Cleansers -La Roche-Posay -Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser

I didn't like this one when I first bought it .it wasn't able to remove my eye makeup easily and whenever I was not in the mood of using a face wash and wanted to wash my face just with water after removing my makeup, there was this creamy film left on my skin that was difficult to wash with plain water.but gradually I learned how to make best of it and now I love it
I use an oil based eye makeup remover,or my Bioderma Sensibio H2O to remove water proof or difficult-to-remove mascara and eyeliners and longlasting, stubborn lipsticks, then use this one to cleanse residues.oil based makeup removers usually cause milia under my eyes or just feel oily and bad,and my micellar water make my eye round skin dry,but when I use Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser afterwards it releaves me from those oily or dry films.it's able to easily remove non waterproof eyemakeup on it's own
For removing face makeup,as others have mentioned,I rub some of it on my face, then use a cotton pad or slightly damp microfiber cloth to clean up makeup, this way it's able to remove foundation, blush, etc effortlessly and without much waste
Whenever I use this,I either wash my face with a face wash(La Roche Posay Lipikar Lavante Gel) or I don't wash my skin at all.leaving it unwashed doesn't cause ance or clogged pores and my skin feels so smooth without feeling greasy or heavy that I can skip moisturizer even though I have dry skin type.washing my face more than once a day irritates my skin, when I wakeup in morning,I spray some Thermal Water or Caudali's Grape Water on my face, then rub Toleriane Dermo Cleanser and use cotton pad to clean up my skin.this way,I don't need to wash my face in morning, and as mentioned before I usually even don't need to put on moisturizer so I can save my face wash and moisturizes for evening or night
It's also scentless and doesn't cause any irritation or redness and doesn't sting eyes.another thing I like about it is that unlike most other LRP products I can see the amount of product left in the bottle.the only thing that I liked to change about it was I'd like to put a pump on it and I wish it was able to remove waterproof makeup too
I bought a 200 mil for 12$ and I believe it's going to last long.I'm definitely going to repurchase

Moisturizers -La Roche-Posay -Toleriane Ultra Fluide

I bought this in the depths of the very cold winter when my face had flaky and red patches that I couldn't seem to keep moisturized and heal. I paid $29.99, which would have been totally worth it to me if it had done what I needed it to do. However, it did not. This is not a bad moisturizer and didn't cause me any breakouts or clogged pores. However, a few hours after applying my flaky patches were flaky again every time. It didn't cause any irritation around my eyes, so I may be able to use this as a backup eye cream or possibly a summer face/neck moisturizer. However, even though I have liked most of the LRP products I have tried I don't think I would buy this one again.

Moisturizers -La Roche-Posay -Hydraphase Intense Riche Hyaluronic Acid Cream

I love the short list of ingredients in this effective, lightweight moisturizer. It's unscented, which I prefer (I love perfume, but not on my face). The pump bottle keeps the product clean and fresh. It's not quite moisturizing enough in mid-winter when the heat is blasting and the air is super dry. But in warmer months it's perfect. I found that it's not suitable for my eye area, as it burns a little and really stings if it gets in my eyes. But otherwise, it's a nicely simple moisturizer that doesn't make me break out. I would say it's comparable to CeraVe Moisturizing Cream but has simpler ingredients and is a little richer/creamier. I can feel the shea butter in the La Roche-Posay cream, which my skin loves.

