WOW!!!! I'm totally WOWED by this fragrance. Its been a long time since I've owned a Thierry Mugler fragrance and i love it. It has only four notes which are rhubarb leaves, vanilla bourbon, orange blossom and woodsy notes. I remember about 15 years ago i owned Burberry Brit Red and Aura reminds me of that fragrance since it also had a dominant note of rhubarb. Also, kind of reminds me of Cacharels Eden too. Ive read a lot of reviews that state they get a wintergreen scent or a menthol scent but i dont get that at all with Aura. To me this fragrance is vegetal. That's why it teminds me of Eden. The bourbon vanilla is soooooo soft and comforting. It truly does smell like bourbon. Easily a unisex scent if not downright masculine. Aura is not just another mundane floral scent that dominates womens fragrances. In fact i dont get any floral at all just lovely rhubarb and that incredible bourbon vanilla. Its different. It has its own "aura" lol. The bottle is a total work of art too. I tip my hat to you Mr Mugler. Aura is a winner. Thank you for blessing us with this beautiful fragrance.

Beautiful bottle. I love the scent of wintergreen. However, when I sprayed this, something in the top notes made me want to remove it right away. This frag may be polarizing. People will either love or hate it. On my skin, the cool notes on top and warm notes on the bottom clashed. I could smell Alien, one of my all-time faves, underneath it all, so I will stick with Alien. Perhaps the top notes of Aura, combined with other green/breezy/cool notes would have worked better on me, but that would have made it a totally different frag. This brand is often heavy/warm/spicy, so I'm not sure if they'd ever head in that direction. The market used to be full of "fresh" aqua water note things I could not wear, so TM would need to have something really different that would stand out from those for me to tolerate it.

When I heard my signature/all time favourite perfume, Mugler Womanity would be discontinued I was really upset. I know it was a 'love it or hate it' kind of scent, but for me it was definitely the former, I got the most compliments ever (from guys too) when I wore that.Anyway, I first tried Angel Muse at the airport a year ago, at that time I felt like it was too similar to the original Angel, which on me doesn't really work. Then I tried it last week again and this time I fell in love. Yes, you can definitely tell its origin, but it is more gourmand and in my opinion more unique than Angel and also more wearable since it's not that sugary sweet.Muse's lasting power is not that excellent as Womanity's was, but I don't think anything will ever top that for me unfortunately. My only other small complaint would be the bottle. Although it is beautiful, the fact that it cannot stand (unless you buy the biggest size) is a bit annoying. It is still too early to tell but I might have just found my new signature scent.

It's magnificent. Very possibly Mugler's best Alien flanker so far. It does have Alien DNA but it's so beautiful it deserves its own title. The bottle is charming, but Flora Futura could also be comfortable in Aura's bottle. I have some perfumes with the intoxicating smell of cactus flowers, but, I must say, Mugler's captures this mesmerizing aroma better than anybody else. I ordered directly from Mugler's website. I have no idea when or if it will come to any US department stores or boutiques, but this company will be missing out on massive sales if it doesn't. If you love cactus flowers, do NOT miss this scent. Get it right from the website! On my skin this smells extremely similar to Mugler Aura, but with a stronger white flower accord.

Elegant, creamy-salty jasmine and aromatic woods. This fragrance has been a legend and a classic for 13 years, so my adulation is nothing new. However, I just discovered it for personal wear. (Of course I was familiar with it, I do live on this planet!) I had never worn Mugler fragrances until recently falling head-over-heels for Aura. I believe I developed an understanding I had missed out on all these years. Also, I am so tired of pissy-weak, short-lasting, linear fragrances, I'm half tempted to wear Red Door or Youth Dew just to have detectable perfume. I never thought I'd miss Giorgio, but my olfactory senses have been so deprived, I nearly bought myself a bottle of it, just to bask en sillage. Lucky for me (and everyone else), Alien is above and beyond all of those in sillage and presence. Plus, it's absoutely beautiful, and distinctive. It's not "everyday" for me. I feel like I need to dress up for it. It's special. The bottle is a treasure as well.

I tried Aura and was very disappointed. Sadly, it was root beer/sarsaparilla (the wintergreen) mixed with Mugler Alien to my nose. This one is not for me. On a positive note, the bottle is interesting and stands out in the crowd among other perfumes I saw.

