Masks -The Body Shop -Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask

on 11/23/2017 6:31:00 PM

This mask claims to boost hydration, replenish the skin, and make your skin softer after one use. This mask did nothing at all for my skin so I returned it. I tried this mask 3 or 4 times and each time I saw no difference in my skin. It's pretty pricy so I'm very glad I returned it. The mask itself is a non sticky thin jelly texture. It goes on easily and washes off easily. I let it sit way longer than the advised 10 minutes with no effect. The jar is nice and heavy but narrow so you have to dig in to get product. Overall, I do not recommend this. Just get a really good moisturizer.

Masks -The Body Shop -Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask

on 11/23/2017 4:47:00 PM

This is a solid exfoliating mask. It's a medium to thin white paste that applies smoothly on the skin. It's has a light herby scent that's not overpowering. It burns a little when first applied. I leave it on for longer than the 10 minutes on the instructions. I just kind of go about my business and wash it off when I think to. The chemical exfoliation is pretty weak. It's got granules that are the right size to exfoliate but not be too harsh. When I wash it off, I treat it like a scrub which is where it does most of the work. It does not brighten my skin or revitalize it. It scrubs it and mildly exfoliates. So far I see no difference in my skin including no difference in my pores. Overall this is an ok mask but it does not excite me.
The jar is heavy and solid, but it's deep so you kind of have to dig into it to get the product. I got it for cheap enough that I will use it up, but I feel like there are far more effective masks, especially for the price. If I had paid full price it would have been returned. For scrubbing, I prefer MAC volcanic ash exfoliator. For chemical exfoliation, I stick to my 2% BHA liquid from Paula's choice and retinol. Also, word of caution. I got one of the grains stuck in my eye. That hurt so bad and I could not get it out. I ended up filling my sink with water and sticking my head under water with my eyes open and swishing my head around. Think swirly in a sink with your eyes open. It really really was not fun.

Cleansers -The Body Shop -Aloe Calming Facial Cleanser

on 11/21/2017 9:55:00 AM

I first bought this years ago on a complete whim, and was impressed with how it cleansed my skin without drying, and actually lived up to the "calming" claim, as it could soothe red and irritated skin. I used it up and went on to try other cleansers. I recently repurchased this because I was looking for a cleanser to use in the shower in the am., not something to deep clean or remove makeup, but just something to freshen my skin without drying it, and I remembered really liking this. This has been reformulated, and it's just not as good.

I can't put my finger on what has changed but I just don't find this as soothing as I did before. It's a cream cleanser that does not foam at all. It doesn't dry my skin out or cause any bad reaction, but it doesn't "calm" like the previous formulation did. All in all, it's an okay product but it's pretty expensive and not super impressive. And it really annoys me that the front of the bottle has a picture of aloe leaves (cross-sectioned) and it says something like "with hand-filleted aloe from Campeche, mexico" but when you read the ingredients, the only aloe-based ingredient is "aloe powder". Give me a break.

Fragrances -The Body Shop -Leap Perfume

on 11/21/2017 7:54:00 AM

I cannot believe The Body Shop discontinued this oil either. Years ago I went into our local shop to get a new bottle and an infused body lotion. I bought both constantly. I was told it was discontinued and that it was never coming back.. it never has. After years of begging and pleading with them at the corporate level to give me the “notes” and being refused, I called our friends in Canada, and they emailed me the information I wanted from their corporate office. Mimosa is definitely on the list. If I can find the list (it’s been years and years) I will post it here. Thanks for fragrance ideas..I’m looking into them. I’ve never found anything even close to Leap. I’m willing to try any suggestions ♥️

Moisturizers -The Body Shop -Tea Tree Oil Blemish Fade Night Lotion

It feels really cheap and doesn’t sit on my skin well it rubs off and leaves it feeling dry which made the redness in my blemishes look worse

Cleansers -The Body Shop -Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter

on 11/17/2017 1:47:00 AM

I have used a lot of expensive cleansers in the past such as Clarins, Liz earle, elemis and temple spa. Elemis being my favourite but since having a baby I cannot condone spending so much on a cleanser so I decided to try this one from the body shop.