Moisturizers -La Roche-Posay -Toleriane Ultra Fluide

This product comes in a new packaging which is slightly different with the old one.I uploaded it's picture. It's written Ultra-Fluid on it but the ingredients are the same as the ones listed here

Claims:
In LRP website they claim that Toletiane Ultra-Fluid is a suitable daily moisturizer even for people with very sensitive and alergic skin .it's non-comedogenic,fragrance and alcohol free, can immediately soothe skin and relieve pain, sting, heating sensation and tightness and has a long lasting comforting effect.it reduces skin's sensitivity day by day, also has a long lasting moisturizing effect upto 24 hours AND it can be used as eye contour too

About me:
I'm 28. My skin type is normal but I suffer from Eczema relapse regularly.I mean that I have normal skin but suddenly my Eczema starts and my skin changes to superdry, flakey, red and itchy.my skin is also prone to very tiny pimples, sometimes blackheads, sometimes whiteheads.recently I've been experiencing one of those Eczema periods.I bought LRP Lipikar Baume AP+ and LRP Lipikar Lavant Gel as a face wash.I was so satisfied with them that decided to continue trying other products from this brand.Lipikar Baume is perfect for my dry skin but it says in LRP website that it should be used just once a day.I needed something lighter that I can use as my day moisturizer to keep the Baume for nights.I also needed a hydrating eye cream so decided to give a try to Toleriane Ultra Fluid which seems to be exactly what I need and can be used as eye cream too

Review:
I bought it 17$ ,not cheap as it's just 40mils but keep in mind that it can work as an eye cream too so I can save the budget I had to pay to buy an eye cream.it comes in a white pump bottle which is simple yet looks expensive and professional. It has a new method of lock to protect the contents from pollution and air and seems to be very travel friendly.each time I press it's pump it lets tiny amounts of the fluid out so there's no waste.all in all I love it's packaging and it's only CON is that I can't see the amount of product inside the pump bottle
It's totally scentless,a white oil free fluid that spreads easily on skin.it feels so good to put it on skin and around eyes.it doesn't sting and irritate my eyes or skin.I never had such an amazing moisturizer that feels so light and absorbs quickly, also hydrates so well.I didn't feel like I have anything I my skin but my skin was as smooth as baby skin and radiant and healthy looking.I haven't tried it as a makeup base but when I do that I will edit to add the results
My skin reacts immediately when it doesn't like a product.Toleriane Ultra Fluid didn't cause any breakouts, clogged pores or redness after one week and I'm pretty sure my skin loves it.but it's not as perfect as what I first thougt.my skin feels amazing until about 6 hours,so soft and healthy, but after that all of it's effects vanish.pooof.my skin was tight and dry again and there was a few flakes on my upper lids.Lipikar Baume isn't like this, that one seems to cure skin so that my face isn't dry even after a day.I will give Toleriane Ultra Fluid 4 lippies instead of 5,because it's claim about 24hours of hydration wasn't true.albeit it may be hydrating enough if your skin isn't as dry as mine.
I'm going to use it once a day and use Lipikar Baume and my other eye cream at nights.
I think I'm going to run out of this fluid quickly as I need more than 7 pumps to cover my whole face and eye area(I use another moisturizer for my neck,a much cheaper one),still I think I'm going to repurchase it.I think it can be pure perfection and a HG when my Eczema leaves me

