For as long as I can remember I have always owned at least one or two bottles of perfume, but back in 2013 I got SUPER into fragrances. I’d be truly embarrassed to share how much money I spent trying to find “the one”. I think it was early 2014 when I discovered Classique EDP. I fell in love. I had never before smelled this fragrance on anyone and I couldn’t understand why that was… This fragrance was intoxicating. Sweet, powdery, boozy. It really smells like a sexy, grown lady’s boudoir dressing table: fancy makeup, a vase of beautiful roses, and a glass of fine liqueur on the rocks. Classique EDP is a powerhouse. It leaves a sexy trail that even the strongest couldn’t resist. It’s ladylike, but not in some stodgy, buttoned-up sort of way. Now my only complaint is how hard it’s becoming to find a bottle. In the past I’ve bad experiences with discount perfume retailers, so I really prefer to purchase from Sephora, Nordstrom, Neimans, Ulta, etc. It was probably around early 2016 that I noticed Sephora was no longer carrying Classique EDP online in the US. About six months later Nordstrom stopped carrying it. Once I noticed Ulta stopped carrying Classique EDP, I decided to invest in five 3.4oz bottles from the last major retailer carrying it: Bloomingdales. So, at least I can keep it as my signature scent for the next few years. Some things to note: the bottles I received from Bloomingdales had a slightly different look from the usual. Instead of the lace bodice they have a plain red one. Apparently, this is the “Classique EDP 2017 Anniversary” release. The appearance might be different, but the scent is the same. Also, the EDT and EDP are two different scents. In fact, they should have had two different names. Both are based around rose, but the EDT is lighter (not in longevity or sillage, but in “tone”) while the EDP has that “thicker” boozy rum note that gives it more depth. I like the EDT quite a bit, but LOVE the EDP. Both are great fragrances.I get huge compliments from Classique EDP. People always want to know what it is that I’m wearing. It’s sweet like most of the popular modern fragrances, but nothing else on the market smells like it. It’s distinct and longlasting. On fabrics/clothes this fragrance lasts until wash day. On skin, I can smell it lingering for well over 10 hours.I don’t understand why Jean Paul Gaultier is doing away with his feminine fragrances… He did such an amazing job creating them.

In the top notes delicate rose scent is spiced by fresh anis. Middle notes combine sweetness of orange blossom and exciting ginger, a powerful aphrodisiac. Vanilla and sensual amber gently embrace in the base. This is very strong. I get a brief waft of spice that dissipates into a fresh, clean soapy scent on me.It's nice but no signature scent for me. Too expensive. If you like this, you should try:~BS Hidden Fantasy~Tocca Brigitte~

Listed notes: Blood orange, honey, patchouli, gardenia. My sister liked this fairly well, but on me, I got bitter orange with powdery sweet patchouli honey. It was very warm and cuddly but also not pleasant. A strange combination of bitter and warm, with the sweet sweet honey. It’s not sticky sweet, and the warm soft powdery is comforting, but the sharp woody/bitter notes don’t meld. It’s almost like Gaiac wood on my skin, (which is a scent that always goes into screaming, rubbing alcohol with my chemistry) coupled with that smooth honey powder warmth. The honey powder part is just lovely, but the overall mélange is LOUD as hell and won’t scrub off now matter how I try. Really disliking this one, but it can obviously work for others. Try before buying.

Now perfumes are completely a matter of taste , this I learnt by too many bad blind buys. So now I try to buy only what I have tried several times. Madame is a love or hate perfume . To me it is pure love and joy. It is so full of character that is why no one can remain neutral to it. It is happy sweet orange , white flowers , musk and pomegranate ... But not a bit cheap , it screams expensive and class !

I remember years ago when i was a little kid my parents would take me and my brother out to a restaurant and they would get a beer or a 🍷 then i would get a drink called a Shirley Temple. It was a mix of sprite and grenadine and the glass would have such a pretty color of neon pink just like the bottle of Madame has. The bottle kind of actually glows a neon pink or orange if the light hits the bottle right. Kind of in the same way the ocean glows blue and green when it is full of organisms. And the Shirley Temple would smell so sweet and fizzy just like Madame. This is a strange little scent but its really avant garde and different. Nothing on the market quite like it. The note of grenadine is so intense and syrupy and mixes so well with the 🌹 note. Lasting power is good and gives good sillage. I dont think this is a straight up masculine scent but it could easily pass as unisex due to the musk and cedar notes. Good fragrance to have in your collection.

