Edit: I bumped this up to 4 lippies because I do like it. Its not a miracle product like tretinoin gel but it's preforming as needed. ---This has the consistency of water. I'll leave that up to you to decide if that's a pro or con.I bought this after missing out the first time it was on the market. When Paula's Choice brought it back there was a lot of praise so I figured here's my chance to see what all the commotion was about. The pros:-Leaves 0 film on the skin. Some might be annoyed that it doesn't hydrate but that's what moisturizers are for. If this was overly moisturizing then it would no longer be suitable for oily, acne-prone skin. A film of residue often leads to a volcanic breakout for me. -Again, no break outs. And no irritation. I am very acne-prone and rosacea-prone. I can no longer use most antioxidant products because they either flare my rosacea or clog my crater pores. So this is a huge plus.-Skin is cleaner. I wipe my face with this in the morning after waking up. It will NOT remove make up but it WILL remove the traces that a cleanser might leave behind.-Antioxidants boost SPF. I need that. -Protects the skin against environmental damage.-Wears beautifully under my sunscreen and make up. The cons:-Minimal visible results. I continue to use it under the mindset that its a preventative product and works in ways I wouldn't expect to see results from. The fact that it's one of the few antioxidant products to NOT cause more harm than good though, puts it at a huge advantage over the competition.-Expensive. The ingredients in it are dirt cheap.-No expiration date. This actually concerns me enough that I hesitate repurchasing. Antioxidants are time sensitive. I need to know when this batch was created and when it expires. PC telling me to throw it away within a year of purchasing is NOT enough to comfort me because who knows if my bottle is new or from an old batch they didn't sell out. :\ -Makes my lips temporarily numb. That is so bizarre to me but not necessarily a bad thing. If they were slightly burning like some posters have reported, I'd be running for the hills. But like I said - this doesn't irritate my moody rosacea.

The Paula's Choice Perfect Cleansing Oil is a fragrance free face cleanser and makeup remover that does a great job removing makeup, oil, and impurities from your face. The directions say to use it on a dry face if you are removing makeup and use on a wet face if you are cleansing a makeup-free face. I must admit that this is one of the first oil cleansers I've used that actually removes every trace of makeup without leaving a filmy feeling on my face. The other nice thing is that this leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated. The other nice thing is the $25 price tag- a little goes a long way so one bottle will last you quite a while. I have sensitive skin and had previously tried the 1% bha lotion. But silicones just don’t seem to suit my skin!
I was scared to try the 2% then when I did ay first I almost wished I hadn’t - I broke out in even more tiny whitehead pimples on my jawline than usual (one of the main reasons I was trying it out was to get rid of bumps there!)
But then I read up a bit about how exfoliants can cause spots to come up quicker than they otherwise would, so figured this was maybe that kind of a purging response. The general consensus seemed to be that big inflamed breakouts probably meant a bad reaction, but small whiteheads were more likely to be purging.
I decided to carry on using it, focusing just on the breakout areas as other parts of my face have got pretty dry recently. It’s been a couple of weeks now and my skin has much improved! I feel like my daily makeup and suncream is no longer clogging my pores in the same way. Going to continue trying this out, will update if any bad reactions do occur.

I had to give this a good 3-4 weeks before seeing any improvement in my skin's texture, tone and clarity. I find that if I skip using it a day or two I immediately notice a difference. I just ordered my second bottle and I will forever be a fan of this exfoliant. When I use this in the AM, my skin is flawless, glowy and fresh looking. Co-workers have complimented on how radiant and fresh I look. The hubs tells me my makeup looks amazing. It's a compliment in a bottle, I tell you.I have had no irritation whatsoever using this.

This one is a true HG for me! I've been using this for years, but six months ago I ran out and didn't repurchase. I really don't know why, perhaps I was thinking it wasn't doing anything for me. A short time after running out I began getting break outs, the sebaceous filaments on my nose and forehead seemed to double in quantity and size, and overall my complexion got less clear. I decided to try out the BHA from The Ordinary, and when that didn't seem to do anything for me, I began focusing on hydration and less actives. Nothing seemed to make my "new" skin any better, so I finally repurchased and after two weeks my skin was back to what is used to be. THIS was the reason I had somewhat clear skin without any major breakouts, and now I'll make sure never to be without. So definitely HG for me! I do find it a bit expensive, compared to a lot of other BHAs, but I gladly pay the price.

This website is a mixed bag of pros and cons, which I'll go into in a moment. I used to be in love with this site and never bought any items that weren't highly recommended by Paula Begoun. My acne was pretty bad, and I purchased all her products because supposedly they were unlike anything on the market and were chock full of the best ingredients known to man. After a year of applying them diligently to my face with no results, I came to the conclusion that there is no be all end all in skin-care. Everyone's skin is different and reacts differently to products. There are a couple ingredients that are scientifically proven to be bad for just about everyone, such as denatured alcohol (not fatty alcohols) but beyond that, it varies from person to person. In my case, I found out that the simpler my routine is, the better it is for my skin. Loads of antioxidants and skin-replenishing ingredients did nothing for my skin; in some cases it irritated it, yet a simple application of Ponds cold cream and a basic moisturizer cleared my skin up. Many skin types can not tolerate complex formulas and do better with gentler, plainer products. Another thing I have come to not like about her website is how biased she is toward her own products. In one of the older editions of her Don't Go to The Cosmetics Counter Without Me books, she doesn't rate her own products, because she said that would be overly biased. However, she does so now, and it comes across as very tacky. The one truly helpful thing about her website is the well-researched Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary. She rates ingredients on how good they are for the skin, so when you're trying to decipher a cosmetic label, you have a general idea that a product with alcohol and menthol as the top ingredients won't be doing your skin any favors. A couple of ingredients she rates as poor, such as lavender and witch hazel, have conflicting reports on them. She says they're bad; other studies say they're great. Take what she says with a grain of salt, do your own research, play around with products to see what works with your own unique skin-type, and you should be on your way to having better skin. :)