Cleansers -La Roche-Posay -Lipikar Gel Lavant Soothing Protecting Shower Gel

Recently I bought three products from La Roche Posay and loved them all so decided to buy a face wash from this brand.my HG cleanser was Yves Rocher Nutritive Ultra Rich Velvet face wash before this and it was very good.but recently I'm going through eczema and my beloved Yves Rocher face wash doesn't feel as good as always.it's still better than most cleansers out there but my skin feels a bit dry and tight after using it..choosing a good face wash is very important for me because a harsh one one can make my skin very red, itchy, dry and flakey, and if my face wash doesn't cleanse well, all the thick moisturizers I use for my Eczema clog my pores and cause acne and pimples
I wanted to try a creamy or oil face wash this time but here the only available options from LRP are two types of Effeclar cleansers,Physiologic Micellar Foaming Gel and this one so I chose this one as it seemed a better option for my dry skin(I wished I could buy Lipikar Syndet but it's not available here )
This product has no reviews in Makeupalley and this made me skeptical about it.I thought it's not good enough to be popular but actually it's great.I guess it's not well known as much as Lipikar Syndet because "Shower Gel" is a part of it's name so no one sees as a face wash but I googled about it and checked LRP website and it's written there that Lipikar Gel Lavant Soothing Protecting Shower Gel can be used for body AND FACE ,for adults and children, even babies, they claim that it doesn't sting eyes and can be used to wash babies scalps also genital areas of children and adults.it also says that it's suitable even for very sensitive skins,is Paraben-free,soap free and has physiological PH
I bought a 400mil for 12$ and it comes in a dispenser packaging .it's good that it's not opaque like most LRP bottles and I can see the amount of the product inside it but I wish it had a pump.it has fragrance but it's pleasant and not too strong and I really like how it smells(I have an almost sensitive skin but it has never had allergies to fragrances in skincare products).it's fresh scent reminds me of crisp green apples
I never use face washes to remove my makeup.I use a micellar water(usually Bioderma Sensibio H2O)or LRP Toleriane Dermo Cleanser and cotton pads to remove my makeup, then wash my face so I can't comment on it's ability in removing makeup but it seems to be a good cleanser as I use very thick layers of rich creams(for instance Lipikar Baume AP+)during the day and this face wash managed to completely remove them.I also don't use face washes to wash my eye.I use Eyesol Gel which is specifically formulated for that purpose but tried this Lipikar Lavant Gel once on my eyes so that I could review it and it didn't sting my eyes.
I loved using it.it goes smoothly on wet skin and lathers a bit(not a thick foam with lots of bubbles),I massage it gently on my skin for a minute then rinse it.it's the only face wash I have used that doesn't leave my skin with slightest amount of tightness and I even feel that stretch and tightness when I use only water to wash my face.my skin is completely clean and refreshed, also very smooth after using it.and the good point is: it doesn't leave any oily or tacky film on my skin and manages to soften my skin without that oily or sticky residues!
My skin was always red after washing it but not now.there was also no break outs or irritations.today when I came out of bathroom and was drying my face with towel,my husband said that your looks like baby skin after washing, softer and brighter.I can also see that the tiny pimples I had on my forehead and chin are fading away
I haven't tried it as a body wash or genital wash yet.I may try once but I consider it as my face wash and I think if I use it as a face wash,it's going to last for ages
I'm very glad to discover this brand

Sunscreen -La Roche-Posay -Anthelios XL 50+ Anti-Shine Tinted Dry Touch Gel Creme

The color of this is pretty bad. I have light warm yellow-olive skin, NC20 in MAC. I somehow didn't notice that this was tinted before I came home and went to apply it. This is not "tinted" - this is colored! It has a heavier coverage than many of my foundations. Maybe that would be OK if the color suited me, but this has one single shade, and it is orange and about 2-3 shades too dark for me. I tan orange, but I'm pretty sure that even on my tannest days this would still be way too orange. Whoever says this leaves a "white cast" are clearly reviewing a different product - maybe there's a non-tinted version of this in a similar tube.

Just like we can't use foundation as sunscreen and get the advertized SPF (because we would need to use so much that it wouldn't look good), this cannot be applied in appropriate amounts without looking like a heavy orange foundation. How would you be able to apply 2-3 pumps of this and not look ridiculous? That is what ruins this for me, even though I like that this didn't break out my sensitive skin, and has no fragrance, and doesn't sting my eyes. I can't wear this because of the color - I then need to find a VERY white sunscreen to mix this with

When I ran out ot my holy grail cleanser and didn't find any online reasonable deals for that cleanser, I decided to bought this. At first, I bought share in jars (the seller actually put this in small flip cap bottle) to test if my skin like this cleanser or not. It turns out that I didn't have breakouts when using it, so I purchase full 200ml tube.

