Cleansers -The Body Shop -Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter

This has gotten such good reviews compared to TTDO from Clinique that I was sure I was going to love it, but that didn't happen.

I have rated TTDO a 4/5, because it Cleansing slightly worse than my favorite makeup remover, and it costs more, however, it's a decent cleansing balm. The Chamomile cleaning balm however, does not work for me. It cleans worse that TTDO - I tested this by swiping my face with a cotton pad with toner after washing my face, after using TTDO and the Chamomile Butter, and the pad had way more makeup on it when I used this. I use quite a few long-wearing, waterproof, heavy products, and I need a really good makeup remover to keep my skin in good condition.

Generally, I'm left with an oily layer of some kind of residue on my face when I use this balm, and the layer is hard to get off even with forming cleanser. Those with dehydrated or really dry skin might like this residue, but I don't, because it means my makeup is not fully removed.

Further, I really dislike the smell of this. I generally avoid perfume in skin care, but this was a particularly offensive smell to me. It's heavy, the perfume stings my eyes when I use it to remove my mascara, and it gets into my mouth when removing lipstick, and tastes nasty - I don't want to taste perfume when removing my makeup!

Lastly, the price of this is about half of TTDO, but the amount you get is also about half, so I'm not feeling I'm getting a much better deal price-wise. When I bought this on the The Body Shop site, they also had technical issues (for ever a week), which resulted in me having to pay $16 for this and getting no points on my $100+ purchase, which they still haven't resolved

Dried out my face; when I tried reusing as a body wash, it made my back acne worse.

Gels/Soaps -The Body Shop -Satsuma Shower Gel

I don't get the hype about this, the fragrance is so artificial and candy like, the scent doesn't linger, lather is usual, ya it doesn't dry out but there are many shower gels in the whole (no soap, cruelty free category) that don't. There are so many better citric body washes that this one was so underwhelming from TBS which is known for it's shower stuff and yes there are many good ones but this one is a waste of money!

This cleanser is the perfect dupe for the Clinique Take The Day Off balm. It has a similair texture, spreads just as easily and is pretty easy to rinse off with a konjac sponge. It's also pretty damn affordable, considering you only need very little to spread it all over your face. It gets all my make-up off and will allow you to massage your face too if you wish to do so. It did leave my skin kinda tight feeling, which surprised me considering most balm cleansers leave my face moisturized.

However, I have a few issues with this product.
1) The fragrance. The older I get, the more tired I become of companies that market themselves as natural and keep on using fragrance in their products. Enough already. I'm a grown ass woman and I don't need my skincare to smell amazing in order for me to want to buy it. I want it do good things to my face and fragrance doesn't do good things for the face.
2) Stings the eyes. With any balm, I run it over my eyes after I've taken my make-up with a cotton pad in order to get the last bits off and if I keep it on a little too long, my eyes start full on itching that progresses into a sting. This is something the Clinique balm doesn't do for me.
3. A bitch to open. I had to use some serious muscle to open it for the first time. Who ever came up with the idea to put the lid on as tight as spanx needs to re-evaluate that decision. It's just not necessary.

Having mentioned these issues, the overall experience with this product isn't bad at all, but out of all the balms I've tried, this one won't be bought again.
I will say though, if you are looking into using a balm cleanser but you don't want to spend heavy coin while doing so, this is a good option.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop -Coconut Body Butter

I didn't feel it had much moisturizing properties at all. It was greasy, but my skin was still dry. My hands still felt parched. The scent is beautiful and the packaging is also, but for $21, this is a pass for me. The size was generous, but if it doesn't work, what does the quantity matter? I'll just buy the eu de toilett and enjoy the fragrance.

Gels/Soaps -The Body Shop -Coconut Bath and Shower Cream

This stuff is magic. It smells unlike any coconut scent I have ever smelled, but is distinctly coconut. My reason for loving this is not just the scent, but it's rich lather and the softness it gives my skin. After I shave with it, my skin is unbelievably smooth and soft. Nothing else has made it so soft. Irreplaceable product. The bottle is a small size for the price, but the packaging is classy. Sulphate free, natural and vegan. Smells good, works good, makes me feel good. Five stars.

Shampoo -The Body Shop -Ginger Shampoo Normal/Dry hair and Loose Dandruff

Somehow I really enjoy the TBS hair care range, this was no exception, I think it's a great clarifying shampoo, I do use it once a week and it keeps my dandruff at bay, it can be drying so sometimes I just end up mixing it with some aloe Vera gel and it works just fine, the smell is kinda hard to described, it lingers and I like it, it's kinda like a ginger cocktail smell with like a soapy note, ya I know that's an odd description, it says it's meant for dry/flaky scalp but I have an oily scalp and I don't mind it. All in all this is staying in my shower till I find something better, also a little goes a long way.

Absolutely love this one! I have very sensitive scalp and my mom has flakes. Both of us love this one. It does not make my hair super dry. Enjoy this!

Moisturizers -The Body Shop -Oils of Life -Intensely Revitalizing Essence lotion

This has been my HG essence. I use this as part of my day and evening routine and it completely preps my skin for the plethora of lotions, serums and moisturizers I use on a day to day basis.

You don't see the effects of this essence right away. However, in time you'll just notice that your skin just looks more healthy and glowy. I can't live without this in my routine!

Total HG status for me!

I love this shower gel! I have been using this every morning and I even have the small travel sized one that I bring on trips. This smells sooo good. And it does not dry my skin out.

Moisturizers -The Body Shop -Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet

I’ve combination and a bit sensitive skin and it didn’t work AT ALL it didn’t hydrate or moisturiser my skin, besides it burned my skin when I put it perhaps its fragrance is so strong that’s why it burned me?! So I don’t think it’s suitable for sensitive skins.. I can’t doubt its package is cool and nice but it’s mini.. it’s kinda expensive.

Treatments (Eye) -The Body Shop -Vitamin E Eye Cream

Just ur average eye cream. It does hydrating the skin but the downsides are: it gives u no cooling sensation unlike most eye cream. Cant say much about the dark circles claim as ive been using this for about 4 months and i can say on days i use this and combine it with enough sleep and water intake, it does minimize the dark circles and puffiness, but on the other average days it does almost nothing on the dark circles.

Foundations -The Body Shop -Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation

AMAZING FOUNDATION! I am soooo in love with this foundation right now, I think I may have found my true favorite foundation yet. It has great full coverage while having a thin and light consistency. It is never cakey and it really is SUPER matte. I am very oily and this foundation keeps my face looking baby soft even without a powder. It feels very soft to the touch and never rubs off. And the fact that it is only $16 just warms my heart. Love the tube packaging and color. I find that it applies best with my fingers; smearing(?) motion, not dabbing motion.

Blush -The Body Shop -Lip & Cheek Stain

on 2/15/2018 1:59:00 AM

Wow I didn't expect to like this very much at all. I'm one of those people who hates the feeling of lipsticks and glosses but still wants a flush of color in my lips. I kid you not, my go to method for that was to apply lipstick and then wipe it off on the back of my hands. This left some color on my lips but not too much, and I didn't feel like I was wearing any lipstick. Win-win. Well thank god I don't have to do that anymore because of these lip stains. I have them in Dark Cherry and Deep Berry, and I love them. You can play with how intense you want it to look by the amount you apply. I apply a tiny bit and it gives me a perfect hint of color.
