Gels/Soaps -LUSH -Sea Vegetable Soap

on 8/16/2018 2:16:00 PM

I asked Lush for a soap that really lathers. They suggested this one. It does not produce lather at all. All it produces is a terrible mess as I attempted to lather up, sea grass on what looked like mud from the seabed splattered all around my bathroom. I think I might never get Lush products again as the last soap did not lather either, and I have soft water.

Conditioner -LUSH -Veganese Conditioner

on 8/15/2018 2:03:00 PM

This is my GO-TO at LUSH regarding hair conditioner. I honestly am not a fan of any of their other options (American Cream, etc). Veganese is a conditioner I can even use on my roots, and I love that. It makes my hair SO shiny and light. Only complaint-- I have to couple it with Organix conditioner on my ends. It is simply not heavy enough to keep my ends untangled or as hydrated as I'd like. I am still a believer and will continue to use, simply because my hair is significantly more bouncy and shiny with it in my regimine.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH -Snow Fairy Shower Gel

on 8/11/2018 11:32:00 PM

LUSH makes good shower gels, but this is one of their worst. First of all, I made the mistake of purchasing this product online without smelling. I read the description on their website which states the product smells like bubblegum and vanilla - two fragrances I love. However, when it arrived, I find it smelled too potent. It reminds me of a bubblegum-flavoured medication that we all took as children. A sickly, nauseating scent. Secondly, there is glitter in the shower gel but it all settles on the bottom of the bottle. I tried shaking it but it won’t budge, which is disappointing for a glitter lover who wants to bathe in it. Lastly, the packaging is so poor. The bottle and cap are cheaply-made and designed. The cap always leaked. Whenever I tried squeezing the gel out, it would start leaking from the sides. Eventually, the cap broke off. I had to pour the shower gel into a new bottle. The good thing about this product is that it is concentrated so a little goes a long way unlike the watered-down body washes from the drugstore. It isn’t drying. It works well with its body conditioner, which I also purchased. I bought the largest bottle available and after months, it’s still kicking. I will buy a LUSH shower gel again, just not this fragrance.

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH -Sleepy Hand and Body Lotion

on 8/11/2018 4:58:00 AM

This lotion is, so far, the best I've ever used. The lavender smell is soothing without being overpowering, and its moisturising properties deliver as promised. Since Lush does not add alcohol into the lotion, it is thick and also takes a bit of time in my humid homeland to be absorbed into the skin (feels a bit sticky, but not greasy). The absorption rate does not bother me, though. The major plus point of this is that it is the first product that has reduced the lines on the back of my hand. I've never had hands that are flawless and wrinkle-free, but this moisturiser has significantly reduced so many lines that I am incredibly impressed. At least I feel more confident about sticking my hand out to show off my nails and accessories now, because my hands look more youthful.

This lotion also works very well in dry-climate places (tried and tested). I'd give it as many stars as I can.

Masks -LUSH -Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask

on 8/11/2018 1:18:00 AM

This mask was fun to use as it is cold (it has to be refrigerated) and gave me a smooth matte finish after washing off. The smell is not very strong, and smelled like blueberries. My skin felt really clean and dry after the mask, which is very rare for me as I have oily skin. A major flaw for me, though, is that the mask clogs my pores and it is quite hard to wash off. I found out about the clogging when I realised there were strange streaks when I was washing my face and when I tried to squeeze out my blackheads. The gunk which came out was blue, so I knew it was this because this is the only blue product I use. The clogging is also obvious when my face gets oily. I would not recommend this for anyone with cloggy pores.

Cleansers -LUSH -Herbalism

on 8/10/2018 1:20:00 AM

I started using Herbalism 3 years ago to manage my combination sensitive skin. It has been quite effective in keeping my skin calm and reduce breakouts. However I do feel a film over my skin once in a while, and sometimes does not give the 'clean' feeling after I wash my face. Usually, ignoring it and using the toner loses that 'filmy' feeling quickly. But sometimes I just wash my face again. My skin got too dry after a while, so I used it with moisturiser.

