Moisturizers -Neutrogena -Hydro-Boost Gel Cream Extra-Dry Skin

on 7/15/2018 2:08:00 PM

This is a great new drugstore item for really dry skin like mine. It was given to me by my MIL who found it was too "gloppy" for her taste (and even tho she's 92, she has less dryness than I do!). I really like this as an add on either before my AM routine or at night. It's particularly refreshing and soothing for me in the summer heat. Affordable, too!

Cleansers -Neutrogena -Visibly Clear 2-in-1 wash mask

on 7/15/2018 6:32:00 AM

This doesn’t do anything to reduce breakouts, rather it causes them - tenfold!! It’s absolutely full of alcohol and if you’re anyway prone to breakouts avoid avoid avoid. This product doubled the breakout on my chin and caused rash style bumps after a week of use. I honestly don’t know what I was thinking. It’s currently in the bin and I’ve turned to the environ range to get my skin back in order. It’s worth spending more on trusted salon brands recommended by actual skin care professionals. These over the counter washes are just a marketing ploy. More often than not they’ll leave your skin feeling a lot worse. Don’t risk it. Never again.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena -Oil-Free Moisture Sensitive Skin

on 7/11/2018 11:44:00 PM

First off, let me address some of the scathing and undeserved reviews this poor moisturizer has gotten. Petrolatum is not considered an oil in the same way that oils such as coconut, jojoba and argan oil are, so Neutrogena wasn't engaging in false advertising when it labeled this moisturizer as oil-free. Secondly, parabens have gotten a bad rap for being detrimental to one's health (they were mistakenly linked to breast cancer in a 2004 study) but credible sources such as the American Cancer Society, the FDA, Health Canada, etc, have all found zero evidence linking parabens to breast cancer and have maintained that they are safe to use in cosmetics. Now that the science-y stuff is out of the way, let me get to the actual review.
This is a plain, unexciting moisturizer that I constantly cheat on with other moisturizers, yet always seem to come back to. I have very dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin, and this moisturizer neither irritates it or breaks it out. If it was a bit more moisturizing, I would unequivocally rate it a 5, but I find it a bit too lightweight for my skin type. Otherwise, this is an all-around excellent moisturizer.

Cleansers -Neutrogena -Fresh Foaming Cleanser

on 7/11/2018 10:49:00 AM

I've been using this for about ten years, ever since my dermatologist recommended it to me for regular maintenance following a successful round of Accutane. Though I occasionally stray, I always come back: it cleanses thoroughly, removes all of my non-waterproof makeup, and has never given me an issue with regards to acnes or dryness.

As far as cons go, I wish it had a different scent -- the lemony fragrance reminds me a bit of household cleaning products. It can leave my skin feeling a little tight directly after cleansing, but my toner and moisturizer take great care of that. For those two things and nothing else, I'm taking off a star -- but for functionality, it's amazing.

Lips -Neutrogena -MoistureShine Lip Sheer in Sunny Berry 25

on 7/10/2018 7:41:00 PM

These MoistureShine balms are a comparable product to Fresh's Lip Sugar, with good pigmentation and SPF 20 at a cheaper price point. The packaging isn't as luxurious and it lacks the lemony scent of Fresh, but for 1/4 the cost, you can buy all 6 colors if you really want to. My go-to this summer is Sunny Berry, a natural nude-berry that qualifies as a MLBB shade. No shimmer, lasts for a few hours. No complaints!
$6.49 on Amazon for a plastic twist-up tube with 0.15 oz of product.
