Blush -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Blush

on 10/17/2017 5:23:00 PM

I have the shade "Vibrant 20", which is a medium warm pink. This blush is silky smooth and has good color payoff. The color lasts all day, and the formula does not break me out. I think this was $8.99, which is a bit high considering the packaging isn't that great (no brush), but I like the shade and formula, so I'd repurchase!

Shampoo -Neutrogena - Anti-Residue Shampoo

on 10/17/2017 4:20:00 PM

This has been one of the top selling shampoos since the '80s. It's a very simple shampoo compared to most formulas, but it's simplicity makes it suitable for all hair types. This is marketed as a clarifying shampoo, which really just means that it removes dirt, oil, and product residue without leaving any conditioning ingredients behind on the hair shaft. It isn't any more "stripping" compared to other shampoos. All shampoos do a thorough job of cleaning the hair. The only difference between this and a conditioning shampoo is that it doesn't leave silicones or copolymers behind on the hair that can eventually build up over time. As such, this is a great shampoo to alternate with a conditioning shampoo.
Personally, I prefer to use a non conditioning, clear shampoo like Neutrogena Anti Residue every time I wash my hair. It doesn't buildup or leave my hair feeling sticky and full of residue, and it leaves my hair full of body. I can also forgo washing my hair for a longer period of time. My hair generally looks, feels, and behaves better with a non conditioning shampoo followed by a well formulated conditioner.
Contrary to what many may claim, sulfates are not bad for the hair and scalp. They are very effective cleansing agents that provide an effective, foaming lather in a shampoo. In my opinion, it is best to avoid sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) because it is extremely irritating to the scalp, and drying to the hair. It is actually the basis of comparison when determining the potential for irritation of other surfactants. The sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) that this shampoo contains is effective yet gentle on the hair and scalp. This shampoo also contains cocamidopropyl betaine which is a foam enhancer that reduces the potential for irritation from other surfactants within a shampoo formula.
Sulfates do not affect hair color, or any other chemical hair process for that matter. The number one cause of fading color is water. Wetting the hair with water and applying a shampoo with any kind of surfactant will cause fading (as does sun exposure). I highlight and color my hair, and I have used many different shampoos with and without sulfates. Sulfates in a shampoo do not cause my color to fade any more or less, nor do they affect the tone of my color. I do try to keep washing to a minimum by using dry shampoo in between, which has significantly diminished any potential for fading color.
The one thing I dislike about this formula is the scent. I agree with reviewers that compare it to Old Spice. That being said, it does not linger after rinsing. I cannot detect it after my hair is dry either.
Some reviewers say that this shampoo doesn't foam until you apply it again immediately afterwards. However, this is not necessary. The more product residue, dirt and oil that is present on your hair, the less lather will occur. Your hair is clean, it's just that the lather was prevented by the presence of buildup. The second wash foams much more because it can lather without obstruction. Using a shampoo that doesn't build up every time you wash will prevent this from happening, although it makes no difference in the cleanliness of your hair and scalp.
The price and efficacy can't be beat. I always have this in my shower. It's a reliable formula that I can fall back on if I decide to try a different shampoo.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Rapid Tone Repair Night Moisturizer

on 10/17/2017 12:17:00 AM

Decent price
Effective packaging - protects against degradation of ingredients
Easily found and available

Heavily scented
Caused breakouts for me

I have never had issues with retinol or vitamin C, used them often with no irritation. This product didn't cause irritation or redness but I had some bad breakouts (whiteheads and cysts).
It's a light lotion but does seem to be greasy and doesn't totally absorb into my skin.
I want this to work, and it's highly rated so I'm going to continue trying it but only ever other night. Not impressed right now but I'll update soon.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Hypoallergenic Cleansing Bar

on 10/16/2017 12:45:00 AM

This has been my basic cleanser for face and body for many many years.
It never irrittes my sensitive skin, removes all traces of makeup and other debris, has no fragrance and is really, really cheap.
I actually prefer this in a tube which I can buy in SE Asia when I am there and usually stock up. Only the bar is available in Australia in the gentle formula. If you live in OZ and have sensitive skin don't fall for any of their liquid cleansers as they are too harsh.
The bar is the bomb.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser

on 10/15/2017 4:26:00 PM

This is the cleanser I've been waiting for! I've tried pretty much everything in the drugstore and they either dried my skin completely, irritated my skin, or caused me to break out. I have combination skin and I made the mistake of over drying my skin out, not realizing that the more dry my skin is, the more oil it produces and the more acne I get. This cleanser cleanses without stripping my skin! I don't even need mosturizer after. The smell is great. The price is great. My face has a healthy glow after using It really foams up, I only have to use about half a pump to clean my face, so it lasts me a long time. I don't know what I'd do if they stopped making this cleanser.