For the past year I've been using it together with the Eau Roma Water toner, and the moisturisers Vanishing Cream (in the day) and Celestial (at night).

Masks -LUSH -Rosy Cheeks

on 8/9/2018 12:53:00 PM

This is one of LUSH's most underrated products. I've always been interested in their "Fresh Masks" but turned off that they expire quickly (approximately 3-4 weeks after purchase) and must be refrigerated. For 60g at $12.95 CAN (super cheap), I thought I might as well treat myself and I'm happy I did.

The formula is a thick, smooth, clay-like texture. It is cold because it is refrigerated, so it is SUPER refreshing to wear during the hot summer months. If you like anything rose-scented, this product is great because it smells like fresh roses - ultra relaxing to wear. I usually apply a generous layer, wait about 30 minutes and enjoy the cold sensation and floral aroma before rinsing off with cool water. This product is advertised to calm and soothe, which it does! It's a great summer product because it cools you down and soothes your skin especially if you're in the sun all day. This product doesn't advertise doing anything for acne, but I find I have fewer breakouts because the clay works to soak up excess oils that would cause pimples.

If you're looking to treat yourself, buy this. It's a cheap luxury that I think every girl should have this summer.

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH -Charity Pot

on 8/9/2018 10:46:00 AM

Charity pot is such a wonderful idea! Not only is it a great cause, but also a quick-absorbing, light hand/body lotion. The scent is nothing special, but it leaves my hands feeling silky soft every time; I can't recommend it enough.

Body Scrubs -LUSH -Buffy the Backside Slayer

on 8/5/2018 11:48:00 PM

I really need to pick up another one of these bars. I think I've gone through two of them already. BTBS exfoliates really well and takes care of KP like nobody's business. It leaves me completely hydrated and smooth. You have to buy a tin box to put it in, and you use it up quickly, but most scrubs get used up quickly anyways. Great product; highly recommend!

Cleansers -LUSH -Let the Good Times Roll Face & Body Cleanser

on 8/5/2018 11:03:00 PM

This has been collecting dust in my cabinet since 2015 so this review is more of a revisitation:

Terrible as a face scrub - although I love the honey graham cracker smell, I was left with a greasy film that gave me painful, cystic acne.

As a body scrub? Go ahead! Mixing the crumbly product with water to get a nice consistency can be a little cumbersome. I still get the sticky, greasy film though no matter where I put this on my body. Usually for dry-skinned girls like me, greasy is good. Not in this case. I'm also not sure if this really exfoliates and sloughs off dead skin because the residue is just a big no.

Shampoo -LUSH -Jason and the Argan Oil Solid Shampoo Bar

I tend to avoid Lush products (I like what they stand for in terms of environmental friendly, fair trade morals, but I dislike the pushy salespeople and "natural is better" advertising). I bought this because it's one of the only shampoos available in NZ that doesn't contain coconut, which I'm allergic to (gives me bad body acne, and is found in almost all skin and hair care products)... Well okay if we want to get technical then it contains SLS which is *sometimes* made from coconut... but it's listed as coconut-free on so I'm gonna go with that because there are seriously so few options left for me.

I believe it may have been reformulated because I haven't had any issues whatsoever with lathering or crumbling. I just wet my hair and then rub the bar on my scalp two or three times, and I get HEAPS of lather. Seriously, more so than any other shampoo I've ever used. I don't bother rubbing it between my hands or wetting the bar at all (although it catches some water when I'm standing under the shower head and rubbing it in my scalp).

