Treatments (Face) -Paula's Choice -Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant

on 1/19/2019 8:29:00 AM

Background: Sensitive skin. Have been using this exfoliant for a few weeks now. My routine: cleanser, toner, PC 8% AHA exfoliant, moisturizer with retinol. I use the exfoliant once daily as I feel twice daily will be too much for my skin. I apply only a light layer.

Pros: No breakouts, and no irritation. I can't see my skin 'flaking off' (as is what happens sometimes with exfoliants), but my skin is smoother, and has a subtle radiance. The difference is subtle but its there. AHA's are supposed to work long term anyway, so its one of those things where you really reap the rewards later with consistent use. Competitively priced, and a bottle will last me ages.

Cons: It does feel sticky after you apply it. Thats a minor con though in contrast with the other benefits. Remember to use sunscreen and be vigilant about sun protection, because AHA's can increase sun sensitivity. I felt tingles - a bit of a stinging sensition - the first few times I applied it, but it has gone now. The key is to listen to your skin and apply a light layer, go slowly if need be.

Treatments (Face) -Paula's Choice -Peptide Booster

on 1/17/2019 10:31:00 PM

So disappointed in this. I am 50 years old, I take great care of my skin, and it's in good shape. I was hoping this would be a nice addition to my skin care routine. I wasted my money.
I am NOT especially prone to acne, but every single time I have attempted to use this my skin breaks out within a day of applying it. It is also way overpriced.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice -RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer

I get combo/oily skin during the day but it sure gets dry at night. PC 4 Men, which is the same as this product, has been my go to for a while now. 0.1% retinol cream with nice antiaging ingredients. Moisturizes my fairly (but not super) dry night skin but not greasy.
However, i'd rather get this product because of the packaging. PC 4 Men is in an ugly plastic tube which spouts out way too much if you hit it wrong. The Resist barrier repair is in an elegant blue secure aluminmum (?) tube, and you totally control how much comes out. A hard press just gets a tiny bit out. So it lasts a lot longer.

Treatments (Face) -Paula's Choice -Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment

Here's why this retinol stands out:
-It's strong, at 1%. If your wrinkles can still be combated, this will do the trick.
-Its sealed very securely
-You can totally control how much comes out via the pump (unlike PTR's amazing product, which is in an annoying dropper where you waste)
-It's thick, so it spreads properly and lightly. Not overly watery or greasy.

Lip Treatments -Paula's Choice -Lip & Body Treatment Balm

Was not really impressed w/this product.
Yes, it does what it says it will. It's been saving my lips at night thru this dry winter. But... so does Aquaphor at much less price. Aquaphor also feels better.
The jar packaging I'm not a fan of, I had to keep sticking my dirty fingers in the jar and now the product is getting clumpy and weird.
