Blush -MAC - Powder Blush in Gingerly

The perfect matte/peachy shade... It's not too brown or too orange. I love MAC and TheBalm blushes, and don't think I'm gonna waste my money branching out anymore. While I have a few Milani blushes that are pretty good, once I get out one of my MAC blushes the next day, after using a Milani, it's a noticeable difference in quality etc..sure they cost almost 3 x the price, but I'd rather have one MAC that's a 10, than 3 Milani blushes that are a 7... Definitely recommend.

Fragrances -MAC - Velvet Teddy Shadescents

on 10/6/2017 3:15:00 PM

Okay, I got a free sample of this from MAC when I ordered online, and I was excited to try it out based on the reviews I read here. Well, I received my order today and tried this out right away. I had to run to the bathroom to wash it off my wrists, it honestly smelled so offensive to me. Like a cheap, cloying, old-man cologne. I am normally a fan of almost all perfumes, but I have never smelled anything like this before. Truly not pleasing at all to the nose. Very sharp, intense, and unappealing. The sample went right in the garbage.

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle

on 10/6/2017 6:37:00 AM

foto

I'm not much of a highlighter fan, to be honest. Soft & Gentle is one of the few highlighters that doesn't seem like a bronzer on my NW15 skin and isn't too light to show up. It provides a perfect lit-from-within glow when applied.

I never considered this until I mentioned to a MAC MUA that I loved her eye makeup. She said that she was wearing Soft & Gentle as an e/s--which immediately made me interested in trying it myself. Not only does it perform well as a highlighter, but it does work well as an eyeshadow for a natural minimal e/s look.

This is shimmery but more glow-y than glittery. It is subtle, but does give that extra "something" that makes me glow--it's fine for work or date night. Love this.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Veluxe Pearl - Sumptuous Olive

on 10/6/2017 5:59:00 AM

foto

Gold shadows are a problem for me, they are either too yellow and look sickly on me, or they don’t show up and there’s just a sheer wash of shimmer. I hoped Sumptuous Olive would be a good gold for me because of the olive in it. On my light skin with olive and pink undertones, this shadow looks more like an antique gold with the ever-so-slightest hint of olive color. I have dark brown eyes, solid colored, no rays or flecks. It holds up well, but on a windy day at the beach with very high humidity the shadow did fade into the crease of my eyelid creating a void. I like the color, but I it isn’t one I would reach for very often so I decided I wouldn’t buy it again. After forcing myself to pass up my everyday favorite (Laura Mercier in African Violet) one day in favor of this to give it one last try, my husband said “wow your eyes look amazing.” So I decided I needed to keep this shadow in the regular rotation and will probably buy again, unless I find another gold I like better.

I uploaded a pic of the lipstick actually on the lips that I got online, can't believe there's not more talk about this shade, it's totally on trend now too... Fabulous color! I got this last week, and am excited to use it for Fall, it's the perfect amount of frost, and flattering on my N25 skin.

Lip Liners -MAC - velvetease lip pencil

on 10/5/2017 7:57:00 AM

This lip pencil is phenomenal - I don't think it gets the recognition it deserves!

I got this as part of a 2 for 1 offer on National Lipstick Day in the shade Anything Goes. I went there to buy Craving, a plummy shade, but this was the real winner.

First of all, I love the bright pinky red colour (a bit pinkier than the Red Necessity in the Huggable line). The lip pencil is thin enough to define the outline with precision but thick enough to go on smoothly and quickly. Coverage and pigmentation are very good. It is matte and weirdly enough, not as dry as I expected.

The best part is that it stays on for ages. There is always some colour left after lunch, although I do reapply it then. But in general it is one of the most long-wearing lipsticks I own.

It is a pity that no other shade appeals, as I would happily buy more.

Moisturizers -MAC - Mineralize Charged Water Moisture Gel Moisturizer

My skin loves this product, wish I could give this 20 lippies! This right here is exactly what I have been looking for when prepping my face for makeup... I've only had it for a few days, and used it 3 times before applying makeup, and it's just so amazing... I had a full face done at MAC, and this was used, with Fix + mist on top, then MAC water weight foundation... I have never loved MY skin as much as I have since doing this routine. I'm 47, combo skin, no acne or scars, no crazy wrinkles yet, and this didn't emphasize anything, or look too greasy or dewy, it was perfection..the makeup artist guy set my face lightly with MAC "next to nothing" pressed powder, using a brush instead of the puff, I bought that compact too and it's just amazing too... I will forever buy this as long as it's around.❤

Concealers -MAC - Pro Longwear Concealer

This literally did nothing for me. I would put it on, blend it and nothing would look different. Also, it comes in a glass bottle, which I hate because I’m afraid of dropping it.

