minimal effort, and this is just not it. Like, you really have to struggle to put this on. I don't wanna struggle with my face every morning. Life is enough of a struggle!!!

The star component in this product is the Adipic Acid, which is composed of little white spheres that reflect and bounce light off like disco balls. Adipic Acid is just difficult to handle and there's a reason why it's not in many products. Until Adipic Acid technology is more advanced, I think I'll lay off these products :/

Treatments (Face) -Deciem -The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

on 6/12/2018 9:48:00 AM

I've been using this daily for about a month and it has been amazing for my super oily skin. I am so, so happy I found it! I squirt about half a pipette into my usual blob of EltaMD UV Clear sunscreen in the morning, apply (making sure I cover my t-zone well), wait for it to dry, and then put on makeup (liquid foundation with a beauty sponge). I have never had an issue with it pilling or balling up. My makeup lasts so long because I BARELY get oily!! I previously had to blot basically all day long and now I blot once, MAYBE twice the whole day. I'm so excited about this product. I think it may be lightening my acne scars and brightening a bit as well, but the most noticeable result has definitely been for my oily skin. Also, I am very acne prone and it has not broken me out. So happy this works so well!

Moisturizers -Deciem -NIOD Hydration Vaccine

on 6/12/2018 2:03:00 AM

Great occlusive to keep my skin hydrated and perfect silicone-like primer for my mineral makeup. This doesn't actually add moisture but seals it in, preventing trans-epidermal water loss like an absolute boss. Over time, it has dramatically improved the look and feel of my skin, plumping it and reducing Winter flakes in the best possible way.

The packaging is just the worst though, ugh. I don't mind having to use a spatula to get it out of the jar, but whyyyyy is it it a tall jar with an awkward neck? Really Deciem, I get that you like your clinical, sciencey-looking packaging, but please. Just stick this in a tube. Great product though, I won't stop buying it just because of the annoying jar. Love it.

Treatments (Face) -Deciem -The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2%+B5

on 6/11/2018 8:51:00 PM

I'm on my second bottle and use it every other night on top of the ordinary niacinimide serum and I love it. On the other nights I use .1% retin-a and have been using retin-a for about 10 years. I have noticed my pores tightening, my hooded eyelids aren't so droopy and my skin is texture is just improved. I'm not sure if it's the niacinimide serum or both but for the price I'll keep it in my current routine.

I'm on my second bottle so I think I can review the Niacinamide and give a true response. I use it on the nights that I don't use my retin-a, so that is every other night. I have noticed that my pores are smaller, my hooded eyelids aren't drooping as much and my skin seems a bit tighter. I follow it with The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2%*B5. I've been using Retin-a for a long time so I can't say that this is all from the Niacinamide but for the price I'll keep using it.

Treatments (Face) -Deciem -The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane

on 6/11/2018 10:39:00 AM

Love. Pure and simple.

My skin is thin, sensitive, prone to redness, breakouts and dry patches. Although it reacts quickly to products, it can sometimes be difficult to make it stay in a good shape. Enter this (or really, any The Ordinary retinoids).

I started with the 2% Retinoid Emulsion, then bought the 2% in Squalane, and finally the 5%. They all give me immediate results, that only get better as the weeks go by. I have had zero irritiation, which was a fear that has kept me from trying retinol-products in the past. My skin looks smoother, less red, less see-through, and breakouts are healed and kept at bay. I only use at night to protect the Vit A from sun exposure.
The Ordinary's retinoids have completely taken over from my former Vit A favourite, Beaute Pacifique Super 3 Booster. Mainly due to being so damn affordable, as well as allowing me to shuffle different strengths and formulations according to my needs.

Moisturizers -Deciem -The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane

I’ve been using this with regularity (not daily but a few times a week) for several months now and I’m here to finally bestow my wisdom upon you; no need to thank me but you’re welcome (that’s a joke btw).
This is one of those products that I wasn’t totally convinced I “needed” nor did I fully understand what makes it potentially superior to other oils. To be honest I’m still not sure about that - other than the shelf-life and the fact that it is a component found naturally in human skin. The latter is what made me want to try it. Well, that and the fact that A. It exists and B. It’s inexpensive.
I use oils on my skin a lot, and many different types; from coconut to oil to emu to jojoba, get the idea.
For reference I’ve got good skin but dry skin and it’s not sensitive at all or prone to breakouts.
Do I find this to be a revolutionary game changer in the oil arena? No. I mean, it’s oil. However, as oils go I find the winning attributes of this one to be as follows:

Scent free

Excellent viscosity (not thick, this is thin and liquidy which makes it much more comfortable to wear than other oils. Also quite moisturizing for such a thin oil.

Good absorption - this does not sit on the skin it comfortably penetrates

Moisturizing - oddly, I find that a lot of oils don’t leave my skin feeling as hydrated after a while (meaning an hour not after regular use)

Not sticky or greasy (some oils - castor - are very sticky. Others become sticky once they’ve been opened - almond - and oils like coconut oil I find quite greasy)

And, all of the above properties also make it;

Easy to use and very efficient with other products. From skin care to cosmetics.
I’ve mixed it with my foundation and even my concealer in the dry winter months. It’s now become part of my nighttime regimen for added moisture and absorption (I’m not 100% that it actually aids absorption but it seems to). It’s also great to extend products - I added a drop each time I used to the last of my Cle De Peau cream (i know but I can’t help it I love that stuff) and got several more days out of it than I would have. I’ve added it to body creams that are a bit on the thick, too-occlusive side...

But also works well when going solo - When used on it’s own (some nights I just can’t be bothered with more than one product) I wake up with surprisingly soft skin, more so than with other oils, and even many creams.

basically I’ve done everything but drink it. Yet.

This product has made my face look glowy and plump. It's hydrating and very pleasant to use. I'm using it in combination with CAIS twice a day and my skin is behaving like young skin again. I do use a moisturiser on top just to seal it in. My sensitive skin has had no advetse reaction to it. Excellent product, will repurchase.

Tried 4 or 5 time, broke out within a day every time. I wanted to love it since it’s FA safe, but it just does not agree with my skin. I may try another source