I love trying new skincare products but this is a staple that I will never be without. It is one of the only moisturizers I've tried that actually feels quenching and relieving when I put it on, like my skin is thirsty and I'm giving it something to drink. It also has a lot of antioxidants and a great ingredient list in general. I'm very breakout prone but this hasn't caused any issues with breakouts or clogged pores. On nights where I'm exceptionally dry, I mix this with a bit of Cerave healing ointment, I get the quenching moisture of the cream with the thick occlusive of the ointment, it's a great combo for fixing dry skin issues overnight. This product alone though is a HG for me, I've lost track of how many tubes I've purchased.

I bought this on ebay for $15 and that's what it's worth. It's comparable to drugstore in quality. I only use the lighter shades and they are very powdery. The mid tones are pretty dark and are very similar in color. The colors pictured here are much lighter than in real life. I do like the brush that came with this. I would give it higher marks if it was dual ended.

The Paula's Choice 1% Retinol Treatment Serum is one of few products that I have re-purchased several times. This retinol is strong enough to be very effective but contains enough skin soothing ingredients that it doesn't leave my skin feeling irritated. If you haven't used retinol before I recommend you start out very slowly- like every other day or even less if your skin starts to flake. The other option is to start out with a lower percentage retinol. The First Aid Beauty .25% Retinol FAB Skin Lab Concentrate is another great one to start out with to allow your skin to acclimate to retinol treatments. I have read some reviews of the Paula's Choice Serum stating that it made their skin flake and dry but this has nothing to do with the brand- it is just that the percentage of retinol was just too much for them to start out with. I use this at night after cleansing and on top of a very light hydrating serum. I always apply a thick moisturizing cream over the retinol serum to keep my skin from becoming overly dry.I love that Paula's Choice has done a great job protecting the serum from air and light. Retinol is extremely reactive to air and light exposure so you definitely want make sure the retinol you buy protects it from this exposure. This is also why you should use retinol at night and ALWAYS use sunscreen in the day time. The only "true" anti-aging product you can buy is sunscreen. One more thing to love is that this serum is alcohol and fragrance free. It is also on the more affordable end of the spectrum and cruelty free to boot. My video review can be seen here:

One application triggered my seborrheic dermatitis. The same thing happened with PC’s Brightening Treatment. Oddly enough, the Brightening Mask works great for me. I saw no results from one application, but I wouldn’t expect to.

Wearing it for just one day triggered by seborrheic dermatitis. PC’s Brighting Essence did the exact same thing. Oddly enough, I have great results with the Brightening Mask. I didn’t notice a difference in my skin from one application of this treatment, but I suspect it’s a cumulative product. Glad it works for others; I just have sensitive skin.

I had a stubborn case of Perioral Dermatitis for an entire year and during this time I avoided any and all exfoliants because my skin barrier was wrecked and extra sensitive. After clearing my skin and changing my skincare, my skin was in desperate need of some major (but gentle!) exfoliation...to say the least! Although I was nervous about trying anything potentially irritating or drying. This toner is amazing. Non-drying and no irritation. It literally feels like water going on and dries down quickly so you can move on with the rest of your skincare. I started with every 3 nights and moved slowly to every other night and I saw results within just a handful of applications. I've been using it most nights now and my skin is definitely calmer and my PD/Rosacea redness has virtually disappeared or at least it's controlled now (I can still get a bit pink on my cheeks with weather/temp changes). I'm nearly done with my second bottle and I have a backup ready to go in my closet. Wait for a sale w/ free shipping and purchase the little 2oz trial size bottle. FYI, if you travel with the 2oz bottle, be sure to put it into a ziplock bag by itself or transfer to another bottle...it leaks!

I'm an Asian guy with combination dry skin. I'm in my mid 20's, been trying out Paula Choice's moisturizers. Except the SPF 30 mineral sunscreen that I use in the morning, I had no luck finding for the one that best suits my skin. My skin loves thick but not too greasy cream. Lotion does nothing for me, some of them leave tacky oily finishes. I got this as a sample, I didn't have any expectation. So, I normally double cleanse, tone, exfoliate (with BHA). arbutin serum and moisturize, but I decided to put this on immediately after taking a shower. The consistency is luxurious- thick, white cream. But man, this thing glided over smoothly, sunk in my skin almost immediately, and left a subtle thin matte finish. My skin felt soft and hydrated, and plumped! Now I know my skin loves buttery texture. It's not oily, it's just rich and creamy. Hey, I'm trying to prevent wrinkles and I want to look like I'm 26 when I reach 45! I just had to order this in full size.
