Bath Treatments -LUSH -Lush Bath Bomb

foto

Lush bath bombs are a mixed bag for me. I really do adore Lush, I strongly support the idea of packaging free bathing materials and these are an excellent way to pamper yourself or others. There is a huge range of scents, ones with bath oils/sprinkles/pop rocks mixed in, seasonal and year long styles and everything in between. To truly experience them you really have to go in store and look at their current selection.

But, and this is a big but, of all the products Lush makes, these have a tendency to irritate me the most. I used to take baths with them regularly, and when I went to Lush I wouldn't blink at grabbing 4 or 5 at a time. But some of the irritation went beyond just bumps, redness, or itchiness, into major discomfort and even (TMI disclosure) UTI's. It took me years to figure out why I was having the issue because I never took baths on a schedule, just as a way to relax.

Now I focus more on Lush body washes or their skincare range, but I do buy an occasional bath bomb. If I shower off after it seems to mostly prevent the sensitivity issues. But I wrote a longer review so others who may have this issue can either pinpoint it or at least be warned.

Pros: Some of the best selection of bath bombs, the core values of Lush are admirable, the scents are amazing and the bathing experience is usually worth every penny. A face mask, bath bomb and a candle are my idea of peace and calm.

Cons: Expensive (there are alternatives all over these days if you want them!), the ingredients and oils used can cause irritation for sensitive skin, you can buy many of the same scents in their body wash or soap.

This is perfect for a relaxing bath - it turns the water a gorgeous purple colour and smells absolutely incredible. I have already repurchased & will do again

Skincare - Body -LUSH -Each Peach Massage Bar

I've been buying this massage bar forever, and I always keep a backup in my stash. I must admit I never use massage bars for massages, just for intense moisture before bed, especially in the Winter. I love this for my feet at night when my skin is super dry, or for my elbows, pretty much everywhere that my skin needs love. The yummy citrus smell is great, it's probably one of the first Lush products I ever bought based on scent alone.

I'm used to the messy aspect of these so it no longer bothers me, but be careful with all Lush lotions and body care if you have expensive sheets or towels. This will probably get everywhere and it will take a while to absorb on your skin. For me though, it's the best deep penetrating moisture there is short of using pure shea butter, which absorbs slower to me. If you buy any of the massage bars I recommend their tins or a container to store it in, it can go bad if you aren't careful.

I take off one star just because of the price, because while I support the core values of Lush and I'm used to their prices, this is on the high end. I justify the cost because I love the brand, but you can find much more cost effective products out there.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH -Karma soap

One of the soaps I avoided for a long time but recently smelled it again and fell in love with the scent. It is uplifting during a bleary winter day. It is a decent soap as far as cleansing goes but lathers well and isn't harsh on my skin.

Cleansers -LUSH -coal face soap

Oily-combo and acne prone skin. Used this as a second cleanser, took away that “oil” film nicely but really stripped my skin. I thought it felt nice and clean until I tried something more “gentle” (neutrogena ultra gentle daily) and my skin felt so nourished and normal. my skin wasnt so parched for moisturizers! remember, your skin shouldn’t be feeling so tight after you wash your face.

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH -Sleepy Hand and Body Lotion

Lush really, really hit the mark with this one. It smells amazing, the scent lasts, it makes my skin super soft, it helps me sleep and relax, and it's my favorite color. I would highly recommend this for anyone who has problems falling asleep or relaxing, and definitely for lavender lovers.

The scent of Sleepy is somehow sweet and spicy, yet soothing with strong lavender notes. The sweet tonka bean scent in the pot morphs on the skin into a rich, unique scent that isn't overpowering, but definitely lingers. Nothing smells artificial and it dries down into my favorite night time scent.

I often just apply on my chest and cleavage, so for me, this lasts a long time. If this was meant for every day full body use, it would be too pricey. But as a natural sleep aid and a special boost of moisture to my perma-red chest, it's well worth it. I recently got a gift set with a body wash of the same scent and my hopes are high that it will work just as well!

Cleansers -LUSH -Let the Good Times Roll

This has got to be my favorite product from Lush. I use it almost every evening in combination with a cleansing milk, and it gets every last bit of makeup off my face. I've got a problem with my pores clogging very easily, and I feel like this helps with that. It leaves my skin so soft and smells like cookie batter.

Smells of parma violets to me. This was a fail for me as my face was redder after washing it off. Plus it dried out quicker than the other ones l've tried. It does mattify skin, so if you're shiny it's good before makeup. I used it twice weekly.

Scrubs -LUSH -Ocean Salt

I bought this after a skincare consultation- I got the small 120g/2.23 oz pot for about £9.00/£12.14, which is quite pricey for me. The tub that I brought home was DIFFERENT to the tester which was very good. The purchased product is green {not pale blue} harsher, coarser, more pungent and leaves a much less silky. The tester has the same label, they're both the self preserving formula. I followed the instructions on the pot the first time- apply to freshly cleaned skin, and chose to leave it on for 5 minutes before removing. It left my skin too raw, full of red blotches and stinging (more than a homemade or other store bought rubs). The second time I used it, I mixed a little moisturiser into my skin too, but to no avail. I have very clear skin, so was very unhappy with the price and outcome.

