Lip Treatments -Glossier - balm dotcom

on 4/23/2017 5:03:00 AM

What I love about balm dotcom is that it instantly feels like it's working on my lips as soon as I apply. Some people may say that it's a glorified vaseline, (maybe for them) but for me it's definitely not. I've tried a lot lip products over time but this one feels like it actually plumps my lips, eliminating the lines and dryness. OH, and it's not just used on lips. You can use it on your cuticles.. and I would imagine anywhere you have a lot of dryness. It does its job, maybe even borderline addictive because I love the feeling of moisturized lips now. The only con for me is that although glossier's branding is really cute, the tube packaging for this I have to squeeze extra carefully so that I don't accidentally plop a bunch of the product out. Other than that, love it. Make sure you get the 20% off with this link

Treatments (Face) -Elizabeth Arden - Eight Hour Cream

on 4/23/2017 4:18:00 AM

I had this and I threw it out in the end, I didn't like it at all. It was quite drying on my lips, smells awful and is really greasy. It doesn't sink in to skin, just forms a greasy layer and I have no use for it. Much better products out there that work much better. Lansinoh nipple cream which is 100% medical grade lanolin, Bepanthen which is a nappy ointment is brilliant and worth checking out the reviews for both. Also, they are a fraction of the price! I definitely won't repurchase this.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Airy Fairy

on 4/23/2017 4:12:00 AM

Airy Fairy. The name itself is enough to get me to buy it again.

Okay. This is a lovely little lipstick from our friends at Rimmel. It comes in your standard twist-up purple-y container. I haven't had any problems with this separating in either my purse or my pocket and it seems fairly sturdy (I tend to carry my lip products in my pocket, because that way I don't have to go hunting down my purse any time I want to touch up my lipstick).

The color itself is definitely smack dab in the cool category; not a warm note in this at all. Due to the pinkish color, I wouldn't even say this is a neutral. Airy Fairy is a kind of pinky/taupey nudey/lavendery color that changes with the situation. I know that sounds weird, but once you apply this and look at it in different lights and with different clothes, you'll understand. With certain light conditions, and with certain clothing, it can appear to be anywhere along the spectrum from a light pink to a neutral brownish pink to a taupey lavender and any color in between. The color itself doesn't change; rather, it's like it picks up color from what is around it, absorbs parts of it, and reflects parts of it back, so in each situation it changes slightly.

It isn't glossy at all, but has a more satin finish. It definitely isn't matte or flat. I haven't noticed any shimmer. On my lips, it feels smooth and not sticky or pasty. It can feel kind of heavy if I apply too much, so I usually wipe it all off and totally reapply if I need to do more than a small touch up. Applying this is so easy, you don't even really need a mirror. I personally don't wear a gloss over it, because I just don't feel like this needs to be glossed up. I don't use a lip liner with it either, although you could. I also haven't had an allergic reaction to it.

Yes, there is a slight scent; it reminds me of an Orange Julius. Honestly, there's worse things a lipstick can smell like. It doesn't taste like an Orange Julius, so there's that.

The wear is about what you'd expect from a creamy, satin-y finish lipstick. It is under their "Lasting Finish" line and the claim on the website is that it lasts "up to 8 hours". Not quite. I can get a couple, maybe three, hours out of this before touching up. Now, that may just be me...I like to rub my lips together when I'm wearing a lip product (habit, anxiety, just liking the feel, whatever) so maybe my lip products wear off faster. I also normally use a lip balm underneath my Rimmel lipsticks, because I feel that, on me, they can look a little heavy. I don't care for that look on myself, and I find that a lip balm underneath cuts that heavy look a little and makes my lipsticks both apply smoother and feel nicer. Maybe that cuts the wear time, I don't know. I'm not super convinced that ANY regular lipstick is gonna last eight hours, and reapplying isn't that big of a deal anyway, so I'm not concerned about it. Any moisturizing lip balm will do; I use either eos (which goes on clear) or Lip Smackers in a neutral color, like Coca-Cola or Vanilla Coke. However, I do also wear it without a lip balm underneath. It's not like it HAS to have a lip balm to work. If I forget to grab one, it isn't a dealbreaker.

