Treatments (Face) -Skinceuticals -Metacell Renewal B3

I really enjoyed using this products. I originally purchased it to use as a serum. I was told that is was a serum by the store rep when I bought it. later on, I noticed it is more of a anti ageing moisturiser. I did like it however, and I used the entire bottle. I used it at night as a second serum under my moisturiser. It did not provide enough moisture to use alone in my opinion. While using, it seemed to help with improving my skin tone and texture. It is extremely light weight and soaks into the skin quickly. It almost has a silicone texture like a primer. I did try to use it during the day but I did not like the finish it left on my skin, it made my skin look shiny. Overall I think it is a great product but it is just not something I need in my routine.

I'm on my third week with the famed serum treatment and I'm not sure what I think about it. I'd say that it requires a low ph toner before applying, otherwise you need way too many drops to spread over face, neck and chest area. I'm currently using Thayer's rose/witch hazel toner right before to help spread CE better. I don't love having a product in my fridge next to the butter, but whatever if it keeps it fresh longer. I'd say it still leaves a residue that isn't my favorite for under makeup--I feel like I have a layer of something on that is a bit tacky, but the benefits outweigh the negatives if its doing what I think its doing.
I haven't seen a reduction in fine lines (it's only been 3 weeks!) but in combination with AHA and BHA as well as moisturizers, I've certainly seen a fading of acne spots on my very white coming-out-of-winter skin. I'm not sure which product to give credit to, but I'm sure CE had something to do with the change in my skin tone, brightness and texture. I'd like to compare to other Cs, but it seems this is the gold standard, so I may just stick to this one. I have Paula's Choice listed as my next to try, since they seem to have the same magic ratio for amping up the C power. Maybe I'll compare, but for now, I'm going to use this until I run out.

I can not rave about this product enough. I have been using it every morning for about six months. I will say I have had endlessly expensive issues with finding a foundation that works with this and my super oily skin. But. Stop. Woah. You can apply this at night time. It does not wash off and lasts for 72 hours?? OK. Game changer. I went against all of the traditional uses, I applied before bed. Chose not to use any other actives, just a quick smear of Dermalogica skin smoothing moisturiser. I woke up and actually, holy shit balls. I sat in front of the mirror, just staring. Smooth. Before I applied foundation. What? Ok, so I have tried every foundation under the sun in the last 12 months, and I do mean every. Chanel to Too Faced. I have spent Thousands. Could it possibly have been the ferulic was just making my skin too greasy????? Oh my god, putting it on the night before has just opened my options up to so many foundations that I negated before due to the grease factor this caused when applied in the morning. And on top of all that my skin looks like butter, I am 38 with hormonal flare ups and stubborn pigmentation. I swear, four drops, the night before, I wanted to kiss my reflection.

i agree with previous reviewer about the amount of alcohol in this. YOU CAN SMELL IT. it's tacky, and doesn't seem to absorb. it sits on surface on the skin.

i was strongly recommended this by a clinic, and totally hates it. there's better HA out there!

This stuff seems pretty miraculous. I knew my skin liked niacinamide so I wanted to try out a more "clinical" strength than CeraVe PM and Missha (my skin does not like NIA - too much fragrance I think). I found this. I trust skinceuticals and CE Ferulic is my one true love so I was willing to invest a bit. It is expensive but it is quickly becoming one of the heavy hitters in my skincare routine. My skin is glowing, even, and plump - I don't even mean that plump feeling you get when you drink a lot of water or use a nice cream that comes and goes - but truly firmer and stronger. I have some fine lines and loss of volume around my eyes and cheeks and I can see this is helping. I was hoping I wouldn't like it so I wouldn't have to reorder but, damn.

Sunscreen -Skinceuticals -Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50

My experience with the Skinceuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense is quite similar to LPomona's below. I'd been searching for a sunscreen that wouldn't irritate my late-40s, sensitive, mild rosacean, combo skin, and that I could wear on my eyelids and up to my eyes without stinging. This sunscreen does that. I do have to apply a light lotion (right now, that's Cetaphil moisturizing lotion) on cheeks and dry areas first though, and let that sink in for a bit, before applying this sunscreen on top. Otherwise, it can be a bit drying for me.

I find that this method of application works best for me: Shake the bottle well, measure out 1/4 tsp, put that on my held-tightly-together fingertips of one hand, pat the fingertips of the two hands together to distribute, then pat it all over my face, spread it gently, then pat it in again. (I find that gently patting it in, rather than rubbing, then waiting a few minutes for it to absorb, works well for this sunscreen.) It takes a few minutes to absorb but once it does, it looks lovely and natural -- neither too shiny nor too matte.

When I use the recommended 1/4 tsp for my face, that's enough coverage for me to go without foundation. The coverage is fairly sheer but has a mild blurring effect that tones down the redness on my cheeks. It doesn't cover it completely but I don't need it to. It just makes my skin look very natural but more even-toned. As for the tint, it works well for my NC20-25/MUFE Ultra HD Y245, light-to-light-medium Asian skin with slight yellow and olive undertones. It's maybe a smidge darker than my natural skin tone but it blends well enough that it makes my skin look a bit "sun-kissed" (as LPomona says), making it perfect for spring and summer, when I wear this sunscreen. (I use a different, SPF30 one, for fall/winter.)

