Styling Products -DevaCurl -Ultra Defining gel

on 9/18/2018 7:21:00 PM

I bought a sample of this gel and I hated it. I have very fine, thin 3a/b curls and don't need curl enhancement ; I want a gel for definition and hold.

I tried it over wet (water squeezed out but not towel dried at all) hair, blotted it with a t-shirt and let it air dry, which is my normal routine.

My hair was frizzy, rough, and totally unmanageable; I had zero hold and absolutely no curl definition. It was actually worse than when I use no products after washing. Maybe it's intended to be used in combination with other Deva products; I don't know, but after using this gel I'm not interested in Deva. Plus it's very expensive.

I returned it.

Concealers -MAC Cosmetics -Studio Conceal and Correct Palette

on 9/18/2018 6:54:00 PM

I'm on my 2nd one of these! I'm N22/25 and I got Light. There are times a stiffer concealer like these are needed....don't get me wrong, I love my liquidy Prolong Wear and NARS RCC, but depending on the weather and occasion, a more long lasting consistency like these work better. I love being able to mix and match according to the area of the face I'm concealing, and what color I need. I will without a doubt repurchase for a 3rd time when needed, and always have this palette in my stash.

Skincare -Cetaphil -Daily Hydrating Lotion with Hyaluronic Acid

Despite the label saying that this product is for dry to very dry skin, it’s really not. The consistency is that of a thick serum, and it definitely didn’t moisturize my skin enough, although it might work for oilier skin types. I also experienced some itching whenever I applied it, and my skin felt a bit hot afterwards.

Cleansers -Aveeno -Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser

on 9/18/2018 6:33:00 PM

This is a very underrated cleanser. I usually dread washing my face because of how dry, tight, and irritated my skin feels afterwards, but I’ve never had this problem with the Aveeno Ultra Calming Cleanser. Despite the foaming action, it doesn’t leave my complexion feeling stripped at all, and I have very dry skin. Ever since I started using it, my face has been far less red and aggravated, which is a huge win for me in my book. I don’t wear makeup, so I can’t speak for its makeup removing abilities, but otherwise, it’s awesome.

Lipstick -MAC Cosmetics -Patentpolish Lip Pencil (All Shades)

on 9/18/2018 6:13:00 PM

These have quickly become one of my favorite new lip products, mainly because they are easy, great packaging, very pigmented for a gloss balm hybrid, and fairly priced for the quality...I picked up 2 of these recently, and will definitely be getting a few more shades.. I love the twist up packaging, and the texture of these.. They are more opaque than a tinted balm, and have better lasting power as well.. There's also a huge color selection. Definitely recommend.

Treatments (Face) -Algenist -Genius Liquid Collagen

Got my hands on a this beauty last week, used for 7 days now and already really liking it. My skin looks glowing, rested and more plump by the morning and generally just better overall. Even from the 1st application I could see a difference. It hasn't made any difference to texture or pores but I would use a Retinol or AHA/BHA for that purpose, separate to this. No stickiness to speak of, I think if anyone does experience a sticky after feel chances are they are using too much serum.

A friend of mine who used Liquid Collagen had dismissed this as all hype after an SA told her it could get rid of her 11's (expression lines) which she knows as well as I do - NO skincare product can do that as these are created by repeated muscular movements well below skin level. Only something that can stop those movements at their source, i.e botox can diminish the muscular movements and therefore the 11s.

Ok so back to this; yes it is pricey, it smells like a frying pan to my nose but I've read all sorts of feedback on the smell from good to bad. Personally I don't mind what it smells like when the results are this good! The dispenser system is a bit fiddly and often will not dispense product which can be frustrating. Yes it has its minor downfalls but its saving grace is its ingredients, everything from peptides to niacinamide, proven ingredients that help the condition and appearance/function of your skin... not those 11's!!

Loose Powders -Ben Nye -Neutral Set Colorless Face Powder

I bought this because of the antiperspirant properties of this face powder. I have facial hyperhidrosis; I am a copious and perpetual Sweaty Betty. It is triggered by many things, most of all by social anxiety. I had a job interview at Macy's cosmetic counter coming up, and knew I'd end up being a sweaty mess and blow it if I didn't do something. So I bought this and another antiperspirant product called Sweatblock. I used the Sweatblock at night twice in a row, and it helped, but didn't fully stop the sweat. Now enter Ben Nye neutral set...I baked my entire face with this powder after my MU application, then hosed myself down in UD setting spray. I didn't break a sweat the entire interview, I was cool as a cucumber! My face looked a tiny bit powdery, but it was better than sweaty! If I use this like a regular face set, aka a light dusting, it looks invisible. Btw, I'm pretty sure I got the job and it really is because of the confidence of not having to sweat the sweat that this powder has bestowed upon me. Will forever purchase!

Foundations -Dior -Backstage Face & Body Foundation

on 9/18/2018 5:38:00 PM

I am very disappointed by this DIOR foundation. It has very light coverage. If I want to build it to medium, it looks cakey on me.
My oil breaks through by 3 hours of wear even with a primer. Price is reasonable for 50ml, but you need a lot for one application.

Cleansers -Mario Badescu -Glycolic Foaming Cleanser

on 9/18/2018 5:06:00 PM

This is one of the worst skincare products I have ever used. I gave it a shot originally because of my love for the drying lotion spot treatment of the same brand, but I shouldn’t have. This RAVAGED my skin. My skin is slightly sensitive, and the reaction was terrible - tiny bumps all over my face, intense dryness and irritation and stinging when applying other products. Makeup only emphasized it and made me look much older with all of the texture on my skin.
All of this after just 2 uses. Would NOT recommend to anyone.

Eyeliner -Too Faced -Glitter Pop! Peel-Off Eyeliner - Kitty Glitter

on 9/18/2018 4:44:00 PM

I am in love with these glitter eyeliners from TF. They are AMAZING! I have all eight of the shades that are currently available, they are THAT GOOD.

Kitty Glitter just might be my favorite one. It's made up of super-bright fuchsia glitter with a sprinkling of holographic glitter throughout. So cute and fun! And the wear is phenomenal. Once it's applied and dried, this eyeliner isn't going anywhere. Zero glitter fallout, and that's without any primer or glitter glue or anything else. And on my oily lids!

When you're ready to take it off, it really does peel off in one piece. At first I thought this was just a gimmick, but now I see it's actually really practical. You can just wash this off just like any other eyeliner if you want to, but now you've got glitter particles moving around all over your face. These glitters aren't scratchy at all but they're still glitter. The peel-off aspect is probably a really good idea from a skincare point of view. And also if you mess up your application (which you probably won't because these apply so easily), you can just peel it off and try again. Great stuff!

I love Kitty Glitter, and I love the other shades too. Excellent product. If you're looking for a glitter eyeliner, this line is the best one out there IMO. Very highly recommended!!!
