I’m going to begin a series of reviews on products to enhance cool, platinum tones in blonde hair. Most of these products will be anti-brass. I am trying EVERYTHING. My hair is fine, wavy, blown out every other day. As anyone reading this knows, that great ashy tone is tough to hang onto, so in between salon appointments, I turn to color enhancing toners. I’m after deposit only, temporary toning. This will not cover the Wella toners; they’re actually color, and my hair stylist has forbidden me to touch that anymore. I’m after things that make the hair shiny, don’t weigh it down, and don’t give dull, charcoal tones. So, here we go......My hair is naturally a light, ashy brown, 20%gray, heavily highlighted to an ashy level 10. I want ashy ashy ashy. Borderline silvery, but not granny hair trendy grey. The Joico product seems equivalent to Redken shades EQ. You mix the gloss with an activator, in a 1:1 ratio, apply on damp hair, leave 5-30 minutes, rinse, condition, voila. The gloss comes in a gold, violet, silver and beige, and the whole shebang can be purchased on Amazon. I washed with Neutrogena clarifying, applied the product, left it on for 30 minutes, rinsed and conditioned. The product, for a silver toner, is yellow; alarming for the ash-obsessed who like things to be violently purple. It smells more like dye than other toners. It’s a Demi-permanent, so it doesn’t lighten, but there is a smidge oh hydrogen peroxide in the activator ; presumably to open the cuticles enough to accept the tone. After drying, my hair felt stiff and coated; perhaps wash it out instead of rinsing. It was nice and shiny. The silver version of the toner was more like a beigeifyer-it dulled my color, and deepened it a bit, though it was ashy. I could see this being useful for someone with a too orange ombré, but for the platinum or bright ashy blonders, this isn’t the one. It is temporary, so that’s good. I have the violet version too, and will try to review that.

I am not one prone to write reviews, but felt compelled to write this one because JoicoK-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor saved my hair. I was a platinum blond as a child and over the years my hair has gotten darker to the point that it's now a dark blond. Needless to say, dyeing it blond got harder and harder over the years. I went from a standard box dye to a high-lift blond box dye to bleach. I only started using bleach about 6 months ago, but never using bleach before, I didn't know to be super careful to not let the bleach touch previously bleached hair when touching up my roots. The results was a fried mess that made my hair look like an exploded bail of hay. Yesterday I gave up on doing it myself and went to a stylist. She gave me a K-pak deep conditioning treatment and my hair feels like it used to when I was younger. All the fly aways are gone. It's soft, silky and smooth. I can't say enough good things about JoicoK-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor. It's my holy grail hair treatment. Recommend to all!

Wow. I don't often feel the need to write reviews, but this is a hair game changer for me. We have HARD water and my hair is a dehydrated mess most days. I tried this out before an event and a few days after a fresh haircut and had the best hair day of my life. I did rinse w/ distilled, but left enough product in so I had some decent slip. I blew it out with heat protectant, curled, and it stayed throughout the humidity. I have used Joico reconstructor several times in weeks prior and the two just work so well together. A+ will absolutely repurchase.

This is really good stuff. My hair is fine and color-treated and prone to damage. I'm always wary about shampoos that can weigh it down, especially shampoos that claim to fix damage. This one actually manages to make my hair feel smoother but also not weigh it down. It's worth the price, especially the jumbo size.

My hair is relaxed 4b. I love this treatment. Since going back to relaxers I have struggled with how to keep my hair moisturized while straight. I cannot use water based moisturizers and coconut oil does help after straightening but this truly infuses tresses with moisture that lasts and lasts. A+ product in that you do not need to add heat, it still infuses your tresses. I used this when I was natural as well and I made the mistake others have of first sitting under the dryer with it and then not rinsing it out thoroughly and my hair was a coated oily mess. Just a word of caution, read and follow the directions. This and the K pack conditioners in the same tube packaging are genius. I will certainly purchase again. Got this at Marshall’s for $7.99.

Great light scent and hold for my thick curls. I actually get good second day hair with it. It doesn't flake, has no silicone, and is protein based. I use a leave-in under it and apply about 2 tablespoons to wet hair and scrunch. I define any droopy areas by finger curling and am pretty much set for the day. It can be reactivated with a misting of water. I can still maintain volume and curl definition. Overall, I am very pleased.

