Polishes -OPI - Malaga Wine

on 10/13/2017 1:22:00 AM

I am an artist and looking at my fingers this looks almost exactly like Quinacridone Magenta (oil paint) in the tube. A very deep rich magenta red. I don't think it's a color that photographs well but it dries exactly the color in the bottle. This is a color that feels like "boss bitch" in a don't mess-with-me kind of way. Dominatrix Red.

I found this polish really easy to work with. I was able to manipulate the polish on the nail for more strokes than usual. And for me I had almost perfect coverage in a single coat. It's a classic creme formula it wasn't super shiny on it's own so I put a top coat on and it's immaculate.

Eye Shadow -Morphe - 25A Copper Spice Palette

on 10/13/2017 1:18:00 AM

So I’ve always wanted to try the famous morphe 35O palette but never got round to it because I felt 35 shadows is unnecessarily a lot and honestly will not even use all 35 shades. Plus the packaging for the 35 range is pretty bleh.

Then comes this limited edition 25 series Palette, it comes in 2 types. 25A copper spice and 25B bronzed mocha. People say 25A is more warm and 25B is more neutral. But I think they’re both pretty warm to me. I went for 25A since I preferred the colour tones more!

I’ve also wanted to try the Juvia’s place Nubian Palette for so long but never got round to it because 1. It’s always sold out 2. It’s pretty pricey for 12 pans.

So I took the plunge and bought this 25A Palette as I’ve seen good reviews and it looks so aesthetic and pretty.

The shadows are no doubt pigmented. The lighter colours aka first row don’t show up that well on swatch but they are buildable. The other 4 rows are really pigmented and easy to swatch. I’m most impressed with the metallic/ shimmer shades. They appear super pigmented on the first swipe and the colours are great, ranging from champagne pink - gold - bronze. I believe there’s plenty of looks that can be created from this Palette.

Also, it’s a good Palette and I’d recommend it to beginners who are looking to purchase their 1st eyeshadow palette. You can never go wrong with this.

Truly is worth the purchase. It is pretty reasonably priced.

Some cons is that the shadows do have some fallout. And there’s darker colours like in the last row I don’t see myself ever using, but hey it’s good to have options!

While it’s still available, it’s worth purchasing. Though if you already have similar palettes like the 35O or Juvia’s Nubian Palette, I’d skip this they basically have the same shades.

Concealers -MAC - Pro Longwear Concealer

Not impressed.
First off I did not feel the coverage was that great at all.
I have way better coverage using a single dot of NYX Gotcha Covered Concealer or L.A. Girl's HD Pro Concealer.
This also did not last longer than my Revlon colorstay concealer.
The only thing this had on Revlon was the shade range as Revlon only has about 4 shades....sad.
By midday, I could see this wearing off, not that the coverage ever looked that good, to begin with.
It also looked like makeup on the skin and not very natural. It slipped around on the skin in some areas too.
When I first heard of this concealer I was so excited because it had a pump but it is not very good.
I got pretty good at only pumping out what I needed but sometimes it would not come out at all and seemed empty BUT it wasn't, it ended up lasting another month from that point, thank goodness I did not throw it out or maybe I should have.
Clearly, will not be repurchasing.
1 lippie for performance 2 lippies for shade range

Styling Products -Garnier - Sleek & Shine Flat Iron Perfector Straightening Mist

on 10/13/2017 12:10:00 AM

I was pretty surprised how well this worked.
I honestly did not expect much but the price was great so I said why not.
If I have somewhere to go I spray this on damp hair and use a round porcupine brush, with both the boar and nylon bristles, and blow dry all my hair straight. Using this type of brush yields the best results.
I usually shower at night so I try to let my hair air dry but before it dries completely I spray the sections around my face that are curly, wavy, and frizzy then blow dry those areas straight.
In the morning it is still looking pretty good. If I am staying home or just running errands I will fix some of the spots that need to be smoothed out from sleeping on it and I am good to go.
I also use my regular paddle or vent brush on days I am not going anywhere important it just does not look as smooth.
Like some others have mentioned this does not leave a slick residue all over my bathroom.
I can use as much as I want and never have problems with this leaving my hair greasy or weighed down.
However, I almost feel like my hair is becoming drier in the areas I use this most.
Not 100% sure but it sort of looks like it so I do not feel like it is protecting my hair all that much.
Helping to smooth yes, protect ??? Not so sure.
I will be trying something else next but I will not cross this off my list completely just yet especially because it works to smooth out my hair and you can't beat the price.

