Lipstick -MAC -Lustre in See Sheer

I got this lipstick as part of the Back2MAC recycling program as I'm striving for the 'K-beauty soft makeup look'.
I also noticed the lipstick tester had the Korean flag on it and the SA told me this shade is a huge seller in Korea, Japan and China. I can see why. I'm Asian, NC30 and it does flatter my colouring and it helps me achieve that K-beauty makeup look that's all the rage these days.
As the name states, it is sheer and I need to apply a few layers for more depth of colour. (my lips are very pigmented)
This would look lovely on pale lips for that MLBB look and it may work on darker skin tones.
The staying power isn't that great but that's the nature of the lustre lipsticks. I don't mind applying this regularly as I prefer a moist lipstick texture vs. matte and drying.
This shade will be in my permanent arsenal for an everyday look.

Water / Aqua / Eau, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caffeine, Panthenol, Arginine, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PPG-26-Buteth-26, Fragrance (Parfum), Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol.

For years people have talked about this stuff like it is the most miraculous product ever, the end all setting spray, the best on earth, one of a kind, a miracle worker….. I think it is one of the most overhyped products ever and I am sure it has made Mac very wealthy because it’s sure not cheap for glorified water. I love the way they market it to be used before makeup, after application (or both) as well as throughout the day for a little boost of hydration and a pick me up…. In other words, use a lot and buy more Mac ‘expensive glorified water’.

I’ve tried almost every setting spray made, except for some of the ones that are so insanely priced they couldn’t get me to bite like Claudia Riaz Instant Face which is around $85.00 for about 4 ounces. I find very little difference and they all have similar ingredients but I think Mac’s is one of the worst. It’s good for one thing, , to wet your brush to apply some shadows and all of the others will do the same thing. Why use a pricey product to do that? They all work for that purpose, even the cheapest ones.

I think Mac’s Prep + Prime Fix + is a poor setting spray & that's really not what it's meant to do and a poor primer, the sprayer is not great either. At least Urban Decay’s All Nighter works fairly well to set shadows and makeup. If people enjoy paying that price for something most drugstore priced sprays do equally as well, then go for it. E.L.F’s does the same thing and it’s 3.00 for 2.02 OZ. Nyx, Milani, Flower Cosmetics, all work just as well. If you don’t like their misters, get a very nice mister bottle with a fine, even spray and decant them into that. It’s not like Mac’s mister is anything to rave about.

I don’ care for really matte finishes. I mainly use a spray to take away the matte look or to set my eyeshadow or on my brush to apply some shadows on the lid. If you don’t mind paying that much money for basically water and a cheap mister, and it works or you feel it works for you, great. I can just think of a lot other items at Sephora and elsewhere that I would rather spend my money on.

I stopped buying all of the high end ones and haven’t missed purchasing them every month or two. I'm using drugstore sprays and they work just fine. I used NYX matte(GREAT mister, no scent, makeup lasted 12 hours, but it takes longer to dry) J. Cat Beauty Spray, Kokie, E.L.F., Milani ( love this one but sprayers are hit or miss), & Flower Beauty Seal the Deal(smells so good)..

My next project it to try to make my own. I have all of the ingredients I want except a couple items that I ordered, I just haven’t had time to play due to the holiday season. Liquid -MAC -Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation

This is the best foundation I’ve ever worn, and I used to be a ride-or-die Doublewear chick. This lasts SO long on my face, has amazing coverage, and I experience absolutely no separation or creasing with it, which are my two biggest pet peeves when it comes to foundation. I am in love. I live in 80+ degree weather so the fact that this foundation endures outside temperatures and my crazy oil production is crazy. I never have to touch up! I only wish we’d get more product out of it - the tube does not amount to 1.0 fl oz, which sucks because I love this foundation so much.

Good for a lot of things like taking away the powderiness, foiling e/s & as a prep spray. I made my own this morning. I’ll get to try it tomorrow! I did about 1 part glycerine to 4 parts water (boiled water) I don’t know where to get rosewater so I had to wing it. I’d keep buying fix+ but I’m ballin on a budget. It can’t be this simple can it, boiled water/glyceine? I made a small batch in case I don’t like it. I’ll come back & update.

