Treatments (Face) -Paula's Choice -RESIST Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment 4% BHA

Another BAD allergic reaction here. Paula's Choice should be aware that these cases aren't isolated. I also used this product for 1+ years and then slowly started to get red scaly eczema-like skin around the eyes. Eventually, I caught on but it was too late. I had a terrible case of eyelid dermatitis, with eyes so severely swollen I could barely open them during my last reaction. They peeled, cracked and looked terrible for over a week. I threw the darn bottle into the garbage. That being said, I was like detective on a mission and searched find the culprit! Ladies who have had a rection near their eyes, listen carefully! You are likely allergic to cocamidopropyl dimethylamine. Do not use products that contain this high up on the list, especially in a leave-on product. I used a BHA from the Ordinary and had the EXACT SAME reaction. There is scientific literature on dermatitis and this ingredient. Plenty of it. Paula needs to do her homework... this brand used to stand for something, now it only seeks better profit margins.

Treatments (Face) -Paula's Choice -Resist Omega+ Complex

I found this product useless and a waste of money. It didn't do anything and I frankly just don't get what it's supposed to do and how it fits in a skin care regimen. I use lots of other PC products, but this one just didn't make sense.

Seriously what kind of magical fairy dust is in this stuff? I heard rave reviews of this on the MUA Skincare Board from fellow rosaceans with dry, aging skin so I thought I would give it a try. My skin LOVES this product and at this point I plan to use it forever. It truly does get rid of flakes and bring back some glow which I so desperately need at this time of year. The (many) pros:
- moist but not greasy
- layers beautifully under my moisturizer + sunscreen (no pilling as with other PC serums)
- no irritation whatsoever (no redness, no acne)
- contains no fragrance
- airtight container that keeps light out is hygienic + product holds its potency
- frequent offers on PC site mean it's often 20 - 25% off + they're great about returns

- tiny (1-oz) bottle means I will have to buy this often (since I will never again be without it)
- cost: retails for $36 US (I had 20% off but even so, it's still $28/oz). I miss the days when reasonable prices were a cornerstone of the PC brand.
- some people will be bothered by the long ingredient list because there's a higher chance of irritation for sensitive types (I'm fine with it as long as the product works for me)

Overall this is one of the best Paula's Choice products I've ever tried and I highly recommend it if your skin is finicky + dry. Now if only they would offer it in a jumbo size.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice -CLINICAL Ceramide Enriched Firming Moisturizer

on 2/14/2018 8:07:00 AM

I am surprised to see all the negative reviews here. This is my current favourite moisturiser. I have acne prone, combination/ oily skin. Don't be misled by the marketing and naming of the product, it is NOT a heavy moisturiser for dry skin! It is actually incredibly lightweight with an almost matte and slightly drying finish, which I love. I find it very effective in reducing acne pigmentation and brightening my complexion.

Treatments (Face) -Paula's Choice -Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

Amazing product that delivers everything it promises!! My pores were filed down and tightened so they're almost invisible (since you can't eliminate your actual pores, only decrease them and hinder them from filling up with dirt), no breakouts at all since I started with this one, my skin is smoother and it gives a nice peel and glow-effect. I use it in the morning and AHA 10% in the evening. Would recommend to all! I have combination skin and I now longer have any oily-areas at all. It would probably be perfect for oily/combo skin and for dry skin as well since its "oily" and doesn't try out the skin, but actually works deep down. And you can layer all sorts of products on top without it loosing its edge or effect.
The only downside is that its quite expensive for such a small package and its liquid, meaning you "waste" a lot of product on the pad and a bottle for me only lasts about 2-3 months since I use it daily. But the product itself is absolutely wonderful!

I have been using this for 2 years, and sadly this isn't the HG product I had hoped it would be. The PC SA recommended it for my rosacea sensitive skin. I've tried to modify my use: Scaling back a few times a week or short contact therapy, but it isn't making any remarkable difference, let alone "Skin Perfecting".

