Liquid -L'Oreal - Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation

on 10/9/2017 2:39:00 AM

Hat off for this foundation, I'm in a journey to search for a foundation stay matte for 5hr at least, some how I bump on this product and I notice I reach for it in my everyday make up more than the high-end bottles I have ( I have about a dozen bottle in my draw), light to medium coverage, blend well with a damp beauty blender, stay matte for 5h w/o touch up with powder, good price tag. I already placed order for a back up tube.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Privee collection - Julianne's nude

The rosiest nude of the Privee collection. I saw different swatches online, and some of them looked pink so I was hoping this would have pink in it. But it's just really rosy. If you're a redhead it will look nice but it's not a nude, and doesn't look natural against my brunette hair and pale skin. Nothing special about this one, and overpriced for a drugstore lippie.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Excellence Dark Ash Brown

on 10/8/2017 3:37:00 AM

It's fall, and my summery caramel highlights have become brassy as of late and feel uninspired. Time for a change! I settle on L'Oréal Excellence in Dark Ash Brown 4A.

The promise of dark, cool brown hair sounds like just the ticket. I've used this shade in the past with good results on virgin hair, although it always comes out much darker than the box initially.

L'Oréal covers grays and, after multiple washes, it turns a lovely, cool, super dark ash brown.

A few words of caution. First, it looks jet black immediately after dyeing. Gasp! It takes a couple of weeks to settle into a nice dark brown and lose the jet black look. I recommend dyeing at least two weeks before any special events. Even then, the result may be darker than the box - like the darkest possible shade of brown.

That said, there are options to dial down the initial jet black look immediately if you can't wait. I'll detail these at the end of this review.

Second, the color bleeds after the initial rinsing and can stain fabric. I rinsed for 20 minutes, but unfortunately my wet hair stained my pillowcase anyway. After realizing the color was still bleeding, I washed again, with shampoo this time, three times in a row.

I wouldn't worry about washing out too much dye because my hair was still jet black after three shampoos. (Not what I wanted, but it's a good sign for those of you seeking gray coverage. It really stays put!) Like I said, it really takes quite a few washes to turn the perfect dark brown.

Once it settles into itself, it is truly gorgeous brown. It just takes a bit of time to get there!

As promised, here are some techniques I used to lessen the initial jet black look immediately:

1. The most effective method I tried was mixing one part vitamin C* with two parts shampoo, and applying the mixture to slightly dampened hair. Wear a shower cap and set a timer for two hours. Once rinsed, your hair will be one shade lighter. Enjoy your new dark brown hair!
(See before and after above.)
*Note: I had vitamin C oil on hand (specifically, some old Timeless Vitamin C serum that had oxidized. Glad that bottle didn't go to waste!)
The next day, I repeated the process, this time by crushing up some generic vitamin C tablets. I placed 15 vitamins in a ziploc bag and gently crushed the pills using a hammer. It was easy, and took only about three minutes or so.

2. The vitamin C method above was by far the most effective. The second-best option is to leave shampoo in your hair for an hour or two. Head and Shoulders, Pantene or any basic, strong drugstore shampoo will work. Simply apply shampoo to damp hair, cover with a shower cap, set a timer for two hours and then rinse well. Doing so will make your hair about one-half shade lighter. It's not a major difference, but it will look more like a brownish/almost-black shade instead of jet black.

3. The last option, if you're not in a hurry, is to just wash daily with any basic, strong drugstore shampoo like Head and Shoulders or Pantene. After a couple of weeks, you'll notice the color go from black to gorgeous dark brown.

I like L'Oréal Excellence, but next time I may choose a lighter shade so I don't have hide out for a day and "correct" the color at home.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

on 10/8/2017 1:27:00 AM

This is an amazing mascara... after about a week of use. It thickens beautifully and is better than too faced better than sex because it doesn’t leave little specks of mascara on my cheeks. I love this and even by itself, no mascara cocktail as I tend to do. It is official that you do not have to spend in order to have pretty lashes. This volumizes and lengthens. I paid $9.95 for it at Walgreens when it first came out. Will continue to purchase.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Voluminous Liner Noir

on 10/7/2017 8:11:00 PM

I've been trying to find a good sharp tip liner and this is it! It stays on well and doesn't rub off easily. Its very black and the tip is amazing for getting a thin line. Its just the right density so you can really draw with it instead of it just dragging. Doesn't smell to strong and the packaging is easy to hold and looks cute too.