Brows -MAC -Fluidline Brow Gelcreme

on 1/7/2018 12:38:00 AM

This is a pretty good product, its more like a 3.8 lippie product, just needs a better color selection, and seems a little greasy? The SA at Ulta recommended Deep Dark Brunette, and I should of gone with my gut.. It's way too dark, I returned it for Soft Brown from Anastasia BH. I'm a firm believer that regardless of brow color, you should always use a shade one to two shades lighter than your hair color in pomades, unless you are a very fair blonde with very light brows, then one shade darker works best, it's what is most flattering... I've been more into using brow powders lately, with brow gel, liking a more natural looking brow, but this is a good product if you can find a flattering shade.

Brows -MAC -Pro Longwear Waterproof Brow Set

This is my first time using this product , and my first impression is it's a great product. Check: there appears to be enough product for the cost of product, in other words long lasting. The coverage is natural not fake. I layer with eye brow powder and my brows look great. I get compliments on my brows and it means a lot to a 50 plus woman, well closer to 60. I was using a brow brush from another brand, but the product vanished after 6-10 for the same price. I like this product and will purchase again.

Highlighters -MAC -Prep + Prime Highlighter Pen (Radiant Rose)

on 1/5/2018 3:29:00 PM

I've used it all so it's a good sign in general but overall I hadn't receive the performance I was hoping for. Wanted the natural look with a slight pop of highlight - got pretty much nothing on my fair/ olive skin. Regarding the great reviews from other consumers I guess the color wasn't for my skin type though MAC mua advised it. Probably more fair/porcelain gals will have more luck with this product.

Eye Shadow -MAC -All Pigment Powders

on 1/5/2018 11:27:00 AM

I have Fushia. (had Old Gold but had accidentally spilled it and was unsalvageable, let alone the clean up was unforgiving *sigh*). Mac pigments have awesome colour payoff, espescially when executioning a clean foiled look. They are versatile can be used as eyeshadow, highlight for eyes, lips, bronzers/blushes and for the more complex artistry- body art. Great lasting power. Very fine pigment, picks up easily on brushes. There is fallout as would be expected w/ loose pigments. I have packed this into small compartments w/ added Studio Fix+ as a potable eyeshadow. This is a remarkably versatile product. The only downside for me is there is sooo much product that I barely put a dent in it. So I prob would not repurchase cuz they last forever, that being said I might just be inclined to pick up other colours that catch my eye hehe...

Lip Gloss -MAC -Tinted Lipglass

I don't like these for several reasons:
- they irritate my lips;
- they are sticky;
- they do not last long on me;
- the consistency, the shimmer in some shades and the color pay off in others aren't for me.

I've purchased many shades but wasn't pleased with any of them, part of that due to severe irritation/burning.

Concealers -MAC -Pro Longwear Concealer

on 1/4/2018 1:33:00 AM

Great concealer. Looks great on bare skin, for a natural radiant look. I'm having a little trouble with it over foundation, because it creases and looks cakey (NC15 or NC 20 over Bourjois Healthy Mix, in "vanilla" or Estee Lauder Double Wear in Nº 1). I think the packaging is great, because the product stays clean and avoid contamination; if you pump very carefully and light, you get the perfect amount without waste.

Lipstick -MAC -Media lipstick

I picked up this lipstick for a discount. It normally retails at $17.50. The color is a stunning deep red wine shade and has a satin texture. It has a super smooth application and lasts for a pretty long time considering that it is not a matte shade. I would absolutely repurchase this color.

Blush -MAC -Mineralize Blush in Love Joy

on 1/2/2018 6:10:00 PM

I'm N25, very neutral, and didn't think this would look that good on me, especially because Milani's Luminouso is so similar, and I don't care for it on me.. My hair is a little darker now than normal, and maybe that's why it looks nice. I love MAC's mineralize blushes and have several. This shade has warmth and sheen all in one, and I prefer to use it minus bronzer and cheek highlight, as for me it's an all in one type of product.. A little contour goes well with this blush. Definitely recommend.

Liquid -MAC -Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15

on 1/2/2018 3:45:00 PM

This is my current favourite foundation but it does have some cons. The coverage is good, it doesn't accentuate my pores as much as other foundations, and it feels comfortable on the skin. I need to powder this though, or it looks shiny. When set this looks amazing, but you definitely will need to blot and powder through the day if you're oily. It doesn't crease or break up on me and it doesnt oxidise or have flashback. I unfortunately got a shade which is a bit light for me, but I find the shade range awesome and they're realistic shades (not ridiculously orange, pink or grey). I've heard of people breaking out from this foundation but that's never been a problem for me... it's pretty much as close to perfect as I can get.
