Foundations -Make Up For Ever -Water Blend Face & Body Foundation

I’ll be honest I hated this when I first bought it. I threw it to the back of my stash but it intrigued me because even though I hated it at first I loved the finish and staying power. It’s basically IMPOSSIBLE as you all know to find a light, radiant foundation that stays put. Everything else is sticky or too dewy... and definitely doesn’t set. So I decided to experiment a little more and I finally found a better way to apply it and now I love this foundation so much!!! Okay first things first 1. Do not buy this foundation if you expect anything over a light coverage. You will be disappointed. 2. This will not look on very textured skin. 3. Do not use a silicone primer with this. This is a largely water based foundation and silicone and water don’t mix. 4. Applying this solely with a sponge is a bad idea. I like to apply a water based serum and my normal moisturizer and let that set. Then, how I like to apply this is firstly with my hands until you can feel the tug and pull. This is the product setting. Once it becomes too difficult to spread with my hands I even out the edges with a synthetic foundation brush. Then I repeat the process if I want to add another layer. You can layer this but anymore than two layers I think you’re kinda reaching. Then once I’m happy with coverage I dab any brush stokes left behind with a beauty blender and set with Laura Mercier translucent powder before adding my bronzer and blush. I just find it applies much better. My biggest advice with this is to give it time to set and do it’s thing. And don’t expect to get full coverage. The only thing I don’t love about this product is the strong floral scent but it does go away after application.

Polishes -Essie -Topless and Barefoot

on 3/22/2018 1:15:00 PM

I had to get this because I saw so many people raving about the color. It's a pale beige/pink that leans a little towards pink.
On the nail this is a very sophisticated color. I think it's a generally easy color to pull off but might not work for everyone.
(If you prefer more of a sandy/tan nude, Topless and Barefoot is probably going to be too pink for you.)

I am taking it down one star because I found the formula to be runny and streaky. I am pretty good at managing this and was able to get good coverage in 2 coats but I could see other people really struggling. It will run down the brush and you will have more polish than you expect. So don't dip the brush all the way in and you can get the right amount of polish on the brush. And then try not to overwork it on the nail. This finish was not as shiny as I like so you will probably want a top coat.

Wear time seems average, dry time was average.

Blush -Estee Lauder -Pure Color Blush - Lovers Blush #10

Lover's Blush is a soft brown/peach blush with slightly golden shimmer, which is very flattering on my coloring. It makes me look healthy as it acts as both a light bronzer and a blusher on me! When I look in the mirror, I see healthiness and not the blush on my cheeks.

About my coloring so you can compare to yours - I am a natural redhead, who is now graying, so I dye my hair auburn with golden face framing highlight. I have green/blue eyes. My skin is very light. It's texture is dry with freckles and mild rosacea on my cheeks. I have recently learned to downplay the redness with a warm or neutral leaning foundation and now this blush.

I do agree with the other reviewer who said that its name has changed several times over the last 20-years. I recognized the hue at the store immediately. When I look at the display, the color does not stand out amongst the others, so I guess that's why I overlooked it. I now really like it and wish I tried it a long time ago!

Liquid -L'Oreal -Lumi Foundation

My absolute all time favourite day time foundation. This is light weight and gives me a dewy finish. Granted it doesn't stay on ALL day but that is not what I look for during the day.

I want a easy to blend, light foundation that doesn't break the bank and this is it. I have pretty sensitive skin too and redness on my cheeks so this does not irritate my skin and the more you put on the fuller the coverage. I am ok with a little redness coming through.

Treatments (Face) -Neostrata -Anti-redness cream

Unfortunately this product did not help me with my redness. It gave me little bumps on my cheek too. I didn't feel hydrated after it . I would say I have sensitive skin but not typically dehydrated.

I love this eye shadow palate. The colors make blue/green eyes pop. It naturally brings out their beauty without being overwhelming.

Conditioner -Organix -Shea Soft & Smooth

on 3/22/2018 11:46:00 AM

Has a pleasant shea butter and coconut milk scent. This is a basic, daily conditioner that detangles hair well. It did not add hydration to my hair nor diminish frizz. Just average to me.

Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana -Dolce Garden Eau de Parfum

I love this scent! It is surprisingly coconutty which gives it a beachy vibe. You can definitely smell the vanilla and almond as well. The dry down is magnificent as the coconut fades a bit and you can smell the floral notes. I was pleasantly surprised about the lasting power and sillage as well. I sprayed on my jacket in-store and could smell it a week later. If you like gourmands or sweet beachy fragrances, you should absolutely try this! This has a similar feel to GA Gioia di Sun but with much better longevity and sillage. Perfect for warm months!