My skin is dehydrated oily & fungal acne prone. Here's what I experienced so far:
Pros:
- pretty hygienic, comes in a tube.
- not drying my skin but feels clean
- not much difference from my holy grail cleanser

Cons:
- added fragrance which I don't like
- if I'm not mistaken, it has no zinc..? my skin likes zinc

Routines:
- effaclar gel cleanser
- hatomugi toner or effaclar toner (only twice a week at night)
- propolis serum (day) & niacinamide serum (night)
- nadifloxacin cream (topical acne treatment. If only I have acne/s)
- gel moisturizer (day) or my baby's sebamed face cream

This became my favorite cleanser from the get go. I ended up getting it upon discovering the brand at my local cvs. I have sensitive-combination skin: Dry sensitive everywhere but prone to blackheads on nose. I don’t use extensive makeup because I kind of don’t have to but I do use sunscreen and will occasionally do a heavier makeup look for a party or something. I use this mainly as my second cleanser following my cleansing oil. I always use an oil blend to remove my sunscreen and lip makeup. This does it well without leaving a single bit of residue. My skin has improved so much since using it. It is calmer and brighter. I haven’t done a pH test on it yet but I think it might be a very balanced pH. My skin honestly feels soothes and fresh and the product feels so luxurious. I sometimes use it as body wash and I’m truly in love with it. Highly recommend it. Thanks to this introduction to LRP I will test the other cleansers in the line but will always be buying this one.

This sunscreen was not good.

Pros:
Cheap. $20 is pretty darn good compared to the $40 sunscreens at Sephora.
Great sun protection (if u put the right large amount), only got one sunburn with this out of the 20 times iv'e used it. The one time was because I used very little.

Cons:
TERRIBLE white cast/residue
Caused bad acne
Very drying (must be mixed in with a moisturizer)

Lotions/ Creams -La Roche-Posay -Lipikar Baum (Balm) AP

It's been just 10 days that I'm using this product but I think it's the time to write a review and say:this is a miracle product!
Let's first talk about my skin problem.I used to have superdry and flakey skin,so much that I couldn't wear any foundation,or even BB cream.I started to look after my skin more and my problem was solved after a year of religiously using skincare products even my skin type changed to normal.last month I decided to try Nivea Soft moisturizing cream even though I had a trusted moisturizer that worked for me perfectly(Yves Rocher Hydra Végétal 24 H),after just two times of using Nivea Soft my skin broke out badly.I used acne treatment and a face wash that contained salicylic acid just twice and that was enough to make my Atopic Eczema come back! acnes were healing by themselve but my skin's Eczema was worsening.it was as dry as sandpaper, red, itchy, flakey and stinged.I couldn't use foundation again.none of my moisturizing products worked, even the ones that seemed to be very effective in past.I used homemade masks(honey+rice flour+whipped cream+turmeric+cinnamon) but they left my skin even more red and sensitive.I bought whatever any one suggested me but they could only keep my skin moisturized for an hour or two and couldn't help with itch and redness.I couldn't believe my beautiful, glowy, clear, normal skin has transformed to such a superdry, flakey, red mess with numerous acne scars.it was almost causing a depression.but my husband encouraged me to search more.there must be something effective
I knew nothing about La Roche Posay until I read about it in a forum, someone said this brand has good products for sensitive skin.I started to search in my trusted MUA and read reviews of it's products and finally decided that Lipikar Baume AP seems to be the right one for me and I ordered a 400 mil which was priced 16$ in a discount(I also ordered Toleriane Derm Cleanser which I thought is a face wash by mistake, but that's another review's story)
when I first applied Lipikar Baume I was very hesitant to continue using it.it was very rich, felt heavy and looked greasy on my skin for hours.I thought it may worsen my Acne or cause a new breakout and thought it must be just good for body.I checked LRP website to see if it's only a body product and saw that it's also for face
I stopped using my other skincare products such as toner and serum.just washed my skin once a day with Yves Rocher Nutritive Rich Gel and applied Lipikar Baum three times a day even though it's written in it's site that use it once a day.I had to even stop using my favorite eye cream(Oriflame Even Out Eye Cream),I love that eye treatment and had used three tubes of it without any problem but now my eyelids were also suffering from Eczema and it made them sting.I had no choice but to put Lipikar Baum on my upper lid which was so dry and flakey and above my cheekbone close to my eye which had itchy dry patches.I was sure it's going to cause milia but I did anything to relieve from Eczema
Results after 10 days:
My skin isn't itchy, stingy and flakey anymore(I had to use 7th Heaven Strawberry Cream face mask once to remove all that flakes, but other than that Lipikar Baume and my face wash were the only thing I used in the past 10 days),it didn't cause any breakouts,my acne is completely gone and there's no acne scar left.I feel even my old acne scars have faded!
I feel a little tightness after washing my face but it immediately goes away after using the Baume.there's still a hint of redness on my cheeks but it's very mild and is more like a soft pink flush.my skin isn't superdry anymore,it's like normal-slightly dry even when I don't use Lipikar Baume.all in all my skin looks young and healthy again.I haven't tried wearing makeup yet but I guess I can wear foundations without any problems.it also didn't cause any milia or any irritations to my eye area.the Eczema of my lids is completely cured and I think I can start using normal eye products.call me crazy but I feel my eyebrows are fuller now(yes,I had to use it even on my eyebrows!).Lipikar Baume AP was a life saver for me and I owe it to you dear MUA members
About the packaging I like that it's a pump but I don't like that I can't see the amount of product inside it.it's pump can be locked by twisting it so I can call it travel friendly but I wish there was a something to cover the hole that product comes out of it,so it wouldn't be in contact with air(like the one that Bioderma Atoderm Creme has)
another plus is that it's scentless

