I never want to be without this magical little potion. My skin feels firmer and is more radiant after use. No irritation at all!!! I have purchased two backups!

I actually really like this! (I was very dubious!!!) I have noticed that my crow’s feet (relatively fine for my age) seem to be diminished and the forehead wrinkles seem shallower. It makes my skin feel firmer too. I massage it in with a vibrating facial massager (when I remember) or pat it in with a finger tip. It is VERY watery and is best dropped into the palm of the hand rather than dropping it directly onto the face.

It looks good when first applied, quite glowy and natural. It starts to disappear after a couple of hours and also looks quite shiny, which I am not a fan of since my skin is already combination oily.

I am on my second bottle of this. I do not get breakouts anymore (upside of aging) but I still have large pores and they certainly got smaller after I added this to my routine. You do need to apply it carefully if you layer it over other products and not use too much and pat it on instead of rubbing it but that is a very small inconvenience given the results.

I looked up a lot of reviews before purchasing this serum and based off those, the product seems meh when it comes to its promise in fading away hyperpigmentation. However, I still wanted to try it anyway since I’ve tried so many things to fade away past acne marks (AHAs, BHAs, niacinamide, vitamin c etc) and none of them made a huge difference. THIS HAS. I’ve been using this alongside The Ordinary’s rosehip oil for about 4 months now and both of those combined has helped my PIH fade away so much quicker. I could already see the difference in my acne marks with the rosehip oil alone, but they faded away faster with this serum. My acne marks used to take 3-4 months to fade away just 50% of the way. But now, 1-2 weeks is enough for me to see a 50% fading of my acne marks. By a month or two, the marks are completely gone! Bonus is this hasn’t broken me out either, so it isn’t undoing any of the work it’s done by giving me more acne and therefore more acne marks. My bottle is more than halfway done and I really don’t wanna have to repurchase soon, but when that time comes I’ll be doing just that.I know this hasn’t worked out with everybody but if you’re desperate to fade away any unwanted marks and you’re curious about this product, I think it’s worth a try. The good thing about this serum is it’s cheap so if it doesn’t work, at least you didn’t spend too much on it.

This product has helped prevent my skin from breaking out, especially if I’ve been using other skincare products that have aggravated my skin. Like once I used a face oil that made me break out, thus serum helped keep them at bay. Once I stopped using this serum and continued with the face oil, I broke out even more. But if I’ve been using good skincare products that don’t break me out or irritate my skin, I don’t really see a difference when I use this. In fact, I feel like if I use this too much (twice a day, for example), I feel like I’m breaking out a little more. I think it’s a great value for what it does though and if it works for you, great! If this doesn’t work, at least buying it doesn’t break the bank. I do wish this had worked out for me.Also, like many would’ve said - this balls up if you apply too much by accident or apply another product or two underneath (eg. a toner, essence or another serum). I find it easy to prevent though, by making sure I don’t apply too much and patting the product in as opposed to rubbing.

After all the rave reviews & the promise for highly effective Retinol product, I’m quite disappointed! Here’s why..My skin is the kind who react extremely fast & well to effective compound. After three months of use I haven’t notice any change in my fine line what so ever. I was about to categorize this as a dud, but decided to test it all over my skin. I did notice my overall complexion looks more youthful and glowy, I’ll say that,However, I can achieve the same effect with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil just as good, And These fine lines are still there.. (35, smooth skin, no skin issues, some fine lines) I adore The Ordinary for being so affordable & the use of all natural high-quality ingredients,But, at the end of the day this product didn’t delivered.

Smells like fish, though, to the point that I contacted the company to make sure that the smell was considered normal. I was assured that the smell was because of the ‘natural cold processing’.
I could have gotten over the smell for good results though, but, eh.
Oily feeling oil on my face.
Never really sank in.
All in all, just...no.
I trashed it.

