I was using the CD Black Vanilla shampoo but there was a BOGO half off sale so I picked up this one to try.

Shampoo itself is medium thick and creamy, with a pleasant scent. The bottle has a convenient pump but I actually had to have my bf get it open for me the first time. Price is ok and widely available.

I felt this worked about the same as the Black Vanilla shampoo - lots of lather, nice fragrance. I know there are complaints that these shampoos leave hair feeling dry and tangly, and I agree but I don't mind at all. I have thin hair but a lot of it, and it's very porous. I have waves but like to encourage curls and this shampoo doesn't weigh down my hair. I use a good conditioner afterwards and that provides the right amount of moisture for me.

I like that this doesn't contain sulfates bc it's gentle on my highlighted hair color and I'm following the curly girl method.

I like Carol's Daughter shampoos and will continue to repurchase.

Conditioner -Carol's Daughter -Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner

As a hair perfume, this is alright (even though it does smell like Hawaiian Tropic). As a leave-in conditioner, it is absolutely worthless. This leaves my fine, thin hair totally dry at the ends and does nothing to tame flyaways or moisturize my hair. I'd rather my hair not have a scent and be somewhat healthy than have it smell like a 90's beach and look like straw.
Hard pass.

I love this hair conditioner. While I agree with the other reviews, I see this product more as a cleanser than as a conditioner. After shampooing, I apply a pump of this and feel like it adds moisture to my hair but more importantly, it clarifies my scalp and hair making it cleaner than just applying shampoo. After rinsing, I use a moisturizing conditioner just for a minute and my hair feels moisturized and clean.

Hair Treatments -Carol's Daughter -Almond Milk Ultra-Nourishing Hair Mask

This is a great every other day hairmask. I dont wash my hair daily so i cant say how this performs but it does a good job keeping my hair detangled and soft to the touch when i use this about 3 to 4 times a week. I needed something simple and nourishing but doesnt weight down my hair. I like the way it smells and its not overpowering but it does smell like baby powder plus almond, i think its an okay smell. Some might think otherwise but i love almond milk and almond cookies so this is my cup of tea. its not something that lingers. I got this on amazon for about 13usd. i want to try the macadamia oil one next. Im always on the hunt for haircare and switching because i get bored of the smell lol

Id repurchase if i dnt find nother which i doubt i would this has been doing a great job for the meantime so its def a good find from the drugstore

This did not moisturize my hair at all. Fortunately I was working with a sample so I am not stuck with it.

I was sent a sample of this shampoo along with the conditioner. I think maybe from Ulta and it was not something I asked for. Anyway I decided to try it this morning and was not impressed. I did like the scent and it lathered well but my hair felt wiry afterwards, even with the conditioner. Also it did weird things to my color. It made my golden copper look silvery.

Shampoo -Carol's Daughter -Almond Milk Sulfate Free Shampoo

Horrible product that I had the misfortune to spot at CVS and pick up since it was $3.24 on clearance and I had coupons. This stuff dried my hair and made it extremely unmanageable. I only used it one time, but since then my hair has been extremely dry and develops small matted tangles. I haven't had problems like this with my hair as long as I can remember. What a mistake to buy this product. Learn from my mistake and stay the heck away from it. I've tried all sorts of things to repair the damage from this shampoo and so far nothing has worked.

I got this on a whim from CVS a few weeks ago. Not because I needed it or anything, but because it was there, it was marked down 60%, and I am an impulse shopper. But hey, I really love it, so that makes everything okay. For my mid-length 2a hair I apply about 2tbls of product into freshly shampoo'd hair, let sit for an 30-60 minutes and then rinse out in the shower. When wet my hair hair great slip and detangles easily, and once it's dry it's super soft and has lots of volume (something that can be elusive w/ deep conditioners and my fine-ish hair). Add to that the lovely almond smell and I will definitely repurchase this at full price once I use up the jar I have. Speaking of which, I'm not a huge fan of jar packaging for haircare products including this one, but it's not a deal breaker either.

This shampoo smells really good, more of an herbal vanilla rather than a food-ish type vanilla. Personally I love the scent. It's a real treat to use.

It does have a thicker consistency, but I didn't find it hard to distribute throughout my hair at all. Produces thick lather and rinses cleanly.

I understand what other reviewers have said about how this makes hair feel. It is not an intensely moisturizing shampoo, so it does leave my hair feeling a bit straw-like. I have to use a conditioner of some type afterwards, definitely. However, I have fine hair that can tend to get easily weighed down and I find that using this shampoo with a moisturizing conditioner gives me the perfect amount of volume.