I *do* find it reliable for halting the occasional random grudge zit in its tracks, but then the surrounding area often becomes flakey, which isn't easily resolved with moisturizer &/or gentle manual exfoliation. Even with discounts, it's a lot of money for something I rarely use.

I might request a sample of the lower 1% solution if I'm ever tempted to purchase any other PC products. But it's a gamble and none of the sample physical sunblocks I requested w/ my order worked out. The search continues...

Cleansers -Paula's Choice -CALM Redness Relief Cleanser N/D

on 2/12/2018 6:08:00 AM

I love this cleanser! It leaves my skin incredibly soft and calm. Most cleansers leave my skin a bit red afterwards but this one doesn't do so. The only downside is the price tag. I bought this one with Black Friday so I had a great discount but I don't think I will be buying it again since it's just too expensive for me. Still looking for a cheaper alternative for this one.

I bought the 30 ml sample of this. I have rosacea mainly on my cheeks but don't really use this exfoliant on them as it is quite drying and my cheeks are already very dry. I do like to use it around my chin, where I have some hormonal acne. Sometimes the pimples won't stop coming and other times I am pimple free for two weeks. I don't feel like the product keeps the pimples from coming, but it definitely calms them down and makes them less red.

I think that if you have rosacea and a pimple every now and then this product can work out fine for you. But for me, I think I want to try one of their 2% BHA exfoliants to see if it makes a bigger difference. I would be careful on the dry areas of your skin though.

Treatments (Face) -Paula's Choice -Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

This product has been a staple in my skincare regimen for about four years now. I use it every second day after cleansing and before moisturising. It is an effective, dependable exfoliator. The price could be better--$37 for 118ml isn't necessarily a bargain--but it does last for a few months. I don't recommend using it twice a day if you have sensitive skin, you will get the same effect if not better by using it a little more sparingly. For now I am using Cosrx's blackhead power liquid instead of this as it is more affordable and I like to switch up my skincare every now and then.

Treatments (Face) -Paula's Choice -CLEAR Regular Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment with 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide

on 2/6/2018 7:28:00 AM

Note: This review is for the UK version of this product that does not contain benzoyl peroxide.

I bought this product as it contains azelaic acid and I wanted to treat the mild rosacea on my cheeks. I have pale/olive skin that since my 20s has been prone to the occasional breakout (always have at least one spot at a time). I applied this after cleansing in the morning (la roche posay caring wash) followed by avene tolerance (light version for day and riche for night) and then sunscreen (heliocare spf 50 gel). I've tried this 3 times in total, to check it was this product, and each time a couple of days later noticed bumps under the skin that feel like bruises on my cheeks and jawline. Have read reviews and found it has caused cystic acne for some individuals who have never had it before (and I'm the same!). Will try sensaderm product if I want to try another azelaic acid. Unfortunately didn't work for me and a shame at £36!

- claimed redness on my cheeks
- good packaging
- mild scent

- this broke me out in cystic bumps (which I have never had). To check it was this product and not something I came back to it three times and it happened again. I've read reviews of this and found other people have had the same reaction.

Treatments (Face) -Paula's Choice -Resist 10% Niacinamide Booster

on 2/5/2018 10:45:00 AM

So I'm 54 years old. What that means is that I've tried LOTS of products in my life and also that I have a realistic view of how much any one product is going to do to hold off the inevitable result of living & breathing for over half a century. I had never tried anything from the PC line before, however. Since I have been paying some attention to the Beautypedia reviews, I thought I'd actually try a couple of Paula's products a couple of months ago when I saw they were on sale. I have to say that this one is definitely worth the full price! It somehow makes my skin act younger. I did see a slight reduction in pore size (though nothing miraculous on my life-long cratered nose😔), but more significantly I noticed a definite improvement in texture and in my skin's ability to retain moisture. I suppose this is due to an improved barrier function since it does not feel tacky or anything like that. It just feels incredibly soft & somewhat plumped. It has also simplified my routine because I am actually able to get by without washing my face in the morning, which never seemed to work for me before (and probably helps keep further drying away). So I wash my face at night with the new Almay cleanser/makeup remover, then apply 3 drops of this, straight, directly to my face & neck, including around my eyes, just patting it on with my hands. I then pat 4 drops of plain avocado oil over that & finish with a bit of the cheapo CeraVe eye cream. In the morning I use the CeraVe day cream that has retinol & zinc sunscreen in it plus a bit more eye cream and I'm ready to go. That's it. Easy-peasy. Very happy I discovered this product!