This manages to take off all of my make up easily. I have waited a week to write this review to see if this was drying or made me break out but it did neither. My skin is soft and looks healthy. Would definitely buy again!!

Conditioner -The Body Shop -Banana Nourishing Conditioner

on 11/15/2017 9:05:00 PM

I love bananas and I love their smell. But the smell of this conditioner is way too intense for my liking.
It smells like a freshly opened pack of dried bananas, and the smell lingers for about a day. It's just too much.
Otherwise great product. Moisturize without weighing my hair down, adds shine, doesn't build up.

I used the whole bottle (pushed myself into finishing it), but I won't buy it again.

Bronzers -The Body Shop -bronzing powder

Love it. More or less can be used depending upon the look you are trying to achieve and it stays in place and stays matte after a long day.

Foundations -The Body Shop -Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation

on 11/14/2017 9:02:00 PM

I am completely in love with this foundation!!! I have tried hundreds of foundations, always on the hunt for one that looks natural, covers well, stays on, and doesn't make me super oily. This is it!!!! As someone with oily skin, Its a battle to have my makeup stay put all day (and I don't like the finish and heaviness of many long wear foundations). While i'm not perfectly matte all day with this foundation, I find myself having to blot less. If you're considering this foundation I would definitely recommend trying it - honestly The Body Shop makeup is SO under-rated! I also love the all-in-one face base.

Shampoo -The Body Shop -Ginger Shampoo Normal/Dry hair and Loose Dandruff

on 11/14/2017 8:46:00 AM

Omg!!! I've been having dandruff ever since I changed my shampoo. And this was the only cure!!!! I usually use it at the scalp but not the ends as it can be drying so I'd double wash my scalp (one with regular shampoo and one with this). Now that my dandruff is cured I use this every alternate washes to give the scalp a good cleanse! Really great and gets rid of all the itchiness and grease!

Hair -The Body Shop -Ice Blue Revitalizing Shampoo

Love this shampoo however they don't sell it in the UK anymore.
Does anyone know of any companies that would ship it to me?
Thanks Robert

Treatments (Eye) -The Body Shop -Aloe Eye Defence

on 11/13/2017 10:51:00 PM

This is the ONLY thing that doesn’t irritate my sensitive eye skin. I have tried expensive high-end products, prescription products, and even just plain aloe. Everything else leaves my lids and surrounding skin itchy, irritated, red, and puffy. I only wish there was a Body Shop close to where I live because I don’t like having to pay for shipping.

Gels/Soaps -The Body Shop -Peppermint Body Wash

on 11/12/2017 4:21:00 PM

This was a really nice shower gel. It was non-drying, and I always felt it got me clean. You didn't need to use a lot to get a large amount of suds. And can we just mention the amazing peppermint scent? Strong scents can sometimes overpowering, but this wasn't at all. Just a nice, clean peppermint. Wish TBS would bring this out again for a semi-annual sale, because I would pick up another bottle.

Makeup Brushes -The Body Shop -Sun Luster Kabuki Brush

on 11/11/2017 5:26:00 PM

Not sure about how I feel about this. Definitely premium quality - does NOT shed AT ALL, sturdy handle and soft, dense bristles... I have washed it 5 times and nothing changed, good as new. Bristles are just as soft, shape is still there, no shedding AT ALL. Incredible, so much better than the high ends one that I spent so much more on. but the handle is so short when I used this to apply mineral foundation I get tired, literally. When using it for other purposes that do not require a long time buffing/blending this brush is awesome. However I have better blush brush and loose powder brush for setting powder so I’m not sure what I can use this for. I don’t use bronzer myself and bought this to apply mineral foundation...

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop -Vitamin E Body Butter

on 11/11/2017 9:48:00 AM

I don't like this because it never absorbs. It just lays on top of my skin and makes me feels yucky. I also don't find it very moisturizing.

I love the scent. It's like a feminine, powdery rose fragrance. That's the only plus I can find, unfortunately.