The smell is strong as others have noted - I have an ensuite so my whole bathroom, bedroom, wardrobe and even the area in the hallway and stairs smells of this after. I like the smell so it's not an issue, but it makes me worried that I'm one of those jerks who has a crazy strong perfumed presence that will bug others who don't like the scent. We all know someone who insists on smelling strongly to everyone else because they think it's their "signature" and yeah I don't want to be that annoying selfish person. I haven't reeeally noticed it leaving an overly strong after scent on my hair (if anything, I smell my conditioner more) but there's a chance I'm just desensitized to it?

My hair is very fine, but I have a lot of it. It gets oily fast and looks flat and greasy if I go a day without washing it. This shampoo still gives my hair some lift and body to it even on the second day so that's awesome. My hair looks and feels very, very soft afterwards. It gives me the perfect amount of volume and softness - every other shampoo I've used in the past either gave me so much volume my hair was dry, or was too shiny and looked flat and lifeless.

Storage is a pain. You have to remember to remove it from the shower and put it somewhere to dry every single time you use it, or parts of it melt onto the shower caddy and get stuck. I haven't had any issues with it crumbling, because it's actually just so soft from absorbing all the moisture.

Even if I didn't have my coconut allergy I'd still buy this, and I don't say that lightly because I hate spending money on expensive shampoos and conditioners.

Update a month later: Alright, I have had issues with this crumbling and breaking, and that started around two or three weeks in. So far it's just annoying but not prohibitive. I do strongly suspect there's some other ingredient in this that is irritating me because I tend to get pimples on my shoulders after using this, and my hand dermatitis gets very dry and itchy as well. I haven't narrowed it down to this item yet, but I'm preeeetttttyy sure it is this. I'm leaving my score unchanged for this though, because performance wise it's still great and my allergies are my own issue and not indicative of overall quality.

Cleansers -LUSH -Kalamazoo

on 8/5/2018 2:35:00 PM

Although marketed to fluffy-bearded men, I'd say this is a great cream cleanser for all sorts of people.

What I like about this cleanser is that it doesn't lather into a foam because foamy cleansers tend to make my already dry skin into "skulls-in-the-desert" dry. For some people, this might be a turn-off because people tend to equate foaming action with cleaning. Not necessarily.
It's formulated with pineapple enzymes to gently exfoliate your skin. It's pretty gentle. No stinging at all - maybe a little brightening? And it smells PHENOMENAL.

I stole a little of this cleanser from my boyfriend and though he's not a product guy, he really likes Kalamazoo!

Moisturizers -LUSH -Cosmetic Lad

on 8/2/2018 7:20:00 PM

I have been using Cosmetic Lad since I discovered Lush in the UK back in 2000? (Right around there). I have used this off and on ever since. I use this at night. I have oily skin and live in high humidity. I love the scent and I love love love the texture. It makes my skin so soft. I feel this moisturizes overnight without clogging me up. One lippie off simply because I can’t use this during the day. But as I’ve never not had a tub of this, I most definitely recommend trying this one out. It’s one of the few HGs I have from Lush (others include Karma soap/lotion and Honey Trap lip balm).

Moisturizers -LUSH -Enzymion

on 7/31/2018 11:22:00 AM

This is a must for oily gals!!! This moisturiser literally absorbs every bit of oil without feeling tight or dry. My skin would usually be very oily and greasy looking by 10am but this product controls the oil all day, with only a little grease coming through around 8 or 9 pm. Like others have mentioned, I mainly use this as a makeup primer and will then use a thicker heavier cream as a night cream. Not sure if this has helped clear any spots or other products as I began using them together ?

The reason fro the 4 lippies is, I'm not a fan of the smell I find it to be a little over powering but once it is on the face you can't smell it. I also don't like the fact it comes in a pot, very unhygienic. A pump bottle like 'Grease Lightening' would be much better, I use a small plastic spatula instead of my fingers which is fine but can be a little annoying when travelling etc! It can be on the pricey side too, 45g for just under €20 seems a little steep to me but I will continue to repurchase until a cheaper alternative comes to market.

Overall the product itself is one of my favorites, its just sad small things such as the packaging brings the review down.
