Masks -Paula's Choice -Rehydrating Moisture Mask

on 1/20/2019 6:48:00 PM

This is a product that I initially gave a 2 lippie rating back in March of 2018. I've come to like the product very much as a hydrating moisturizer when my skin gets irritated from prescription Retin-A. It's hydrating and non-irritating for when my skin peels when I've overdone my Retin-A. I still dislike the fact that it pills terribly but when I just put on a good layer of it without rubbing it in, it works really well. I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 because of the pilling. I have purchased a second tube.

My original review from March 2018:
Like many, I've been using and loving PC's skin care for many, many years....since she first introduced it. This might be one of the first products from them that's going in the garbage because returning it from Canada just doesn't make sense. I find it doesn't do that much as a mask so I thought I would leave it on as the last step in my evening routine. The problem is, that on my skin, this pills terribly. I understand that as a mask you should apply a thicker layer and not touch it but I can barely get it on before it starts coming off in large rolling bits. Terrible. It might not play well with the rest of my PC products or it could be my skin chemistry. Usually when this happens with a face product I use it up on my hands and arms but not matter how thin a layer I put on it pills off. Even on my clean arm skin with no products underneath and I'm not even trying to rub it in. I would far rather stick to a slightly thicker layer of the Resist Intensive Repair Cream for Dry to Very Dry Skin which also contains more beneficial products. I feel like this mask was a response to consumer demand because of the recent "trend" towards the addition of masks to a skin routine which I fell for, but I've learned that for me, it really isn't necessary.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice -RESIST Intensive Repair Cream

on 1/20/2019 12:33:00 PM

It moisturizes well for the first couple weeks, but so does anything with petrolatum in it. After that, my pores just start to clog. The retinol didn't seem to make a difference. I'll just have to keep looking for a dry skin cream without petroleum products. Bummer!

Treatments (Face) -Paula's Choice -CALM REDNESS RELIEF Repairing Serum

I have the serum and the sunscreen and the worst clogged pores of my life! I've never had this before and her BHA's have not helped at all. I have the 4% and just received a sample of the 9 and neither has done a thing. I don't bother with her products anymore, it's not worth the $$ that everything has become and the quality has gone steadily downhill.

Treatments (Face) -Paula's Choice -Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant

on 1/19/2019 8:29:00 AM

Background: Sensitive skin. Have been using this exfoliant for a few weeks now. My routine: cleanser, toner, PC 8% AHA exfoliant, moisturizer with retinol. I use the exfoliant once daily as I feel twice daily will be too much for my skin. I apply only a light layer.

Pros: No breakouts, and no irritation. I can't see my skin 'flaking off' (as is what happens sometimes with exfoliants), but my skin is smoother, and has a subtle radiance. The difference is subtle but its there. AHA's are supposed to work long term anyway, so its one of those things where you really reap the rewards later with consistent use. Competitively priced, and a bottle will last me ages.

Cons: It does feel sticky after you apply it. Thats a minor con though in contrast with the other benefits. Remember to use sunscreen and be vigilant about sun protection, because AHA's can increase sun sensitivity. I felt tingles - a bit of a stinging sensition - the first few times I applied it, but it has gone now. The key is to listen to your skin and apply a light layer, go slowly if need be.

Treatments (Face) -Paula's Choice -Peptide Booster

So disappointed in this. I am 50 years old, I take great care of my skin, and it's in good shape. I was hoping this would be a nice addition to my skin care routine. I wasted my money.
I am NOT especially prone to acne, but every single time I have attempted to use this my skin breaks out within a day of applying it. It is also way overpriced.