I love this product and I'm going to continue using it,still I think 400mil is a lot to finish in 6 months so I wish it's shelf life wasn't that short.now I want to order some other La Roche Posay products, probably Lipikar Face Wash Gel(unfortunately Lipikar Syndet isn't available here),Toleriane Ultra Fluid which I can also use as eye contour or Lipikar Fluid

I have combination skin and this cleanser has restored the hydration without congesting my blackhead-prone T-zone. My skin is super soft after use and removes my mascara well without any irritation! Yet to use it on a full coverage makeup but I would suspect it would need a double cleanse.

Best hand cream I ever tried - no contest. For the price and effectiveness, it is truly worth its value. Sinks in quick and easy, non-greasy, no overpowering scent, and the moisturizing effect is phenomenal. A lot of hand creams have given me some form of itchiness or rash, but never this one. 10/10

Sunscreen -La Roche-Posay -Anthelios Shaka Fluid (Sans Parfum) SPF50+ PPD 46

on 4/1/2019 2:44:00 PM

foto

La Roche-Posay (LRP) has reformulated and renamed their cult Anthelios Ultra-Light Fluid (ULF) with an SPF rating of 50+ and a PPD of 42. It is now known as the Anthelios Shaka Fluid with the same SPF rating and an increased PPD of 46. The ULF has been discontinued as of 2019.

This is a major reformulation with several formulatory changes. There were 34 ingredients in the now-discontinued ULF, and there are 22 in the Shaka. The company claims that the Shaka is lighter in consistency, is completely invisible, and will not sting if used around the eyes and on the eyelids. The company further claims that the coverage is more even, that the new formulation is more resistant to water, and that it is also reef-safe.

Let us first discuss the changes to the sunscreening agents. The previous iteration, the ULF, contained 6 'chemical' (colloquial term) or organic (scientific term) filters: Avobenzone, Octocrylene, Mexoryl XL, Uvinul T 150, Tinosorb S and Mexoryl SX.

The new iteration, the Shaka, contains 6 chemical filters as well: Octisalate, Uvinul T 150, Tinosorb S Lite Aqua, Avobenzone, Mexoryl XL, and Mexoryl SX.