One of my favourites I had my eye on for ages before I purchased! It's a true 'classique' perfume, would suit all ages and has such a unique bottle. It's a must!

I have been waiting to get this for months, and now i finally have it. Not only does it smell amazing, vintage, but very classy and sexy all at once, (like it says up top, an aphrodisiac like scent to it!) but i was scared to buy this, i tried the edt in the store not realising it was in fact the edt and it lasted a long time on me! (i normally only buy edps because my skin has terrible lasting power.) Now, bringing it home, it is even stronger than a lot of edps i have tried on each hand today to test its sillage and lasting length. Seeing as the reviews for the edp claim it smells extremely different and lots of people who like this don't like the other and vice versa - I'm extremely glad i got the edt because this scent couldn't be better, stronger than a lot of edp's, yet not too strong, smells beautiful, perfect lasting power and sillage. I don't like it when they mix up perfect edt's and then sell them making you think they're the same and bamb! Completely different fragrance!? Long live this classique Jean Paul Gaultier edt exactly as it is right now i say!

This was a blind buy for me, based solely on the fact that my local chemist was selling off the last few bottles of a whole range of underperforming fragrances at bargain prices (like up to 90% off). I purchased a 100ml bottle of this for $10AU.I have to agree with the previous reviewer about how wonderful this fragrance is, but I don't think it would be a safe blind buy for most people. It's a very polarising fragrance. I have had about a dozen of my friends and workmates rate it, and 6 loathed it. Another two were neutral and the other four found it utterly fascinating ,however only two of those four could imagine themselves wearing it.I find it utterly fascinating. On me it opens with the most intensely bitter note of crushed fig leaves, followed quickly by bittersweet cacao. It's soon joined by very strong woody notes and an incredibly earthy patchouli and dry vetiver. You must love patchouli and vetiver to wear this. After about half an hour the whole concoction calms down and sweetens somewhat, but even so the overall impression of this fragrance for me is autumn, dried leaves, bonfires, and soil.My skin eating perfume doesn't make a dent in this fragrance. To say it lasts is an understatement. Sillage is low to moderate, which is a good thing, given how few of my friends and workmates like it. Because this eau de toilette is so strong on my skin, I actually put a dab of unscented lotion on, spray the fragrance on and then massage it in. This way I can spread the fragrance over a large area and I get a lovely, earthy, bittersweet cloud of fragrance around me. The downside of this is that I lose a little of that crushed fig leaf note at the opening. Nothing's perfect. The only reason I have given this a four rather than a five is because of the number of people who really find this unpleasant. That makes it a fragrance that I wear for myself alone. Yes, I always wear perfume for myself, not because other people love or hate it, but when more than half of the people I am near on a daily basis truly dislike this, there's no point in irritating them. My mum recoiled in disgust when she smelt it on me. My partner tried to get on board with it, but had to admit he really didn't like it. A couple of people asked me if I had been smoking (I have never smoked). It will mainly be worn when I am working in the garden or going for long walks along the beach.Despite the almost total lack of enthusiasm from my friends, if there had been a second bottle available at the chemist, I would have gone back for it too.

No other perfume I've tried can make me feel as sexy and as womanly as Classique EDT does. When I first smelled this a few years back, I told myself that this was going to be the scent I lose my virginity to, my honeymoon scent. To me it smells of seduction and romance in the most dramatic sense, rose petals over satin sheets, lace lingerie and garters (with matching heels ofcourse), a roaring fire-place, lovers cuddling and drinking champagne, a strand of pearls adorning her neck (and tomato red liptick stains adorning his ;)This heady, distinctive scent is just almost too delicious for words; it's sweet, spicy, deep, warm and powdery, a 'curves in all the right places' floriental (yeah, yeah, just like the bottle lol)...something in the scent is reminiscent of beauty products you find on a woman's vanity table, like lipstick, body powder and lotion, but what I mainly get are notes of orange blossom, iris and rose, seamlessly blended into a hazy, warm spiced vanilla. A ginger note contributes to the overall heat factor of the scent, but rather than standing out and becoming a biting presence, it blends itself among the other notes, adding richness, sexiness and warmth. It's a classic for the sensual and the provocative, an ageless scent for the uber-feminine. Just don't let the strong opening put you off, and for the love of all things fragrant, don't use this as a casual scent. You need to be dolled up to wear Classique, it requires perfect hair, a made up face and heels...so it's really best saved for the evenings, special events, or on those days you need an extra boost of confidence. Sillage and longevity is amazing, 10 hours on me and it's the kind of scent that could fill a room, so please spray with caution. I myself prefer using this with a light hand so that the scent gracefully emanates from my warm skin with its erotic creamy-spicy-sweetness (no more than 2-3 sprays on me, and a couple sprays sprayed on my clothes the night before), the last thing I'd want to do is assault the noses of anyone who comes within 10 feet of me. Seriously, when oversprayed, this can actually smell bad! Not only cloying, but bad in the sense that you end up smelling dated, vulgar, obnoxious and fake, like an out-of-work aging actress who piles on too much make up and dresses inappropriately.