Shampoo -LUSH -soak 'n' float shampoo bar

I have mixed feelings about this one. During the summer, I break out in eczema on my scalp. It's flaky, itchy, painful at times, and all-around gross. In order to keep my scalp clear, I have to wash my hair nightly--which soothes my scalp, but wreaks havoc on my hair. As Lush markets this shampoo bar as scalp-soothing and non-irritating, I bought it to use in between washes with T-Gel and Nizoral, which turn my hair into hay.

The positives: This is a very gentle formulation that nourished my hair and didn't irritate my scalp. While T-Gel and Nizoral leave my hair a static bomb, this shampoo bar left it soft and smooth. And the scent! I do think this bar is scented on the heavier side. However, I enjoyed the smell, which is quite distinctive. Other reviewers captured it pretty well: warm, woody, earthy, etc. My descriptor of choice: Hippie incense. A lot of stores in my downtown area sell incense sticks, so when you walk down the street, all you smell is this generic blend of incense, potpourri, and essential oils. That's what Soak and Float smells like: downtown Salem, MA. I dig it. The scent does linger in your hair, which you may or may not like. I enjoyed it, as I don't use many scented products. But the smell is noticeable, so you may want to use caution if you usually wear fragrance or anything like that.

The main con: While Soak and Float does clean your hair, it didn't keep my hair clean for long. I found I really couldn't go more than one day between washes while using this; I'd wash my hair at night, and my hair would be greasy and stringy by the next night. This wasn't too big an issue for me personally, as I was just using it to give my hair some relief in between using much harsher shampoos. But if you're thinking of using exclusively this to wash your hair, I honestly don't know how much success you'll have. I can see this leaving a lot of buildup in your hair very quickly.

Overall, I found this shampoo bar does basically what it says it does: Cleans your scalp without irritating it. The scent may or may not be a turn-off, depending on what you like. But you may end up going through it quickly, as you'll need to wash your hair frequently to keep it clean.

Shampoo -LUSH -Godiva Shampoo Bar

Went in store in search of a new shampoo since my formerly beloved Copperhead shampoo bar is now only sold online. I have bleached, red hair in a long boy cut so I needed something super moisturizing that wouldn't strip my color. This was suggested to me as it has chunks of conditioner in it and I will admit that the lather from this is far creamier than Copperhead. I was very dissapointed to find that this shampoo was super drying and made my hair hard to detangle in the shower (which I always do so that my hair dries in the style that I want). I was previously using a Paul Mitchell shampoo with silicone in it that makes my hair so soft and easy to comb through like butter so the fact that this bar is way more natural and lacks any silicone might be why I don't get that immediate softness. To stick with the trend I might try out lush's Jungle Solid Conditioner to see if that will help but as of right now I'm not impressed.

Used this a while back for my color treated hair. It gave it so much moisture and shine, although it did crumble towards the end of the bar. I had super long hair back then and this bar lasted so long. The smell was also amazing; warm and spicy. It lathered so well in my hands and was super easy to get my head frothy with shampoo. I'm so dissapointed that this shampoo bar is sold online only now as I can't justify having my shampoo come through the mail and paying shipping. Now to go in stores to look for a hopefully comparable shampoo bar for my very color treated hair.

Fragrances -LUSH -Rose Jam

foto

This review is for the Body spray.
Iove the rose jam shower gel so I thought I'd love this body spray. No. No. No.
This spray was disgusting, overpowering and very overwhelming. The initial 2 seconds was ok but after that, the scent is very strong and offensive. It leaves behind a sorta burnt smell that makes me feel sick. I wore this to work one day and felt so nauseated throughout the day. I ended up returning this. The packaging is big and bulky and the one size isn't convenient.

I very rarely write reviews. I received this as a Christmas present. I have to admit I had reviews about it already as I am an avid Makeupalley fan and struggle with sleep. I have very oily skin even though I’m 48!! So, I never use skin cream. However, I am already addicted!! The smell is just like another reviewer stated “lavender marshmallow”. I don’t like sweet scents. So, this is not too sweet. It just mellows and sweetens the lavender scent. To the point that I wish I could bathe in this. Past the incredible scent, this thick pretty lilac coloured cream absorbs so amazingly. Even into oily skin. Plumps up my skin and reminds me that oily does not mean hydrated. And, yes, is so completely relaxing. Had an amazingly relaxing evening and a great night sleep after applying this.
Since I’ve been using this, my acne on my chest, back and arms has cleared up. Has anyone else experienced this? I am now thinking about using it on my face!!
So, I have been using this in my FACE for the past two weeks. It CLEARS my skin up!! Wtf?!? I have tried so many products. So many high end moisturizers for acne prone aging skin. And this is my miracle?!? I can’t use it during the day as it is too oily. I apply it liberally at night to my face and wake up with glowing, cleared skin. It actually heals the acne that I have and evens the tone of my skin. Eliminates the redness. I am really curious to know if anyone else has used this on their face? I know it’s a courageous thing to do, but WHY is this working for me?!?
I have used LaMer, recherche biologique, drunk elephant, ole henriksen, philosophy, tacha. You name it, I’ve tried it. All the money spent, and I end up resorting to a hand and body lotion on my FACE?!? Maybe it’s the lavender? Thoughts please?!?
