Too Faced

Too Faced Cosmetics was founded in the US in 1998, by Jerrod Blandino and Jeremy Johnson. (Blandino had worked at Estee Lauder makeup counters in the mid-90's.)That same year the company created the "world's first glitter eyeshadow." Known for its innovative style and intricately detailed products, the brand grew quickly and was eventually acquired by Estée Lauder in 2016.

Eye Shadow -Too Faced -Chocolate Gold Eye Shadow Palette

I had no intention of buying this palette. I don’t own any of TF chocolate palettes because I’m not that into neutrals- so I don’t need dozens of neutral palettes. When I sawnyma promo pics I felt indifferent, thought “another neutral palette, groundbreaking”. But I got a coupon nfrom Sephora so I went to store to check out potential buys.
When I saw and swatched Chocolate Gold though- it was an instant love. N greens, umm uupniyoisilvers, purples and golds!
This palette looks 10 times better iIRL than on photos. Innn
Formula: The pigmentation of most shades is amazing. They’re very creamy, so I apply shimmers with my finger and the color payoff is great. My top 3 shades are “Chocolate Gold” (intense yellow gold, it’s great it’s one of the two big shades), “Money Bags” (forest green), “Old Money” (copper).
All shimmers look pretty applied all over the lid. I was hoping the fuchsia shade will be equally pigmented, but sadly it’s not. I’ll still reach for it though bc I love pink shadows.
The plastic packaging was a small disappointment- I was expecting metallic case like my Sweet Peach palette has, but the gold part collects fingerprints.
Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase and absolutely recommend it.

Foundations -Too Faced -Born This Way Foundation

I am usually someone that reviews a lot of products and likes a lot of products and someone who believes that quality is everything when it comes to facial makeup, especially foundation, but this was no exception. This foundation was really bad for me. I am not someone who is "acne prone" per say, but I am combination oily so my skin gets cloggy when in contact with unclean ingredients. This foundation broke me out in the tiny bumps (almost like tiny little cysts that come to the surface but never produce a head) that scatter in groups across my entire face (mostly my cheeks-the worst spot if you ask me!) that people usually have a hard time getting rid of no matter how many times they "exfoliate" or treat their skin. Also contains Dimethicone, which it meant to trap moisture, but if you think about it, it will also probably have the potential to also trap excess sebum, skins natural oils, and bacteria. I would not suggest this to people with acne prone skin because I believe that this would result in seeing increased blackheads and breakouts containing this ingredient. Beware. I will definitely not be repurchasing or recommending. Way better options out there makeupalley fam!

Eye Shadow -Too Faced -Totally Cute Palette

on 6/17/2018 3:12:00 AM

This was a total impulse buy: I found it at a drugstore in Japan for about 19 bucks, and as I rarely see Too Faced products in Japan, I grabbed it. This is something that you would maybe purchase for your high school kid, if they`re into make up. Here in Asia, it barely stands out, as everything is so cutsey, no matter what the age group it`s targeting. The colors are really bright and pigmented, perfect summer colors for a pool party or a fun day. I wouldn`t wear them on an every day basis, although the top cocoa shades could do the trick for an everyday look. I wouldn`t pay more than 19 bucks for this, but as I needed some fun, bright colors, I opted for these. They blend really well and last great with primer. That green shade is emerald gorgeous and combined with the pink and dark purple makes an awesome colorful smokey eye. The stickers, I ended up giving them to my neighbor`s kid.

Palettes -Too Faced -Natural Matte Neutral Eyeshadow Palette

This was an impulse purchase fueled solely by the adorable packaging, and unfortunately it didn't work out.

- adorable!
- easy to grab for those days you don't want to think about your eyeshadow and choosing shades
- soft and blendable

- every row and color combination looks identical once applied. Yes this is a neutral palette but the three rows give the impression there is some slight variance.
- very sheer color. This was actually a bit of a plus for me because it looked blended, but I like barely there looks. Also I'm pretty pale (NW15) so anyone darker than me probably won't see this show up.
- While cute, the packaging is a bit bulky because the top is rounded.

I really wanted to like and keep this palette, I would have no problem using this as an everyday work horse but ultimately I could not justify spending $50 CAD on a mediocre product with cute packaging. I ended up returning this and will look to drugstore if I feel I need something similar in the future.

Eye Shadow -Too Faced -Chocolate Bar

This is a great all you need type product; I would give it a 5 if I could replace a couple of the glittery shades with satin or matte neutrals. I am usually a MAC girl for eye shadows and for quality and shade range I still think MAC is the best, but these are great too. The shadows last without creasing and have great color payoff. The dark shades are beautiful; there are only a couple of light and mid tones, and those are lovely.
