Cleansers -Malin+Goetz -Grapefruit Face Cleanser

on 10/16/2018 6:08:00 PM

This is my first review ever, but I really want to warn people out there. Please read this before buying it!

If you're considering buying this product: DO NOT DO IT! As so many others before me has written, this product made my skin so irritated. I used it one night before bed, and it felt so good at first (clean and fresh). When I woke up the next morning, I felt that my face was hot. I looked in the mirror and got really scared. My face was red, itchy, burning and swollen. I had hundreds of little "bumps" all over, and it only got worse as the hours went by. The next morning it was even worse, so I had to go see my doctor. She told me that it didn't look like a allergic reaction (I don't remember what she said it was), and that just proves that some of the stuff in this cleanser should not be in there. My doctor prescribed a hydrocortisone cream for me, which helped after a few days.

My skin has never reacted like this before to ANY other products. I do not understand how they are still selling this sh*t when so many have had a bad reaction to it?

If you've had the same reaction as me (or similar), I encourage you to write the company an e-mail explaining your reaction. I have done it, and maybe (if they get enough mails) they'll take it of the marked so people doesn't have to go through so much pain as we have because of this product.

If i could give this product zero lipsticks (or stars), I would.

Fragrances -Malin+Goetz -Dark Rum

on 7/7/2018 4:12:00 PM

again, i have to save the makeupalley community from a perfume that should have been amazing and really isn't at all...dark rum edp smells like a cross between a dark, sexy, boozy, leathery concoction and a dryer sheet - except the scent of the dryer sheet will last longer.

for about $20 you can find a bottle of the old-fashioned bay rum spray and you will enjoy it so much more.

Deodorants -Malin+Goetz -Eucalyptus Deodorant

I snatched it as a mini version (I was a bit hesitant to try the big version at first as it is quite pricy at £19 - the mini was £12 for almost 30g/1oz. - why these natural deodorants are sooooo pricy?!) and I'm very happy with my spontaneous purchase.

I've been using natural deodorants for the last 2-3 years (a British natural brand Aurelia's one is my favourite but it still £18 for a tiny jar!) and this one is a good example of a natural deodorant done well. It comes in a clear solid stick in a convenient packaging (no scooping with fingers, no spillage, easy to travel), prevents my pits from smelling bad throughout the day (I reapply after exercise, let's be realistic here) and most importantly this deodorant does NOT stain clothes! It smells fresh and optimistic with eucalyptus and even a mini size is quite generous - it lasted me a good while. I think the big stick was with me for 6+ months at least with an everyday use!

A transition into 'natural' way of minimising BO is a tough one, you WILL smell until your body adjusts. Also a diet and genes are big factors here. I'm almost a vegan and my BO is naturally inoffensive and I simply don't sweat much (living in a cold climate helps too I guess) so at the end of my day with this deodorant I don't smell ANYTHING either from my armpits nor from my clothes.

Baking soda used in most 'natural' deodorants can cause a skin reaction so this product is a great alternative. Schmidt's who pioneered these deodorants was good (and is a very good indeed AND cheap option) but stained my clothes badly so I will not be buying it any more. I've used up 3 jars of Aurelia's one (and one lasts me up to 4 months!) and I was worried that I might have to keep on buying that one in particular but I now have this one and I'm very happy.

A definite repurchase.

Masks -Malin+Goetz -Clarifying Clay Mask

on 3/5/2018 3:37:00 AM

This feels cheap, its has harsh granules that scratched. It doesn't dry so remains flexible which is both a plus and a negative. I did not enjoy the feel of this since I don't feel like it got everything out. If you after something high end, I recommend the Le Labo charcoal face mask, its highly effective. The detox face mask by M&G is great, it hydrates and refines and I recommend that over this. There is no fragrance, pls try before you buy.

Lip Treatments -Malin+Goetz -Lip Moisturizer

on 1/11/2018 9:05:00 PM

My lips hate this lip moisturizer. It’s thick and shiny, like a clear lip gloss. At first it feels nice going on. But every time I use it my lips end up getting really chapped within a few hours. Even if I put on a thick layer that should be enough to protect against dry air, it feels like the product itself is pulling moisture out of my lips. I’ve been getting dry flakes while my lips are completely coated in this stuff. I think there’s no way to make this work for me so I’m throwing it away.

Deodorants -Malin+Goetz -Eucalyptus Deodorant

on 12/10/2017 4:47:00 AM

I decided to stop using aluminium- and alcohol-bearing deodorants this year. It was a struggle at first, as many were good- going by the ingredient list, but not quite good on the performance front. Not to mention, the more ‘natural’ ones tend to be more expensive. I then came along M+G and was happily surprised.

- Minty smell, that is hardly perceptible when applied. I don’t like heavily fragranced deodorants that overpower my perfume spray
- Effective protection. I wear this everyday and keep my armpits protected throughout my 9-5 working day. I admit I would not wear it to the gym, for example. Having said that this works very well for regular days, aluminium- and alcohol- containing deodorants are still more reliable for antiperspiration.
- Practical. It’s easy to apply and a tube lasts a long time. Hence, even though pricey, it makes up for it in terms of how long a tube will last.

