Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Hydra Genius (Normal/Dry Skin)

on 7/24/2017 8:51:00 PM

I got a sample of this for free from their site.

My skin is dehydrated. It loves hydration and being moisturized. So of course I was going to see if this works.

What I like: the consistency and pump bottle.

What I dislike: the cost and the acne it gave me.

I had clear skin. I thought I'd add this to my routine. It was the only thing I changed. I woke up with about 6 acne spots the next day. Which for me is rare. But it's a tell tale sign that my skin does not like this product.

I also do not like that my chin was flake today. I'm not sure what was going on with that. I've never had that problem before with any other skincare.

Skincare - Body -Bio Oil - All Products

It's truly a miracle oil. I have big patches of dark gray, hard, scaly eczema scars all over my legs, one three inches in length down my shin, and after reading about it, I decided to go ahead and try it. It was on sale, so I bought the small bottle. A little spout or pump would make it easier to get the oil out, I noticed. I have to be very careful tipping it out and not get the oil dripping all over the bottle. The oil itself has a light, fresh scent which I like. It is rather light in texture too, so I was doubtful at first. But I used it religiously for one week now, and not just the stipulated twice a day but massaged it in about four times a day, and now I can visually see the ugly dark patches fading and the feel of it is softer. I am so happy. It doesn't cure eczema. For that, I'm still looking for a miracle moisturizer and am trying the St. Ives oatmeal, the second day now. But it does fade the scars. I hope in another week's time they will be gone. I have a history of eczema, and this has really helped so far.

Hair -L'Oreal - Excellence Creme Haircolor

on 7/24/2017 7:46:00 PM

I have been using this hair color product for years and I feel it is the best sold. I've had my hair colored professionally several times but I'm never happy with the results. My hair is colored a medium ash blonde. At the hairdresser it always comes out a bit brassy or too golden. I'm looking for an ashy tone because my skin tone is cool. Gold hair doesn't work on me. The reason for brass is that the natural dark hair color underneath can't be "lifted" to a very light shade. As one hairdresser said "your hair doesn't want to be blonde". It's actually just too dark to lighten up to what I want. Now I color my hair a mid ash blonde with L'Oreal Excellence and I get a good result. It's ashy and not too light or dark. It lasts about 6 weeks and I just recolor the roots and leave the color on the rest of my hair for 10 minutes. My hair stays in pretty good condition afterwards. The conditioner that comes with the box is also very good stuff. I use number 9.1.

BB Cream -Urban Decay - Naked Skin One and Done

on 7/24/2017 7:44:00 PM

In my never ending quest for a suitable BB cream / foundation with SPF, I came to this one. I have a love/hate relationship with Urban Decay, specially foundations because they are too drying, or too sticky (I tried them all). That being said, I really wanted to love this one, but I just can't. I know the coverage is light and being honest, I'm fine with that for daily use and going to work. But it literally starts to wear off in the first 2 or 3 hours, and my skin feels sticky and heavy. I really hate that feeling, even sealing with powder does not help for long. It also marks my expression lines even though I constantly try to "clean" them. I wanted a nice BB Cream for everyday use but It's just not right for me and my oily skin with dry patches.

Powder -Lancome - Dual Finish Versatile Powder Makeup

on 7/24/2017 7:37:00 PM

Shut the front door!!! Where has this been all my life???

I have been on the hunt for a foundation for the last 6 years or so. I am 58 and shortly after turning 50, foundations weren't playing nice with my skin. I have probably sampled, bought, returned over 100 formulas. I finally settled on alternating between IT Cosmetics CC and Laura Geller Balance and Brighten, not entirely satisfied with either, but at least the finish was doable and didn't make my complexion look worse.

I dislike liquid or cream powder, but it's so hard to find one for older skin.

I had a sample of this that has sat on my desk for a couple of months...I looked at it last week and fondly remembered my first publishing job out of college...and how everything in my makeup bag was Lancome. For some reason, I eventually strays away from the line.

I applied it to my skin last week, and wow, just me great coverage without looking settling in pores or micro cracking or looking older than I cakiness, just a lovely, soft focus that minimizes pores...actually understand that airbrushed look now. It lasted me about 5-6 hours before it began to fade a bit, but it still looked it had melded with my skin...I blotted and gave it a light touch up and it was beautiful for another 4 hours. Its lightweight and feels fabulous on the skin. It also seems to be transfer proof as well. I use it with the Lancome waterproof concealer, which is a great combo!

