Too Faced

Too Faced Cosmetics was founded in the US in 1998, by Jerrod Blandino and Jeremy Johnson. (Blandino had worked at Estee Lauder makeup counters in the mid-90's.)That same year the company created the "world's first glitter eyeshadow." Known for its innovative style and intricately detailed products, the brand grew quickly and was eventually acquired by Estée Lauder in 2016.

Loose Powders -Too Faced -Born This Way Ethereal Loose Setting Powder

on 10/17/2018 2:27:00 PM

I really love this powder as I think it gives a nice soft, matte finish. It's finely milled and just leaves a nice finish on the face. Love the packaging as having the sifter with a cap helps prevent spills and makes it very travel-friendly. I first tried the medium shade but it was a little dark and orange on me (I have tan, Indian skin). So I went with the translucent shade, which is perfect as it is truly translucent and doesn't add any color. Even better than LM's powder as that one still leaves a bit of a white cast, is more expensive, and is less finely milled. And I can tell this will last forever! Highly recommended!

Palettes -Too Faced -White Peach Eyeshadow Palette

on 10/17/2018 11:08:00 AM

I think all these negative review are coming from people who either 1) Have the wrong colouring for this palette or 2) Are expecting what is supposed to be a fun, mid end eyeshadow palette to have some sort of ungodly ultra high end quality of pigmentation. No it's not going to give you the most insane pigmentation ever, ever, evah! But does the pigmentation hold up compared to other products in the same price bracket and other Too Faced products? I would say yes, yes certainly it does! In fact for some shades the pigment is far better than in the TF Chocolate Bar or Sweet Peach palettes. Let's just say that if you are used to using drugstore products this would seem like an absolute magical unicorn luxury product by comparison.

I finger swatched the shades 'Fuzzy' and 'Peach Sorbet' next the their closest equivalent 'Chaser' in the much lauded and pricier Naked Heat palette. Both the White Peach shades have obviously richer more opaque pigmentation than the UD. So I simply do not understand where all these claims of poor pigmentation are comming from. The holographic glitters in in shade 'Peach Passion' show up beautifully with no need to scrub your brush in the pan.

You DO need a certain type of colouring to suit this palette. I'm NW25 with neutal, low contrast just verging on cool toned skin and I'm a summer/autumn (soft summer) and the colour selection in this palette is my absolute jam! I once read a review on MUA that said "I think this palette must be the colours of my soul!". Well this is how I feel about the colour selection in White Peach. There is something so indescribably beautiful and wonderful about the colour selection in this palette that just draws me right in.

Palettes -Too Faced -White Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette

I love the OG chocolate palette, so I figured to give this one a try. It smells amazing but the colors are... not great. It has some nice transition shades, but everything else is really sheer and barely pigmented. For $49 there’s hundreds of other options. Disappointing.

Primer/ Corrector -Too Faced -Hangover Rx Replenishing Face Primer

on 10/16/2018 10:09:00 PM

I generally have had horrible luck finding a primer I like and that works for me, but I am on my third tube of this. So that is amazing to me. I love this stuff. I see it isn't very popular, which is unfortunate. But for me, it's been great. I see others say it's like a moisturizer. Fair enough, I can see the comparison. But I do feel that it does a great job of smoothing and prepping the skin for foundation. My foundation looks much better when I wear this. Now I have to say, not EVERY foundation I own plays well with this, but I think that is true of any primer you buy. I don't think that any one primer will work with every foundation. But this does work with most of my foundations. (I have a lot of foundations, too many,) I don't think this does a whole lot for increasing the longevity of my foundation, so that is a negative. But I use the Hangover RX spray after my makeup is done, and that does increase my wear time a lot, so I'm ok with it. In the summer when I am oilier, I don't use a moisturizer under this; when the weather starts to turn cold and heating season starts, and I start to get drier, I do use a moisturizer underneath. I also love the packaging. The pump dispenser works great, and I don't have any product waste with it. It keeps the product fresh. I haven't had any trouble with the pump not getting all of the product out of the tube. Overall, I find this to be a great primer for me, and I am happy to have found it.

Lip Gloss -Too Faced -Tutti Frutti Juicy Fruits Comfort Lip Glaze

on 10/16/2018 8:33:00 AM

How is no one on here talking about these?!

Picked this up yesterday at Ulta after finding myself in need of a new nude gloss. Needless to say, what I ended up with is not nude, but it is STUNNING! I grabbed the shade "Yummy Rummy" which is a STUNNING gilded bronze with a rusty undertone that is just sooooo flattering. It's EXTREMELY shimmery, with big gold glitter running throughout, but I love that kind of finish since it adds a lot of dimension to my somewhat small lips. (I have a big ol' liver bottom lip but my top lip is.... dainty.) I paired this yesterday with a plummy eye look, and today with an orange/gold look, and it works beautifully for both. This is a good shade for all seasons, it seems, as it's rusty enough to pull off a gorgeous warm look for Autumn, a dramatic gold for the holidays, or a pretty bronze glow for the warm months. It's extremely versatile.

The formula is to die for. It's not sticky at all, but is shockingly long-lasting for a non-sticky gloss. I don't find that this feathers at all and doesn't get all over my teeth, and it's comfortable throughout hours of wear. It's super hydrating and my lips look full and healthy during wear and even after I remove the gloss. When I do remove the gloss, the glitter is left behind. I don't mind this, but some may hate that. I do find that it gathers a teeeeeensie bit in the corners of my lips, but all glosses do that, so I'm not mad. No gloopy ring around the inside of my lips. No sliding all over the face. Definitely the best formula I've tried. There is a slight fruity scent, but it fades quickly upon application and there's no discernible taste.

The packaging is cutesy, which I know is polarizing; you either love it or hate it. I happen to love it. The little notch cut out of the edge of the lid is a cute touch, and I love the fruit print. The tube is sturdy and heavy, and the cap twists to an indent that keeps it closed. The applicator is a sort of flattened doe foot that coats your lips easily with one swipe, but also allows for precise application around the lip line.

At $20, it may be considered pricey for those who are gun-shy about purchasing high-end makeup. However, you get 7g of product, which is considerably more than I'm used to seeing in a lot of glosses (most of which seem to hover around the 5g mark). I don't mind spending more if I get more. In fact, this was the deciding factor between this gloss and another tube of the Bare Minerals Gen Nude Lacquer (which I also love, but you get WAY less product).

I'm definitely going to try other nudes in this range. I'm not one for super bright glosses, so not every shade blows my skirt up, but if the other nudes perform anywhere near as beautifully as this shade, I'll be pleased.
