Primer/ Corrector -CLARINS -Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch

Like Monistat chafing gel and numerous primers, this has silica powder suspended in a silicone base. It mattifies skin slightly, which "blurs" pored and wrinkles - just like how shiny highlighters make them look worse - without feeling as drying as most powders, or having a white cast or tint (on my super pale skin anyway).
- It's in no way a moisturizer or other skin treatment, unless you think your skin benefits greatly from said silicones with a little vegetable shortening added + silica powder. (Which I guess could be the case depending on what you're planning to add on top!)

So, I'm gonna compare it to Monistat gel.

- I just applied each to half of my face; immediate effect is identical to my eyes: less texture, which comes from cutting skin sheen without looking powdery.
I'll check in again in a couple of hours to see if I can tell any difference then.
UPDATE: well it's 4 hours later and I'd definitely be a lot shinier on both sides without anything - still no perceptible difference.

- As for "pore-filling" effect, the Clarins thicker texture feels more likely to have that, but I don't think either of these does actually. Looking in a 10x mirror I don't see tell-tale white dots in my pores (again, I'm very pale) on either side. I really think the actual skin surface is about the same, just blurred thanks to the cut sheen.
The fact that I can't see any difference with/without either of these under powder foundation seems to confirm that.

- Ingredients-wise the base is very similar, but the Clarins primer has hydrogenated vegetable oil among the top 5 or so ingredients, and many more ingredients much lower down.
- It's firmer and has a creamier/greasier feel, where the Monistat is (even) slicker, more slippery and feels a bit more powdery.

- So far I've never noticed any longevity-difference under makeup with either product.
- And I don't even see a visual difference with vs without either product under BareMinerals og foundation, in regards to pores. One of these days I'll try to do a proper half-face comparison. Also under different liquid foundations. As of yet I haven't seen it add anything under Mac face & body.

- As of now, only real use I see for either of these on the face is when you want to go without any base products, but still cut skin texture & shine a bit. If I were a man very concerned about gender presentation but also about my pores, this might appeal to me.

- Oh, bonus tip: the monistat gel on top of shiny lipsticks works the way that the Smashbox Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer advertises that it works. That is, it gives a semi-matte finish (without the formula acting like an actual matte lipstick, so it doesn't make it more long-lasting, less transfer-prone or drying.)

I've been using this for the last 4 years. It really has that light diffusing quality and has taken a few years off my look. It doesn't last all day...I will try a setting powder to see if that helps. It gives a lovely dewy finish.

Toners -CLARINS -Toning Lotion with Iris (Alcohol-free)

I’m on the fence. I’m a dermalogica kind of girl but it’s way too expensive and looking for something that’s more reasonable. So I was given this sample to use with the gentle cleanser with tamarind. I mean thank heavens I my face didn’t swell up like it did with the cleansing milk gentian but it doesn’t do anything really. I feel like the products I was given are meant for people who don’t breakout and are ONLY, I repeat, ONLY trying to balancing their oiliness. Other than that don’t expect it to give you that glow you would expect to get when you pay €30 for a toner..

I always read reviews so I decided to start doing the same too as it could benefit someone. I’m African and my skin is hypersensitive plus acne prone. I’ve got to say save yourself the money and go for something like neutrogena(way cheaper). This cleanser leaves my skin feeling squeaky but not squeaky clean. I haven’t really broken out from it cause I’m still using my dermalogica face lotion which works really well. The price for what the product delivers isn’t worth it! I guess it’s just the brand

Cleansers -CLARINS -Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed

They ruined this one. A few years ago this was my hands down fav. Loved the lather, the way it cleaned my skin, and especially the scent. The only reason I ever stopped using it is that I moved to the US and it became harder to find in stores. Anyway, I was reading the reviews about it and was very surprised to see people commenting on a cheap laundry detergent scent. I wondered if maybe I was romanticizing it but when I tried it recently, it was god awful. I am mystified as to why they would ever have stopped using the lovely vaguely floral scent they had before. Pretty sad about this because it still works as well as before, but I can’t deal with that smell.

Eyeliner -CLARINS -Waterproof Eye Pencil

This pencil is very creamy and pigmented, so I am wondering what happened to all the users who say it pulled and tugged at their skin in a hard dry way. I found it to be so soft you have to use a lighter hand when applying, like with most creamy pencil formulas.

It has lasted a long time already, so the value is worth it. However it is not at all waterproof, it has good staying power but definitely would say it smears after you wear it for a few hours or if you have oilier skin. Still looks beautiful though and does not irritate your eyes at all. Worth the purchase!

Treatments (Face) -CLARINS -Double Serum

Well, I got this product because as of late I noticed I have developed jowls. Jowls!
Huh?
I thought the signs of aging wouldn't hit me. I'd be different and escape them. But no.
So, that being the case, I decided prob I need to up my routine, add a serum. I have used this one in the past with good results. Not sure it would help with jowls but give it a try. Now mind you, mine were caused by skin irritation around the jaw line and mouth. Red. Itchy. Prob that's how it starts and sneaks up on you.
Longs story short. I"ve been using this now for a week, and, I can say, the jowls are almost all gone. No more red irritation. Jawline looks better. I'm quite amazed, actually. This product is like an oil and water serum that you mix together in your palm and then rub over your face. You should put a cream on over it too. I use two to three pumps in morning and evening. There is a slight scent to the product but it has not bothered my extremely sensitive skin. Some people have complained it broke them out. Maybe if your skin is very oily or acne prone, since this has oil in it its not for you, or just give it a try with a sample. The serum absorbs pretty quickly, but it does take a little time. It has left my skin much smoother and less red and irritated and I'm quite pleased with the overall result, esp. this jowl situation.