Never use this shampoo if you have oily scap- unless you want to end up like me 😭I really loved this shampoo for the first 2 weeks. I used to have dry and damaged hair with split -ends as a results of several chemical treatments. Initially this shampoo made my hair so much softer and appeared to be less fuzzy. Yet after 1.5 months my scap started to have a thick layer of built up. I had so much dandruff although I never had dandruff before, at least not at this extent. And for the worst my hair started to fall out. I didn't notice how terrible it was this until I tied my hair up and realized that hair on the sides of my head were thinning out like they were about to go bald. Plus this shampoo also gives me more greasy and oily hair. Perhaps this shampoo is not suitable for people with oily scap. My mom has extremely damaged hair and dry scap, she loves this shampoo and at the end she was the one who recommended this product to me.

This dries out my hair, unbelievable. I do not dare to use anymore - cannot be healthy for (fine) hair.

I love lustre lock! This product is so good for my hair. It's super smooth and silky RIGHT after I've used it. I know it's for coloured hair but I've been using it on my virgin hair and really feel like it does a good job. It's now in a spray format too, you can watch my full review and demo here on YouTube:

Amazing stuff. I have fine, permed hair that I do regular pin curl wet sets on. It doesn't get much heat styling at all, but the perm makes it very dry and wet sets that are brushed out are prone to frizz. This does what it says, really; it's an intense hydrating treatment, and it works. Makes my hair noticeably smoother, softer, less dry and less frizz-prone. On my third tube, I use this every time I wash ny hair. Will keep repurchasing.

This, along with the K-Pak Intense Hydrator, has made the biggest difference in how my hair looks and feels that I've ever experienced. I'm a convert. My hair; fine, slightly wavy and permed, to help my regular pin curl wet sets last better. The perm is quite rough on the hair, of course, I tend to get a lot of frizz if I'm not very careful about how I do the set and brush-out, and I do brush the sets quite a lot, which is also hard on the hair. This helps a lot, making my hair feel smoother, stronger and better, more like my hair when it's not permed. I do agree that this needs to be followed up with a moisturising treatment, though, it really is a protein treatment, not a hydrator. I'm on my second tube of this, on my third tube of the Intense Hydrator and gradually switching my entire haircare routine to K-Pak products, that's how much of a difference it makes for my hair. Never used salon products consistently before, though, so it could be just that, but either way, I recommend this and will keep repurchasing.

I've been using this consistently for a decade now which should tell you just how much I love it. For reference, I have very fine (but plentiful!) blonde hair which is put through the ringer what with my weekly swim in a chlorinated pool and then lightening it with lemon juice. I use this once or twice a month if my hair is in good condition, and once or twice a week when it needs some extra care, and it always visibly improves the strength and texture of my hair. I have found that it's necessary to follow it up with a deep conditioner or oil to stop it from feeling dry, and I would definitely consider this to be more of a strengthening treatment than a softening one. The only complaint I can think of is that the top always seems to be really stiff and difficult to open which isn't great when your hands are wet in the shower! ETA: I forgot to mention that I first started using this when I had white blonde hair (that, whenever my roots started to show, I would bleach all over out of teenage laziness!) and this is the only thing that stopped my hair from completely disintegrating whenever I tried to run a comb through it. So if you're looking for something to save your bleached locks this might be just what you need!

If you are ever looking for the Chelating Shampoo, it has been renamed K-Pak Clarifying Shampoo. I was pretty set on the Chelating shampoo as I live in an area with hard water, like mineral deposits on my faucets and in my coffee make hard. Needless to say, hard water does a number on your hair. I have pretty typical 2b hair, fine, flat on the top with a slight wave down the ends and prone to dryness. The reason I had to make sure this was formerly the Chelating Shampoo is that clarifying shampoos aren't your friend if you have dry hair. Lately I had noticed my hair was looking particularly limp at the ends one day after shampooing, if I didn't have dry hair it would only be an afterthought, but I had day one hair that where the ends were so dry I'd get static when brushing, and day two my hair was limper than a wet noodle. I wet my hair thoroughly, applied a good amount of shampoo to my palm and lathered up. Waited about two minutes, rinsed well and followed with Joicos Intense Hydrator. I didn't find the shampoo to be overly drying, which was my main concern. Using clarifying shampoos in the pest meant spending 15-20 minutes brushing out tangles from my hair. This left my hair more manageable, but does need to be followed up with a good conditioner. This is a must if you live in an area with hard water.

I have incredibly dry curly blonde hair that has always been prone to breakage. I've tried a few different conditioners and hair treatments and this is my favourite so far for the price! My hair noticeably feels stronger, looks shinier and feels softer!! It doesn't repair hair (nor does it claim too) but it certainly hydrates. If i have the time I will leave on overnight or for a few hours for maximum results (noting my hair is very dry - this may not be as good as an idea for someone with less damaged and healthier hair!)
