Eyeliner -NYX -Slim Eye / Eyebrow Pencil - 901 Black

on 11/16/2017 7:40:00 AM

I had this in brown and it was utter garbage! The formula is so solid it just didn't transfer to my eyelid, no matter how many times I tried to draw it on. It was pretty useless as an eyebrow pencil too for the same reason. Sharpening it was a nightmare as well as it kept snapping, even though I was really careful not to drop it at any point.

I'm guessing NYX must have realised how awful it is as it doesn't seem to be available on their UK website or in stores any longer. Which in my opinion is a decision well made. If you're looking for a decent eyeliner on a budget, try the Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencils instead. The formulas awesome, they have a good range of colours, they apply really nicely and they have a twist-mechanism meaning you don't need a sharpener!

Brows -NYX -Micro Brow Pencil

Love the packaging and that you get a spoolie on the end. The lids do fall off if you travel with it, which is annoying. The pencil is easy to use and control. It's not too stiff and not too soft and blends out well.

I use Ash Brown and it's not super ashy, it's almost a little bit warm. It lasts easily on its own for a full 12 hours even without setting it with a gel. I feel a lot better spending $12 for a brow product rather than the $27 for the same amount of product on a more expensive product. HG status!

Loose Powders -NYX -HD Studio Finishing Powder

on 11/15/2017 4:59:00 PM

I needed a new loose powder, and wanted to try the nyx loose powder, because I like nyx. When I’ve tried it on my face, it was drying and the powder was all up in the air, I’ve inhaled a lot. The worst of all is that it has MAJOR flashback, and I’m very pale so for deeper skin tones I think it’s only worse. This is not what a setting powder should be. I suggest you could better use your money for other setting powders.

Lipstick -NYX -Butter Lipstick

I have this in BLS11 which is LIcorice. This does leave a stain after putting it on. Unfortunately, it smudges and transfers fairly easily when eating and drinking so you have to reapply often. It has a nice vanilla smell. It's moisturizing enough. I probably wont buy again though.

Pressed Powders -NYX -HD Finishing Powder Translucent

on 11/15/2017 12:49:00 PM

- Great oil control and blurring effect.
- Is translucent and doesn't make my skin look white
- Really smooth (not chalky)
- Great price

-No mirror or puff so not ideal for on-the-go touch ups.

Concealers -NYX -HD Photogenic Concealer Wand (All Shades)

on 11/15/2017 12:45:00 PM

The coverage is poor and doesn't fully cover my dark circles and skin imperfections. However, the formula is great and stays on my skin without creasing (without baking too!) for an entire day.

They recently added coconut oil to the formula, which is great on my dry skin but is something you should be aware of if coconut oil breaks you out.

Primer/ Corrector -NYX -Makeup Setting Spray - Matte Finish

on 11/15/2017 9:33:00 AM

Works sooo much better than MUFE STEP 1 mattifying primer. I like the fact that I don’t need to blot my makeup. Just by spraying this on my face, Voila! My face is matte again.

Concealers -NYX -HD Photogenic Concealer Wand Green

on 11/15/2017 9:14:00 AM

OKAY. first of all, can i just say, it really bothers me that you get so little product in these tubes. shape tape is 3x the size of this so to be able to truly + fairly compete with tarte in particular this needs to be thrice the size and cost AT LEAST $15. just an observation i've made and the reason i've given this 3 lippies for price - it's really not so cheap when you consider the cost per oz. it's $45 per oz ffs! granted a lot of midrange/high end concealers cost much more per oz but it's still good to be cognizant of these kinds of things. tbh i'm seriously considering buying a full coverage foundation to use as concealer instead of a dedicated concealer for spot concealing just because the shade ranges for foundations are usually better anyway and it would be more economical as well. but anyway. i digress. concealer.

