Primer/ Corrector -E.L.F. -Cosmetics Prep & Hydrate Balm

I. Love. This. Having dry skin, I am constantly on the hunt for hydrating primers and this does balm does not disappoint. I fly quite a bit and I love that this primer is TSA friendly since it's a solid so I can bring it along in my carry on. It's also super easy and quick to apply. I just swipe it all over my face in the morning, no fuss. It's super light and sinks in quickly with no balmy residue so I don't need to go over it again with my hands and it doesn't tug on my skin at all when applying. There's a light scent (which, I could do without but it doesn't bother me or irritate my skin at all) and there's a slightly cooling effect when applied. It feels nice. The thing that makes this so awesome is that despite all it's very lightweight properties, it hydrates and preps my skin really well for makeup. I still use a moisturizer under this because I have dry skin (and live through Canadian winters). I don't think this would be enough hydration as your only moisturizer for most people and definitely not if you have normal/dry skin.

I believe it's only available online so I've already purchased many backups of this (probably too many but right now elf is having a 50% off sale so these are literally $4.. whhhaaat). I reach for this over a lot of my other higher end primers just because of the ease factor.

If this is sold out, their Workout Ready Hydration Stick looks like it has the exact same ingredients so I'd imagine it's VERY similar if not exactly the same and just repackaged. This one was sold out for a long time but it's been back for a bit now I think. For a while now I've only been using high end makeup (not sure.. why or how that happened) but I've recently rediscovered the beauties of the drugstore world and I'm loving it.

Bronzers -E.L.F. -Studio Warm Bronzer

foto

I love E.L.F. in general, for the affordability factor. This Studio Warm Bronzer, is one of my favorite bronzers, and I find it contains the perfect amount of shimmer for all the seasons, and it stays on throughout the day. If I take my angled brush and move it diagonally from the darker brown to the lighter brown - I can use it as a subtle contour. And if I take my angled brush and move it diagonally from the yellow to the soft pink - I can use it as a highlighter. I usually use this diagonal method for the Fall/Winter seasons, and glide my brush through the whole palette in the Summer for more of that summer "glow". I haven't noticed a smell to this product, and the color is just enough color--not too intense in that way of a dark streak you have to work at to blend out like some other bronzers are.

Mascara -E.L.F. -Studio Mineral Infused Mascara

If I could give this a 3.5 I would. It's a good mascara, but not anything special in my opinion. I do think this is a great option if you don't want to spend a ton on a mascara though, it separates the lashes nicely and makes them look a bit longer. It doesn't add too much volume which is a minus for me (but that's mostly a personal preference). It can take some time to remove if you're using an eye makeup remover but an oil clenaser gets it off easily.

Blush -E.L.F. -Fuchsia Fusion

foto

My favorite go-to blush. Perfect amount of pigment. I had to experiment with it when I got it for the first time and found that swirling your brush in an applying directly to the face is just way too much color. So now, I literally tap my brush in the palette, shake off the excess and apply for a light shimmery pop of pink. People always ask me what blush I use, the color is there, and it doesn't fade throughout the day. It works nice on bare skin too - if you are going more natural one day without foundation and just concealing some spots. I wouldn't buy any other blush, and the price is affordable.

Eye Primer -E.L.F. -Essential Shadow Lock and Eyelid Primer

This product is amazing for the price. I have oily skin, so I apply a pretty thick layer of this on my eyelids before eye shadow and eyeliner. Since I have pretty fair skin, I use the shade Sheer, and it doubles as a concealer for my eyelids. They have a couple other shades for people of different skin tones, and they also have a white shade called Pearl which I'm assuming is supposed to appear translucent.

The only downside: they definitely skimp on the amount of product they give you. But it's literally $2.00, so it feels silly to complain about that.

Highlighters -E.L.F. -Holographic Highlighting Duo

I bought the green/blueish duo (Blue Lagoon). The blue is a purple/blue/pink shift, and the green has a minty/tealish reflect. Very pretty and unique colors.

Pros: This is not glittery or chunky at all, very smooth and blendable. The packaging is very sturdy and has a good quality mirror, and some nice holographic letters (although these fade quickly). I don't mind the price increase from their baked highlighters because the packaging is light years better.

Cons: It's a smooth highlight, but it's very subtle. You have to pack on quite a bit to get an intense glow (and even then it's still very subtle, not a metallic intense highlight at all) and by then it looks a bit ashy on my medium/tan skin tone. I don't mind too much, but some might. On the first few layers it's truly reflective and glossy, not visible from the front but only when the light hits the are where you've applied the highlight. Stunning. It's only upon building and building that it starts to look overly noticeable and stripe-ish.

Overall: Not exactly what I hoped it would be, but it's perfect for someone who's looking for a colorful but subtle highlight. I will keep reaching for it.