- Price, sadly still more expensive than the average deodorant on the market
- Effective compared to other natural deodorants, but not quite effective as alcohol/aluminium based deodorants.

I will definitely purchase again. In fact, I already have! I have two backups now, though will not need them for a while as it takes a while to use up a tube.

Highly recommended for those preferring a more natural deodorant.

Deodorants -Malin+Goetz -Eucalyptus Deodorant

on 11/23/2017 2:46:00 PM

I completely agree with the other reviewer. I had seen nothing but good reviews for this before I bought it, and having now used it I can't understand why it's so raved about. My experience is very similar to the previous reviewer's. I don't sweat much and haven't felt sticky or sweaty at all while using it, but I don't smell good! It's not a strong bad smell (like I experienced with Lush's The Greench deodorant powder) but it's unpleasant. I have tried other aluminium-free deodorants successfully (Dr Hauschka Sage & Mint worked for me but took an inconveniently long time to dry) so I don't think the problem is that it's a natural deodorant. Just so annoyed that I fell for the hype and spent £18 on this.

Moisturizers -Malin+Goetz -Vitamin E Face Moisturizer

This is a very basic moisturiser, I can't understand why it's so expensive. I think it broke me out as well. I'll finish off this bottle as a hand cream and won't be re-purchasing.

Scrubs -Malin+Goetz -Face Scrub

Pretty quality scrub, feels good on skin and helped remove my peeling skin from the dry weather and my skin looks like theres lesser whiteheads after use. Does not cause any sensitive reaction

Lotions/ Creams -Malin+Goetz -Vitamin b5 Body Moisturizer

on 5/3/2017 12:57:00 PM

This is pretty average. Absorbs well but isn't massively hydrating. Fresh, clean scent that doesn't linger. It's fine for summer/spring air but wouldn't be sufficient in dryer months. I would use if I got a sample or if it came in a kit with other M+G products (which I think is how I got this in the first place) but the product is to average to justify the full price on its own.

Candles -Malin+Goetz -Otto Candle

on 4/7/2017 11:55:00 PM

Finally! I've been searching for a Spring/Summer appropriate scent, specifically with a grapefruit note. Jo Malone was ok, but didn't cut it.
Within 10 minutes of lighting Otto, I could smell the delicious fragrance from across the room.

The top note of grapefruit was the first I detected, followed by rose shortly thereafter. It's not cloying or too sweet, nor too floral. The balance between citrus and floral is rather refined and makes for the perfect warm-weather candle.

Treatments (Face) -Malin+Goetz -Resurfacing Glycolic Pads

on 12/6/2016 2:31:00 PM

This is my favourite glycolic treatment. I've used this for a few years and, even though I buy other treatments, I always come back to this and always have a jar on my beauty table, just in case. It makes my skin smooth and my pores disappear. I don't use it every day, as it would be too harsh for that, but I use twice a week in the evening and leave on.
It's the only product that truly makes my skin glow. I'll always repurchase.

Masks -Malin+Goetz -Detox Face Mask

on 10/23/2016 11:52:00 AM

Used this as a tester. Skin definitely felt softer, tighter and the tingling sensation as the mask oxidises is surely enjoyable. However for detoxing, not sure the mask did a good job. The difficulty of getting the product and the price might not be worth it for the benefits

Cleansers -Malin+Goetz -Grapefruit Face Cleanser

on 10/7/2016 6:20:00 PM

Wow, this is the most DRYING face wash I have EVER come across!!! I used it twice and my whole face is dry, red, covered in small bumps and peeling like crazy!! I mean, my EYELIDS are peeling! I cannot put any cream on as my skin stings and hurts! Honestly, it feels like I just had a chemical peel gone wrong. definitely not for every skin type as it says on the packaging and definitely not moisturising either. No matter what you do, DO NOT use on your eyes. Actually, stay away all together just to be on the safe side.

Deodorants -Malin+Goetz -Eucalyptus Deodorant

on 9/30/2016 8:20:00 AM

As this super-hyped deodorant isn't listed here yet, I have to add a review for this. Why? Because I'm really angry. This deodorant is hyped over the moon on certain websites and as I was looking for a deodoant without aluminium, and people were obviously raving about it, I bought it - for about $30. And my expectations were high after many people said this was the best alu-free deodorant they have ever tried etc.

First off the one really good thing: the smell. This deodorant smells heavenly fresh like eucalyptus, absolutely wonderful - as long as it is in the box!

Now for the bad: it does not work - at all! I mean absolutely not.Or well, it does work, but in the opposite direction even. I don't sweat much and also don't have much BO and when I tried this I applied it in the morning after a shower, and I spent the morning sitting at my desk working - I did nothing exhausting what so ever, all I did was typing and sitting on my behind, and that on a cloudy, rather cool day.

What happend is the following: After only 6 hours, early afternoon, I started noticing a very unpleasant smell coming from my armpits, I mean really unpleasant. And I didn't sweat or anything, this just happend while I was sitting calmly at my desk. So, this deodorant turned on my skin if you want, even without sweat, and it started stinking awfully! So, no idea where those raving reviews on many sites come from, but this is for sure the worst (and most overpriced) deodorant I ever tried. And the worst without alu I ever tried as well. I really regret spending absurd $30 on this. I can certainly not recommend this.