I knew there was a new Mugler release, of course, but I didn't care. I did not seek it out, and I did not expect to be interested in it. One look at the bottle and I was drawn like a magnet to the Aura display. The bottle is truly beautiful. Not only is it my favorite color, I adore the clunky, heavy weight of it. It feels like holding a huge, radiant jewel from another world. When I sprayed Aura, I was intrigued. Aura is as green smelling as the color of its bottle. I've never smelled anything like Aura. It's fascinating, and brilliant, that this brazenly synthetic fragrance smells...alive. In 1993, Mugler's Angel influenced the fragrance world more than any perfume that ever existed, with its now ubiquitous chocolate-patchouli signature base. I think this house is about to rock the planet again. Firmenich's "Tiger Liana" could be as significant as that iconic "gourmand note". Aura begins as a dewy, even damp, mossiness. Before it emerges as Oriental lushness, Aura becomes even leafy-greener, and salty like ocean water. It's like you are breathing in everything that's green, including living matter. Aura slowly, tantalizingly becomes delicious with gentle sweetness. Comforting notes, like vanilla and almond, materialize to calm the visceral shock caused by reacting to something chimerical. Aura is dazzling and vibrantt, and a joy to discover in a world dominated by fragrances formulated to appeal to the masses. My sister, who leaves nearly 4,000 km away from me, coincidentally purchased Aura on the same day I did. Neither of us gets even a hint of liniment, or wintergreen, or any kind of mint, though other reviewers do detect it. For us, it's orange blossom and grassy green notes that become creamy almond-vanilla seduction. Aura is head-turning, addictive, and mesmerizing. Everyone compliments this fragrance as asks what I'm wearing. I'm not sure why people are commenting negatively on the price. I paid $75.00 for a 1 oz. bottle. That's right in line with every other fragrance on the shelves of Ulta, Sephora, etc. Compared to niche brands it's a bargain! In any case, why would a Mugler be sold at drugstore prices?

Everything about this scent is marvelous. All the notes are present. From the sensuality of the smoky scent to the warmth of the balsamic , amber and vanilla..this perfume is unique. The bottle resembles the shape of a woman's genitalia. Which many have complained about. Is it fair for such a gem, to be judged by its appearance? Perhaps mr. Muggler created this "essence absolue" after inhaling the true scent of an intoxicating female alien and designed this bottle after witnessing a rare rosebud waiting to be plucked..

I got this for Valentine’s Day and spent 2 days trying to love it. It smelled very medicinal and never changed throughout the day.

How beautiful is this bottle! The details and presentation are absolutely everything! Shining the bottle into the light shows, the detail of the heart-shaped fragrance as the green colour glistens in the light. For me, this perfume was a great scent to wear on a ‘date night’ as the scents exude femininity. The floral notes of orange blossom can be smelt with the musky notes of bourbon, vanilla, Wolfwood and a top note of rhubarb leaves. For me, this scent is the perfect blend of opposite notes, as I love the woody tones, with the floral notes making the scent more feminine. I also love that Aura Mugler holds such mystery and positivity as a fragrance, as the emerald colour symbolises life, luck, hope and intuition.

I'm really on the fence with this one. So many strong, often contradicting notes. And when I say strong, this is Burberry level, fill-the room strong. I initially tried this when ten or so samples popped up in my magazines, and even with it's weirdness I find it alluring. Hard to stop coming back to, but not something to pick up without testing first. The good: The samples came in a very unique cardboard spray package, and while I prefer the tall thin bottle to the star shaped packaging, it is refillable, and for that it gets 5 stars on packaging. The scent itself has some very strong notes, with patchouli, bergamot and sandalwood battling it out only to mellow into the gourmand and fruity side of things. There's a lot going on in this, but I love bergamot and nothing I own is quite like this. The bad: This is too strong to wear around lots of people, I prefer it in cooler weather, this is definitely not a daily scent for me but something I reach for when I want drama. The ugly: I've never worn another fragrance that is quite as polarizing. People either really love or really hate this.

It is way too strong for me. I got it as a present if I wear it people start to cough. Don't get it.

Thankfully I received this as a sample because I was on the verge of blind buying it (usually not a good idea). I'm extremely glad I got a chance to try it first because once the short life of bergamot goes away you're left with a dupe of Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino. If you like neroli and want a nice clean cologne for summer this is definitely for you. The scent life was short, only about 2 hours and as a cologne stayed close to the skin. I'm not a huge fan of neroli so this was a no-go for me, especially since I have Eau de Rochas which is perfect for summer and has a lot more depth and staying power. The good news is that it comes in a generously sized bottle for a reasonable price so reapplying isn't a problem, especially if you take a spray decant with you on the go. The reason I gave it a lower score was because there are similar, better options out there and for the longevity issue. Some other reviewers got a longer scent life out of it so it might be a good idea to try before you buy and see how it performs in the heat.

It pains me to write this review because I ADORE this scent: perfectly balanced warm, yet not too spicy, clean jasmine. I love the way this smells on other people, and think this fragrance is best during colder weather or at night. Unfortunately, I hate the way this smells on me. My skin chemistry makes this smell so metallic, so perhaps I will try the EDT out to see if that changes anything. Longevity and sillage is wonderful, and the refillable bottle is a very efficient concept.

I really love the original Alien, and it is my signature scent. I got a sample of Eau Extraordinaire and I knew I had to have a full bottle of that as well. It smells a lot like Alien, but fresher and maybe a little more effervescent. It lasts as long as the original on me, which is definitely a full eight hours and then some. The bottle is gorgeous too. Alien's purple and gold stone is dark and mysterious, whereas Eau Extraordinaire's bottle is full of luminosity, and both definitely fit their respective scents. If you love Alien, then this is a must-try.