For around $5 USD at Walmart (and around that same price at other retailers), you can't beat this. Airy Fairy is a versatile little lipstick that I have used for years and I don't plan on stopping now. I am very pale with definite cool/pink undertones to my skin, reddish-brown hair, and grey eyes, and this complements me perfectly. This works in the winter when I'm pale and in the summer when I'm more tan. A light swipe goes with a more natural, neutral face; a little heavier application goes with a smokey eye and/or a heavier makeup look. I've worn it with jeans and I've worn it on date night and I've worn it to the funeral home. It just works with everything. It isn't the only lip color I wear, but I do wear it a lot.

Just go buy it. You'll thank me later.

This would be HG status if not for its appalling color range....

If only I was NC25-35 T.T I could fit into the only 2 shades of this concealer.

With that out of the way, you beautiful medium-skinned ladies get to enjoy all the benefits of this awesomesauce in a pot:

-heavy coverage, full pigmentation
-glides smoothly, blendable, does not cake
-lasts long, no transfers, no slips once set with powder
-zero comedogenic ingredients*
*Talc is flagged in cosDNA but seriously... which base makeup does not have Talc.......? ...let's move on

For the lucky ladies, you could do with a light BB or liquidy foundation and achieve a flawless complexion with this trusty little companion that's such good value for money and will probably last you forever.

My NC15 face will have to make do with another lighter concealing product :(

Skincare - Face -Elizabeth Arden - Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum

I was confused with the slippery and silky texture of this serum at first. It feels like it doesn't sink right in. But it's not sticky at all. But the more i massage the product , i really like how it feels on my skin. It's silky smooth and i wake up with a glowing complexion and not oily [i normally wake up with super oily tzone]
This product gives me more than enough hydration and not making my skin greasy. I use it alone at night after cleansing and toning. I can see visible difference on my skin texture. I'm dealing with bumps on my forehead. And it's so much better now. I use this product more than 2weeks now.
Each pod is too much for my face, neck and chest.
I'm so impressed with it and the packaging .. Sooo beautiful. Tho the price is a lil bit up there for me. Really enjoy using it

Lipstick -Too Faced - pink chocolate

on 4/23/2017 2:16:00 AM

Beautiful lippie! Pink Chocolate is a good description. My lips are pink to start with, NW20, UD 3.5, more light than medium. This is a lovely warm neutral pink on me. Smooth application, substantial brushed gold tube, not drying! I didn't use a balm under, and my lips were silky when it wore off in 4-5 hours with no stickiness. I'm 61, and there was no bleeding into lines and the lipstick itself faded gradually and gracefully. My perfect spring lip with a bit of punch! Can't wait to receive Sweet Maple. This formula works well for me. $22 and a 20% coupon!

On another note, I tried Raisin Berry by Bobbi Brown recently. The color is deeper, and it does get gummy and fades unevenly and quickly. And at $28, it's going back.

Treatments (Face) -InnisFree - New Green Tea Seed Serum

PROS: does what it promises to do, is light & hydrating
CONS: quite expensive for the benefits it brings, the little cap is a bit loose

I first bought it because I heard that this is a life saver for people with extremely dry skin, and I was going through a phase where I had terribly dry patches all over (which is a first for someone who only has oily-combo skin like me). The first night I used it, I saw a big difference: it really calmed down the dryness and within a couple more days, my skin was completely smooth and hydrated. As I started to add it to my daily routine, my skin seemed to get used to it and it wasn't enough to combat the dryness anymore. What I do now is I layer a couple of products like toner, lotion, serums to keep my skin feeling light yet hydrated at the same time, and use a heavy duty moisturizing cream only where I have extremely dry patches. I don't see why I should spend so much money on a serum that does the same thing that other more affordable lotions can do for me. Other people's skin my react differently to the product, but my skin got accustomed to it so it doesn't do anything for me anymore. I'll finish my second bottle and won't repurchase.