I normally get one zit a month. This broke me out like nothing ever has, but unf I didn’t figure out it was this until it was past 30 days. Now I have no idea what to do with this insanely expensive zit maker.

Mascara -CLARINS -Supra Volume Mascara

I wouldn't call it my HG but it's a fairly good mascara - builds up nicely, doesn't smudge and yet it's easy to remove. The brush is a "classic" which works both for upper and lower lashes. But it's expensive and dried out faster than expected so I won't be buying it again unless it's on special of some sort.

Oh what a disappointment this product was. There's no doubt it works, my skin has never felt so soft, so why the low marks? It made my oily perimenopausal skin super oily, clogged my pores and gave me cystic acne. The SA advised me it's a common problem with this product. IMHO this will be great for dry skin, but I think it's the Marmite of serums - you'll either love it or hate it.

Treatments (Face) -CLARINS -Double Serum

Clarins is an old French brand
15 or 20 years ago they were the best in luxury skincare
They were the first To introduce plant extracts
Now I think they are outdated
This sérum is the perfect proof
This is full of mineral oil and other occlusive synthetic ingredients. The only beneficial ingredients are way after the conservative
Bye clarins we dont need your subpar formulation especially for this price!!
Ren skincare is everything you pretend to be!!

I used this product once daily for the past 6 months and saw no noticeable results. I have dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin and used this underneath a light moisturizer in the morning during the fall and winter months. I was hoping that by adding a little more moisture, I would be able to heal some acne and acne scarring, but that wasn't the case. I didn't find it hydrating enough to use on its own without moisturizer.

I am about half-way through the large bottle, so I imagine that the serum could last you almost a full year when using one "big" pump per day.

The experience of using this serum is wonderful. I love the pump, and I love the consistency and smell of the product. I love that it doesn't feel 'film-y' like some serums do. It seems a bit oily/greasy when I first apply it, but absorbs quickly. Unfortunately, I didn't experience anything more that would justify the price tag so I won't be re-purchasing.

Primer/ Corrector -CLARINS -Fix Make up

When it first arrived I thought that I'd ordered the wrong bottle because it looks like a perfume bottle, but it’s the right one! WOOW!

I love how gorgeous this bottle looks like, I believe that’s one of the fanciest setting spray bottles I’ve seen so far! And it’s glass, not plastic!

The spray nozzle and how the mist comes out is just so effortless, and even, it’s not a harsh/ too strong mist, which I love because I don’t want to end up having a wet face. The mist should spread evenly and soft, which it does!

It gives an intensely luminous finish once you spray it on and if you wear highlighter, it will make it blinding! I just love how fresh and radiant my face looks like after I’ve sprayed it on + the smell of it is incredible! – Like grapefruit… it just reminds me of a perfume which I personally find very luxurious!

It keeps my makeup in place all day long, and I can feel how it settles into my makeup to hold it together. I live in the tropics where it’s bloody hot! And I just can tell you that I notice a huge difference and that it keeps my makeup on!

Usually setting sprays do not much to my makeup, but with this one, I can see and feel the difference where I would say, I’ll get it again for me it’s worth it, and I don’t mind that it is a high-end product! It works!

Moisturizers -CLARINS -Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream

on 3/24/2019 10:36:00 PM

I was in a hunt for a good, rich moisturiser that does not leave my face feeling greasy. Tried Avene rich cream (really good in giving hydration, but left my face feeling oily/greasy), First-Aid Ultra Repair (Felt too tacky on my face and I have a feeling it gives me bumps), Fresh Rose Deep Hydation (it didn’t give me enough hydration and it felt slimy on my face), Cerave (gave me bumps) and a few others. Clarins Hydra Essentiel Silky Cream is the best so far! It gives me enough hydration, feels good on the skin (does not make my face slimy or greasy), well absorbed, and it smells nice! Although as all other clarins products, it is expensive and that’s the only reason I give it 4 stars. When I first used it a year ago I didn’t really like it, thought it didn’t give me enough hydration then I stopped and tried other brands of moisturisers. Until one day I ran out of moisturisers to use and my husband bought this for me (he thought I still used it) and I tried it on again and surprisingly it does a great job this time! Will definitely stick to this moisturiser!

BB Cream -CLARINS -BB Skin Perfecting Cream SPF 25

Omg, this started promising, but ended in a disappointment.
Pro: Application is like a dream, evens skin tone in a natural way, shade ‘light’ is perfect match for me.
Con: Staying power: few hours only, then it faded out and left me with dry/itchy patches on my face.
Overall: not worth the price, some tinted day creams perform better.