I assume the PA/PPD (UVA) protection on this isn't the greatest, given that the zinc oxide percentage is only 5%. I wear this as a daily sunscreen on workdays or casual weekend days when I'm not going to be out in the sun much. When I'm going to be outdoors longer, or for workouts, I use a different sunscreen (currently I'm trying out Rotho Skin Aqua Super Moisture Milk).

So expensive and did not reduce redness at all. It really did nothing. The consistency is also sticky. Do not recommend.

I just realized that I've never reviewed this gem, though I've been using it happily for years.

My skin is normal, slightly dry, & "mature," and this sunscreen is the most cosmetically elegant formula that I've ever used, by a wide margin. I am NC20, semi-light with yellow undertones. FWIW, the foundations that I prefer are yellow-toned and/or olive-toned. I mention this because this ss is a tinted formula, and it works beautifully with my coloring. That's not to say it wouldn't work just as well with people who have different coloring: I'm just giving you my relevant information.

The tinted formula looks lovely - gives just a bit of a sun-kissed look, but not OTT at all. No one's going to ask me if I've "been away" or anything. I just look healthy & well taken care of. (As a point of comparison, the shade of this formula is significantly lighter than that of La Roche-Posay Anthelios - tinted - Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50. So if LRP tinted mineral formula is too dark for you, I'd highly recommend trying SkinCeuticals.) It's not matte & not super-glowy. On me it gives a real skin finish with just a touch of *natural-looking* glow on the high points of your face.

It's a light formula (watery, actually) & even though I use as much as you're supposed to (1/4 tsp for face), I never feel it on my skin. It is absorbed completely, leaving me with perfectly touchable skin. And . . . (Bonus Ball!) . . . with this sunscreen I don't need, or use, foundation. Borderline unbelievable, but true. My sun spots are almost completely covered, but it's not a "concealer" type of coverage. What I mean is that the slight glowiness of the formula is such that light is reflected away from the spots, so even though they're still *slightly* visible, they're very much blurred. Yay! Also, I pat it on right up to my eyelashes on top & bottom, so the fragile skin around my eyes is fully protected, and there's never any reaction with my eyes. Never. Again, this tinted formula is perfection for me - like I just happen to have lovely skin that needs no makeup. Can you say dream-come-true?

Unlike many mineral sunscreens, this formula does not dry out my normal/semi-dry skin in any way. At the end of the day I take it off easily with Shu cleansing oil and all is well. I've gone through many bottles of this over the years, & it's the only sunscreen I've ever owned that I truly love to use. It should go without saying, but it keeps my skin looking well cared for, though I also make a point of staying out of the mid-day sun.

I hope this helps you in your quest for your perfect sunscreen :D

Treatments (Face) -Skinceuticals -Serum 10 AOX with Ferulic

on 2/20/2018 1:59:00 AM

This was one of the only vitamin C serums I could find that met all my needs, as I have been avoiding silicones, oils, fragrance and alcohol (denat). It is also formulated at the correct PH to actually be effective and contains ferulic acid which helps stabilises the vitamin C. I have used it most mornings for 5 months and can say I have noticed a brightening effect, and increased hydration under my eyes (although I did ditch my eye cream which could be why). The serum goes on smoothly and doesn’t cause any greasiness or pilling. It also doesn’t contribute to my acne or rosacea. However, I’m convinced it stains my skin slightly. I am very pale but with redness and although my husband says he cannot see it, I feel it gives me a slight tan annoyingly. The serum has turned a pale orangey colour, but from what I can gather this doesn’t alter its efficacy which I believe to be true. I stopped using it for a week and did indeed lose the brightening effect. It is expensive and I am going to try another brand for comparison.

Skinceuticals reformulated this product. I think the reviews below are for the old product. The old formulation was so amazing because it hydrated and exfoliated your lips. There was a chemical exfoliant in the old formula. This did nothing. My lips were not hydrated at all. They should bring back the old formula.

I can't believe I am the first to review this moisturizer. I was torn as to whether I should list it as a moisturizer or a facial treatment, but I use it primarily as a moisturizer. It is supposed to restore the volume to your skin, and as my skin ages, I can certainly use a boost. I wasn't thrilled with the price, but I received a decent size sample, and was hooked. It's a great base under my makeup, not too rich, doesn't irritate my sensitive skin and absorbs nicely. I'm on my second jar. The first lasted about 8 months. My skin can be a bit on the dry side, and this does a good job, even in the middle of winter in the Midwest. I do feel like I've had some positive plumping effects, but nothing drastic. Highly recommend!

Really frustrated as I have posted my review on other websites that are authorized retailers of Skinceuticals and they delete my review! I'm sure this is at Skinceuticals' request. That may explain why there are only positive reviews all over those sites for this serum (and I've noticed this for the CE ferulic reviews as well - I come here to makeupalley to get unbiased and undoctored reviews now). I'm posting here since this may help others make a decision with this product. The amount of denatured alcohol in this is crazy! I have dry skin and found this to be more drying over time. Initially I did see a rejuvenative and plumping effect, but after three weeks (using it only once per day over my CE Ferulic) it made my under eye area more dry and my eye and face wrinkles more pronounced. This was the only thing I changed in my regimen. I believe it's the denatured alcohol in this product that my skin doesn't agree with, and eventually my skin started to sting slightly after application because of this alcohol. Definitely sample this first!