Foundations -L'Oreal - Infallible Total Coverage

on 10/7/2017 4:52:00 PM

I actually like this foundation. It works well with my severely dry skin. I found the coverage to be medium-full and it is not build-able. More than one layer and it cakes up. It lasts the whole day on me. One lippie off because the medium shades all pull pink on my yellow undertone skin, so I wouldnt repurchase this again.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

on 10/7/2017 12:02:00 PM

I've been using this for one week, and have to say, it's decent for the price. I bought the black/brown, and the first thing I noticed is that a fresh tube is slightly dry, not wet like most new mascara can be. I see this as a pro, because I feel mascara works better after it dries out a little.

I have long, fine lashes, with natural curl, so not sure if it improves length or curl on shorter ones? 3-4 thin coats does the job. I'll dust a little translucent powder on my lashes after the first coat, but I didn't do that with this one, because I wanted to see if it lived up to its claims. ( It doesn't, but what does??) Goes on nicely, very little clumping, lasts all day and washes off easily with cleanser and water. I didn't notice any smudging or flaking. I wish the brush were a little smaller, or tapered at the end, but really, it works fine. I love UD's Perversion and Benefit's They're Real, but I like to switch up mascaras. I would definitely buy this again. For a drugstore product at roughly $9 USD, it's a good mascara.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Telescopic Mascara

on 10/7/2017 4:08:00 AM

Very average in performing: gives length, no volume, separation is not good enough. Gets clumpy throughout the day. And then the removing of this mascara: gave me a hard time - was hurting my eyes.

Tinted Moisturizer -L'Oreal - Age Perfect Pro-Calcium Radiance Perfector Sheer Tint Moisturizer SPF 12

on 10/6/2017 8:49:00 PM

I absolutely LOVE this product and have used it for years and years. L'Oreal appears to have discontinued the product and I can't imagine why. I get compliments every single time I use it. It adds a radiance/glow to my cheeks, outer brow, etc. A truly 'healthy' glow. Please tell me where I can order more.
I am now nearly 65!
Thank you.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Primer

on 10/6/2017 3:52:00 PM

I'm so glad I finally went and purchased this product. I'd been eyeing it for a while but was wary since none of the beauty gurus I follow were particularly keen on it.
I decided to buy it after trying out the electric blue Voluminous; the blue is gorgeous but doesn't show up on my black lashes, so I figured a white primer would do the trick to make the colour stand out. I was right, but I also started using the primer underneath my Lash Paradise and my Big Shot from Maybelline. It really does amplify the volume of my lashes and elongates the staying power of my usual mascara. I know there are some really pricey versions of lash primers available at the high end counters, but to be honest, I doubt I'll be trying them because my lashes look pretty amazing as they are with L'Oreal.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

Very good stuff. I never use waterproof, I just can't deal with the removal and want to keep my lashes TYVM, so a few tiny smudges are fine with me. Great color, length, fullness. Wand is perfect. My only problem is that it started to dry out fairly quickly. Like after a month. I had to use the old saline drops trick to get it non clumpy again. We'll see how long this tube lasts. I know you are supposed to throw them out after 3 months but lets be real, does anybody do that?

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Color Riche in Cinnamon Toast

on 10/6/2017 10:34:00 AM

I have this personal quest to find that perfect red-brown lipstick. A warm red that's not too bright, tempered by a medium brown presence. So that's what my goal was when buying this lipstick.

First of all, it is a brown-red, or as some others here described it, a brown with hints of coral, or a rusty brown. I'd say those descriptions all fit. Personally I wish it was just a tiny bit more red, but overall this is a good lipstick. To get that dream red-brown, I tend to apply this and just add a tiniest bit of L'Oréal's Mad for Matte (the Le Matte line) and blend. (Can you tell I'm obsessed with lipstick?) Or I apply the Cinnamon Toast and blot it down and then my lips get a natural wash of color. Fully applied, it's nice, too. It's a lovely fall color, and it's a bit different from my collection of mostly pink-nude lipsticks.

There's a slight scent with this, but not super strong. It's creamy and comfortable. It doesn't really migrate or bleed for me. Is it super long lasting? Not quite, because it's a crème formula, but it's good.

The packaging is the same that L'Oréal has had for a long time for this particular line. It's nice, but once it gets a bit scratched from being in a purse or makeup bag, it looks cheapened. But the contents are still good, which is what counts. I happened to get it on sale at Kroger for something like $6 so it's a good purchase for that price especially.

Styling Products -L'Oreal - Professional Tecni.Art Next Day Hair

The reason I bought this is my wish to have french-model-off-duty hair. I love a good bed head hair, which has a laid back and easy vibe.