i hate this for color correcting blemishes, but i've heard some people mention they have some success mixing it into some moisturizer and applying it all over to eliminate generalized redness. i think that's a great idea. i'm on board with that. i will always be on board w girls innovating w their useless makeup and macgyvering something they can actually benefit from. i do the same thing. but i don't mix this in with moisturizer.

yall, this is like the blue mixer of concealers [albeit w a strong white base, YMMV]. the other concealers in this line that are supposed to be skin toned oxidize super orange and aren't wearable for me anywhere but under my eyes. BUT THIS. THIS IS AMAZING. i mix a small amount of this with some of my orange concealer and it makes it sooo neutrally beige. also lightens it a bit. and it doesn't look green at all if you mix the right ratios; shoot, even if you add a little too much green sometimes the orange evens it out as it oxidizes and warms up. high maintenance? yep. i don't recommend doing this if you don't love the formula of NYX concealers, or can already find your shade in another brand's line. but if you're like me and ur dumb and u live overseas but went back home to visit and bought four tubes of one shade to stock up thinking they were another, or found the shade u wanted intially on a website in your current country later on and bought it thinking it might be a better match but it was STILL too orange so now you're stuck with 5 tubes of unusable concealer and one tube of unused green corrector, NOW U GOT OPTIONS.

i would imagine this could also be combined with other lines of tube concealers if you really enjoy another formula but cant get the depth/undertone to work for you. i'm hoping i can try other lines after i move back home and find a better match, but if i can't, i'm gonna teach myself how to mix green directly into the orange tube because the color match is so frickin great.

hope this helps someone else out there!

update: this mixes directly into other concealer tubes fantastically if you remove the stopper of the skin toned concealer first. the concealer will become super messy to use without the stopper though, so i recommend trying to remove it carefully and reinserting after the colors have been well-mixed if you still have a lot of product to get thru :)

Brows -NYX -Micro Brow Pencil

I took 2 lippies off because it is a bit hard and for the design. The spoolie cap and pencil cap are not the same size....ridiculous! The spoolie cap is much shorter than the cap that goes over the pencil. There is writing on the spoolie cap so you have to remember that. If it wears off you have to guess or actually lay then side by side ....the spoolie cap is shorter. Of course if you mess up..... the spoolie lid crushes your pencil and there isn't that much in these to begin with. I bought 2 and used one up about 3 weeks. But I did play around with it a lot trying to get used to it and the spoolie cap mistake probably ate up 25%. I wonder if that was done on purpose to make you have to repurchase faster.

I purchased this at Walgreens for 10.00 in the color taupe, which is a VERY nice natural looking shade for me. It does have a very fine point and the spoolie on the other end works well BUT...it is kind of hard. It really took some effort to show up but once I used it more it softened up some. It really does create natural hair like strokes and the color is 100% perfect for me. I love Brow Wiz but none of the lighter colors look as natural as this one....... the NXY taupe is perfect for me, I do like the spoolie on Brow Wiz much better BUT the spoolies break off all the time on my Brow Wiz's which is annoying(they really need to fix this issue) This is the closest to Brow Wiz that I have tried. I like Brow Wiz a little better, but it's double the price and the colors are not as good for me

The NYX is not all that cheap for a drugstore item. Around $10.00 but you can catch them on sale. Refills would also be nice. I don't understand why nobody seems to make one that can be refilled instead of having to pay for the entire pencil and spoolie again. Oh wait, they can, they just won't because they can't charge as much and sell new pencils.

Liquid -NYX -Professional Makeup Total Control Drop Foundation

on 11/14/2017 4:10:00 PM

The dropper is a great idea but can be messy when you're getting used to it. I have dry skin and this foundation does sadly cling to my dry patches and provides light to medium coverage. Because of this I cant use this foundation on its own but I like mixing it in with another foundation.

I found it quite hard to find the right color for me since the colors are all very yellow based in my opinions, which is yet another reason why I like mixing it in with other foundations.

Lipstick -NYX -Lip Lingerie

I love nude liquid lipsticks, which is why I was excited to buy these but they dry weirdly and don't last very long. They're patchy and goopy. I own the shade "Bedtime Flirt" and after only a few applications the product in the tube is dried up.