Cleansers -Paula's Choice -RESIST Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser

on 2/4/2018 1:23:00 PM

I am a devoted PC user but passed on the cleanser since I felt CeraVe did a good job and I could pick it up at the drugstore.. I got a sample of this and I was wowed. It has a creamer texture than CeraVe which makes it a better match when I use my Clarisonic at night since it doesn't slosh all around. It is very thick and luxurious and cleans better than CeraVe but certainly doesn't strip away moisture. I always felt that CeraVe was leaving something behind after cleansing and I don't use (or believe in) toner. I clean my makeup/skincare off (I don't use foundation, just concealer and blush - honestly after using PC products I DON'T NEED It ANYMORE) first with a Neutrogena wipe and use eye make up remover so I didn't intend it to remove makeup - that's too much to ask of any cleanser. It is however twice the price of CeraVe per ounce so I will continue using CeraVe for mornings and save the Optimal Results for night.

Toners -Paula's Choice -CLEAR Regular Strength Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution With 2% Salicylic Acid

on 2/4/2018 11:04:00 AM

I bought this after reading the reviews on makeupalley, and its the first Paula's choice product I tried. Having tried it for 3 months, until the trial size 30ml bottle ran out, I can say that unfortunately its not for me.

Firstly, the solution is far too runny. I have tried applying it with cotton pads and my fingers, but both times I think a lot of the liquid is wasted and don't know how much has actually gone onto my face. A second con for me is that this bottle is really leaky; I thought with it being a travel size it would be good for, you know, travelling. But I found that everytime I took it anywhere it would leak a bit, and towards the end I think i lost about 5ml of product which is a big waste - basically dont ever have this anything but upright, or maybe put it into a different bottle if you want to travel with it.

The main issue, however, is that I don't really think this did anything for my skin. My skin is pretty reactive and spot prone, and on the plus side it didn't react to this, but I don't think it was strong enough to give me any results.

I was really wanting to like this but I wont rebuy, I have moved onto PC 8% AHA which, so far, I absolutely love! So if you dont have super super sensitive skin and you're not worried about 8% AHA being too strong I would definitely recommend you choose the AHA over this, and I much prefer the gel solution (please read my full review if you want to hear more)

I cannot say enough good things about this product!

After trying PC 2% salicylic acid I wasn't too impressed and thought twice about buying this before I saw someone selling it on ebay as an unwanted present - for the price I thought I may as well try it

I have dry, but acne-prone, reactive skin so was worried this may be a bit strong for me, but I think the gel formula is really good for that. I've only been using for a week but it has made my skin look so so much better, way softer, and makeup is applying much smoother - I've got so many compliments on it, including my boyfriend commenting how clear my skin looks first thing in the morning (as a background I never usually feel confident leaving the house without makeup, and recently I have had tonnes of closed comedones all over my face)

How I use this product: in the evening I clean my makeup off using bioderma micellar water, I then wash it with a gel wash from boots no.7, and then apply this once my skin is dry. As this stuff does leave a bit of a film behind I haven't been using a moisturiser on top, and was worried about it drying my skin out, but it hasn't at all. For the time being I am just using a moisturiser in the morning and my skin is soft and not dry at all.

I'm really hoping this product stays as effective as it is so far, as before this I was considering going to the doctors again for my skin, and was also trying tonness of different products which were simply drying my skin out. This has massively simplified my routine, I've noticed a huge difference in my skin (in a really short space of time), and not only that but loads of other people have too!

Definitely give this a try, its one of the best products I've tried in a long time (and I've tried a lot!!!) Its not the cheapest but one pump does my whole face so its worth the money for the results

I will update if i have any issues with it but I'm really hoping it stays my HG product!
