Hair Treatments -Olaplex -Olaplex step 3 (Home treatment)

Olaplex 3 is all hype. Does no more than a good deep condition with a drug store brand. Very disappointed for the price. Maybe it’s the low concentration of active ingredient compared to #1. Have tried two bottles really hoping, based on rave reviews but it is not effective and absolutely NOT worth the price. FYI I have dark brown Asian haïr that Jae in Austin killed with bleach attempting a balayage over a year ago. Healthy hair down to the middle of my back was fried yellow. Broke and fell out and am trying to nurse it back. Really wish Olaplex worked.

Hair Treatments -Olaplex -Olaplex No. 3

First you have to have wet hair, then apply and wait 20 min then rinse and shampoo. This is a very awkward way to condition my hair! I much prefer Living Proof Restore. I'm not a fan of the shampoo and conditioner either as it eventually made my hair feel greasy. Overall,I'll pass on the Olaplex, although I did finish them up.

Shampoo -Olaplex -Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo

on 2/20/2019 2:16:00 AM

Being a big fan of Olaplex No.3 at home treatment and disappointed from ALL my previous hair care purchases (low end, high end, you name it), I decided to give no. 3 and 4 a shot. While I already finished the conditioner, shampoo is still half full - even for long hair you don't need to use a lot, it leathers really well. Most shampoos leave my hair feeling very dry after rinse which I didn't experience here (at least not to the same extent).

Unlike other reviewers I'm not a fan of it's strong smell, but that's up to everyone's taste. I don't think shampoo can do much in terms of bond building since you rinse it out quickly - I can't tell if it made any difference since I always used the conditioner afterwards. Conditioner runs out too fast for the price and I think it leaves a lot of residue and not enough hydration, so I would recommend using no. 3 once in a while instead (in combination with regular conditioning).

It's definitely giving me better results then the products I used previously, but even after a thorough conditioning my hair needed some extra oil added and the hair texture and appearance was not great (although it felt pretty strong). Since I just had a great experience with Biolage Raw Nourish line I probably won't repurchase, but if I would, it would be the shampoo.

Conditioner -Olaplex -Olaplex #5 Conditioner

I have fine, dry and wavy hair but a ton of it. My hair dries much bigger and poufier than normal after using Olaplex conditioner and/or shampoo. I was blaming the shampoo for this, but when I started using the conditioner with a different shampoo, I found that both Olaplex s&c have this effect on me (this does not happen with Olaplex 2, which I love).

I usually wash my hair before bed because sleeping on it takes some of the bulk out. Not so when I use Olaplex s&c. This stuff gives my hair so much (unwanted) frizz and volume and I wake up with huge hair. It forms almost a perfect circle from puffiness and frizz. I end up saturating it with giant globs of castor or almond oil to weigh it down.

Now the good part - when I use Olaplex shampoo and conditioner together (or just the conditioner), even though my hair dried into a puffball nightmare, it takes well to heat styling. It is silky and smooth in 1-2 passes of the iron, rather than leaving my hair a bit parched with broken bits sticking up. I MUST iron after using it, otherwise my hair is too big and frizzy to deal with.

Maybe this product does help with damage - but just like Olaplex 2 - the moisture issues might need to be addressed with a separate product for some hair types. To save time, I have been layering this with a deep conditioning mask. But going forward, would probably not repurchase and just stick to using Olaplex 2 occasionally.

I was going to give this fewer stars due to the puffball that it turns my hair into when left to dry naturally. But it is useful for when I intend to flat iron.

So for me - 3 stars, solely for the protection it seems to offer from heat styling.
