This follows grape seed oil as my second cleanser in the PM. It’s gentle yet effective. I have acne prone skin that can become dehydrated if not cared for. This cleanser is perfect for cleansing while maintaining a healthy moisture barrier.

Moisturizers -CeraVe -Facial Moisturizing Lotion - AM SPF 30

I actually quite like this product, but it is definitely finicky so I understand the "meh" rating.

Here's how it works for me:

After washing my face with water in the morning, I use Indeed Labs Vitamin C24 and allow it to sit on my face for about 20-30 minutes while I get ready for my day. In the wintertime, if I need some extra moisture, I will pat a couple drops of rosehip oil on my skin and let that settle in for a few minutes. Then when my skin feels ready, I use two pumps of the CeraVe AM, spread it in my hands and then gently pat all over my face and neck until it's absorbed. Another minute or two to allow this to settle and onto my makeup application.

The main complaints I notice are that this is drying and that it pills. I can definitely see the potential for both which is why I use this over top of a moisturizing serum or oil and when I apply it, I pat it in rather than smoothing or rubbing. I should also note that I don't wear any foundation or concealer, only a light powder to even my skin tone and reduce shine. So I can't make any comment about its performance under makeup.

Overall, I like this product and I think that for the price this is a kick-ass SPF lotion with a kick-ass line up of skin nourishing ingredients. I will continue to purchase and use. I removed 1 lippie due to the aforementioned finicky-ness.

Moisturizers -CeraVe -Facial Moisturizing Lotion - PM

I bought this lotion mostly because of the hyaluronic acid and ceramides. Ceramides are the lipids on the outer layers of your skin while hyaluronic acid retains moisture. I have combination skin with an oily t zone and dry cheeks. I apply it liberally to my face at night in conjunction with the CeraVe Hydrating bar and it pairs beautifully. I do have sensitive skin and rosacea and my skin has not been irritated by it (something that's very important to me). I wake up with my skin looking calm, hydrated and soft. Fragrance-free and perfect for sensitive rosacea skin. However, some people are highly irritated by niacinamides which could lead to stinging and break outs so buy at your own risk. An alternative is Vanicream (cliniderm in Canada) that does not contain niacinamides.

Given the glowing reviews here, I really wanted to love this cleanser, but it broke me out in painful bumps all over my cheeks and jawline. If your skin agrees with it, however, there are many things to love about this product -- it's unscented, lathers beautifully and rinses off without fuss. For me, however, it didn't matter if I used it twice a day or twice a week, the results were always the same.

For those who are interested, I suggest that you visit CeraVe's website for their $2.00 off coupon! Using that, my total for this cleanser was just under $10 USD at my local Target.

amazing cleanser for a thorough clean that doesn't strip the skin, with no fragrance or other irritating ingredients. this stuff is a godsend for oily skin, as it will clean all the dirt/grime/particles of the day off your face without causing your skin to overproduce oil. i use it as the second step in a double cleanse when i wear makeup, and this stuff never leaves any makeup behind.

this cleanser feels so lovely and luxurious when you use it. my skin would even feel softer after i rinsed it off. however, when i try to use it as the second step in my double cleanse, it doesn't remove the makeup that my first cleanse missed. so i would definitely not recommend this product for people who wear makeup or who have oily skin that needs a good wash at the end of the day. this would be a good morning cleanse or be helpful with very sensitive skin. lovely to use but unfortunately it just doesn't clean thoroughly enough.

Lotions/ Creams -CeraVe -Moisturizing Cream

The only moisturizer I've tried that is both super rich and non-greasy. I use it for face and body. It absorbs beautifully after a shower, locks in the moisture, and doesn't cause breakouts.

When I first used this cream, I thought it was pretty blah. It just seemed thick and wasn't as rich/moisturizing as Eucerin's Advanced Repair Lotion, which was my go-to for over 10 years. I'm pretty sure I had a tub sitting around being ignored for close to a year, but then I was watching a dermatologist on youtube who said to apply it to your skin as you're getting out of the shower, while your skin is still wet. When I tried that, it completely changed my life! When everything dries, I am left with the softest skin ever.

It is indeed also great to use dry if you have irritated, itchy, sensitive skin because it will really help repair the skin barrier. For the past 4 months or so, I have been plagued by horrible itchy rashes on my neck. My GP doctor and my dermatologist said it was caused by seasonal allergies/pollen! And it's true that whenever I was having the worst congestion & eye allergy time, my neck would get all itchy, hot and red too. UGH. I started getting paranoid about the amount of hydrocortisone and triamcinalone that I was applying to my neck and how it might be thinning and "aging" the skin there, so several days ago, I started applying the Cerave Moisturizing Cream on my neck pretty much every 2 hours when I had a terrible flareup. It's been 2 days now, and applying this cream repeatedly throughout the day has kept the itchy, red skin at bay.

The only thing that is a bit of a drag about this product is the jar packaging, although I do plan to buy it in the jar with the pump next. At the moment, I use a clean, sanitized medical spatula to transfer several weeks' supply into a squeeze bottle. This way, I have an easy way to dispense the cream when I use it multiple times a day and/or just out of the shower. At the same time, the unused cream in the tub/jar is left undisturbed except for the relatively few times I am resupplying my squeeze bottle.

I would not go a day without this cream. I highly recommend. If you're not impressed applying it on dry skin, try using it on wet/damp skin after bathing.