Kind of hard to archieve when you have fine but many hair that tends to lie flat because of oily roots. Sounds funny, but I struggle with styling because my hair is too soft and healthy to hold any style. I had it cut to collarbone-lenght and sliced at the ends to get a tousled look, but there´s no chance for me to get that look without styling products.

I tried bumble and Bumble´s Dryspun Finish, which was sorely disappointing and way too expensive.

I stumbled upon this product as I searched through Anh Co Tran´s Instagram. If you know his style, you know he does the so-called "lived in hair" with a lot of slicing and pointed cuts plus tousled hair.

I was curious, which products he used to style his cuts and turns out, he uses Next Day Hair. Honestly, I never used a L´Oreal Hairstyling product before and the brand never crossed my mind as a good brand for hairstyling product.

Boy, was I wrong. I bought a can of this magical stuff on Amazon for 17 Euros and found THE product for my fine limp hair. I´ve gone through several can of this already and I never used a hairstyling product like that.

The spray is a mixture of texturizing spray with a hint of dry shampoo. L´Oreal describes it as texturizing micropowder.

Now, as someone who hates dry shampoo, I can say that this is the best of both worlds. It gives my hair incredible texture, a matte finish and a decent amount of volume. It´s not a styling product that gives you tons of volume, but for me, it provides enough volume to make my hair look good.

I can spray this very liberally on my hair and never have to worry about my hair getting weighed down or being sticky. Some hairstyling products can be a little tricky and you have to watch, how much of the product you use, but this is a no-brainer for me. It also doesn´t smell nasty, overwhelming or too chemical as some products do.

I use this only on dry hair, never on wet hair.

I sometimes pair it with Bumble and Bumble Texture, which is also my HG hairstyling product. I first spray the Next Day Hair all over my hair and then add a tiny bit of Texture to my ends or the roots. In comparison, the B&B Texture Undressing Cream can be used on wet hair too and provides more grip and hold for the hair as the Next Day Hair spray. Texture is a texturizing cream while Next Day Hair is a micropowder spray, so the compliment each other and can be used separately or together. You might prep your hair with Texture on wet hair and after blowdrying your hair, you can give it a nice finish with Next Day Hair.

It really brings out the texture of my sliced and pointed haircut and as a bonus, it prevents my oily hair from getting too flat. If I use this, I can braid my hair the next day although I usually have to wash my hair every day.

The good thing is that you can re-activate the product throughout the day by tousling your hair with your hands. Ther hair just holds the texture and is not soft and lifeless.

When you do hairstyles like braids, updos etc, this does a good job in providing enough grip in my hair to make the hairstyles work.

I also appreciate that I can run my hands through my hair when I wear it open and not have sticky and stiff hair. It does add texture and hold, but without making your hair feeling bad.

My hair looks definitely better with this as a styling product and I get my Alexa-Chung-tousled-french-hair look with beachy hair vibes.

I would definitely recommend this to people with oily, soft, fine hair. I don´t know how people with dry, wavy or thick hair might feel about this, but on my hair this does an awesome job in giving me a glamourous undone look.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Primer

on 10/6/2017 3:09:00 AM

This works beautifully for me! I've used other lash primers (received in subscription boxes) but this one works just as well for a bargain price. I typically use UD Perversion, Julep Length Matters or Tartist Lash Paint, and the primer is fattening! Actually, even basic old Voluminous is improved by this. Enough said, it's budget comfy, and worth a try.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

Bottom line, this mascara is wonderful. It adds so much length to my lashes without much fuss at all. I've for sure had other mascaras that added similar length, but they've required a lot more building than the Lash Paradise. So I'm in, I'm committed. My only complaint is the PRICE. I mean, 19.00 CAD at Shoppers?? That's INSANE. My advice is to grab it at all Walmart on a rollback day- you can get it for as low as 9.00 if you're lucky. Otherwise, I'd say, yes, this is wonderful, but there are other comparable drugstore mascaras that run for closer to 12 or 13.

Actually, I do have a final complaint. I find that by the end of the day, this mascara does smudge under my eyes. I'm always hesitant to buy waterproof, because I don't want to be scrubbing at my already sparse lashes, but normally I do just fine with a non-waterproof formula. This is one of the only mascaras I've had that has smudged this way without previous crying or eye-rubbing. I'm sure the waterproof formula completely negates it, but for all my sparse lashed friends, just maybe check in a mirror to ensure there's no smudging. Otherwise, a very nice product.