Lipstick -NYX -Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks

on 11/14/2017 3:46:00 PM

I have this in Tea & Cookies and while its a nice color this takes forever to dry and once its "matte" its still not transfer proof and comes off completely when eating or drinking. The formula is very pigmented but feels slightly sticky and smells chemically.

One plus is the applicator, which is a classic doefoot but its tilted, which for some reason works great

Lipstick -NYX -Lip Lingerie

on 11/14/2017 2:45:00 PM

NYX, you did it! Thank you for this excellent product and shade selection. Everybody will find a shade which suits them well, and if you're not into nude, get "Exotic" (a beautiful nudish exotic red). Please have a look at swatches, Google and YouTube have plenty of them. The packaging reminds me of the Kylie Jenner Liquid Lipsticks but without some features. The doe foot applicator is the only bad thing about this product. I like to apply it with another tool, this applicator puts too much product on your lips and the result will be sticky. You're best if you use your brush or fingers to blend or take away any excess. The formula feels like a slippery mousse but turns matte quite quickly (but not as fast as the Colourpop Liquid Lipsticks). It will stay on your lips for a couple of hours (without eating or drinking). Beware oily or greasy food. Always check your lips after eating. Drinking ain't a problem for this baby. The shades become darker as they dry. Either trust a good swatch or try it in stores. I truly love so many shades (even the dark ones) that I can't decide what to wear when I want to chose a color. I'd be pleased if NYX keep this product for many years as I will keep repurchasing it. The price is good, the formula is right (not too dry, not too moisturizing which is good for long lasting lipstick) and the shade is excellent for a nude liquid lipstick (24 shades!).

BB Cream -NYX -BB Beauty Balm

I'd say this is more like a medium foundation rather than a BB cream, but at the same time it doesn't look like you have foundation on at all which makes it the best of both worlds in my books. Obviously if you have major acne or undereye circles this won't be enough but it covered way more than I expected. I was also hesitant to use this as my days are very long and though I wouldn't say I'm oily makeup definitely does break down on my face. This BB cream however stays on all freaking day and doesn't even oxidize! Probably my only complaint is that it either is getting sucked up by my makeup brush or isn't very spreadable because it seems like I have to use a lot of product and the price isn't exactly dirt cheap ($15 CAD)

Eye Primer -NYX -Proof It Eyeshadow Primer

on 11/13/2017 8:14:00 PM

4.5 stars! Bang for your buck!

I don’t wear makeup as often as I used to and so long are the days of heavy makeup for a night out. My main concern now is just to make sure my eyeliner stays put during the day. I used to only swear by the Urban Decay eye Primer Potion when it was in the original long genie bottle wand packaging, but since then, I felt like the formula just wasn’t the same anymore and was on a hunt to find a new eye primer.

At around $5 for 0.23oz, this NYX primer is pretty amazing. It goes on a little sticky, but doesn’t stay sticky for long. I usually apply with the wand to my lids and eyebrows, then use my fingers to spread & blend the product around. I will also give it a little time to really dry/sink in before doing anything else on my eyes. I felt like it does its job in keeping your eye makeup in place. However, I did not test it in extreme conditions like underwater. My eye makeup did hold up in humid weather like that of Louisiana and Hawaii. My monolids sometimes gets oily and I felt like this helped combat that. I will also use this product before applying concealers to my undereye and for pesky red pimples to keep the concealers in place. With this technique and topping off with a powder to set it keeps my concealers from sliding around, which is a nice little added bonus of this primer!

For someone who only wears eye makeup on the weekends, this is a great option as I wouldn’t want to spend more than $20 now on a product that might end up expiring before I can finish it. I think this beats the Too Faced Shadow Insurance and UD Primer Potion in price + value + effectiveness. I would buy it again, but NYX keeps coming out with new/different products so I’ll have to try the other types first!