Normally I don't have a problem with oils but this made me breakout literally the day after I started using it. It was all over my forehead which is the one area I NEVER break out in. I didn't even notice a difference in my skin's moisture levels so I found nothing redeeming in this product

It is a bit overdue, and a bit futile to write this review as this product is being discontinued, but I will write this quick review anyway. I tried this product at the beginning of the year, and it produced expected results. I had the typical reactions that are associated with retinol usage (irritation, sensitivity, flaking, purging, etc.). The irritation was probably my fault, as I had overestimated my skin's ability to tolerate retinol, so I applied a little too generously too quickly. The product did work however, and it helped to clear out a lot of congestion under the skin. It is not a product I would recommend to novices or to anyone who is not ready to face the irritation that can come along with its usage. The texture is very similar to a clear silicone primer, which I did not particularly enjoy. I found that it was hard to measure, and to spread evenly/sparingly. At the time, it was the only dosage of retinol that was available at the Ordinary (not including the retinoid products). They have since introduced 0.2%, 0.5% and 1% retinol in squalane which I much prefer. The lower dosages allow you to build up your tolerance gradually, and I find the squalane MUCH easier to spread. Since it is in dropper form, I can control how much I'm using. I will write a separate review for the new squalane version after further usage.

I have sensitive combination skin with an occasional breakout in my chin area or on my forehead rarely. I use this as a spot treatment and preventative. 1. It is very drying, moisturise twice a day at least if you use it or your skin will peal and be flaky.2. It does work to some degree, I've noticed less spots and some spots that I have are quicker to come to the surface and heal than before, however it doesn't stop all of them and I still get painful ones on my chin, but less often.3. It foams a little bit if you rub it on too quick but it dries instantly so just let it be, once it's dry moisturise. In the morning moisturise again cause you will dry out.4. Rinse off your face in the morning and use sunscreen cause this will make your skin very prone to painful sunburns.Overall it is not the best out there but it's good, for 6 bucks it's worth it.

Made my skin irritated, dry, painful, had bumps that looked like chemical burns/razor burn on my face and my face was clear to begin with... I have sensitive combination skin with an occasional breakout and this didnt help but made it worse. Once I stopped this my face returned to its normal state. I like this brand but please test this out for a week or so on a small patch of your face cause you dont wanna end up like me

I was so excited for this product because I value products that are natural and effective, not too many chemicals. Well, let me tell you...this did not work how I expected. I used this for some time, trying clear up and brighten my face, I don't have heavy acne or anything just an occasional breakout here and there. But I literally got the worst reaction from this, my skin was painful, dry (i do moisturise everyday so that wasnt it), red, sore, there were little red bumps that looked like chemical burns on my hose and cheeks (i never ever break out on my nose or cheeks), it was not nice. I had to stop this immediately and it took a few days for my skin to get back to its normal state after stopping this and the second I stopped with this product my skin came back to its natural/good state.Maybe it works for some but if you have dry, sensitive skin, I would be cautious when using this. Test it out first on a small area for a week.

I wanted to like this product. Honestly though, it wasn't terrible. It has a great range of shades and I was able to find a suitable one without ever trying it in person & just navigating through the shades on The Ordinary website. It's also very affordable. But I've tried better. This sorta oxidised on my skin (maybe I should've gotten a shade lighter, but the same tone) over time, didn't last very long on oilier areas of my face and most of all, wears terribly under sunscreen which is a big no for me. I know it has SPF15, but I've been trying to be diligent with sunscreen because I'm trying to quicken the fading time of my hyperpigmentation marks. This foundation got very cakey when worn over sunscreen. After that I only used this at night but I never ever go out at night anyway, and when I do I've already been out during the day so I would've applied the foundation in the morning so I still would've used sunscreen underneath. I ended up giving this away to my sister (whom I've been estranged with over the last year lol family issues - given to her via my mum) and that's how much I didn't need this foundation in my life. It's an okay foundation, but not the best. If you don't wear sunscreen underneath makeup and your skin isn't too oily, it could be alright for you though.