Old Hollywood Glamour - I wanted to try this because Im a vintage enthusiast of all things. I was reading an article with Dita Von Teese and she mentioned JPG Classique and that is smelled like MAKEUP. I was SO excited to try this and it does smell like old rouge or powder. It may sound weird but you are instantly reminded of that scent from your Grandmothers cosmetics – in a good way. On me - this is powdery, creamy spicy vanilla fragrance. I dont get any fruitiness or the oranges. Its definitely not for those ladies who prefer light fruity scents and this is best suited for cooler evening weather. I LOVE it but it is a vintage type of smell.

Oh my goodness words cant explain how marvelous this fragrance is. Upon first spritz you get a wonderful fig and cacao fog. It literally makes a fog around you and it is very velvety and dark. It smells like dark, dark chocolate with a very high cacao content. It is beautiful. Kokorico smells like an Eau de Parfum but it's actually and Eau de Toilette. There is cedar, vetyver and patchouli too and the all blend marvelously. I'm surprised this scent did not take off at the counters. It is stupendous. This is the perfect blind buy as i cannot see any fragrance lover not liking this scent. Also, i think Kokorico would work for ladies too. It has feminine qualities. It is strong and long long lasting and projects well so anyone around you will compliment you. The fragrance fills up a room and follows you around like a best friend. It surely is among the most interesting designer fragrances of the last five years or so. The bottle is a work of art too in the shape of a head. This is the absolute perfect gourmand scent for guys. Kokorico has a certain sweetness about it that is delectable. It smells yummy and expensive....like a big, giant chocolate bar. It is an absolute joy to wear. So ladies run to Ebay and get yourself man a bottle of this for him or for yourself. You will be more than glad you did.

This product has changed my life. Before using this I didn't have any friends but as soon as I put on 1 spray of it, boys could not stay away from me and girls wanted to be me. This product's elegant smell takes me away to another day when there was no wars only peace and North Korea was open. I was once a small town girl but this just because of the smell made me famous. I'm bigger than Selena Gomez. People pay to smell me. I can't get enough of this product. I put it in every piece of clothing I wear. I am so proud of this product. How can it be better. I will buy it forever. I will keep buying it. I AM ME. THIS PRODUCT IS ME. I LOVE IT.

JPG's Classique is one of the very few scents where I slightly favor the EDT over the EDP. I reviewed the EDP separately and gave it four stars. Usually, when given a choice, I much prefer the deeper, warmer EDP versions, for the additional ambery notes, and not least because EDPs usually last better on my skin. Not so with Classique. While I also own and like the EDP I got to sample the EDT a while after buying the EDP and side by side I noticed that there is a distinct difference in the overall impression of this perfume. Similar to Chanel No.5 I find the Classique EDT a lot more transparent and bright, but without being thin or fleeting. So the longevity of EDT and EDP is similar on my skin but I prefer the EDT's dry down because its rummy/ambery notes are less pronounced and the vanilla and orange notes are more prominent. Personally, I don't think either of the Classiques is girly, they are fragrances for a confident woman, I'd put them in the same league as Black Orchid, which is another masterpiece. Great choices for going out or on the weekends.

A really sexy perfume, men adore it. I read that Dita Von Teese wears it and it fits her perfectly. I smell roses, rum, vanilla and a bit of some very fancy make up. I love this one.