Concealers -MAC - Select Moisturecover

on 10/4/2017 10:16:00 AM

I wanted a natural looking concealor with medium coverage for under the eyes, possible blemishes. I wanted a moisturizing concealor that wouldn’t cause crepeyness under the eyes. I tried several, but this is my favorite and I will be repurchasing when I run out.
The formula is a medium consistency, much thinner than shape tape. Maybe similar to Maybelline fit me. I use this mostly under my eyes and it’s very natural. It doesn’t cause dryness or crepey skin (pro longwear was the worst thing to ever touch my eyes!). It just looks nice and natural. It’s a medium to sheer coverage. I really don’t have dark circles. I just like a little brightness and it makes my makeup look more finished. If you have dark circles, this is not for you.
Shades. This is not a concealor in which you can get a reverse raccoon shade. I made them try four different shades on me. They kept putting me in really yellow shades. It was irritating. I ended up with NW15 and it’s the darkest concealer I own. NW10 was just a weird shade that didn’t seem to fit the line. But, the shade I got works just fine.
Packaging. I love the doe foot wand for under the eyes. Nice and user friendly and I don’t intend to have this long enough to get gross as I use it almost every day.
Price. Totally reasonable, especially now that MAC does 25% off on occasion.
My previous HG was NARS radiant creamy concealer. This one is thinner, lighter coverage, and more moisturizing/less drying. I still love the NARS but I’ve been going with lighter foundations and it was too much coverage to go with those. And it was just a little drying. Currently for my needs, this MAC one is perfect. I currently use my shape tape on blemishes and on full coverage days under my eyes. Otherwise, I use this every day.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Waterweight Foundation SPF30

Loving this! I'm 47, combo skin, and just really HATE foundation, I just really do. I don't have acne or acne scars, and have always used high end powder foundations like Lancome or Bobbi Brown, or BB creams/ tinted moisturizers from Boots No7, TheBalm, Pixi etc, and while I still like those, I am always trying to find an actual foundation(for better longevity/wear time) that I don't hate, and toss out after 2 weeks lol.. I had this applied on me last week at the new MAC counter, at my local Ulta and I fell in love! The SA applied it with the OMG Airbrush Foundation brush from IT Cosmetics, and it looked so amazing I bought the brush too(brush is $25 @Ulta) ... It just is an amazing foundation that's so light weight, has a light/medium satin finish, and just glides over the skin like silk... It's $35, and well worth it!

Lipstick -MAC - Velvet Teddy

on 10/2/2017 9:29:00 PM

foto

I bought this color because I saw it on a woman on the MAC website. It looked gorgeous on her, but on me it's not even there. It takes a few good swipes to get the lipstick to glide on the lips- it's not creamy at all. I also had to do many swipes to get it to show up. If you have a medium, warm, and/or darker skintone, I would not recommend this. Maybe in the center of the lips, with a darker color or not, for an ombre effect. The only reason I'm giving 2 lippies is because it was my first MAC lipstick, I didn't test out longevity and I got it during Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty Sale (glad I didn't buy it at full price). Other than that, ISSA NO.

Lipstick -MAC - Russian Red

foto

I'm not much of a red lipstick person but this was a Ulta beauty steal, and if I was going to get a high end lipstick this had to be it. It's a very neutral leaning red, with the classic feel. It's one of the safer red's for those who adore the nude lipstick. I would say it reminds me of the classy reds they use to wear back in the 50's. The formula stays put so it's wise to take your time putting this on or grab your lip brush. For me this formula did not travel on my lip line, and last a pretty long time. I probably won't repurchase because I may only reach for it on occasion.

Lipstick -MAC - Velvet Teddy

foto

For years I've dreamed of the moment I would experience having a MAC product and I took the opportunity to buy this at one of Ulta's beauty steals for only $8. My overall verdict was that it's just really nice. Velvet Teddy is the perfect nude that flatters most. The matte formula I own is not drying and is very comfortable on the lips. However it doesn't last long, I have a few dupes in the Makeup Revolution Renaissance lipsticks in texture/color/taste/lasting power. I think the normal price is pricey for what it is, but again I got this on sale. I don't regret my purchase, but I think I have many comparable nude dupes.

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Blush - Warm Soul

This was recommended to me by the girl at Ulta..I thought there's no way this would look good on my mature skin, as it seemed so shiny and frosty in the pan, and I find that even though I'm Spanish and Italian, my skin tone is neutral, and I find that mauvy shades flatter me more..but this shade/formula is fabulous! Adds such a warmth and gorgeous sheen to my neutral nw25 skin...I was a MAC maniac in the late 90's/early 2000's, but ventured off into other brands, so glad I have started buying things from them again, have not been disappointed with any of the 10+ products I've bought recently.
