Palettes -Anastasia Of Beverly Hills -Subculture

on 3/21/2018 2:51:00 AM

I was intrigued by the color scheme of the palette, so I bought it but ended up returning it. I hated the shade cube because it was so dry and had no pigment along with the electric green shade. The metallic gold was ok but didn’t pick up well on a brush and I had to pack it on with my fingers, which may be fine for some people but a palette this expensive should have shadows that apply well both ways. The mattes were very pigmented, but quite difficult for me to blend.

Primer/ Corrector -Yves Saint Laurent -Touche Eclat Blur Primer

This primer is... just okay. If you have dry, textured skin with large pores you will probably like this. If you're oily, I imagine you'd hate it.

- decent blurring effect
- smooths textured skin
- feels slightly moisturizing (in more of a locking-in-existing-moisture way; definitely moisturize before applying if you are dry)
- scented but in a nice way, not too overpowering
- feels fancy and bougie! Makeup is all about the experience, right?!

- VERY silicone-y, slippery primer. A little goes a very long way (which I guess is a pro!), but I would only recommend to dry gals
- has literal gold sparkles/flecks, which don't dissolve or melt away. You will legit have sparkles on your face. However, since you only need a tiny amount, they are thankfully minimal, but they're still there.
- not good for oily skin, I imagine. I have dry skin and this gives me an 'almost' oily feel
- expensive ($57 CAD)

Overall, it's alright. Not for everyone, and definitely on the pricey side. I'll use up what I have but I probably won't buy it again.

Cleansers -Clinique -Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

This product is my holy grail for removing waterproof or stubborn makeup. Seriously. I've never found another product that melts away waterproof mascara and eyeliner like this one.

I don't love the jar packaging, but given the almost-solid consistency at room temperature, I suppose there isn't really another way. I like someone else's suggestion of a stick format, but it's probably not solid enough for that.

I scoop a tiny bit of this with a clean finger and apply it directly to my eyelid or lashes and rub (very gently!). Then I soak a cotton pad with micellar water and gently wipe everything away. Magic! It doesn't burn or sting, even though I've definitely gotten some in my eye before.

It also lasts FOREVER. I got a deluxe sample from Sephora (15ml) 10 months ago and I'm only 3/4 through it. Granted, I only use it for the eye area, but I do use it every single day. I might start using this for the full face as part of a double cleanse since it's so good!

Cleansers -Garnier -Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing water

I bought this because I was running out of my Clinique Take the Day Off cleansing balm and wanted a simpler way to take off my waterproof eye makeup.

At first it seemed great! It does take off foundation and removed my eye makeup pretty well, not every last bit but it seemed to get most of it off on the first cotton pad. It has a bit of a scent, not sure if it's perfume or just the oil, but I didn't mind it.

Then I started noticing stinging when excess product got in my eyes. I got redness and dryness on my eyelids, and also started feeling an oily residue on my skin hours after use. I definitely do not agree with their claim of 'no rinsing required', I would use a face cleanser after this for sure. On top of all that, the skin on my forehead and cheeks became more rough and textured within a week of using this product.

TLDR: Two lippies because it does take off makeup reasonably well, but it feels oily afterwards, seemed to break me out, and isn't friendly to sensitive skin. I normally use the 'dry and sensitive skin' Garnier micellar water (pink cap) for my non-waterproof makeup and I'll probably stick to that.

Lotions/ Creams -Jergens -Wet Skin moisturizer - all types

on 3/21/2018 1:49:00 AM

Had a coupon. My first experience with this type of product ( in shower lotion).
Bought to use at gym so I don't have to moisturize outside of the shower.
I love Jergens products. Not this.
The slickness comes from the glycerin in the product. I did not feel my skin any better after using.
It reminds me of suntan lotion's feel and it smells like it too.
I'm using it up because I don't like throwing away money
I will be looking for another in shower product for the gym

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand -Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser

I found Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleaner at Wal-Mart a few days ago. They didn't carry my Say Yes to Carrots Cream Cleanser so I decided to give Nourish a try. I was nervous at first especially seeing that Coconut Oil is one of the first ingredients and that makes me break out. However, I thought that it should be alright because I'm using it to wash my face, not as a moisturizer.
First off, I think this cleanser should be in a pump. It's far too runny to be in a tube like this. So if you decide to try it, be careful getting it out of the tube because it comes out really fast. Second, this feels great when I'm washing my face. The texture is fantastic. However, when I wash it off, my skin is really dry. Even when I follow this product up with Acure Seriously glowing serum (my usual moisturizer). I find this surprising considering that I have oily skin. Maybe it will just take some getting used to but..I much, much prefer Say Yes to Carrots cream cleanser. Lastly, on the upside, this product hasn't broken me out. In fact, my jawline was hit with hormonal acne over the last week and I think this cleanser is actually helping. In short, I probably won't be buying this product again. I like the ingredient list but my skin gets uncomfortably dry from this. I even have to put lotion on my hands after washing my face because they get so dry! Wanted to love this. I'll keep using it for a few more weeks and see if my skin gets used to it. Will update :)