Dry Shampoo -Nexxus - Refreshing Mist Dry Shampoo

on 10/13/2017 12:02:00 AM

I haven't tried very many dry shampoos (most of the ones Batiste has, Aussie, and a cheap off-brand one, John Frieda, CoLab and soon also Klorane), but something common for all of them is that they made my scalp itch, which I absolutely hated, understandably: on top of actually having dirty hair, you don't want it to also itch! The nexxus one doesn't make me itch a bit - that is just fantastic!

My second complain about many shampoos has been the smell - especially the Batiste smells - most of them smell kinda yeasty on me (yuck!), except Neon Lights. he CoLab ones were no better, although I could tolerate London on me (smells kinda rubbery, and polluted - definitely gives a feeling of London, not a bad smell). Nexxus smells quite strongly of cotton candy, but I can do that. Not my favorite, and totally overpowers my perfume, but better than the other dry shampoos I have smelt.

Otherwise, Batiste original dry shampoos (not the volumizing or XXL ones) and Nexxus works the same - they absorb the oil, and don't leave any white traces. Actually, maybe Nexxus is even a little bit better at not leaving white residue, because I can't remember having to brush it out much.

After dry shampoos, the hair can feel a little stuck together when brushing it. Nexxus gives the least amount of this, and gives a nicest feel to the hair than the other dry shampoos I have tried.

To summarize: Nexxus wins at every thing mentioned here: smell, texture, residue, feeling on the hair, no itchiness. I like the smell, but I think that might be the biggest thing that someone else might dislike about this, aside from the $14 price

Gels/Soaps -Nivea - Caring Shower Silk Mousse

on 10/12/2017 11:48:00 PM

I am not sure how Nivea calls this a body wash. It's straight up Barbasol, down to the smell and texture (at least the version in the dark blue can). Not feminine what so ever. It's essentially an overpriced shaving cream! It does not lather at all which is what I want my body wash to do. It is hard to explain but the foam that comes out is thick and thin at the same time and it doesn't leave me feeling clean. There is no way in h*ll that you can put this on a loofa or wash cloth because it just disappears. The first time I used this it actually burned my private area just as traditional shaving cream does to me which just really turned me off. Waste of $7, I don't use shaving cream which is the only way it can be used efficiently.

Lips -Dior - Lip Tattoo Long-Wear Colored Tint

on 10/12/2017 11:48:00 PM

I loved the idea of a lip stain by Dior. I got Natural Berry and the color had the potential of looking great but that depended on how lightly/heavily you put it on. But therein lies the problem, it is SO hard to control the amount of product the comes off and spread it evenly on the lips with the applicator. I will wait a few seconds short of drying and lightly blot my lips on a tissue paper and then smack my lips together. It's probably best to use your finger to dab a bit a product on your lips for a natural look.
The idea of dabbing color on my lips is just fussy especially when I'm a public setting. I WISH that the stain lasted longer so reapplication wouldn't be necessary but unfortunately that's not that case. Longevity sucks...

Liquid -Unlisted Brand - Sappho New Paradigm Essentials Liquid Foundation

on 10/12/2017 11:46:00 PM

I am so thrilled to have found this foundation! I am a professional makeup artist and I’ve been searching and product testing foundations for months, looking for a formulation with healthy clean ingredients without compromising QUALITY. This foundation is exactly what I’m looking for, it doesn’t look like foundation, but gorgeous, flawless radiant skin, and it lasts all day which is extremely important for my bridal clients.