Cleansers -CeraVe -Psoriasis Cleanser

on 11/10/2017 8:33:00 AM

Disclosure: I don't have psoriasis. I do have cloggy/oily/dehydrated facial skin, and am prone to KP. I saw this newest Cerave cleanser in my local DS and thought it might be a less drying alternative to Cerave's Skin Renewing cleanser, which is good, but a little too drying for my face for everyday use. This is a clear, fragrance-free, medium-foaming liquid in a handy bright blue pump bottle. Like the renewing cleanser, it contains BHA (2%). However, it also contains a bunch of other ings not found in the Renewing cleanser, such as a shea butter derivative. My skin was very dehydrated when I 1st tried this, so I was very happy at how moisturized and smooth it felt after the 1st use, w/ pretty much all my fine dehydration lines plumped out. Very nice. I also used on KP prone areas of my body in the shower. However, on the 2nd day, my face felt somewhat greasy/filmy. By day 3, my face felt quite oily/filmy and started to itch. My body skin, though, loved it - moisturized yet exfoliated. By day 4 of daily use, however, my face was very greasy, and was clogging and starting to break out. I had to start a round of 2.5% BP to treat the outbreak. Too bad, it seems either this is too rich for my super oily/dehydrated face, or something in it irritates my face. It may be the shea butter derivative, I don't know. So, this stuff does not work for my oily face, but works very well for my dry/KP prone body areas. I cannot use this on oily body areas such as ears/chest/upper back, but anywhere else is fine. I will continue to use on body KP, but it's a no-go for face and oily areas. People with dry cloggy skin and who can tolerate shea butter would probably love this stuff. Oh, and yes, of course, those w/ the intended target skin condition, psoriasis, might really like it!

Gels/Soaps -CeraVe -CeraVe Hydrating Body Wash

I bought this because I love Cerave's Hydrating Facial Cleanser, and my skin has been dry and itchy. I find it frustrating to use because I pour a big blob worth about 2 tablespoons of this stuff onto my shower pouf, and it completely dissipates before I have "lathered" the top half of my body. I am forced to pour out another big glob onto the pouf and finish lathering up. It's just a huge waste of product and it's not cheap either. The positives: it has no scent and it is not drying. The negatives: it barely lathers before it rinses and you have to keep pouring out more product to clean your body from neck down to toes. My skin still has red irritated-looking areas on my arms after I finish showering, despite using barely warm water and my skin is still itchy. I guess I'll finish using this but I won't buy it again.

I have extremely oily, sensitive, breakout-prone skin, and I am now on my 2nd year of full prescription-strength tretinoin gel (.1% of Retin A Micro). I discovered this cleanser about 7 years ago when my mom had laser treatment on her face to remove dark spots and her doctor told her to use this cleanser. I had been sent to buy it for her and I got one for me too. I discovered it was great for my oily skin too.

This is a great cleanser for:
- AM cleansing -- I wet my face with warm water, then massage this around my face with my fingers for 20 - 30 seconds.
- PM 2nd cleanser -- I remove my makeup with Neutrogena makeup remover wipe or another cleanser (see below), rinse it off, then I do a 2nd cleanse with this, massaging it around my face for 20 - 30 seconds.
- 1st step makeup remover, believe it or not, massaged into makeup without water, it works great! I wear hardcore waterproof mascara and this stuff actually loosens it up when not diluted with water. I splash with water once, then massage that around for a while too, then rinse off. And then I might remove whatever is left of my mascara, with oil-based waterproof eye makeup remover, then I follow with a second cleanse with this Cerave.

For 10 years or so, I had used the Alpha Hydrox Foaming Facial Cleanser both AM and PM, so I wasn't used to a non-foaming cleanser, even if I was totally impressed with it. So after I finished my first bottle of the Hydrating Cleanser, I tried the Cerave Foaming Cleanser and I found it to be too harsh for me, or something, because my skin did not react well to it. So I exchanged it for the Hydrating. For hot humid summers, I always keep around a bottle or tube of my favorite foaming cleanser just in case, so I currently have the Hada Labo Tokyo Hydrating Facial Cleanser for that. It's supposed to be very mild, but it is definitely less gentle and more stripping than the Cerave.

If you research this product, you will see that it does have a lot of skin-beneficial ingredients like ceramides, and many dermatologists recommend it. I honestly think it has a better formulation than the so-called cosmeceutical or high end brands, but with a much lower price tag and obviously less glam packaging, which is pretty much all about function with its pump and plain label. Until this year, Cerave was owned by Valeant which is a real pharmaceutical company that produces prescription medication like Retin A Micro (the superior microspheres gel formulation of the old Retin A cream). Hopefully L'Oreal which purchased Cerave will not mess with the formula.

This will be short because it's basically a save your money review. This does not irritate my skin, has no scent, rinses off easily, isn't particularly drying BUT it does not remove make up, not even tinted moisturizer unless you use a wash cloth. I can wash my face with it, then take a white wash cloth afterwards and there is foundation or tinted moisturizer all over it. I would not repurchase it. I really found my HG cleanser(Philosophy Purity Made Simple), I don't even know why I try other ones.

I previously purchased the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser but found that it stung around my mouth area. This is known as a 'Wash & Shampoo' product but when I used it on my face, it left my skin feeling balanced. I would definitely recommend this product if you enjoy a foaming consistency but find most foaming cleansers too drying. If it's safe for babies, it's safe for adults!