Lipstick -Givenchy -Rouge Interdit Vinyl Color Enhancing Lipstick in 16 Noir Revelateur

on 3/21/2018 1:17:00 AM

Go splurge and treat yourself to this amazing lipstick that can enhance the color of other lipstick (or so I've heard!) I haven't actually applied it over domen but more importantly makes my lips look so nice ALL BY ITSELF-- even on no makeup days. I. Am. In. Love. I should just splurge and get myself another tube so that I'm not constantly hunting down the one that I have. Anyhow -- I highly recommend this lipstick and think that you should give it a go, as well.

Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier -Caviar Stick Eye Colour (all colors)

on 3/21/2018 12:06:00 AM

Since purchasing this a few weeks ago in Rose Gold, I have hardly reached for my tons of other palettes or eye products.. Sure, I've been doing a pretty basic "one and done " look with it (with lots of mascara, and using it on the mobile lid and on the lower lash line) but it's so flattering! Now that I know that I really love the formula, I will definitely be purchasing a back up of this shade, and pick up a few other colors! Definitely recommend.

BB Cream -Burt's Bees -BB Cream in Light

on 3/20/2018 11:02:00 PM

Most of my body is pretty fair and neutral toned, but for some reason my face is dark and orange. This product is uniquely perfect for me because it's very fair and it has a slight greenish-grey tint to it, so it neutralizes the hyper pigmentation in my face. It gives nice light coverage and doesn't seem to cause breakouts. I use it everyday.

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild -MegaLast Lip Color

on 3/20/2018 11:00:00 PM

I absolutely adore the color Peach Blossom and wish this lipstick had more quality to it. The only plus point is that the color is beautiful but the product itself is pretty awful. First off, the way the packaging is designed with the lipstick not fully enclosed in the tube gets smudges all over the cover when you close and re-open it. Formula wise its extremely drying on the lips, even if i had primed my lips with lipbalm it doesnt work. It looks decent from afar for 10 mins before the formula accentuates every line or crack on your lips and makes it 2 times worse. Disappointing formula overall.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand -Nizoral AD Shampoo

on 3/20/2018 10:59:00 PM

I believe this shampoo is quite expensive here where I live so I had it bought from the US. Back to my review, this shampoo does work and slowly my dandruff problems are starting to get rid off. Lesser chances of itching scalp at first BUT the dandruff is more visible now. Plus it doesn't bubble, maybe bec I am used to shampoo with bubbles forming later on. I guess I can live with that. This is the only anti dandruff shampoo that's working for my itchy scalp. Definitely going to purchase again.

Fragrances -LUSH -Rose Jam

Sadly, when I smelled the body spray of this variant, it reminded me a lot of a clean bathroom smell and not a body spray at all. Like it was just a bathroom cleaner smell. Would not be purchasing this again. I felt like it was a waste of money.

Contour -E.L.F. -Contour Palette

on 3/20/2018 10:47:00 PM

This is my go-to pallete. I use it for my face and eyes. The colors always look natural no matter what I want to add to it and it's very versatile. When it comes to my basic, daily makeup, I just put on my bb cream, put this on over it and I'm ready to go. I even use the dark brown for my eye brows.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand -KraveBeauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser

on 3/20/2018 10:44:00 PM

I was really excited to order this since I love Liah Yoo's Youtube videos, and she started this line. It's also fragrance-free and full of skin-loving ingredients, but my skin is unfortunately too sensitive to use this. It dried me out too much after one use and caused some dehydration that lasted the rest of the day. This caused my skin to be a bit rough.

This is ph-balanced for skin between 5.0-6.0, so I don't blame the product. I think it's really just my skin type. If your barrier is compromised badly or easily messed up, I would be careful about using this.

The texture is a thick gel-type cleanser that smells like matcha tea. It does foam up very little, but I think anything with foam just doesn't work with my skin well. I still gave this two stars since the ingredients are really impressive and the reviews on her website show it can work well for others.

I will be giving this to my mom to use since her skin can handle more products than mine :)

Treatments (Face) -Unlisted Brand -Stratia Rewind

This is a great serum with proven ingredients, a creator who researched and built her line around effective ingredients minus all of the unnecessary fillers, fragrances and preservatives. I love this serum. It’s hydrating, soothing and contains ingredients I am looking for in my skincare. Let’s not forget affordable!
I’m impressed with Stratia and am all about a female entrepreneur who bases her products on real science and proven ingredients. Will buy this skincare line as long as it’s available.
I’m dry, using Retin A and have tried hundreds of products low to high end. This serum is effective with zero irritation, which I need. It hydrated and calms my skin. Top this with Liquid Gold and even when my skin is irritated from Retin A this soothes and hydrates.
