Too Faced

Too Faced Cosmetics was founded in the US in 1998, by Jerrod Blandino and Jeremy Johnson. (Blandino had worked at Estee Lauder makeup counters in the mid-90's.)That same year the company created the "world's first glitter eyeshadow." Known for its innovative style and intricately detailed products, the brand grew quickly and was eventually acquired by Estée Lauder in 2016.

Eye Shadow -Too Faced -Totally Cute Palette

on 6/17/2018 3:12:00 AM

This was a total impulse buy: I found it at a drugstore in Japan for about 19 bucks, and as I rarely see Too Faced products in Japan, I grabbed it. This is something that you would maybe purchase for your high school kid, if they`re into make up. Here in Asia, it barely stands out, as everything is so cutsey, no matter what the age group it`s targeting. The colors are really bright and pigmented, perfect summer colors for a pool party or a fun day. I wouldn`t wear them on an every day basis, although the top cocoa shades could do the trick for an everyday look. I wouldn`t pay more than 19 bucks for this, but as I needed some fun, bright colors, I opted for these. They blend really well and last great with primer. That green shade is emerald gorgeous and combined with the pink and dark purple makes an awesome colorful smokey eye. The stickers, I ended up giving them to my neighbor`s kid.

Palettes -Too Faced -Natural Matte Neutral Eyeshadow Palette

This was an impulse purchase fueled solely by the adorable packaging, and unfortunately it didn't work out.

- adorable!
- easy to grab for those days you don't want to think about your eyeshadow and choosing shades
- soft and blendable

- every row and color combination looks identical once applied. Yes this is a neutral palette but the three rows give the impression there is some slight variance.
- very sheer color. This was actually a bit of a plus for me because it looked blended, but I like barely there looks. Also I'm pretty pale (NW15) so anyone darker than me probably won't see this show up.
- While cute, the packaging is a bit bulky because the top is rounded.

I really wanted to like and keep this palette, I would have no problem using this as an everyday work horse but ultimately I could not justify spending $50 CAD on a mediocre product with cute packaging. I ended up returning this and will look to drugstore if I feel I need something similar in the future.

Eye Shadow -Too Faced -Chocolate Bar

This is a great all you need type product; I would give it a 5 if I could replace a couple of the glittery shades with satin or matte neutrals. I am usually a MAC girl for eye shadows and for quality and shade range I still think MAC is the best, but these are great too. The shadows last without creasing and have great color payoff. The dark shades are beautiful; there are only a couple of light and mid tones, and those are lovely.

Palettes -Too Faced -Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette

At the end of the day, this is my go-to palette. You can create basic looks or something more dramatic. There are a lot of neutrals/browns so you have to like that sort of look to get your money's worth. Some beautiful shimmery lid shades. I also love the pink and purple colours to mix things up when I'm in the mood. Has a nice mirror, good packaging, and smells like chocolate (which everyone knows). It just makes me happy looking at this palette! I will be going on vacation for 2 weeks and this will be the only palette I bring as its so versatile. Definitely recommend and would repurchase.

Eye Shadow -Too Faced -Chocolate Bon Bons Eyeshadow Palette

Scent (vanilla-y, not overwhelming)
Molasses Chip (metallic gold)
Almond Truffle (light taupe transition matte)
Satin Sheets (gorgeous pink-toned gold highlight)
Totally Fetch (unusual hot pink—more usable than you’d think)

Cashew Chew (doesn’t show up at all)
Sprinkles (a washed out version of cotton candy, which is already light)
Cafe Au Lait (more glitter than pigment, fades fast)

Overall, despite so many people raving about these being very pigmented, they were middle of the road. I find Too Faced shadows difficult to apply—they don’t always blend well.

It’s a decent palette overall, but if it weren’t for the packaging/scent/marketing, I’m not sure I would buy it.
