Contour -NYX -Highlight & Contour Pro Palette

I'm surprised this palette isn't getting more love. I have both this and the Kat Von D Shade+Light, and find them almost identical. This one actually has more colors, including a shimmery highlighter and an orangey bronzer-type color. The NYX palette cost me $18 Cdn (on sale) and the Kat Von D was $61 Cdn. I find them equally pigmented, and both have quite a bit of powdery fallout.

None of the highlighters except the shimmery one in the NYX kit show up well on my pale skin. The yellow shades are identical, and I actually like the pink better in the NYX because it is lighter.

As for the contours, I've swatched them side by side and three of the contour shades are identical. There is a cool toned taupe, a slightly deeper brown with more gold, and a dark brown.

The one area where the Kat Von D might win is with deeper skin tones, because the pink and salmon highlighters would actually show up, and the NYX highlighters might be too light.

Overall for the price I recommend the NYX if you have light skin.

Mascara -NYX -Fly With Me

I was hoping this mascara would be good by the shape of the wand and I love most NYX products but this mascara just wasn't black enough and it didn't hold a curl. Not the best, not the worst, but definitely pass on this product.

Lipstick -NYX -Lipstick- #529 Thalia

I love this shade . I’m a nw18 skintone with very pigmented lips. This shows up a plummy nude tone. My favoite way to wear this is over Kat Von D liquid lipstick in shade Ludwig. It helps soften the dryness of the liquid lipstick and also changing the color of the KVD shade to a slightly rose brown shade instead of a fawn brown. I love this shade over other matte lipsticks as welll like Blankety by MAC. This really does transform a number of too plain nude shades into something lush and beautiful. The NYX lipsticks are the most moisturizing of any I have tried besides with the exception of a few rouge volupte YSL shades I use to have.

Lip Treatments -NYX -Butter Balm

I love the tube butter glosses formula, color and smell wise. But this one I do not like. The worst part is the smell, it's like some very acidic fruit or vitamin C pill. I just couldn't stand it. It was that way in several colors I tried, all the same smell.

The formula was just okay. You could use it as a light balm, but if your lips are dry it will not smooth them out visibly during wear, so if you want it for that, pass on this. It's not that rich or thick. It's super, super light to the point of likely only working well on lips that are not dry already.

I had to get rid of mine due to the smell being intolerable.

Brows -NYX -Brow Mascara

I think they changed the color names - I used to use "espresso" but now the darker/ashy color is sold as "black". Luckily it's not actually black (marketing fail, NYX? I almost didn't buy it.) I have dark brown brows that are fairly full but fading with age and have gaps in them here and there. This mascara is so easy to brush on and the pigment will graze the skin and baby hairs and fill in gaps in the shape with no effort. And of course hold s the brow shape as a mascara is supposed to do. Great buy, great find.