Octocrylene has been dropped from the formulation and replaced with Octisalate. Everything else (with the exception of Tinosorb S) remains exactly the same, just present in different concentrations. As for Tinosorb S, it is still there, albeit in the form of Tinosorb S Lite Aqua (INCI: Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine and Acrylates/C12-22 Alkyl Methacrylate Copolymer; LRP uses C12-22 Alkyl Acrylate/Hydroxyethylacrylate Copolymer instead). For the uninitiated, there are three versions of Tinosorb S: Tinosorb S (oil-soluble), Tinosorb S Aqua (water-soluble), and Tinosorb S Lite Aqua (water-soluble). What happens in the case of the latter two is that the oil-soluble Tinosorb S gets encapsulated in microscopic polymers that allow for the ingredient to get added into the water phase, resulting in a less greasy feel.

The other formulatory changes are listed below:

1. Corn Starch has been dropped as an absorbing agent. In the ULF, corn starch was the culprit that was responsible for the white streaks that some reviewers complained about. Because this has been excluded from the Shaka, there are no white streaks whatsoever. It is well and truly invisible as the claim on the bottle states.

2. All silicones have been removed. The silicones gave the ULF a slippery feeling, and was responsible for the pilling some reviewers reported. The Shaka Fluid feels like water in comparison; there are no silicones whatsoever in the Shaka.

3. Tocopherol, or Vitamin E, is much higher up on the ingredients list in the Shaka.

4. Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides have been added to the Shaka.

5. Propanediol, a penetration enhancer, has been added to the Shaka.

6. Isononyl Isononanoate in the ULF has been replaced with Isopropyl Myristate in the Shaka. These are emollients and texture enhancers that give the product its cosmetic elegance. Anecdotal evidence suggests that this is a supposedly comedogenic ingredient, but according to the ingredient directory on Paula's Choice (quoted verbatim): "...this assessment comes from dated research that doesn’t apply to how this ingredient is used in today’s cosmetics." Make of it what you will. This formulation marks the first time I'm using Isopropyl Myristate on my face, so I cannot speak to its supposed comedogenity, and I don't think I'll be able to because I regularly exfoliate and use Retin-A (so my skin turns over before it can get clogged), but if you are sure that this is a problem ingredient for you, perhaps you should steer clear of this sunscreen.

7. Phenoxyethanol, a preservative, has been removed.

8. Ethanol (Alcohol Denat). was the third ingredient in the ULF; it is now the second ingredient in the Shaka.

9. Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, a gelling agent primarily present in the cell walls of plants, has been added to the Shaka.

Final verdict:

The Shaka Fluid is a vastly superior formulation. LRP has truly outdone itself. The ULF was spectacular in its own right, but it was disagreeable with some because of its heavy silicone content and the corn starch. The Shaka is far more watery in consistency, sinks in quicker (so quickly that you'll find yourself pouring more of it out of the bottle), is perfectly tolerable around the eyes without any stinging or tearing, leaves no white streaks, does not ball up, and leaves a satiny, demi-matte finish that is never oily or greasy. That a sunscreen that is so light in consistency can offer remarkable protection from UVA (PPD 46) is frankly unbelievable.

In my MakeupAlley review of the now-discontinued ULF, I advised people to pat the ULF on because the high silicone content left it susceptible to balling up if rubbed around. This advice can now be discarded. You can smear the Shaka all over your face like it's water.

I will end this review by quoting an excerpt from my MakeupAlley review of the now-discontinued ULF. I find that every word of it holds true for the new Shaka Fluid: "This is the best facial sunscreen in the world from 1) a cosmetological standpoint, 2) and in terms of efficacy. There is no American, Asian, or European facial sunscreen that can beat this one if you’re looking for the highest UVA protection possible, but with the cosmetic elegance of a relatively low-protectant sunscreen. This is the unbeaten Godzilla of facial sunscreens. There is a reason why this is a cult product. This sunscreen, if you use it right, will freeze your face and stop the ravages of time. Hyperbole, of course, but you get the idea."
