Palettes -Urban Decay -Naked Heat

on 1/20/2018 8:24:00 AM

I included my Anastasia MR review below for reference because I was trying to decide between the two palettes. Neither seemed perfect for me, but both intrigued me. After playing with both Naked Heat is the one that seems to work best on me. And that on me part is huge. I am nw20, deep winter, almost black 3n hair, brown eyes. By all accounts MR should work so much better on me and Heat should just look orange. But I have odd undertones. My skin is extremely pink but with this golden undertones. Yes my eyes are brown, but they skew on the hazel side of brown and I have dark under eye circles. As a result, when I put on the red/pink shades in MR, I always looked like I was trying to be a character (like something from Alice in Wonderland or Harley Quinn) or sick. The colors just did not compliment me or make me smile once I applied. So then I tried Heat. It is definitely different, warm toned and looks like it skews so orange. But, and I think this is where the Naked (neutral) part kicks in, it worked. Yes, it is a bit funky, very Rio de Janerio and Carnival. But it worked. It came off as less like I was putting on makeup to look like a character and more like a very summery fun smokey bronze golden goodness if I use the darker shades or the glittery shades. The softer shades came me this peaches and cream feel and not really "OMG that is orange!" at all. And I pull out orange in a bad way in EVERYTHING. But this palette works somehow. I found myself smiling every time I used it. If I went on vacation someplace warm, this would be the palette I would want to take. But even now in the dead of winter it is working.

I have had all Nakeds but the smokey. On the first, the first part was great but the black, gray and dark ones not so much on me. Two seemed like perfection for me at first glance, but then I realized it was just a touch too cool for my rather warm toned eyes. Three was really pretty but it just didn't rock my world. I gave it to my friend who is a brunette summer with green eyes and it is the perfect palette for her. The only palette she would ever need. I kept saying no to Heat, pardon the pun but I have been burned by these palettes before. However, Naked Heat just kept calling me even though sales people tried to push me towards 2 or 3 over Heat. Bottom line is, if this palette is intriguing you, just buy it and try it. It might really surprise you. I did not expect to love it and I do. My pic is in my profile if you need a reference. I will include the ABHMR review below, just in case you want to compare.

For Reference and as not to over repeat myself here is my review of the ABHMR palette:

I had waited forever to buy this palette and finally splurged when it went on sale. I was going back and forth between this palette, UD Naked Heat or both ever since they came out. Finally for Christmas, I let myself get this. The colors are so pretty, the texture felt very nice and pigmented and there is an impressive matte selection. My problem was the colors on me. Most of MUA recommended this over HEAT for me. But the more I played with the MR colors there were a few issues. First, I am not great with eye makeup, but everything kept muddying together...is it me or the palette? Second, these shadows wore me. I love shades like MAC Cranberry so I thought this palette would work, but these shades came off, maybe too warm for the browns, just not good on my nw20, deep winter complexion, 3n hair and brown eyes with some hazel to them (dark under eye circles too). I tried every which way to enjoy this palette, but I never smiled once after putting on a shade. I always thought, "How can I make this work?". The people I have seen this look best on have more of a golden complexion IMO. I could make some looks work, but it took work. I was not having fun with this palette. I had the same issue I had with the Lorac Pro Matte palette with the shadows feeling soft and velvety but just muddying up on me. So this is a pretty palette and if you can work easily with the colors, gorgeous. But it just did not get along with me very well.

Sidenote: I did pick up the UD Naked Heat palette later to try. Everyone kept saying it wouldn't work on me, but a few peeps with hazel eyes said they loved it (who were my complexion). It does come off a bit warm, but not weird warm like MR did on me. It gives me a peaches and cream look when I wear the softer shades. The bolder, deeper shades give me a gorgeous bronze smokey eye like I have never been able to pull off with true "smokey" gray/black, brown shades. If you like shades like MAC Embark and Antiqued...I think you will like Heat. I will write a full review later when I have played with it longer, but it seems to sit on me easier than MR. It has also made me smile more and been easier to work with on me than MR was. I just wish I had bought the UD during the sale instead. :(

Palettes -Urban Decay -NAKED

on 1/19/2018 11:15:00 AM

Hello pigmentation! Vibrant colors, blends easily. Not a big fan of the brush that comes with, but hey it's a 'free' brush. Very nice packaging, velvet cover and has a mirror. Travel friendly size.
The price is a bit high but I've had mine for over 3 years now, and I still haven't hit pan (I don't use this pallet every day/week though).

Lipstick -Urban Decay -Vice Liquid Lipstick Comfort Matte

These feel lightweight and fairly nice on the lips for a while, but they do get really dry and tight-feeling after a few hours. I also found application to be pretty annoying, and I am not a novice when it comes to liquid lipsticks. They aren't the worst formula on the market by a long shot, but they aren't very impressive either.

Primer/ Corrector -Urban Decay -All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

on 1/16/2018 11:15:00 PM

I'm shocked this has a high rating, but then again the general population doesn't seem to study a product's ingredients. This product contains a high amount of alcohol which will dry and damage your skin over time. I will not repurchase.

Liquid -Urban Decay -All Nighter Foundation

I reach for this product every single day when I am doing my makeup. It does not dry fast so you definetly have time to blend it out and work with it before it sets. Also, I found it does not make me cakey even though it has such a good coverage. I always want a complete full cover foundation and this is it. It is perfect and I always need to buy another one when I run out. It sits nice on the skin, lasts all day and has full coverage. I love it :-)