I have been checking out the Curly Girl method, which says to avoid shampoo with sulfates and conditioner with silicones. I found this product at Walmart for about $10. I love the convenience of the pump dispenser, even though it took quite a few tries before I could get the pump to initially pop up for use. I would buy this again.

I bought a small, $3 sample sized jar from Target to try this out. So far I've been loving it. Smell is lightly citrus/orange to me, but I barely use less than a dime sized amount, I scoop out more like a pea-sized amount with the back of my fingernail, so the smell doesn't linger that long because I use soo little. I warm it up in the palm of my hands first before finger combing it through my hair, starting at the ends first. Overall, I'm happy with the result of smoother ends and adding some shine, which is exactly what I bought this for.

Update: I am upgrading this to holy grail status for me...it just works sooooo well with all my other much loved hair products. I usually just use this for my ends. My kid loves the smell of this too.

Hair Treatments -Carol's Daughter -Hair Milk Original Leave-in Moisturizer

i was really surprised to see the bad reviews for this. i was on the hunt for a leave-in conditioner that has NO protein, which is very hard to find. my hair is dry, wavy, thick, and very coarse. every leave-in I've tried has made my hair more dry and crunchy and the common thread seemed to be protein in the ingredients list.
this one makes my hair super soft. the scent is kind of oat-y or wheat-y but it is a non-factor for me, inoffensive.
as for price, it's a little spendy for the drugstore but i think it's worth it. i bought the travel size for under $4 just to try it. with as little as i use, it will last forever. i think the full size is $13 or $14 at cvs.
my one word of caution is to only use a tiny bit. for my mid length lions mane i use a dime sized amount - any more than that makes my hair flat. it would probably be too much for those with fine hair, but if you have hair like mine it's definitely a game changer.

NOTE: I originally left this review for the almond leave-in, oops. It's this one - the original formula.

**ORIGINAL REVIEW:**

Not sure what I think about this shampoo yet. My hair felt extremely dry and straw-like upon rinsing. I'll update my review after a few more uses to give it a fair chance, especially since it has so many good reviews.

I bought it because it is "sulfate-free". I thought it would be gentle on colored hair. Perhaps I assumed so wrongly. The first few ingredients sound similar to SLS. I presume they are just lesser-known surfactants that you would expect to be less damaging compared to the infamous SLS, but I'm not convinced. Admittedly, I'll need to do more research on the ingredients before judging. All I know is that my hair felt extremely parched and stripped upon rinsing.

The smell seems very luxe. It has a heavy, perfume-like fragrance. I can't pinpoint exactly what it smells like. It is an intense, sensual smell, but not a particularly pleasant one in my opinion. I don't really care for it. Once rinsed, however, the smell didn't really linger.

**UPDATED REVIEW:**

Well, I've been using this shampoo for three weeks and have decided to downgrade my review from two stars to one star.

I can't get past the extremely dry feeling it has upon rinsing. It makes my normally smooth hair feel mangled and dry in the shower, like a dry, clumpy bird nest. I smother it in conditioner afterwards to little avail.

My flyaways and frizzies have worsened over the last few weeks as well.

I had mentioned in my original review that the reviews here seem favorable overall, so I thought maybe it was just me. Since then, however, I've come across many reviews on the Carol's Daughter website that seem to line up more with my not-so-impressive experience. At least I'm not alone!

I have also decided I don't like the scent. There's something in it that smells faintly, yet distinctly, like an ashtray to me. It's very odd.

I really tried giving it a chance. I hate to say it, but this is my least-favorite shampoo of all time. (And I've washed my hair with Dawn dish soap before!)

I haven't tried any other Carol's Daughter products, so maybe this one is just a dud. Some people like it, so I guess to each their own. On to the next...

I am white and have very baby fine hair that gets weighed down easily. This has been the perfect balance of moisturizing, yet not so heavy my hair looks greasy. I've even used it on my 4 yo daughters baby fine hair to enhance her curls and it works beautifully. I honestly didn't know this was even considered an ethnic product because I grabbed my first bottle at TJ Maxx. I don't think I would have tried it if I had known it was for ethnic hair simply because I assumed it would be too moisturizing and heavy for my hair, but I'm really glad I tried it because it works amazingly well for me and smells delicious.

I'm white with very fine, dry, wavy hair that I keep shoulder length. My hair NEEDS oil but gets oversaturated easily by creams and gels. Putting oil in a spray bottle = genius if you ask me.

I find that I have to go VERY light with this stuff to get the right results. If I spray the wrong way or too close or more than once or too far up the ends, I get an oil slick patch. It's definitely not easy to get the distance and placement right -- but when I do, my hair is really silky, bouncy and healthy looking. I don't care for the fragrance (why oh why do companies insist on putting fragrance in things that aren't perfume?) but luckily it fades quickly.