I have three of these things, no lie. As a freelance makeup artist, these brushes are a lifesaver! They are amazing to blend in foundations/concealers/powders/ or just to buff any harsh lines out of the way!

Contour -E.L.F. -Contour Palette

This is a nice intro level contouring product for fair beginners. None of the powders are super pigmented (a good thing for beginners - you can easily build them) and are soft and blendable.

The white highlighting shade is the weak link here, it's difficult to build and it just generally looks powdery when you try. Sadly, it will emphasize pores and texture while not looking pretty as a highlighter.

The peachy nude shade works fine to set eyeshadow primer, I tend to set my concealer with a silica type powder.

The warm brown makes a nice bronzer and the cooler brown does a fine job of subtle contouring that is hard to mess up. Blends easily and doesn't look crazy.

Now, I won't repurchase because contouring and bronzing don't look good on me (high-contrast, clear coloring-Bright Winter), but I am keeping the three colored shades and using them as eyeshadow. Takes a bit of building since they aren't super rich in pigment, but makes a fine matte base for a neutral eye. Nude shade all over lid, warm brown transition, cooler brown crease/outer v.

Packaging is quite solid and the squares apparently pop out and are interchangeable woth ELF's other square complexion quads (don't own them).

Very soft and good quality for Elf. I use this to buff in powder, liquid and cream foundation as well as for bronzer. I wish the handle was a bit longer and the brush head a little bit bigger but it's still a good brush and I would definitely recommend it. For $6USD/7.89CAD you can't really go wrong.

Contour -E.L.F. -Cream Contour Palette

I picked this up during a promotion at CVS. There is only one shade/palette, which I didn’t realize until I actually looked it up later on the website. In the store I was trying to find a shade name on the box.
The top right and bottom left colors I thought I could use as concealer but they look extremely gray on my deep skin tone, “casket ready” as they say! The highlight is fine and I sometimes mix it with my NYX Dark Circle Concealer for my under eyes.

The deepest contour can work for me but honestly I think the only reason it is visible is because I have a warm/golden undertone so there is contrast. I have to build it up for it to be visible then I set and blend with the contour powder from my Sleek kit. For my nose and cheeks I can get a nice subtle contour that will not take away from the rest of my makeup look.

I wouldn’t recommend for other women of color just because the tones do not have enough depth. I will use up the highlight and deepest shade, the other two are useless. I wouldn’t purchase again.

Eyeliner -E.L.F. -Studio Precision Liquid Eyeliner

foto

This gets a hard pass from me. I messed up my timing and my KVD tattoo liner ran out while I already had a replacement coming in the mail so I just needed something to tide me over. The tester swatched really black and consistent on my hand, but when I actually used it on my eyes it was so patchy because of how liquid it is and when it dried it looked so cracked and the colour had turned grey. This was within 15 minutes. I threw it out right away and I can't even be mad about it since it was only $3

Brows -E.L.F. -Instant Lift Brow Pencil

Wow! For $3 at Bed Bath and Beyond and then deducting 20 percent coupon, this has become my favorite brow product. I bought in taupe and it's a perfect color with no red! Easy to fill in lightly at beginning of brow and fill in a little darker from middle to tail. I have been using the Loreal and Revlon pencils in blonde, along with my remaining YBF universal taupe and this is as good if not better than any others. Great product.

Bronzers -E.L.F. -Bronzer Palette

I have the Bronze Beauty palette which is perfect for my pale dead looking skin tone. I bought this on a whim and it totally surprised me! It doesn't have a lot of colour payoff which is actually why I like it so much. Since I'm so pale every shade will noticeably show on me, but it never looks unnatural and I'm able to use it a ton of different ways as either a bronze blush/contour, I can use my powder brush and mix all the shades and apply all over my face and I never have to worry about it looking too intense or obviously fake, and I always use it on my neck to blend my foundation in. I suit neutral to cool tones and I don't find this pulls orange at all. Totally worth the $8 CAD. I use this pretty much everyday for months and I have yet to hit pan so this lasts a long time too

This is a great little brush. I use it to put a finishing powder over foundation. It is extremely soft and very easy to handle with the short stem. It feels so fluffy and soothing on my face when I use it. I would definitely replace it when it wears out. Overall I have been very pleased with Elf products and would add this brush to the top of the list of products I've tried. Also the price is very reasonable........Who says you have to spend a fortune to get a good product?

Primer/ Corrector -E.L.F. -Lock On Foundation Glue Face Primer

This is amazing! I bought this product after Kathleen Fuentes recommended this on her YouTube channel and it doesn't disappoint. The primer goes on super sticky but don't be scared. After about a minute it soaks into your skin and isn't as sticky. However, your foundation will look flawless all day long. Great value.

Also, the packaging is a pump which I always appreciate.
