What a diverse range of views on this one! Here's mine. First, that glass bottle is total glam. Ralphie couldn't have picked a better image for a perfume named "Notorious." I hardly cared how the perfume itself smelled...that deco bottle, and my mental image of Ingrid Bergman in that classic black and white film, would have been enough. None of this modern sugar sweet bomb and floral overdose for women like Ingrid or Lauren. They would have smelled like real grown ups. As for the juice, I thought it was unusual. I get a fizzy sharp Coca Cola spiciness co-existing with a cold backbone of, as another reviewer noted somewhere here, almost mushroom. Whatever's in this, the perfume a cold undertone. I don't think I ever smelled a juice quite like it. It's not unisex, but certainly not girly. Power Woman, not Pretty. Really too bad they stopped making this one.

Due to all the positive reviews of Tender Romance I decided to blindly online purchase a 1oz bottle from Ulta. My shipment arrived and my verdict: nothing about Tender Romance is mind-blowing or spectacular. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad scent by any means. It's nice but is seems a little "blah" to me... A little pedestrian. Tender Romance reminds me of a better quality, longer lasting version of Katy Perry's Meow. It's basically a hard candy scent (think all the flavors of Jolly Ranchers melted into one) layered over a pleasant musk. This is the type of perfume that would smell good to almost anyone, but it's too nondescript to be a signature, in my opinion. If you are a big fan of Meow and you're looking for something similar but stronger and longer lasting then definitely test out Tender Romance. Also it is important to note that Tender Romance and the original Romance smell NOTHING alike. This is not at all a flanker for Romance. They are definitely in two different scent categories (Romance= floral, Tender Romance= gourmand). The same can be said for Midnight Romance, another sweet scent that Ralph Lauren should have named differently. You will most likely enjoy Tender Romance if you like: Katy Perry Meow, Britney Spears Fantasy, any Viva La Juicy, Amor Amor, Pink Sugar, Prada Candy.

I do like this fragrance because it has a warmth, femininity and 'clean' smell to it, but most interestingly it is also very elegant and formal smelling, which I really like. I like it better as it settles in because I find it warms up and becomes more musky and less floral. I wore it many many years ago and tried it again now to consider re-buying, but somehow I find that fragrances perhaps do date, and it just isn't as exciting as newer models. Still a nice reliable fragrance.

A repurchase only if it could be the version I purchased in fall 1989. Fresh, sweet, clean...unique...unlike any floral previously tried. This was my signature scent until I discovered China Rain in the nineties. Wish they would bring back the original.

All I can smell from this fragrance is strong rich tuberose against a back note of mixed woodsy scents. Scent is fairly longl lasting on me.