I promptly went out and bought Amande III, which is just the perfect, gorgeous shade for me.

I will still use the CC cream when I'm in the sun, but this will replace Laura Geller as my go to foundation.

Primer/ Corrector -Hard Candy - Sheer Envy Hydrating Primer Mist

on 7/24/2017 7:21:00 PM

This primer left a really sticky residue on my skin. I don't think I would mind it so much in the winter when it's colder out...but definitely not right now (summer).

I like that it doesn't contain alcohol, silicone and is oil free.

The spray could be improved. It doesn't give a light even mist....the primer comes out in huge water droplets onto the face. I have to use my hands to pat it in and smooth it out.

Wouldn't purchase again.

Palettes -Urban Decay - Naked Heat

on 7/24/2017 7:17:00 PM

I really love this palette! I own a bunch of different palletes and I would say this one is my favorite one by far. I really like the warm copper tones. It complements my tan skin very well. With this pallete, I use all of the colors. All of the colors are easy to work with and very blendable. With the other naked palletes I owned, I had wasn't using all of the colors in the palette especially the ones at the end because they didn't look good on me or blend easily.

The pigementation on this pallete is amazing. It is very easy to blend and create unique looks. The colors really make my eyes pop and can make any girl look like a sunkissed goddess. My favorite shades are lumbre, scorched, and dirty talk. I really like those shimmer shades and they don't flake off. They all are easy to apply and they stay on for a long time also. I also like the matte shades and how they look in the crease. The texture of the shadows are very nice too.

The packaging is also very cute and creative. It gives you a summer type of look and the case is solid and so it is very travel friendly. The naked heat comes with a brush and I actually really like the brush. It's too sided blendy brush and I feel like it gives me a lot of control.

The only thing I would change about this pallete is maybe like adding a coppery gold color. Lumbre looks more of a pinkish rose gold then a coppery rose gold. I think having a gold would have been nice.

Pricewise, yes it is pricey at $54 but the quality is amazing, and the colors are very unique and long lasting.

Overall, I love this pallete and it's the perfect for my tan skin tone. Well done Urban Decay :)

Eyeliner -Clinique - Brush-on cream liner in TRUE BLACK

on 7/24/2017 7:02:00 PM

I really love this eyeliner. I particularly bought this because I was looking for an eyeliner that was very black. This eyeliner is truly black, the blackest black I have seen. Many people don't like how dark/black this cream liner is, but it really works for me. I have tan skin, black eyes, thick eyebrows, so this eyeliner color is perfect for me to help create a strong contrast with my strong features. It really helps my eyes pop. Before, I had the bobbi brown gel eyeliner in black ink and clinique true black is blacker than that. It lasts me long too and it doesn't smudge on me. I like how it is easy to work with since the texture is very smooth and consistent. It is really easy to make cat eyes. You don't have to apply a lot of pressure since it glides on so easily and quickly since it is a cream eyeliner and not a thick gel eyeliner like Bobbi Brown. I think the brush is okay, not the best. I would buy my own brush separately and use it with this liner. For the price of $16, this cream eyeliner is a very good deal. I'm definitely going to purchase again when I run out.

Lipstick -Tom Ford - Sable smoke lipstick

on 7/24/2017 6:50:00 PM

I don't think I've given any product a "5" for price in a very long time. But, oh so worth it! Why not add a little luxury into ev day life?? I wear my best perfumes every day, I use my best makeup, I wear clothes that aren't rags. And my #1 & #2 weakness respectively are lip products & perfume. OK i go to Kroger & can spend $30-$40 on ditzel junk it's not hard ev1s done it but I'm not going to do that anymore I'm going to be v e r y conscious of what I spent so I can spend more of it on quality rather than quantity. So this lipstick. This is definitely quality -- old worlde glamourouss Bridget Bardot sexy siren sexpot languidly lavish. The color is a peachy nude satin Finish so much more depth than MAC freckletone/peachstock/myth, sheer AND riche & im surprised some glambo celebutante hasn't swooped in to claim this for herself like a la Kim KW or Kylie. I'm going to shove all of my wnw lipsticks into a drawer if I don't look at them for a couple months then they are outtie! Life's too short to wear bad lipstick!! #mynewfavething
